008 - A Simple Guide to Travel After Covid

Is anyone else feeling like their feet are itchy? I'm sure I'm not the only one who wants to get on a plane and explore a new place for a bit. I'm getting so tired of the same sights and sounds. Earlier this year the entire travel and tourism industry was tipped on it's head as borders closed and countries shut down. Never in our lives have we ever seen something like this before. Needless to say, getting back on the road will not be as easy as it once was. Let's take a look at travel in the age of Covid-19. Welcome to Episode 8 of Kayla on the Road: the podcast. Covid-19 and the effects that came with it hit me hard! I was actually out on the road when stuff started to shut down all over Canada and getting home was a constant loop of booking a flight, getting a cancellation notice, and getting on the phone with a representative. Since returning home airlines all over the world have been filing for bankruptcy and airlines right here at home have closed some of their routes permanently to deal with the losses attached to the lack of business during the worldwide Covid-19 shut down. Needless to say travel in 2020 and beyond will look a little different than before. For all of the notes from today's show, check out the show notes.Support the show (https://pod.fan/kayla-on-the-road-the-podcast)

Hello, and welcome to episode 7 of Kayla on the Road:the podcast. I'm your host, Kayla, and today with me I have wonderful fiancé Andrew. This is Andrew's second time with me on the podcast, hopefully our audio is a little better for you this time, but Andrew is also our money man when it comes to budgeting and saving for trips. Andrew and I have been working and traveling together since 2017. Sometimes he's the one working and other times I am so we've both had the opportunity to play tourist and business-person while away from home. In fact, it was 2017 when we actually cancelled our apartment lease, packed everything into a storage locker, and decided to live from business trip to business trip hopping from hotels to airbnbs and more.Click here for all of the show notes. To hear more from Andrew check out Episode 3.Support the show (https://pod.fan/kayla-on-the-road-the-podcast)

Hey friends, it's me, Kayla and welcome to Episode 6 of Kayla on the Road: the podcast. Have you ever wondered what the difference between a hostel and hotel was? Have you ever considered a homestay? More of the AirBnB type? This week I'm sharing some advice and recommendations when it comes to accommodations abroad. Like always, this is my experience. Obviously if I had more money to spend on lodging I would be bunking up in a tree house overlooking the jungle or a villa on a white sandy beach with my own private pool but that is not the case. Where I lay my head at night usually isn't the most important thing to me but without a plan and solid communication with your accommodations you could end up wandering the streets begging for a room when you do not have the mental capacity to organize your thoughts, let alone a new bed.For today's full show notes check out my website.Support the show (https://pod.fan/kayla-on-the-road-the-podcast)

Hey friends, and welcome to Kayla on the Road:the podcast. This is episode 5 and this episode is all about anxiety. I'm not talking about the anxiety that travelers get when they are in a new and different place, in the grand scheme of things we'd all be better off calling it travelers worry or travelers fear. I'm talking about the all consuming feeling of weight and discomfort that comes with the constant worrying associated with an anxiety disorder. For the longest time I was afraid that my anxiety was going to stand in the way of my traveling, after all, I hadn't experienced an anxiety attack during the first 20 years of my life, and if I had, I hadn't recognized it as such. Let's get one thing straight right off the bat, there is no one way to handle anxiety, I simply want to share my story and my experience with you so that if you are feeling similar you can take the steps to properly prepare yourself to travel as someone who suffers from an anxiety disorder. I truly believe that it is possible to get off the couch and onto the road without letting anxiety control your every move.Check out all of the show notes at here for Episode 5!Support the show (https://pod.fan/kayla-on-the-road-the-podcast)

Today, I'm sharing my favorite rainy day travel activities, courtesy of several very and I mean VERY rainy trips.
