TODAY'S HOMILY IN BRIEF. Prayer could be described as a means of communion and communication with God. According to Jesus Christ, the house of God, the temple, must be a place of prayer. We're God's temple, besides referring to the Church as God's temple. To this effect then, our hearts, the assembly of God's holy people as well as the physical church, must always be environment providing a condusive atmosphere for a holistic communion and communication with God. Hence, every moment of our existence becomes an an opportunity for us to constantly re-dedicate ourselves to God in humidity and purity. The way we choose to interpret the experiences that we have and the way that trauma is experienced in our body is different for everybody. We must be willing to look at the event, the interpretation, the experience, and the pain. We all have the ability to transmute that pain into something that is going to be fuel for our fire. - Jenna Phillips Ballard The Ultimate Metabolism Kit Save 20% with code "WELLNESSFORCE" on everyone's favorite Superfoods brand, ORGANIFI, including their Ultimate Metabolism Kit, Sunrise to Sunset Bundle + their Women's Power Stack that includes HARMONY + GLOW for true hormonal balance and great health radiating through your beautiful skin. Centered, Day 3By Jason Brown, from the book Centered: Trading Your Plans for a Life That MattersEver since First Fruits Farm began, anyone with any financial sense would look at our plans—plans we believe come straight from God—and then look at our bank accounts and say, “This doesn't add up. How do you expect to [fill in the blank] with what you have?” My wife and I look at each other and say, “By God's grace.” Our resources may be paltry, but we're tied to a kingdom with unlimited wealth and to a generous Father. That doesn't mean we squander what we have. We need to be good stewards of our resources. And yet those resources, no matter how well we manage them, seem never enough to do what God has asked us to do. But you know what? Everything we feel He's asked us to do, and everything for which we've gone to Him in prayer, has come to pass. Everything. When we needed two roosters, I offered up a simple prayer: “God, please help me find a couple of good roosters. Amen.” Not long after, on a trip into town, we found two roosters wandering along the side of the road. We've seen plenty of wildlife on our way to and from town: dogs, cats, raccoons, deer, even snakes. But never, ever, had I seen a stray rooster, much less two. “God blesses you in some strange ways,” a friend said of those roosters. “You shouldn't be surprised, seeing miracle after miracle.” Set foot on First Fruits Farm and you set foot on a miracle. Every rock, tree, and ripple of water, every squirrel and fish and bird, is a testament to God's holy power. The nature around us is a declaration of God's design. The fact that my family is able to enjoy that miracle—to walk through the fields, to gather chicken eggs, to pick fruit, to fish in the lake—is a witness of God's generosity. We're God's children. And like any good father, our heavenly Father wants the best for us. He wants to shower us with love and blessings that fit in His greater purpose. What evidence in your circumstances are proof of God's generosity in your life? How might those blessings reveal God's purposes for you? “Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!Matthew 7:9‭-‬11Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.Philippians 4:6

[00:00:03.130] - Speaker 1Hi there. My name is Preston Pouteaux. Welcome to the Lake Ridge Community Church Podcast. This is where we share some of our messages from Sunday mornings. So we're glad you're here to listen. We'd love for you to join us in person. We meet on Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m at Our Lady of Wisdom School here in Chestermere. At our core, we're a community of people, so we gather on on Sundays, but we also do a lot in the week together. We are people learning to follow Jesus and love our city. So to learn more, visit lakeridgecommunity.com. Hope to check in and visit with you soon. Take care. Thanks for listening.[00:00:43.440] - Speaker 2This is the funny part of the whole story. I really don't. I gave some really good spiritual advice to somebody that came back to me after they said that was some of the best advice I'd ever been given. And I was like, I am embarrassed and apologized because I have no idea what I said. Some of you remember this is probably three, maybe four years ago, but I had some really weird neurological nerve thing going on. And they put me on like, there's this drug, this drug. And then they found something from I don't know what corner of what street they found it on, but I was out of the moon. The joke in our house is, after I was better, thank you to a lot of prayer and care from a lot of people. I got better. And it was actually, I think it's miraculous that I did. And sometime later, my brother in law who lives in our basement, he goes, can you make those cinnamon buns again? I said, I've never made cinnamon buns in my life. He said, no, you made the best cinnamon buns we have ever had. Don't you remember?[00:01:39.450] - Speaker 2And everybody was just like, yeah, those were just phenomenal. And it was when I was high as a kite, I made these most amazing cinnamon buns. I don't even remember, and I've been asked to make them since. And I just don't want to go down that path again. Sometimes I think of that story because I had no idea what I was making when I was making it. I was not there when I was making this thing. I needed to bruise something up. And somehow out of me came this amazing cinnamon bun feast. I think my question for that, in sharing that, as we talk about a little bit about ingredients, we're going to weave some of these stories together is that sometimes we wonder, did God know what he was doing when he was making us? I don't want to really imply that God as high as the kite when he was making us, but sometimes if you read the Psalms, we get these stories of God's people saying, god, do you know what you're doing here? Do you know what you are making? We identify God that you created everything. And we love that you created everything.[00:02:49.500] - Speaker 2But when it comes to people, when it comes to us, we are a little bit mystified. Do you know what you are doing here? Are we, as humans, a cosmic mix up? Are we a mistake? Are we a fluke of nature? There are many philosophies out there that would say we sure are right. Humans are a big byproduct of some weird cosmic gas situation. There's nothing behind it. Enjoy the ride while you have it. Good. Well, it's a question that these writers ask in their anxiety about what it is to be human. In Psalm eight, we get a little bit of this. It's a psalm of David. It says this when I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars you set in place says, what are we, mere mortals? That you would think about them, human beings, that you should care for them. He takes a look at humans and he's wondering, what are these things? The world is so big, there's so much going on, and what's a human? We're mere mortals, we have a short lifespan. We're here and then we're gone. Maybe we pass some stuff onto our kids.[00:04:02.500] - Speaker 2But what is this about? Right? Do you know what you've made here? God? Maybe you're wondering this here today too. Maybe you enjoy a good existential crisis sometimes where you stop and lean back and say, what am I here for? What is this life about? What is it to be human? Do we just come here and we suffer a little bit and we're done? Do I work my job and try to save up enough for retirement, which disappears when I finally get there? What is this about? Well, the psalm cries a similar cry and then we read he goes on in it, the writer of this psalm, and it says this says, yet you made them a little lower than God and crowned them with glory and honor. You gave them charge of everything you made, putting all things under their authority. He tries to orient humans in God's big story. Humans are somehow not as low as worms. They aren't way down there, and they aren't as high as God. They're somewhere in between. They have been given by God this authority to occupy this middle space, higher than this, lower than this. Humans, the ancient songs say they have a place in God's world.[00:05:14.120] - Speaker 2Humans have a home here. And science would say that we live in this wee little thin layer around a planet that's spinning through cosmic space. If we go up a little higher, we will suffocate. If we go down below, we'll suffocate. But we're all happy, right, in this little layer, right? It's kind of weird when you step back with it. If this is too much for you, then you can go back to what a lot of us do, which is to say, I can't think about it. But these psalms, they unpack it. We stand above the soils and the minerals around us, but we are below the angels, who in turn belong to God. And this cry rings through what are we? Last week we asked, Where are we? And we learned about God finding God's people or finding this husband and wife, Adam and Eve, under the undergrowth and said, Where are you? I had to discover that. And in this, we wonder, along with all these before us, what are we? And so our big conversation that we're doing is we're going to ask these big questions about what it is to be human.[00:06:17.740] - Speaker 2Because what you believe about being human will shape your entire life. It will shape everything you do. Your perceived origin story, where you came from, your place in the vast universe and all that we can and cannot do. It will utterly form us. And it could make us hide under a rock and shake in fear or step out boldly into this life. I think we have one beautiful life to live. And I think in Jesus we can step out in a beautiful way. So into this whole vast story comes Jesus, who shows us and demonstrates to us not only what it is to be human, but he reframes everything in a way that we can see ourselves, others and our creator with. This resounding proclamation that humans, the very ones standing in front of him, every human he met, that they can know who they are and whose they are. We are not going around with our eyes closed, blind, but we are stepping in as followers of Jesus with a huge capacity to step into life as a full human. Jesus lays out the foundation for the quest for humanity and for purpose by becoming a human.[00:07:32.300] - Speaker 2And to show us how. I want to share just a few things here as to what we are. What we are. There's three really basic biblical principles that we stand on that often goes in contrast to what the world around us might tell us. And if we had even just these three to wake up to every morning, we would be on a good start. For something that I'm going to share here that I think Jesus does in us. And it's this number one, we are God's handiwork. We are his beautiful creation. He made us like a sculptor, make something he loves. But this is a living creation that super surpasses anything. I've been online playing with AI a little bit. Has anybody been playing with this stuff? You can ask a computer to say things and it sounds almost human, right? You can ask it to make art and it sounds almost human. But we are his handiwork. All these things are just trying to mimic what a human can do. Ephesians 210 says this for we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus. To do good works which God prepared in advance for us to do.[00:08:41.890] - Speaker 2Christians start here. We start by declaring that we are God's design, made by God and in God's creative and abundant love. God made us where's handiwork his workmanship. We are owned by someone in his imagination. He thought of us and said this is just perfect. I want to make this. And creators are proud of what they made. Doesn't matter what it goes through. They are proud of what they made. And they look and they say this is good. And when God is proud of us, it means that he also has a purpose for us, even if we don't always see what that is. So we are God's handiwork number 1. Second, we are dependent on God. Humans have this amazing they occupy an amazing, unique place in the animal world. We are not like all the other animals. And I looked at scientists are trying to figure out why are humans so different from all the other animals? And humans have this amazing capacity to see themselves from outside. And philosophers, they say that humans can see themselves from outside. I actually saw a video of a bear. They had put up a mirror in a forest and this bear came around the corner and saw the mirror and just freaked out on it, right?[00:10:04.860] - Speaker 2Smashing it, going around behind it, wondering where the bar is, just not aware that it's just a mirror, right? We as humans, we can see ourselves from outside. And the more we see ourselves from outside, the more we get to actually see what it is we are made of. We like a pantry. We get to see and make sense and go, I'm made of this. This is inside of me. I have this capacity. And the more philosophers call this openness to the world. It is the ability for humans to have this amazing capacity for seeing so much in the future, in the past, in the present. And by having this huge expansive view, christian philosophers actually say then we must have someone who understands what this big burden is that we carry. We can think and dream and participate in the world. But guess what? We realize that for all that we are made of, we have not found something to fulfill us yet. You too? I still haven't found what I'm looking for. Right? We are longing for something. This huge expanse of imagination has only brought us to a place where we go.[00:11:09.660] - Speaker 2It's not found here. What I'm looking for isn't found here. It's not found at the mall, it's not found on the internet. And if you live long enough, guys like Solomon write great books that say, listen, I tried it all. I've had hundreds of wives. It's still not found there, right? And in the end, we wonder at this great sense of purposelessness. Even though we have the super ability to look at the meaning of it. All right? Humans are caught here. We see how in vain it is that we only have the short life and yet we long still for meaning. St. Augustine, he says this our hearts are restless until they find rest in thee, O God. We are made to be dependent on God. We are humans who are God's handiwork, and we need God for our purpose in life. These are the two foundations. We're God's handiwork, and we are dependent on God for our purpose. You can deviate from it. He'll follow you wherever you go looking for your purpose. He followed Solomon and he's like, Boy, that's a lot of wives. There my boy. But if I get 100 more, maybe okay, I'll be here in the end when you write your book saying it's all purposeless until I find God.[00:12:26.020] - Speaker 2Last one. We have a valuable origin story. We have been in our family. We have recently found out more information about Kelly's biological father. And it has been exciting. We are like we have learned more little tidbits of information that are weaving us to interesting distant family relatives. And we discovered, like this auntie. She's lovely. We even went to the same college, Kelly's biological auntie and I. And we're just like a little bit of this little origin story. A little taste of this origin story has brought some joy to us, and it's exciting. But imagine if we know our origin story in God. Imagine if we had an origin story that the Creator made us. Stan Grenz, he says that knowing our origin story comes from God. It does two things in us. It says that I am not the author of my story. Somebody else dreamed this story. Somebody else imagined how this story would go. That's number one. And number two, that we have meaning. That you are made to connect with your Creator, to have purpose, direction and resolve for your life. That being human means having value. Everyone wants to say what you're worth and what you do with your life.[00:13:42.220] - Speaker 2But having an origin story in God means that you know your value and your story is in God's hands. So these are the three quite unique Christian proclamations about being human and what we are made of. One, you are God's handiwork, you're dependent on God, and you have an origin story that gives you great value. When those three are held in our eyes and we meet Jesus, something profound happens in that because Jesus shows us how all those three things come alive in us. So Christian anthropology makes some really bold claims here. A Christian view of being human makes some very bold claims here. And either we believe those claims or we don't. There's really no easy middle ground there. Oftentimes in our faith we go, I'm kind of Christian in my worldview, actually. Our worldview needs to hold those things quite up and test stuff against it and say, Am. I really God's handiwork? Can I really depend on him? Does he really provide for me? And does my origin story start there? Or am I trying to write my own story every day? Couple words. Barra is the Hebrew word for create God.[00:15:00.210] - Speaker 2Bara everything. God created everything. All of the stuff that you are made of, the periodic table of elements, physics, chemistry, biology, that is God's creative work. Barra. But there's another word that comes a little bit after this. God created you. And you might believe this, and this alone might be your anthropology, that God started you and created you, your belief about humans and God in the created world. So what, God made me, and a lot of Christians stop here with bara. God creates you. You go, thanks. I'm here, I breathe. Now I'm going to find my own way. But there's another word. It's a word called ASA, and it means made. God made you. Did you know that when a child is born, it isn't that God creates the child? God created the mother and everything that made the child, and God created but God made the child. The child was formed in the mother's womb, right? Psalm 121 two says, my help comes from the Lord who made heaven and earth. It says God created everything, but here it's saying God made it. And this word is like an ongoing word. It means to make.[00:16:20.850] - Speaker 2He's making heaven and earth. God created everything and now he's in the business of upgrading it kind of like I talked about with the kids. God created all of the ingredients and now he's cooking, now he's making. Now he's bringing life to these ingredients and he is active in this. The word is assa. God made the heavens and the earth. This helping Lord, my help comes from the Lord who made heavens and the earth. My helping Lord, he is a maker to the present tense. He is ongoing in this making work. Not just back then, not once, not when you were born, not when your great grandparents were born, but he is ongoing in this making work. God's doing more than just great heaven and earth. He is he's building it up. He's mixing these raw ingredients. Humans are made in the image of God. Assa in the image of God. We are being made into the image of God. There was a moment in my story that's my hardest moment, my hardest moment. I've shared the story before, and I only share it once in a while because sometimes when you dig into a hard moment, you're like, I don't really want to go back there.[00:17:36.100] - Speaker 2It was a moment that some of you have heard about, but I was married before Kelly, and I was married for three years, and my wife had a series of affairs that just destroyed me. I was utterly undone. I lost my humanity in that. I lost £40. Everything I thought was true about me, that God has a plan for me, that God knows me, that God I'm His handiwork. No, that was all undone in this betraying experience. I was deeply hurt. And I remember one day I'll just tell the story for what it is. But I remember one day I stood I was in a basement street in Calgary where I was living, and I was a pastor and new pastor at this church. And I was just thinking of seeing everything disappear, even myself. I just wanted to shrivel up under the weight of this undoing. I remember I had one hand on this old dresser and another hand on this old dresser. I was standing there, and it's maybe the only time in my life that I've almost perhaps heard the voice of God. And this is what I heard. Preston, I am making you.[00:18:43.260] - Speaker 2I am making you. In this moment of my deepest undoing, I am encountering a God who is making me. Did you know that that's what I needed to hear more than anything else in my deep sorrow was that God was making me? That I wasn't just created and left to spin off into this world alone, but that I was being made by a God who sees me and knows how all the pieces go together. He knows the recipe. He knows how life comes to Preston. I am his handiwork. And he wasn't about to abandon his handiwork when I was needing the Creator the most. And he came close to me, and I believe he spoke to me. I am making you. What are you being made into today? I thought I was a worm. I thought this might be true. I thought I could maybe learn it in a book. But I was pretty educated at that time. But what I needed was I needed the presence of Jesus Himself to come to me and whisper into my heart what is true about me. My making and forming and being made is in Jesus. It is in a person.[00:19:55.160] - Speaker 2Not a philosophy of something that happened a long time ago, but it's something that is happening right now. He let me borrow his life in my moment when I did not know that I had anything going on. He said, Come and be in me. My life will be yours. The scriptures unpack this that we borrow the very make wholeness of Jesus. He is whole and complete as a human, and we get to enter into his wholeness and be made whole in Him. Two Corinthians 318 it says this and the Lord, who is Spirit, makes us more and more like Him. As we are changed into his glorious image, he is making us into what he looks like. I was a worm, and Jesus says that he wants to make me look like Him. I can't plan that I'm being made into Him. Not to be anxious or cynical or bitter or vindictive. And let me tell you, for 2 hours after I got the worst news in my life, I had 2 hours where I was not following Jesus. 2 hours where I made a master plan to go my own way, to tell my own story, to be my own strength, to figure my own way through.[00:21:16.830] - Speaker 2And in those 2 hours, Jesus, he impressed on me that he has never left me. And in those 2 hours, I made a decision that I would be formed into his image. And guess what? It took some time, but guess what I was able to do in the weeks following? I was able to forgive a person that hurt me a great deal. It was a sign that I was being made into the human that God imagined me to be. To begin to be formed into the likeness of Christ. To not carry the cynicism, the anger, the bitterness, the shame, the rage, all the things that were bubbling inside of me. I was being formed into Christ. Even in my darkest time, Jesus was betrayed too. He was sold out by a friend. He was sold out by Judas. He was denied by Peter, and all of his followers fled. If you and I were there, we wouldn't be there. We'd have been like what? Is that the way? Is that the door? We're going there. And I did that too. For two solid hours, I was out of the room until he found me. Jesus was there, alone and dehumanized on a cross, tortured and nailed to a tree.[00:22:32.820] - Speaker 2I want to end with this. The most beautiful words that Jesus shared as Jesus. This man, God come man to live in the world of all of the brokenness, who knew that every human he met was God's handiwork, that they were each dependent on God, that they had this valuable origin story. He knew all that inherently because he was the one who great gave it. And there he hung on the cross, dying a criminal's death. And he said this word when he died. His last words on the cross was this teta lisa tai which is the Greek word assa. It is finished. I made it. I did it on the cross. Jesus finishes making his people on the cross. He says, Ay, they are now complete. These people that I made in my image, I made them. And their completion is now full in me because I took on everything that is broken about them and it is in me now. That means they can live, is finished. I wonder if Jesus took his last breath as one of great pride, to feel like he was able to finish something that he started. That no sin, shame, brokenness and death would come between Him and his people anymore.[00:24:00.900] - Speaker 2That he created them. But now he made them done. Humans are done. They are whole. They are complete. When he rises from the dead, the job is over right now. You might be sitting here today and wondering. I don't feel that the goal isn't for you to sometimes feel it, but the goal isn't for you to the goal isn't for you to convince God to finish something he didn't ever finish. The goal is for you to accept what he already did for you. I finished you. I finished you. You are whole and complete. I made you. You are done. You can now be a new creation in me. All those things that cling to you to say you are undone, to say that you need to spend your life striving for some sort of career, for some sort of becoming a better parent, for becoming richer, for whatever it is you are pursuing after and going, I'm incomplete and I'm looking for these things. Jesus is saying, I finished. You already come live in me. Everything you are looking for your happiness, for your joy, for your purpose, how to live this one and beautiful life, it's fulfilled in me.[00:25:21.100] - Speaker 2I live in you and you live in me. And when you do, you get to be the complete human. You don't have to live with the cynicism and the anger and the fear anymore. You can leave that and let me show you even more and even more and even more. Our humanity is now bound in his, and it is the greatest gift I think we can give. It is the good news of the gospel, is that our humanity finds its completion in him. What are we? We are made and done in Christ and the Lord, who is Spirit, makes us more and more like Him and we are changed into his glorious image. Paul says in Psalm 22 31 says his righteous acts will be told to those not yet born and they will hear about everything he has done. Jesus, it is done. Amen. Heavenly Father, thank you that you have completed something. You created the world and then you made Jesus, who welcomes us, to be done in him too. To be completed, to be made to made whole. All the broken pieces are wrapped up in you. I pray for these my friends who have this one and beautiful life.[00:26:44.430] - Speaker 2I pray that they would discover what it is to be made in you, to be completed in you, to make their lives in you. And all the things that my friends in this room, these followers of Jesus along with me, are longing for in this life, this one and beautiful and good life, all the things they are pursuing, that are giving them anxiety, that are keeping them up at night, that are making them turn to all sorts of things that are into you. I pray that in that moment, as they grip onto the sides of their dressers, that they would know that you are making each and every one of them too, that they are not undone, but they are being made and that they can trust you with every step of the making, even if it hurts. Make us. Amen. Please stand with me. I did a funeral on Saturday, and it wasn't for I hope I'm not giving much away here. I might regret saying this, but it wasn't for a family that was explicit about their hope in Jesus. And throughout the whole time, I was giving the homily and all these things, and the family asked me to kind of stay in my lane.[00:28:04.050] - Speaker 2Right. I'm a Christian pastor, so they want at least a bit of me, but not all of me. Sorry I'm being crass, but I want to just scream out the hope of Jesus. I just wanted to just yell out and say, do you know there's great hope here? This person who has passed away, guess what? They are in the hands of someone who made them, who loves them, and so are all of you. This is not hopeless. This is good. May Lord bless you and keep you. May Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you. May Lord lift up his countenance upon you and grant you his peace. You are his handiwork. You can depend on him. And your story begins and ends with the One who dreamed you up and holds you in his imagination even now. Amen. Amen. Go peace, my friends. Have a good week. We'll see you next week here. Bless you all. Bye.

Bible Reading: Jeremiah 29:13; Matthew 7:8; 11:28-30; James 4:8 Sara and Mom left church and headed out to Uncle Dan and Aunt Susan's farm for lunch. Sara couldn't wait to meet her cousin's new pygmy goats! On the way, Mom asked Sara what her Sunday school class had discussed that morning."We talked about worship," Sara said. "Mrs. Taylor told us that God created us to worship Him. We worship when we go to church, right?"Before Mom could answer, they'd arrived. Sara's cousin Charlie ran to the car. "Come meet Max and Mavis!" He grabbed Sara's hand and led her inside a fenced area next to the barn. "Sit still and they might come over," Charlie said. He sat next to Sara on the grass. The two small goats jumped in the air, ran around the yard, and butted heads in a play battle. At first, they ignored the cousins, but eventually Mavis came close enough for Sara to stroke her back. Then she went off to climb a wooden platform. "They're so cute," Sara told Charlie."Yeah," agreed Charlie. "I love it when they come over and let me pet them. I just wish they did that more often!" He grinned. "Don't they know I feed them, fill their water dish, and clean up their messes?" They laughed. Charlie sounded like a parent. On the way home, Mom brought up the topic of worship. "I think God feels a little like Charlie does with his goats," she said."What do you mean?" asked Sara."Charlie cares for his goats. He makes sure they have everything they need, and he loves it when they come to him. It's similar to us as Christians. We're God's children. He loves us and provides for us, and He wants us to enjoy being in His presence every day.""I guess worshiping God only on Sundays is kind of like Mavis only letting me pet her for two seconds," said Sara.Mom nodded. "Worship is something we do at church, but it can also be anything we do with an awareness of Jesus's love and presence and a desire to serve Him. That's where we find true joy.""Maybe we could read the Bible together before bed," suggested Sara. Mom nodded. "That's a great way to spend time with God!" -Bonnie CarrHow About You?Did you know that God wants to spend time with you? Praying, reading the Bible, talking about God with your family and friends--these are just some of the ways you can spend time in Jesus's presence. As Christians, we have a relationship with Jesus, and that means we can talk with Him, serve Him, and worship Him every day. When you think of the idea of being predestined, do you consider that makes us robots? Hey, I'm Mike Henry Sr. with Follower of One. Thanks for joining me again today on the Follower of One Podcast. As we continue to enjoy God, let's read verses 15 and 16 from Psalm 139.  "My bones were not hidden from you when I was made in secret, when I was formed in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw me when I was formless; all my days were written in your book and planned before a single one of them began."  That's from the Christian Standard Bible. I mentioned predestination or predetermination. I have not prepared to talk in great detail about this. But this very clearly states that God thought of us. We're God's idea and not just mankind, but each of us individually. The Psalmist is very specific here. And either the Bible is wrong or we learn about God in this passage. If God knew us before we were born, before we even became to be, if our days were written in his book and planned before a single one of them began, that makes God very powerful. He knows all of this. And yet he still carved out this space where we're free to choose. Today you and I can choose to follow him or not. We can choose to listen to his Holy Spirit and do things for other people so that Jesus might become visible. Or not.  We have an opportunity to take part in this grand, rescue that's taking place in our globe. God is saving a people for himself and the people who are alive today are potential prospects in that salvation. We have the opportunity to live as if we're saved because we are; because we have the holy spirit living in us. And then we get to take part in this temporal life with all these other friends and we can help them see Jesus too. This is a big responsibility when we consider that all of our days were written in God's book and planned before a single one of them began. It doesn't take us out of the game. It makes us pay attention to our original orders, our original papers.  What were you created to do? We were created to know God and love him. We were also created to be a husband or a wife or a father or a son or daughter. We were created to be in a family and in a community and to make a difference. You were ordained into your present job, into your present situation. And you can choose today to take that role and do something with it. We've been given this opportunity that God of the universe handcrafted us each for our present situation.  1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 says "Rejoice always. Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." Read the context, check out that passage. Our present situation is God's will for us in Christ, Jesus. How powerful is that?  We get to take part in whatever God has for us, from right where we are today. We don't have to get somewhere else or be somewhere else. The next person that you see is someone that God would love for you to minister to, someone that you can pray for. The next person that you see is someone that you can bless because God created them too. This is our opportunity as Christ followers. We get this chance to take part in this grand rescue of a lost people. Thank you for being a marketplace minister. Thank you for considering how your life fits into God's overall plan. One way you can do that is by punching in. Just tell God, "Okay, God, here I am. What would you have me do next?" And God will put you to work in his kingdom.  Thanks for being a marketplace minister. Also take a minute and check out our online community. How do you see yourself? Beautiful? Plain? Average? Ugly? When you read God's Word and see, “We are His workmanship,” how does it make you feel? Do you feel loved and cherished? Or, does your heart feel defeated like it's not true? Today is for you ever struggle with self-image. Maybe you've asked yourself, “Why did God make me like this?” Ever said, “I'm broken or ugly.” Self-image is the mental image we have of ourselves. Not how others see us but how we see ourselves. When I was a kid in the 80s, Blonde hair and blue eyes were the popular pretty people of which I wasn't one. I felt ugly and boring with my brown hair and brown eye, and I wished I wasn't born like that. This self-image seeped into my adult years and affected how I showed up and the confidence I felt-lack of it. Romans 9:20b AMP Will the thing which is formed say to him who formed it, “Why have you made me like this?” That was me for years. One focus of these podcasts is teaching you how to show up fully yourself so you can fulfill your God-given purpose. We can't show up fully ourselves if we don't like who we are. And, we won't be able to live a fulfilling and prosperous life filled with purpose–the purpose our Heaven Father put in our hearts to fulfill with this mindset. Ephesians 2:10 AMP For we are His workmanship [His own masterwork, a work of art], created in Christ Jesus [reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, ready to be used] for good works, which God prepared [for us] beforehand [taking paths which He set], so that we would walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us]. It's so easy to see ourselves as broken creatures. We're not perfect, but we're God's masterwork, a work of art. Masterpiece is an artist's finest, greatest work. Mona Lisa or Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci David or Sistine Chapel by Michelangelo That's us! We're God's greatest work of art. How do you treat a masterpiece? Shove it in storage? Then you don't realize your actual value Place it on display and treat it with the love and respect it deserves. We need to believe it and treat ourselves like we are. How can you believe and treat yourself like the masterpiece you are? Start with your Creator: What does He say about you? Here are a few verses to get you started: Jeremiah 29:11 Ephesians 2:10 1 Peter 4:10-11 Romans 8:15 2 Timothy 1:7 What is your favorite verse(s) that reveals your true self? Write it out on a 3x5 card and read it daily. Let's learn to believe in and treat ourselves as who we truly are! A Masterpiece. Once surrendered to God, our attempts at denying Him only lead to greater inner turmoil. We're God's temples and, whilst we may ‘cold shoulder' Him, we can't ignore His presence. Many of our faith struggles are a consequence of our unwillingness or inability to choose obedience. Yet let's not allow shame to distract us, for shame is only ever a tool provoking greater self-absorption and draws our gaze away from God.

The assumption of the wish fulfilled is the ship that carries you over the seas to your dream. To your subconscious mind, anything you can imagine is experienced as solid reality. As Neville Goddard says, in The Power of Awareness, "The future must become the present in the imagination of the one who had wisely and consciously create circumstances. We must translate vision into Being, thinking of into thinking from. Imagination must center itself in some state and then view the world from that state. Thinking from the end is an intense perception of the world of fulfilled desire." See yourself where we want to be and then be there. Have a goal and then see yourselves already having accomplished that goal. "Thinking from the end is an intense perception of the world of fulfilled desire." You have already achieved your goal. Ask yourself, are you thinking from the end or are you thinking of the end? If you're thinking of the end, you're thinking it's way out there. If you're thinking from the end, you're part of it. The end result has already happened in our mind. We're creative beings. We're God's highest form of creation. We can create in our consciousness the kind of person we want to be and then be that person. "We must translate vision into Being." So we don't just visualize it. Be it! You decide at a deep level what your future will be. Every thought which comes to you is like a tiny fork in your path. When a fork in your path appears, you make a choice. Are purpose and suffering related? Let's talk about that today.  Hi, I'm Mike Henry with Follower of One. Welcome back to the Follower of One Podcast. Thanks for joining us. "Purpose" and "suffer" are very close together in this passage that I want to read today.  We're talking about 1 Peter 2:21. "For you have been called for this purpose since Christ also suffered for you leaving you an example for you to follow in his steps." That's from the New American Standard Bible "Purpose" and "suffer" are very close together in this passage. And it doesn't matter which translation you read. Almost all use the same words Jesus suffered for us. Suffering is the path to Jesus' purpose. Many of us don't like to hear this. God puts his people in a position to suffer from time to time, so the world can see how it's done. We're God's strategy. Our job is to live and experience the same things that everyone else does but to do so following Jesus, trusting him and doing what he says.  Jesus left us an example. He suffered for us and he didn't deserve it. He's God. So today might be a quick episode for you because I want to challenge you to think about your day. What will you experience? How might you end up suffering today? When we can mentally reconcile with our purpose in Jesus and the suffering that he may call us to do, he will use us. The key is, can we trust him? Can we trust God with the injustice that we face today? Maybe it's a bad boss or an unreasonable customer. The bad bosses were mentioned in the episodes before this.  I must give a caveat too because I'm certainly not suggesting that you stay in a difficult or illegal situation. If it's in your power to do something, or if the other person is violating the law, use good judgment. But in our first-world kind of work context, if you are micromanaged or if others don't respect you or treat you the way you wish they would, or if you get passed up for a promotion, maybe Jesus is reminding you what he did for you. In the next episode, we'll talk about the role of trust in all of this too. Today, we want to remember that we've been called for a purpose. God saved us. And the blessings of our salvation, we get some of them now, and we get some of them later. But the blessings of our salvation are something that we experience in a broken world, a world that we broke. We're in this world, and our job is to make God visible in it. And sometimes he calls us to suffer to fulfill his purpose. We have been called for this purpose. That's a dangerous, challenging thought, but for some of us, our purpose is to suffer some today, because we follow Jesus. And we can make him visible. Thank you for being a marketplace minister. Thank you for listening to our podcast and sharing it with your friends. I know this isn't a particularly attractive episode of the podcast, but it is a reminder to us that we're part of a bigger battle. We're part of a bigger story. Our job is to listen to Jesus and do what he says. And when we do that, we get to take part in his work. We get to help other people move one notch closer to him. And every time we do that, we experience joy. There's joy and peace and love that we experience when we listen to God and do what he says.  Join us in the Follower of One Online Community. Neville Goddard's book The Power of Awareness, uses simple words and sentences to describe very deep and profound concepts of personal growth. The word Assumption is most often used in theater. It is assuming a role. Becoming the character whom you wish to portray. An actor imagines every aspect of the character's personality, behavior and values, and becomes that person. The power of assumption is monumental and life-changing. Become the person who is the future YOU, the person who has achieved the goal, fulfilled the wish, and is a new person. As Neville Goddard says, in The Power of Awareness, "The future must become the present in the imagination of the one who had wisely and consciously create circumstances. So I'm going to go over a continuation of our spiritual piece of our pie. I really wanted to talk through something I talked about in the last episode, episode 15, about our spiritual piece of the pie and where I referenced, focusing on who God says that I am. And I wanted to go through some of these things, because I think it's important to, if you're not used to using the words in the Bible, the truth in the Bible of who God says that you are, then this could actually change your life. So I'm just going to start off by going through some of the words that I wrote down. And I read to myself every single morning for almost a year so that I could remind myself of the truth so that my mind would be transformed and be perseverating on the truth versus the lies. And this made up stories that we tell ourselves. So who does God say that you are? What does God say about you? And how can you see yourself as God sees you in the scriptures? What is your true identity in Christ? Jesus? So here's some of the things. Here's what I want you to say to yourself. I am loved. I am worthy. I am purposed. I am his, I belong. I am called. I am chosen. I am royalty. I am an heir. I am accepted. I am adopted. I am fearfully and wonderfully made. I am created in his image. I am redeemed. I am restored and renewed and refined. I am saved. I am forgiven. I am transformed. I am valuable. I am spirit filled. I am powerful. I am mighty. I am strengthened. I am able, I am free. I am sealed and delivered. I am faithful. I am a friend of Jesus. I am full of peace. I am lavished by grace, a child of light. I am Holy and righteous. I'm a Saint, a steward, a servant and a soldier. I'm a witness and a worker. I am victorious. I'm a citizen of heaven. I'm no longer a slave to sin. I'm an ambassador for Jesus. I'm set apart and sanctified. I'm a special possession. I'm made new. I'm anointed. I'm triumphed. I'm joined with the Lord. I'm one with him in spirit. I am blameless before God. I am God's workmanship. I am blessed and favored. I'm covered protected. I am safe on salt of the earth, light of the world. I'm completely forgiven. I'm a temple of the Holy spirit. I am bold, courageous, confident I am above and not beneath the head and not the tail. I am more than a conqueror and an overcomer. I'm justified by grace. I'm a quit. I'm rescued. I'm complete. I am whole, I am healed. I am far from oppression. I will not live in fear. Belonged to him. I'm intricately woven. I am seated in high places. I'm raised up with Christ. I'm made alive in Christ. I've given access to the father. I'm a member of the body. I'm a member of God's household. I am given hope. I am given faith. I am given peace. I am given mercy. Okay. So I don't know about you, but if I read these things to myself every single day, and I'm reminded of all of those things, I don't know how you can't walk with your head up and shoulders back and chest out and walk powerfully. And in the authority and dominion that he has given us. Those are powerful things that God says about that about us. And Ephesians is one of the best places to go to read through what God says about you. Uh, in Ephesians four, he says things like I can mature spiritually. I can be certain of God's truth. I can have a new attitude and a new lifestyle in Ephesians five and six. He says things like, I can honor God through my marriage. I can parent my child with composure. I have God's power. I can stand firm in the face of evil. Okay. So I, again, just wanting to give you some of these things that I wrote down and you don't have to write down all of these things, but certainly I don't know about you, but before your feet hit the floor in the mornings, if you read through all of these things out loud, number one, what you profess with your mouth is real and it's powerful. And also why not just shake up the devil and let the devil know, Hey, I'm getting ready to get up. And my feet hit the floor and I am God's warrior. Okay. I'm God's woman of God. And I am all those things that I just shouted out loud. Here's another couple of things. So there's a lot of places in the new Testament, Ephesians Romans, uh, John, and first John Corinthians, Galatians, Philippians Colassians Timothy Corinthians. I think I said that first and second Corinthians, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Those are all, some great places to find yourself in how God sees you and how it is confirmed by the truth of scripture. Some other places in the old Testament are going to be Proverbs, Proverbs 31. I think all of you guys probably know that Proverbs 31 is related to, you know, you've heard about the Proverbs 31 woman. So I'm just going to read a little bit of the Proverbs 31 women, because this kind of also speaks to eludes to who it is that God says that you are so a good, woman's hard to find and worth far more than diamonds. Her husband trusts her without reserve and never has a reason to regret it. Never spiteful. She treats him generally all her life long. She shops around for the best yarns and cottons and enjoys knitting and sewing. She's like a trading ship that sails to far away places and brings back exotic surprises. She's up before Dawn preparing breakfast for her family and organizing her day. She looks over a field and buys it. Then with the money she's put aside, she plants a garden. First thing in the morning, she dresses for work, rolls up her sleeves, eager to get started. She senses the worth of her work and is in no hurry to call it quits for the day. She's skilled in the craft and of home and heart diligent and homemaking. She's quick to assist anyone in need. She reaches out to help the poor. She doesn't worry about our family. When it snows though, their winter clothes are all mended and ready to wear. She makes her own clothing and dresses and clubs, colorful, linens, and selves. Her husband's greatly respected it. And when he deliberates with the city fathers, she designs gallons and sells and bring sweaters. She nits to the dress. Shop. Her clothes are well-made and elegant. She's always faces tomorrow with a smile. When she speaks, she has something worthwhile to say, and she always says it kindly. She keeps an eye on everyone in our household and keeps them all busy and productive. Her children respect and bless her. Her, her, her husband joins in with words of praise. Many women have done wonderful things, but you have outclassed them. All charm can mislead. And beauty soon fades the woman to be admired. And praise is the woman who lives in the fear of God. So she's, God-fearing give her everything she deserves. And I Dorn her life with praises. So I think that some of us are overwhelmed sometimes when we read this about, Oh my goodness, this was like an amazing woman. And certainly she is, but we are the Proverbs 31 women. We are this woman and it doesn't mean we have to be perfect and do all these things, but we are blessed. We are admired. We are respected. We are treating people with kindness. You know, we are going to work, whether it's in our homestead where we're the CEO of our own home, or we are, have a career that we are bringing home, the bread, the bacon giving part of the finances. Maybe some of us own some of our own businesses. Maybe some of us own some of our side, a side hustle. So we're doing these things and these things point to some of those declarations that I just went through. Uh, another place to look is Psalms one Oh three so quickly. I want to read through this one. And these are all messaged, translations. All my soul. Bless God from head to toe. All bless his Holy name. All my soul. Bless God. So don't forget a single blessing. He forgives your sins. You're forgiven. He heals your diseases. Every one you're healed. He redeemed you from hell. He saves your life. You're redeemed and saved. He crowns you with love and mercy. Aperitifs crown. You are royalty. He wraps you in goodness, beauty, eternal. He renews your youth. You are renewed. You're always young in his presence. God makes everything come out, right? He puts the victims back on their feet. You're victorious. He showed Moses how he went about his work, opened up his plans to all Israel. You have wisdom and discernment. God is sheer mercy and grace not easily angered. He's rich in love. He, you are loved. He doesn't endlessly, nag and schooled or nor hold grudges forever. He doesn't treat us as our sins deserve nor pay us back in full of our wrongs. As high as heaven is over earth. So strong. It's his love to those who fear him. We're God-fearing and we're strengthened by him. And as far as sunrises from sunset, he has separated us from our sin. As parents feel for their children. God feels for those who fear him. He knows us inside and out for. He knows the plans that he has for us. That's in Jeremiah 29 11. He keeps us in mind that we're made of mud. He created us in his image by his own hints. Men and women don't live very long, like wild flowers. They spring up in blossom, but a storm snuff them out just as quickly leaving nothing to show. They were here. We are destined for higher places where we're seated in high places. God's love though is ever an always eternally present to all who fear him, making everything right for them and their children. As they follow his covenant ways and remember to do whatever he said, God has set, had set his throne in heaven. We are seated in high places. He rules over all of us, the Lord, God omnipotent reigns. And we are adopted by him. We are in air to his kingdom. He's the King. So bless God. You angels ready and able to fly at his bid and quick to hear and do what he says. Bless God. All you armies of angels alert to respond to whatever he will bless God, all creatures, wherever you are, everything. And everyone made by God and you. Oh my soul. Bless God. That was Psalms one Oh three with my interjections of some of these declarations that we just read. Okay. And then finally, what I want to point out is Psalms 91. This one has kind of helped me set fast through the whole COVID situation. When I was trying to keep my hospital safe and I'm making decisions that impacted patients and staff. So Psalms 91, you who sit down and the God in high God's presence spend the night and it should eyes shadow. Say this God, you're my refuge. He's our safe place I trust in you. And I'm safe. That's right. He rescues you from hidden traps. We are rescued shields. You from deadly hazards. We are covered in protected his huge outstretched arms protect you under them. You're perfectly safe. His arms bent off all harm, fear, nothing not while Wilson, the night not flying arrows in the day. Not disease that prowess of the darkness, not disaster that erupts at high noon, even though other succumb all around drop like flies, right? And left, no harm will even graze you. You are more than a conqueror. You'll stand untouched. Watch it all from a distance. Watch the wicked turn into corpses. Yes, because God's your refuge. The high God, your very own home evil can not get close to you. Harm can not get through that door. He ordered his angels to guard you wherever you go. If you stumble, they'll catch you. Their job is to keep you from falling. You'll walk unharmed among lions and snakes and kick young lions and serpents from the pack. If you'll hold onto me for dear life says, God, I'll get you out of any trouble. I'll give you the best of care. If you'll only get to know and trust me, call me and I'll answer be at your side at that in bad times, I'll rescue you. Then throw you a party. I'll give you a long life. I'll give you a long drink of salvation. So that Psalms 91 also is another way that it confirms all of these declarations that are in the new Testament about who God says we are. And if we're created in God's image, then everything that you know about God should be a new revelation about yourself. How deep is that? Think about that. If we're made in God's perfect image, then every new revelation we have about God, our father should be a new revelation about who we are. We're made in his image sisters. So if we're made in his image, then every revelation I have about him is about me. It's about you. So I want you to be encouraged today. I want you, if you have not done this exercise, I plead with you. I challenge you to write down the declarations about the I AMS that God says about you. And if you need to start in place, start in Ephesians, write down those declarations that God says about you and read them out loud before your feet hit the floor every single day, just do it for the next 30 days. And then I dare you to come back to me and say that you don't feel more empowered. You don't feel more strengthened. You don't feel more, uh, than a conqueror. So sisters, I always say, encourage you to go read the word in whatever translation it is that you read from, uh, in John, one, one, it says in the beginning was the word and the word was with God. And the word was God. So that's why, when I'm referring to Ephesians, for example, I know that Paul wrote the letter to Ephesians and the words are from Paul, but I read from scripture. And so when I look at the word, the truth, uh, that's from God in the Bible. When I'm saying in general, what God says about me, it's because I find it in scripture. And I believe that in the beginning was the word and the word was with God. And the word was God. So, um, but I always encourage you to just follow up and read and find yourself in the scripture, in whatever translation you want to use. I read several different translations just because different translations say things in different ways. So just wanting to clarify that and encourage you to find yourself in scripture, whatever translation you want to read, do it. And again, I can't wait to hear some of the feedback from you guys. Once you guys have done this, make sure that you guys head over to my Facebook group, a wholly made life. You can find it on Facebook and just join the group and tell us what you found about yourself. Talk about this exercise. And let's walk through this thing together, because I know that if we read these declarations about what we find about ourselves in scripture, and we read these things out loud and we walk with the knowledge of who we are and who God is calling us to be that we will come out stronger for it. Our families will be blessed for it. The people in our circles will be blessed for it. You sister will be blessed for it. All right. So I will see you in the next episode and I hope to see you in the Facebook group as well. All right. See you soon. Do you ever despair at the condition of the church-- At the seeming lack of impact that the church has and the people of God the lack of impact that the people have gone have in this world-- Or at the persecution of God's people, at the infighting and abandonment of biblical morality of so many. How can it be-- How long will this continue-- We're God's people, after all. Has God abandoned his people-- Why am I so weak and irrelevant-- Why do I suffer-- And the ungodly are so powerful and strong--
