Glenn Kirschner - he’s an NBC News and MSNBC legal analyst and former Assistant U.S. Attorney at the D.C. U.S Attorney's Office. And now you can join him for Justice Matters. Glenn brings analysis and insight to legal issues of the day, drawing from his 30 years as a federal prosecutor, homicide prosecutor, and Army JAG. For three decades, Glenn argued to juries, breaking down complex legal issues in universally understandable and relatable ways. And now, he brings that same approach to his analysis of today's troubled legal landscape - every week on Justice Matters with Glenn Kirschner.
The Justice Matters with Glenn Kirschner podcast is an exceptional resource for anyone looking to gain a deeper understanding of the law and its implications. Glenn's ability to break down complex legal concepts into understandable and relatable terms is truly remarkable. He takes the time to explain the intricacies of various cases and laws in a way that is accessible to lay people, making it easier for us to comprehend the impact these decisions have on society as a whole. As someone who has been following Glenn's work on YouTube and MSNBC, I was thrilled to discover that he now has a podcast where he can delve even further into these important topics.
One of the best aspects of this podcast is Glenn's unique perspective as a former prosecutor. His experience in the field lends credibility and insight into the inner workings of the legal system. He not only appreciates the hard work and dedication of law enforcement officers but also acknowledges the importance of holding them accountable when they get it wrong. His discussions on common sense changes that can be made when law enforcement or prosecutors make mistakes are thought-provoking and offer potential solutions for improving our justice system.
However, one downside of this podcast is that sometimes it can be quite lengthy. While long-form episodes provide an opportunity for in-depth analysis, they may also deter some listeners who prefer shorter podcasts. It would be beneficial if there were occasional shorter episodes or summaries for those seeking a more concise approach.
In conclusion, The Justice Matters with Glenn Kirschner podcast is an excellent resource for anyone interested in gaining a better understanding of the law and its impact on society. Glenn's ability to present complex legal concepts in an understandable manner makes him an exceptional attorney and communicator. While some may find the lengthier episodes overwhelming, overall, this podcast offers valuable insights into the justice system and encourages meaningful discussions about necessary improvements.

History often repeats itself. After the Watergate scandal, 48 of Richard Nixon goons were convicted of crimes, and 30 of them went to prison. Before they got caught, Nixon's criminal associates thought they were untouchable. After all, they were committing the crimes together with and for the benefit for the President of the United States. And they believed the president would save them. But accountability came for Nixon's minions and Donald Trump's goons are committing crimes together with and for the benefit of the president of the United States, and they also think they're untouchable. They think they are beyond the reach of the rule of law. Because after all, the president promised he will have their backs. But we all know Trump will have their backs stabbed.Accountability WILL come for Donald Trump's henchmen, just the way it came for Richard Nixon's goons.Believe.Find Glenn on Substack: glennkirschner.substack.comSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

We have all seen the Trump administration commit horrifying crimes against the American people, documented immigrants, and undocumented immigrants alike, up to and including the killing of Renee Good, Alex Pretti, and others. Accountability for the crimes being committed by Trump and his administration can be achieved in at least two ways. One way is criminal investigations and prosecutions. But given that the acting Attorney General is Donald Trump's lapdog, criminal investigations and prosecutions very likely will have to wait until the rule of law comes back into the light of day at the Department of Justice in January 2029. But the second form of accountability involves congressional investigations, and congressional investigations are just around the corner. They will commence - after the Democrats take the House of Representatives back after the midterms. We all know that Trump orchestrated and launched an attack on the US Capitol on January 6, 2021, to try to retain power after he lost a presidential election. We know that in the aftermath of the Capitol attack, thousands and thousands of FBI agents and local police officers around the country, scores of prosecutors, paralegals, legal assistants, grand jurors, trial jurors and judges - tens of thousands of people - worked to hold accountable Trump's angry mob. More than 1600 of them were convicted at trial or pleaded guilty to their crimes. Then Donald Trump wiped it all away with the most unjust pardons in our nation's history. And even after Trump delivered those searingly unjust pardons, he wasn't done. He then he had his dirty DOJ leadership wrongfully terminate or demote FBI agents and federal prosecutors who did the hard work of the American people holding those rioters accountable for their crimes.Glenn sat down with a former colleague and friend, Greg Rosen. Greg was the Chief of the Capitol Siege Unit - the unit at the DC US Attorney's office that put together the J6 criminal investigations and prosecutions. In recent days, the very notion of a free, fair, representative democracy has taken some body blows. First, the United States Supreme Court undercutting minorities having any fair shot at representation in Congress, and then second, the Virginia Supreme Court undercutting the express will of the Virginia voters on the redistricting front. So Glenn has decided - between now and the midterms, he's going to interview and highlight as many congressional candidates as he can: candidates who are willing to be democracy warriors, to take the gloves off and to fight for free, fair elections.Kicking this off - Glenn sat down with a great young candidate running for Congress to represent the people of California's 3rd congressional district, Chris Bennett.Find Chris at: https://www.bennettforca.comFind Glenn on Substack: glennkirschner.substack.comSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Apparently, one federal judge has had just about enough of Trump DOJ lawyers who are misleading the court. This story exposes the dangerous depravity of the Trump administration: a Department of Homeland Security official told a DOJ attorney to hide from a federal judge that a defendant who was appearing in court and seeking release had an outstanding murder warrant for his arrest issued by another country. The DOJ attorney agreed to hide that critically important information from the judge and the judge released the defendant. After successfully concealing the information from the judge, a DHS official began smearing the judge for releasing the defendant, posting: "An activist judge appointed by Joe Biden released this wanted murderer back into the American communities." This level of corruption, depravity, and deception is almost beyond belief. The good news is the judge is ordering an investigation and possible sanctions for the DOJ attorney and DHS. The lawlessness of Donald Trump's Department of Justice continues, unbated. The DOJ just vindictively indicted James Comey, again!Recall that a federal judge threw out the last indictment against Comey. As ABC News reported: "James Comey indicted again, this time over seashell Instagram post. Trump claimed the "86 47" written in seashells was an assassination threat."This indictment is also destined to be thrown out, for two reasons. First and foremost: James Comey committed no crime. Second, James Comey has a due process right against being vindictively prosecuted. To prove he committed no crime, James Comey could call as his first witness at trial . . . the dictionary. This from the Merriam Webster dictionary:"86 is slang meaning to throw out, to get rid of, or to refuse service too. It comes from the 1930s soda counter slang, meaning that an item was sold out .The other thing likely motivating this indictment is that Pam Bondi got fired, and the prevailing wisdom is because she didn't successfully prosecute any of Donald Trump's perceived enemies. Donald Trump is still being sued for what he did on January 6, 2021: launching an attack on the United States Capitol to steal a presidential election from the American people. He is still being sued by several police officers who were assaulted that day by his angry mob, and he is still being sued by democratic lawmakers who were under siege that day as a result of the Trump-induced Capitol attack. In that ongoing litigation, Donald Trump asserted that everything he did on and around January 6, 2021, was an official presidential act so he should be immune from being sued. A federal judge has now rejected Trump's immunity claim, ruling that lawsuit against Donald Trump will move forward toward trial. This is an important ruling on the accountability front. Hey - it's Glenn. I sure hope you got to participate in a No King's rally near you. If you watch my daily Justice Matters videos, you know I can be really long-winded. But I did my best to stick to the time limit and, as you'll see, I managed to keep it just under 5 minutes. The Epstein survivors have filed a class action lawsuit against Donald Trump's Department of Justice for re-victimizing them by unlawfully publishing the names and identities of more than 100 victims, outing them, and causing them the following, according to the lawsuit, "survivors now face renewed trauma. Strangers call them, email them, threaten their physical safety, and accuse them of conspiring with Epstein when they are in reality Epstein's victims."Glenn discusses how, in the age of Trump, the Department of Justice has become an institution of injustice. Trump and his DOJ's abuse of the American taxpayers continues, unabated. After Mike Flynn pleaded guilty - twice - for lying to the FBI, and later being pardoned by Trump, the Department of Justice just paid Flynn more than $1,000,000 in taxpayer money after he complained that he was treated unfairly by the DOJ previously. As independent journalist Scott MacFarlane reported: "Michael Flynn becomes latest MAGA ally to get taxpayer-funded payout."This video reviews the history of Flynn's legal entanglements and highlights why this latest payout is nothing more than a continuation of Trump's grift and corruption. Here's something I'll bet we can all agree on: no one can accuse the current batch of congressional Republicans of showing any courage. They won't stand up to President Donald Trump. They won't stand up for the rule of law or the Constitution. They won't even stand up for their own constituents. It's almost like we need a congressional courage campaign. Here's some good news: there's a great nonprofit organization called Represent Us that has launched, and it's pushing and promoting, the Congressional Courage Campaign and I just sat down with the CEO of Represent Us, Maria McFarland Sanchez-Moreno to discuss the non-negotiable need for courageous members in Congress. New reporting presents a real inconvenient development for Pam Bondi. Law enforcement officials in the United Kingdom want the unreacted Epstein files so they can hold wrongdoers accountable. In fact, London's top cop, Metropolitan Police Department Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley said the following, "there's a big body of that evidence in the United States in all those (Epstein) files, and at some stage we're going to need the unreacted evidence . . . we need the original copy and where did it come from and that's going to be necessary if we get to the stage of court cases" Now we already know that Pam Bondi won't disclose the full unredacted Epstein files to the American people, in violation of federal law - the Epstein Files Transparency Act - so the question becomes: will she disclose the unreacted Epstein files to law enforcement authorities in other countries so THEY can pursue justice?Find Glenn on Substack: glennkirschner.substack.comSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

It's crystal clear, if we want to keep our republic, accountability must come for Donald Trump and his criminal associates. One sure way that we can move in the direction of accountability is to elect former federal prosecutors to Congress. My friend and former colleague J.P. Cooney is running for Congress to represent the people of Northern Virginia. J.P. served the American people for 18 years as a federal prosecutor, as a homicide prosecutor, as a public corruption prosecutor, and, as Special Counsel Jack Smith's principal deputy - the number two guy on Jack Smith's team - J.P. and his team undertook to prosecute Donald Trump for the crimes for which he had been indicted. I recently sat down with J.P. to talk about his candidacy for Congress, and discuss how accountability for Trump and company is non-negotiable.Find J.P. Today we lost an American hero, Robert S. Mueller III, or "Bob", as we called him when he was Chief of the Homicide Section at the DC US Attorney's Office, and we were his homicide team. He was our boss.As I have said publicly many times over the years, Bob Mueller was the single best leader and supervisor I ever had the honor to work for.We lost a lion of justice, a warrior for accountability, and an American hero.Find Glenn on Substack: glennkirschner.substack.comSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

A federal judge just delivered a huge win for the rule of law, for the American people and - not hyperbole - for global security, and a huge loss for Donald Trump, and one of his flunkies, Kari Lake.DC Federal District Judge Royce Lamberth just ordered 1000 federal employees to be allowed to return to work at Voice of America, ruling that Kari Lake had been unlawfully trying to dismantle the agency. This headline from The Washington Post: "Judge reinstates 1,000 Voice of America employees, deems wind-down illegal. U.S. District Judge Royce C. Lamberth called Kari Lake's lack of cooperation in the case a 'Hallmark production in bad faith.'"Glenn discusses this important legal development. A republican-controlled congressional committee has subpoenaed Pam Bondi to testify before Congress about "mismanagement " of the DOJ's release (or failure to release) - the Epstein files. Kristi Norm has been referred to the Department of Justice for a criminal investigation for allegations that she lied to Congress in her recent testimony. Given the evidence that recently has been reported clearly supporting the conclusion that she did lie to Congress, a case against Noem would be like shooting perjury fish in a barrel. But what will Pam Bondi do with this criminal referral?Glenn discusses these topics and more.Find Glenn on Substack: glennkirschner.substack.comSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

It seems like sometimes accountability can take forever. And then, it comes all at once. Remember all those Trump lawyers who got disbarred as a result of what they did during Trump's first presidential rodeo: Rudy Giuliani, John Eastman, Kenneth Chesebro, and others?Well, some other lawyers didn't really pay attention to that cautionary tale. One of them is Ed Martin. Donald Trump tried to make Martin the United States Attorney for the District of Columbia – the city's top prosecutor – but Senate Republicans said, 'not so fast, that's a bridge too far even for us', and refused to confirm Martin. And now, accountability is coming for Ed Martin, The New York Times just reported: "DC Bar begins disciplinary proceedings against Ed Martin. A new legal filing accused Mr. Martin, a senior Justice Department official, of an unethical pressure campaign against Georgetown University."Glenn discusses this development with his fellow former career federal prosecutor, Kevin Flynn, in a segment called "The Prosecutor's Verdict".Find Kevin at: https://www.kevinflynnauthor.com/Find Glenn on Substack: glennkirschner.substack.comSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Donald Trump endangers us around the globe with his unconstitutional war on Iran, while FBI Director Kash Patel endangers us at home, firing some of the very FBI agents who were working on protecting us against terrorist threats on US soil. Pam Bondi seems determined to make the Department of Justice an ethics-free workplace. Bondi continues to tear down DOJ's ethical guardrails. First, she fired the DOJ's top ethics advisor and didn't replace him. Then, she fired the head of the Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR), that's the office responsible for investigating allegations of misconduct by DOJ lawyers, and she didn't replace him either. So we now have two rudderless ethical ships adrift at the Department of Justice. But Bondi's not done. She now is trying to block state bar ethics organizations from investigating allegations of misconduct by DOJ attorneys. Here's our call action: we have 30 days to go online at Regulations.gov and make our voices heard. Here is the link: https://www.regulations.gov/document/...Find Glenn on Substack: glennkirschner.substack.comSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
