Julcsi mesél a várható izlandi természeti katasztrófáról, vagyis minden, amit tudni akartál szélviharról, földrengésről, hőerőműről, riasztó rendszerről, a magma tengervízzel való találkozásáról, a birkák szabad legeltetéséről, illetve a katasztrófavédelemről. Hosszú ideig párhuzamosan énekelt a magyar népzenét játszó Ökrös együttesben, illetve a kárpát-medencei és balkáni világzenét képviselő Besh o droM zenekarban. Szólista pályáját 2004-ben kezdte, azóta főként saját zenekaraival lép színpadra. 2008-ban, A vágy muzsikál című albumán Karády Katalin repertoárjának legsikeresebb dalait helyezte új kontextusba.

As we come to the end of this series on building strong communities, I wanted to revisit one of the most impactful conversations I had from last season. Last year you may remember that I released an 11 episode series of expert panels focused on various aspects of regenerative agriculture. In the final panel session I recorded a discussion with Allan Savory, Ana Digón, and Rudolf Buehler all of whom have been catalysts for for the creation of community for growers and land stewards around the world. Since this is the aspect of my work that I spend the most time on, and because the insights in this conversation have been so formative in the way that I approach my work with Climate Farmers and the European agriculture community, I wanted to revisit this discussion and include it in this series on community building In this session I hosted a discussion on building community in agriculture with my friends and colleagues at Climate Farmers, a non-profit organization working to build the infrastructure to scale regenerative agriculture in Europe. In my work as the Community Coordinator with Climate Farmers I've heard from so many of the people in our network that they feel lonely or isolated in their work and in their own communities. Despite the work of many organisations to bring together growers in various regions, many farmers still don't know where to turn to for support and connection. For this panel I was fortunate enough to be joined by three world renowned teachers and farm community builders from Zimbabwe, Spain, and Germany to focus on the nuances and challenges of building agricultural communities from their own unique experiences. We'll hear from Allan Savory of the Savory Institute and international Holistic Management network, Ana Digón from the Agricultura Regenerativa network on the Iberian Peninsula, and Rudolf Bühler, leader of the farmers movement BESH and initiator of the UN's peasant rights in Germany. We'll go into some key starting points in bringing farming communities together, and what it takes to sustain them in the long term. We go from the importance of managing communities to alternative structures, important aspects of rural priorities, and a lot more. Financially Speaking with Kathy Cook Noble On the next Financially Speaking with Kathy Cook Noble, Kathy is joined by Lifestyle Contributor, Brent “Besh” Beshara. The two discuss starting off your new year with a new mindset. Besh talks about some of the things he does to charge himself for another trip around the sun. I am a global citizen, student of life, explorer, scientist, and a firehose philosopher. My 24 years in the Canadian military as a Special Forces Navy Bomb Disposal Diver were amazing, but it came with a sincere sacrifice. It cost me mentally, physically, and cost me my first marriage. So since retiring in 2007, I have created for myself a lifestyle of researching, understanding, and applying the “application of life” which consists of many diverse modalities from ancient tribal wisdom, to current quantum understandings, to extreme cold exposure. This world understanding has allowed me to get to know the truth of myself which helps free me from the perceived dramas of life. What I want for myself, I want for everyone, therefore I feel compelled to share my personal method of understanding that continues to help me and can help others clear their vexations and live a life truly worth living. https://besh.ca/ besh@beshknives.com Kathy's Book: All Ladies Should Use the F-Word: A Guide to Loving Your Finances Purchase on Amazon.com Amazon.co.uk Amazon.ca *Listen now on the Inspired Choices Network app! https://linktr.ee/inspiredchoicesnetwork ~ More About Financially Speaking ~ Everywhere you go, everywhere you turn, everyone you talk to, money appears. Besh describes himself as “a global citizen, student of life, explorer, scientist, and a firehose philosopher.” He'll be sharing his story - how he retired as a Canadian Military Special Forces Navy Bomb Disposal Diver and became an international knife designer inventing the “Besh Wedge” – the strongest knife tip in the world. But he ultimately decided to take the “Rasta Bob” route by making music, supporting his tribe, and rockin' at music festivals. He says “(it) came down to my choices, accountability, action, and commitment.” As our Lifestyle Contributor, Besh will be sharing some of the key things he has learned about living a life filled with purpose. Welcome to the 11th of the monthly expert panel discussions, and our final panel of this year. Each month I've been hosting discussions and debates between some of the most prominent voices in regenerative agriculture, soil science, restoration land management and more. In this session I hosted a discussion on building community in agriculture with my friends and colleagues at Climate Farmers, a non-profit organization working to build the infrastructure to scale regenerative agriculture in Europe. Don't forget that if you want to hear the full, unedited version of this interview with the entire Q&A session at the end, be sure to check out the different subscription options on the Regenerative Skills Patreon page. Since these discussions are longer than the regular weekly episodes, and I give the more detailed descriptions of the participants in the beginning of the interview, I'll keep the intro short and jump right into the introductions for our panelists. this interview has been on my podcasting bucket list for a long time. Like so many others, I'd been intrigued by Allan's work since I saw his iconic TED talk a few years back. The promise of the ability to restore grassland ecologies through carefully managed grazing made so much sense to me. Allan adeptly explained how he learned to mimic the migration patterns of herd animals on the plains in the African savannah by bunching them together to imitate predator pressure, and then move them through paddocks to allow the land to rest and recover in between impact cycles. Through careful observation he learned to time these grazing and rest cycles in such a way that the perennial grasses could grow larger than ever thought possible and so many other healthy functions of the land were restored in turn. It seems so simple and yet has marked a revolution in ranching and livestock management around the world, giving rise to the prominence of Holistic Management through the Savory Institute and an ever expanding network of Savory hubs around the world. I myself dabbled in the core teachings which are based around working with whole systems rather than reductionist scientific methods, and defining one's own holistic context within the whole under management. From there you learn to make decisions based on the quality of life you desire for yourself and those you love and assess the resources you need to produce or acquire to maintain that quality of life indefinitely. I began to see these principles pop up in other books I was reading and Allan's teachings were quoted in nearly all of the courses on regenerative agriculture I came across. Many of my mentors have cited this framework as the foundation on which they design farms and manage ecologies. The pieces just get coming together Recently I finally committed and enrolled in the Holistic Management accredited professional course offered by 3LM, the Savory hub in the UK, which is responsible for training many of the other managers and trainers I've connected with around Europe. All of this led me to play hooky on my weekly online training to finally get to speak with the man himself. To be honest, this whole preamble was to try and explain why I sound so nervous in this interview. And just as Murphy's law would have it, when I finally got Allan on the call, my connection began to fail me. So with the combination of me sounding much like I did back on the early seasons of this show and some annoying glitchy sound issues (which I promise I mostly cleaned up in the post production) I invite you to have a listen to the first of a two part call with Allan Savory in which we explore some of the insights that he's gained from decades teaching and developing his framework all around the world. In this first half, we start by talking about what Allan is working on these days and what he still sees as the unfinished business of a very long career. We dissect some of the more challenging concepts in Holistic Management to grasp and also to teach, and Allan uses some of my inept use of language to illustrate some common misunderstandings that arise with newcomers like myself. If you're interested in getting a chance to hear Allan Savory speak live and ask him some questions of your own, there are still spots open to register for the expert panel call that I'm hosting with him and Rudolf Buehler of the BESH farmers association this upcoming Wednesday at 8pm Central European time. It's free to register and I'll be posting the link on the discord channel which you can access through our website or instagram page. Financially Speaking with Kathy Cook Noble This week on Financially Speaking Kathy chats with Brent “Besh” Beshara about creating a new life focus. Besh is retired Canadian Special Forces, designer of the Besh Wedge knife, a motivational speaker, a Whim Hof Ambassador, and creator of Body, Breath, Brain workshops. Besh talks with Kathy about living a life truly worth living. What I want for myself, I want for everyone, therefore I feel compelled to share my personal method of understanding that continues to help me and can help others clear their vexations and live a life truly worth living. https://besh.ca/ besh@beshknives.com Kathy’s Book: All Ladies Should Use the F-Word: A Guide to Loving Your Finances Purchase on Amazon.com Amazon.co.uk Amazon.ca ~ More About Financially Speaking ~ Everywhere you go, everywhere you turn, everyone you talk to, money appears. Either in conversation, in thoughts, in dreams, in stress, in arguments and in planning. Money is the one commodity that everyone can universally agree that they all need. Most people navigate through their lives not really understanding how money works or how to keep more of it. Kathy Cook Noble is a believer in people’s abilities to understand, control and plan for their futures with money. She believes that once people understand the importance of why they need to control their own finances, they will live a free and happy life. She is a Financial Advisor, teacher, bookkeeper, business expert, seeker of knowledge, community volunteer and believer in people. Kathy has spent her entire life studying and working in business to help people expand their lives, save money, make money and avoid financial ruin. She personally understands what it means to see value and have faith in yourself so that you are more confident in financial decisions. Overcoming painful obstacles and realizations about money has helped Kathy become obsessed with helping people, especially women, understand their financial situations and help them plan for their future selves. http://kathycooknoble.gpwealth.ca/ https://www.bookkeepplus.ca/ kathy@bookkeepplus.ca To get more of Financially Speaking with Kathy Cook Noble, be sure to visit the podcast page for replays of all her shows here: https://www.inspiredchoicesnetwork.com/podcast/financially-speaking-kathy-cook-noble/

“The five-pointed star, or haykal (Arabic: temple) is the symbol of the Baháʼí Faith as mentioned by Shoghi Effendi, head of the Baháʼí Faith in the first half of the 20th century: "Strictly speaking the 5-pointed star is the symbol of our Faith, as used by the Báb and explained by Him."[1] The five-pointed star has been used as the outline of special letters or tablets by both the Báb[2] and Baháʼu'lláh.[3] Haykal is a loan word from the Hebrew word hēyḵāl, which means temple and specifically Solomon's Temple in Jerusalem. In Arabic, the word also means the body or form of something, particularly the human body.[4] In the Baháʼí tradition, the haykal was established by the Báb — who told of Baháʼu'lláh's coming — who represented the haykal as a five-pointed star representing the human body as a head, two hands, and two feet.[4][5] The Báb wrote many letters, tablets, prayers and more in the shape of a five-pointed star, including some that included many derivatives of the word Baháʼ (see below).[6][7] In Baháʼu'lláh's writings, specifically the Súriy-i-Haykal (Tablet of the Temple), while the meaning of temple remains present, the haykal is used mainly to mean the human body, but particularly the body of the Manifestation of God — a messenger from God — and the person of Baháʼu'lláh himself.[4] In the Tablet, the haykal is also used to refer to the word of God, which is revealed by the Manifestations of God.[8] He also says in the same Tablet:
Greetings, congregation! Hope everyone is staying safe and sane out there. This week, Besh introduces me to one of his old friends, Handsome Sean! Steffani Besch inspires with a message about Christ being the same always. Sometimes we feel dead in our spirit, but the same Christ that touched people and changed lives, does the same today for all who call upon His name.

Greetings, congregation! Contrary to popular belief, i'm not dead! I've been taking a social media fast, so sorry if my presence has been missed or if i've missed any messages, i'll be back before you know it! We have a very special interview today, Ryan Davis! Ryan began listen to C&OD when he was still drinking, and ended up getting sponsored by Besh for awhile, before going to rehab and eventually getting sober. Greetings, congregation! This weeks starts off with Besh and Jed recounting some stories from Jed's recent trip to Colorado, so thoughts on Psychedelic drugs, a story from Jed's meth days, and Besh saw a ghost. Then, in an interview borne from a facebook argument, Jed brings on Nick Lucky to discuss the reality or nonreality of demons and demonic attack. Nick was raised in a very fundamentalist fashion, and was formerly very interested in demonology. He has since changed his views, so Jed gets to the bottom of it. churchandotherdrugs@gmail.com patreon.com/churchandotherdrugs
Welcome to 2019 Congregation! Thanks for sticking with us all this time. On today's episode, Besh and Jed hash out the finer points of life-- namely Oregon considering legalization of mushrooms and whether or not that means we can now take them (hint: no). We also talk about the resurgence of the R. Kelly controversy and how Besh hated "Bandersnatch" but loved "Bird Box". Ugh. Then on a VERY special interview, Jed talks to Booka Nile- keyboardist/vocalist from the metal band Make Them Suffer. Booka began her career working in the field of mental health; she started with people with disabilities and brain trauma, and moved on to manage a mental health hostel. Booka talks about how she practices self-care, burnout, and how her life changed when she joined a world-famous touring metal band. Mum wasn't thrilled at first. Booka has recently started a mental health vlog, and we highly recommend it. You can also catch her on tour feb/mar with Born of Osiris and Chelsea Grin! Happy New Years Congregation! We've had an amazing 2018, seen a lot of things change, a lot of friends gained, and a lot more friends lost. Besh joins me to reminisce about the year, complain about stuff, and play a new game called "finding hitler" (you patrons already know whats up). Then, we bring on Nate Allen, and talk about his new project and album under the Good Saint Nathanael moniker. Nate tells his story of realizing he was the victim of spiritual abuse from growing up in assemblies of God church, and how he moved into being a punk rocker , touring the country , and all things DIY. find Nate on spotify and itunes: Destroy Nate Allen and Good Saint Nathanael https://youtu.be/iVzmEc-jVd4 https://youtu.be/dJtj27LbtsE churchandotherdrugs@gmail.com patreon.com/churchandotherdrugs

This week Besh and Jed start things off by talking about the morals and ethics of darknet drug dealers, why 13 Reasons Why is actually making kids kill themselves, and we have a new Patron! (Looking at you, Rich Maggio!) Then in a very special interview, we bring on Maddie Jackson! Aside from being Besh's fiance, Maddie is one of Jed's old friends in sobriety. Maddie tells her story of growing up the child of alcoholics, how she dealt with adulting at an early age, passing finals in blackouts, moving to amphetamines and opiates, and finally getting sober through a spiritual experience involving a priest, a grill, and a psych ward. Then she talks about her new business, The Creative Luminary, where she helps people by creating and facilitating unique 'Spiritual Treatment Plans' tailored to different needs. She emphasizes authenticity and the importance of making conscious decisions that bring individuals in closer companionship to themselves, others, and the Universe. "We are living in an era, where people are waking up to the understanding that life seems to be missing something. People are internally struggling and this is manifesting outwardly in all types of unwanted or harmful behaviors. We are desperate to become more connected to the creativity and Divine within. If we are not learning how to do this, as humans, we will continue to suffer. I am dedicated to helping others find this connection. There is wisdom in truly understanding the battle is within us, not outside us. The spirit is longing to be expressed and when given the opportunity, truly wonderful and meaningful experiences transpire, which bring us in closer companionship with one another.” Madeline Jackson

Greetings, congregation! It's a nice, relaxing sunday and Besh and Jed just shoot the breeze-- covering everything from antifa, kanye's white house visit, what happens when you take too many somas, sober living house horror stories, fantasy football and Besh's recent prison counseling. Great times! churchandotherdrugs@gmail.com patreon.com/churchandotherdrugs
Greetings, congregation! Besh and Jed bring you the latest, from a tragic, senseless shooting to a loss in the family, Jed turns 31, and they try and get to the root of Jed being a germaphobe. Then, new friend to the congregation Brandon A. comes on the show to tell us his story. Brandon started off homeschooled in a conservative christian home and took a journey of self-discovery that led to k2 and spice, then meth, heroin, rehab, an exorcism of sorts, and trying to meet Michelle Obama at Olive Garden. Brandon has an incredible story and we're glad to have him, and we think you will enjoy it as well. churchandotherdrugs@gmail.com patreon.com/churchandotherdrugs

Pump the brakes on your week and take 10 minutes to make your life as a surgeon just a little better…Jeff welcomes to the podcast Basil Besh, MD, orthopaedic hand surgeon and physician leader. The topic of discussion is leadership, a quality Basil describes as natural to physicians and “intrinsic to the profession.”Whether or not you take on a more prominent role as a leader, you are leading your patients and care teams. You must actively work to develop this leadership skill over time. When you graduate medical school you are not the same leader you will be 10 or 20 years into your career. So what steps does Basil suggest we take to improve as leaders?Step 1 - Seek out other good leaders, guidance and knowledge.Step 2 - Keep working and advancing this craft.Step 3 - Don’t drink your own Kool-Aid. Stay grounded. Most importantly, simultaneously leading and following will lay the groundwork for continued improvement as a physician leader for your patients and your colleagues.Basil R. Besh, M.D., is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in hand, wrist, and elbow conditions in Fremont, California. He serves in numerous leadership roles, including 2018 president of the California Orthopaedic Association, and as a member of the Board of Directors of American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), the AAOS Board of Councilors, and the board of directors of the Western Orthopaedic Association.Leadership is a great example of how surgeons can improve their effectiveness inside and outside of the OR.

Greetings, congregation! This week I'm going to be releasing a few Patreon-exclusive episodes to give you, the normal, lowly listener, a chance to see behind the curtain what we are up to on our bonus episodes. Lots of low-brow humor, mainly. Enjoy! patreon.com/churchandotherdrugs churchandotherdrugs@gmail.com
I had high hopes to name this episode 'the 4 horsemen', BUT john couldn't make it, so I present for your listening pleasure..The 3 Amigos. Jed , Besh and Brad talk everything from Brad's unemployed depression to keeping the faith in a godless land (i.e. Portland). We also get into some old school drug stories from Jed and Brad's high school days.
...It's exactly what it sounds like. Welcome back Besh , the best disposable host a man could ask for, as he and Jed discuss whatever the hell is going on with kanye west, catch up on the world of drug counseling, then reminisce with some old-school drug stories. This turned out to be one of my favorite episodes, so just turn off your brain, relax, and enjoy the show. churchandotherdrugs.com churchandotherdrugs@gmail.com patreon.com/churchandotherdrugs
Hey hey! First, the news: a 2nd lawsuit among the By Chloe team (0:36), produce's "dirty dozen" (3:08), Necco Wafers flying off shelves (6:31), & Moby weighs in on SNAP (8:11). Next, 10 Q's for Alon Shaya on his upcoming restaurants in New Orleans (11:57) & Denver (20:17), creating a HR-friendly company culture post-Besh breakup/#MeToo (22:19), his new memoir/cookbook (26:55), & complete lack of self-control when eating pita (29:52). To close, comedian Holly Prazoff's killer tiki drink (35:07).
Holla! John and Jed start the episode off with Jed talking about his first drug education class, and how the years of digging in the depths of the internet reading about drugs has finally paid off. Then, we discuss how an MMA event helped Jed realize that mankind hasn't advanced in the slightest. Then, Besh and Jed interview Besh's home boy from back in the day, Rogers! AKA Stinky White Boy feet. Rogers was there slangin' dope in New Orleans with Besh waaay back in the day, and had a long hard road to sobriety. Rogers helps run Solstice Recovery today, and we'd love if you'd check them out and consider donating! Solsticerecovery.com churchandotherdrugs.com churchandotherdrugs@gmail.com @COtherdrugs
Besh and Jed ride this episode out, sans Jay. He's got the man-flu. They discuss the finer points in life, namely how Debesh is such a lousy C&OD fan that Jed has to EXPLAIN the 'Today I Learned' segment to him. Good grief, Charlie Brown. In the meat part of the episode sandwich, Jed and Besh get to talk to their old counselor, Jeffrey Dupuis! Jeffrey is a multi-talented counselor, holistic healer, and recently opened a suboxone clinic to combat heroin deaths in New Orleans. Jed and Besh had some serious questions about that, and Jeffrey is able to dispell myth and present a fine case for medication assisted recovery. Also...Besh doesn't know who Toto is. What. The. She's down-to-earth and open about her love for cooking as well as the real stresses of being HCIC (head chef in charge)! At the end of the episode, we also discussed the John Besh debacle, which as you may know, he was instrumental in the start and journey of her career. Chef Syrena did not hesitate to give her thoughts on the sexual harassment allegations involving Besh's company and the claim made against him personally. Chef Syrena, however, appears focused on taking care of her staff and continuing to help them become better everyday while making a living as cooks. Her name has made national news on several platforms given her amazing story of survival and MAJOR comeback after Hurricane Katrina. Visit her website to learn more about her and her amazing work in and out of the kitchen, especially how she gives back to local students in the community and those who work under her leadership. On this week's episode of our Everyday Emergency podcast, we meet Besh, a Kurdish asylum seeker living in London, UK. Besh and his family lived peacefully in a village just outside Mosul, raising livestock on their farm. In June 2014, everything changed. ISIS captured Mosul. The Iraqi army withdrew. And the militant group were headed straight for their village. Fleeing for their lives, Besh, his mother, and young brothers were forced to head for Turkey. After crossing the sea to Greece, the police separated the boys from their mother. What followed is an extraordinary journey across 70 camps in Europe, by a young man determined to reunite his family. "Everyday Emergency" is a podcast from MSF. In each episode, we bring you true stories from the frontline of humanitarian emergencies across the world. From the conflict in Syria to the refugee crisis in Europe, we’ll be talking to people with some incredible stories that may just change your outlook on life, or at least, for a moment, put things into perspective. In each podcast you’ll hear a true story written by an MSFer on the ground, read by an actor. We’ll then get them into the studio at MSF HQ for a chat about their time with MSF. On this week s Louisiana Eats , we join Chef John Besh in the Rouse s Culinary Innovation Center, located at the Southern Food and Beverage Museum, for a lesson in cooking up some oyster stew. This gathering of south Louisiana musicians and cooks draws in more and more attendees each year with its come one, come all hospitality. And stir your appetite for roux, rice, and gumbo with author Stanley Dry. Whether it s cooking for home or feeding a crowd of thousands, we ve got a real taste of the state on this week s Louisiana Eats Leroy s Oyster StewServes 6From Besh Big Easy 1 leek, white part, minced 3 cloves garlic, minced 1 tablespoon olive oil 1 large tomato, chopped 2 green onions, chopped Go To Pan Sauce see below Pinch dried thyme 3 dozen oysters, shucked and liquor reserved for Pan Sauce Tabasco Squeeze of lemon juice Salt and pepper Cook the leeks and garlic in the oil in a large saucepan over medium heat until softened, about three minutes. Add the tomatoes, green onions, oyster pan sauce and thyme, increase the heat to high and bring to a boil. Lower the heat to a simmer, add the oysters and cook just until they become firm and their edges begin to curl. Season with Tabasco, lemon juice, salt and pepper and stir to combine the flavors. Go To Oyster Pan SauceMakes about 3 cups The rich flavor of this stew comes from a simple oyster pan sauce. I make it by heating some olive oil in a skillet with a diced large onion, a minced fennel bulb, 4 minced garlic cloves, a heaping teaspoon each crushed red pepper flakes, thyme, and tarragon and 2 bay leaves. Once the vegetables have softened, I add 1 1 2 cups heavy cream, 1 1 2 cups dry vermouth and 3 cups oyster liquor or water. Increase the heat to high and reduce the sauce by half, about 15 minutes. Boo s Dirty Rice Jambalaya 2 lbs. Ground beef 1 lb. Chef John Besh Releases New Cookbook: Cooking from the Heart Just before Christmas I wrote an article about the new Besh Box initiative that Chef John Besh launched in November. The Besh Box is essentially a subscription-based, hand-picked gourmet cooking kit. You can read all about the Besh Box by clicking here: Chef John Besh's New Besh Box. But the Besh Box wasn't the only thing that John launched in November. He also released his third cookbook: Cooking from the Heart: My Favorite Lessons Learned Along the Way. John Besh is a local New Orleans boy, born and raised just east of here, in Slidell, LA. He is a successful restauranteur, running 8 restaurants in New Orleans and 1 in San Antonio. He is a recipient of the James Beard Award, a philanthropist, an author, a TV personality, a good Catholic, and a husband and father. John Besh is dedicated to his faith, to his family, to New Orleans and its culture and cuisine, to real food, to seasonal ingredients and to the message of the importance of families eating together around the table as often as possible. Full show notes are available at http://catholicfoodie.com.
Chef John Besh joins Andrew & Molly to discuss learning from mistakes in the kitchen, getting families back into the kitchen, and the amazing work he is doing with the John Besh Foundation. Plus, Andrew & Molly talk Halloween.
Today on Chef’s Story, host Dorothy Cann Hamilton is joined by New Orleans restauranteur, television personality, community activist and cookbook author John Besh. He discusses the historical significance of Louisiana foods and the collaboration of Creole and French cultures to create the indigenous New Orleans cuisine. Besh talks about his first culinary memories of family meals with rabbit and squirrel and his intrigue in the restaurant industry from an early age. He tells how his time in the military helped to shape his view of the culinary world and inspire him to lead a team in a positive and effective way. Besh looks back at the devastation of Hurricane Katrina and how the community came together over red beans and rice and the efforts to help those in need by employing hurricane affected residents and feeding those without food. Tune in as this James Beard Award winning chef and author talks about his journey to culinary stardom, his passion for local sourcing, and the importance of preserving the culinary history of New Orleans. This program was sponsored by Route 11 Potato Chips. “Creole is really a beautiful mixture, a cultural gumbo so to speak, of French, Spanish, African, German and Italian cuisines all thrown into this pot.” [6:44] “I was bitten by the restaurant bug early – I enjoyed bussing tables and coming to the kitchen early and preparing. It was pleasureable – I really enjoyed the interaction with people and the idea of food bringing people together and making everybody happy.” [18:33] “What the Marines gave me was an understanding of a mission. If the mission in this case is, as a cook, to set your station and be ready to serve your guest flawlessly, understanding that mission allows you to prioritize everything in your day.” [22:25] “Food is such a powerful tool – and it can be used for good! I found that out, and that’s what’s been driving me ever since.” [48:01] –chef John Besh on Chef’s Story
