Your board has an AI strategy. It's probably rubbish. Nathan Bell has spent 25 years delivering transformation programmes inside the world's biggest telcos. Now a Partner at Kearney, he's the person companies call when the proof-of-concept graveyard keeps growing and the CFO starts asking uncomfortable questions. In this episode: why most AI programmes are expensive theatre, how to actually get ROI, and why your change management track record matters more than your technology choices. We also get into agentic AI gone wrong — a recruiting agent that only wanted to hire golfers, a CEO town hall that triggered a queue at HR, and an AI agent that doxxed a developer and got its creator hired by Sam Altman. Adele Bertei got a Greyhound to New York in 1977 intent on joining a band. James Chance thought she “looked like a pimp” and hired her as the organist in the Contortions, an instrument she couldn't play. Her memoir No New York captures the most intoxicating times imaginable, the rise of Blondie, Talking Heads, Television, Madonna and her fellow raft of No Wave cheerleaders in pursuit of dismantling music. Highlights include … … the local priest recommending the Velvet Underground when she was 11 … “imbibe and dream”: her weekend with Lester Bangs … the rubble-filled New York wasteland of 1977, landlords setting fire to property just to claim the insurance … the No Wave circuit: crowd violence and singers who either talked or screamed .. her rivalry with Madonna: “our labels didn't want people to know we were white” … the local Cleveland “Rust Belt” - Pere Ubu, Chrissie Hynde, Devo … why Warhol, Ginsberg and Burroughs seemed laughably outmoded … Brian Eno's shopping list … the power of Tina Weymouth, Patti Smith and Debbie Harry (“sexy but with a snarl”) and why New York's venues are internationally mythical. Quick baseball free agency follows with Harrison Bader landing a two-year deal with the Giants. Then the phones light up with Giants roster-building talk, including a fan playing GM and pushing for a big move on the offensive line. A wild wrinkle comes from a caller with a meteorologist connection who says Belichick used to seek ultra-specific forecasts, which sparks more debate about how much coaches should know about incoming weather. The hour swings back to Jets pain as callers re-litigate the Sam Darnold alternate history, and it ends with a full tilt spiral: why the Jets chose Adam Gase over Mike McCarthy, why it still makes fans sick, and the only logical explanation for the Patriots always getting the breaks. Plus, a quick cameo from Jet to sign off and get a verdict on the new background.

The one-time geometry teacher of Joe Flacco joins Nestor to discuss the depth and salary cap numbers of the Baltimore Ravens roster and the structural changes Eric DeCosta will need even after Steve Bisciotti finds a new captain to lead Lamar Jackson. There should be ballads written about Willson Contreras' brief time with the Cardinals. From his arrival as the All-Star eager for the challenge of following Yadier Molina, to that weird week when he took fly balls in left field and stopped catching, to the injuries and fractures and ultimately his move to first base, out from behind home plate without skipping a beat at the plate. Contreras brought both joy and fury to the Cardinals' lineup and clubhouse, and at some point his absence will be felt by the teammates who remain. But he won't be a alone. In a brand new Best Podcast in Baseball, recorded on Christmas Eve, Post-Dispatch editor Nathan Mills and baseball writer Derrick Goold discuss the Cardinals' counterintuitive shopping list for the holidays and what is missing from it and possibly from the clubhouse during his reboot of an organization. The Cardinals traded a starter (Sonny Gray) only to sign a starter (Dustin May) a few weeks later; they traded a right-handed bat from the middle of the order (Contreras) only to suggest a few hours later that they would now look for a right-handed bat to add to the roster. The Cardinals are swapping All-Stars for pitching depth and then looking to replace those veterans with players on shorter-term deals or with more control and less cost. What's missing from those moves is the leadership and experience that the Cardinals have long championed as part of their continuity, as part of their identity as a club. And more trades ahead could mean the departure of Brendan Donovan, who personifies the way the Cardinals like to play and be in the clubhouse; JoJo Romreo, the seasoned reliever in the bullpen; and Nolan Arenado, the future Hall of Famer and Gold Glove-cornerstone at third. Mills and Goold discuss what happens when a young group of players isn't inheriting expectations but tasked with trying to grow them. More Post-Dispatch podcasts. Please consider subscribing. In its 13th season as one of the first and most widely heard podcasts on baseball and the Cardinals, the Best Podcast in Baseball has reached a new season-high with 30 episodes. Each episode is sponsored weekly by Closets by Design of St. Louis, is a production of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, StlToday.com, and lead baseball writer Derrick Goold.

Chris Versace says this week and next week could be make-or-break for the market ending 2025 higher. He sees a “hawkish” rate cut in December from the Fed; “the key for us is to maybe see inflation still at elevated levels but not creep higher,” he says. “Don't make any aggressive moves this week,” he advises investors, because trading volumes are typically low during the holiday week, and “look for the S&P 500 to retest the 100-day moving average.” He says instead to “build your shopping list” of stocks, highlighting Axon (AXON) and Arista Networks (ANET).======== Schwab Network ========Empowering every investor and trader, every market day. Send us a textYou ever feel like a screwdriver?Like you're just executing — sourcing, quoting, fixing — instead of being valued for your design vision?Because honestly, I've been there too. Running around, trying to realize a client's dream project… only to feel like the least important part of the process.Until I realized: I was doing it the wrong way. This episode is a raw and honest conversation with showroom sales trainer Deborah Flate — someone who's been on both sides of the table. As a designer. And as a showroom manager. And she gets it.We talk about:• Why transparency isn't scary — it's your superpower• How to stop hiding margins and start owning your value• The magic that happens when you share the full story with your dealer• What “being the expert” really means in a world where everyone can Google your product• Why clarity builds trust — and trust builds your entire business• And what happens when you stop chasing small wins… and start building a bigger game, beyond interior design“Don't be the screwdriver. You're not just selling a couch — you're transforming lives. But only if you stop hiding and start leading.”If you recognize yourself in this — the tension between your design vision and the business side — this one's for you.And honestly? This is one you'd better listen to than read.So hit play. And enjoy.Connect with Deborah Flate at: www.beyondinteriordesign.club/flateAnd for the interior designers who want more... Today's episode is sparked by a post that's been making waves online. It goes like this:“If this was your weekly grocery list: – 2 cartons of eggs – 2–4 grass-fed steaks – 2–3 lbs of ground beef – 1 whole chicken and fish – Vegetables of choice – Avocados and berries – 2 large Greek yogurtsYou'd lose fat, gain muscle, and have zero food cravings.”Sounds pretty good, right? But is it really that simple? Could this be the secret we've all been missing? Or is this another one-size-fits-all oversimplification dressed up as nutrition advice?Let's break it down — with science, real-life application, and practical tips for anyone chasing fat loss, muscle gain, and long-term health.Resources:Brain.fm App(First month Free, then 20% off subscription)Discount Code: coachdamiensdCaldera Lab Skin Carewww.calderalab.comDiscount Code: CoachDLinks:IG:@coachdamien_sd@damienrayevans@livinthedream_podcast YouTube:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCS6VuPgtVsdBpDj5oN3YQTgFB:https://www.facebook.com/coachdamienSD/
