One Marathon in 1967 set Kathrine Switzer on the path that would direct the rest of her life. The first woman to enter and compete in the Boston Marathon was quite literally attacked by a race official who tried to pull off her bib number while she was running and who later had her disqualified. She then became an advocate for all women athletes when in 1972 women were allowed into the Boston Marathon and later the marathon for women was added to the Olympic Event Calendar in 1984. Come on in and listen to this short interview with Kathrine Switzer (She is a busy lady and we are so honored to have her here!) and learn how you too can be FEARLESS! Rate & Review This Podcast

Gray IS The New Blonde! While you can find this as Victoria Marie’s new website and all of her social media AND in t-shirt/tank-top/hoodie form - the most exciting part of this is the “Gray is the New Blonde” documentary coming out this March! More and more women are embracing their gray or celebrating their silver (whichever resonates more with you) and while not all women are taking this track (you do you), Victoria is here to support and empower those who are ready to make that transition. This documentary has been several years in the making supported by friends old and new, along with the literal blood, sweat, and tears needed to make such a historic film. I’ve made the switch to gray and love it! Will you? Listen in and tell me what you think! #GrayIsTheNewBlonde

Happy New Year’s Eve! This podcast episode is absolutely perfect to prepare for 2019 as Debra Maldonado, CEO of the Academy of Jungian Spiritual Psychology talks all about goals, action and inaction (and the why behind each when making choices), and what love means to her. How do we know we are on the right path? Where are YOU choosing to spend your power and passion? What is in YOUR shadow? Trusting that all of these answers are already inside of you sounds a bit unreal, but truly…you already have what it takes to make your goals and dreams come true in 2019. Have a listen and Happy New Year!
Homeopathy may have been established in the early 1800’s, but it is still a mystery to many. Today’s guest is a Doctor of Homeopathic Medicine, Nancy Sacks, whom I’ve had the privilege to not only interview, but to see her as her patient. I believe in holistic healing and homeopathy is truly a holistic approach to helping your body heal from whatever is ailing it - and I’m not just talking about physical ailments, but perhaps emotional, spiritual, and certainly therapeutic ways. Nancy brings an extensive knowledge of healing, a history of her own healing journey, and culminates this into a “safe holistic haven” for any who are in search of a comfortable, safe space, real life approach to healing themselves. Nancy is fun, down to earth, and if you never really wrapped your head around how homeopathy can help? This is the podcast for you!
“Love isn’t something you find, it’s something you create.” The author of The Cosmology of Love: 70+ Ways to Experience Greater Love, Laura Smith Biswas shares the “5 Ways of Loving” to best communicate and receive love in our closest relationships. I was surprised to learn what 1 of the 5 I was, and was then a bit mystified on nailing down how my husband who is my best friend and lover on what his way of receiving love might be. I thought I was an expert after a decade of marriage! This only goes to show you that we all have something to learn and room to grow in the beautiful arena of love. Laura shares her own “sucking lemons” moments and how she found the sugar she needed to make “sweet lemonade” which culminated in her book and now a beautiful partnership at thelovemandala.com with workshops on love. I know you are going to LOVE (pun intended) today’s podcast interview!
“The Unsexy Ways You Talk Dirty to Yourself” - Yep, that pretty much sums up negative self-talk, doesn’t it? There is nothing sexy about self-criticism and today’s guest, Stephanie Miller, author of Confessions of a Failed Perfectionist: How to Get Over Self-Hate, Self-Sabotage and Feeling Like a Failure, a handbook to help those struggling with addiction and eating disorders, was a pleasant surprise of positivity. Since Stephanie LOVES surprises as a way of being shown love, I’m sure she will appreciate the use of the term. This episode covers shame, body-shame, and of course a healthy dose of self-love that guess what? CAN BE LEARNED! Wait until you get to Stephanie’s favorite quote at the end and just try not to be inspired to try your own healthy dose of self-love starting today! Enjoy this beautiful episode and look forward to her business partner, Laura Biswas next week!
Slow Travel. Location Independent Business. Living Life on Your Terms - even if those terms mean selling everything you own (or giving it away) and going on the road for 18 months with only what can fit in your Honda CRV. These are all things I was curious about when I learned about Kala Philo. She is a heroine in her own right that had the courage to go out on her own, envision a life outside of what we would consider the “norm” (What’s normal, anyway??) and create this beautiful life of slow travel, a location independent business, a minimalist lifestyle - only to find complete satisfaction and the love her life along her sweet journey. Come learn all about Kala in this podcast interview and see if this type of lifestyle might be your next grand adventure!
#Aging Backwards is definitely the theme of today’s podcast guest, Elysabeth Alfano who started her own production company, has interviewed too many celebrities to count and brought them together to eat and connect, and now her latest venture into podcasting - ALL AFTER AGE 40! Not to mention celebrating her silver, going vegan, and standing in her power in all sorts of ways. Elysabeth is full of positive energy that is seriously contagious and is rockin’ this next stage of her life. Enjoy the heck out of this interview - I know I did!
Is forgiveness a one-time thing? Is it possible to forgive what seems like the ultimate unforgivable act? Are angels real? Do you believe in miracles? Even after something as tragic as having your child murdered? Alissa Parker is one of the parents who lost their child during the Sandy Hook Elementary School Shooting that happened on December 14th, 2012. Her 6-year old daughter, 19 other children, and 6 adults were among the victims that day. Alissa opens up about that day, the days that followed, how she found her way. She tells us of miracles, of where her darling Emilie is now, her book, and the focus of her attention outside her family these days in her non-profit organization, Safe and Sound Schools. This is a true testament of taking a horrific “sucking lemons” moment, the searching and finding of the “sugar” (over and over again), that has made her find her “sweet lemonade”. Join us with tissues and honor for this amazing woman.
Fairytales are not just for girls and today’s guest author, Jody Smith brings this point home by quite literally breaking the traditional mold of fairytales and making her heroine save herself! In her first book, Princess Monroe, Jody brings to light the fact that while we may love the tiara’s and the lace and the sparkly things, we also love to mountain bike, rock climb, get dirty, play musical instruments and create BIG dreams. This lovely mamapreneur has ditched the title of “busy” and has donned the new title of “empowered with purpose”. I know you are going to enjoy this lively and lovely conversation with this amazing woman. Please enjoy this week’s podcast with Jody Smith!

Akashinga - The Brave Ones in the Zambezi Valley of Zimbabwe - Strong, brave women with super tough backgrounds have come together under the direction of Damien Mander, Founder of the International Anti-Poaching Foundation (iapf.org) and are a force to be reckoned with. This podcast is about empowering women with hope and bringing positivity to their lives. Damien is doing this and as in any culture, the ripple effects of empowering these women is being felt not only amongst themselves, but it is having positive effects in their communities and the entire eco-system of that community. This shift was met with loads of resistance, but Damien has pushed through every obstacle. #TruthBombs and #MindBlown moments abound in this episode! Debbie is to be commended for her vulnerability in sharing what I consider super scary moments in her life that caused some real havoc in her state of well-being. I am proud to know her and give her 100% props for finding the grit, tenacity, and help she needed to find her party at the end of the tunnel (cause who wants just a light there when you finally show up?). She is now helping other woman find their Soul Journey through Soul Mapping. Are you a part of her sacred rebel tribe of amazing women? My guess is that it’s a big fat YES! Come on in and start today to find your “Big Dream” and better than that? To make it a reality. This podcast episode is truly going to blow your mind!

Kyla is founder of The Happiness Workshop, is coming out with a new book this year called WITH vs AT, and is on a mission to waylay negativity and bullying in the workplace. She is the recipient of multiple teaching awards and to be honest, is just plain fun! I would list intelligence at the top of Kyla’s traits, right along with being a good friend. She is choosing to be happy, exercising her happiness muscle, and in this podcast is inviting us to do the same. She loves to travel and is taking her message to the masses. Jump on in and be inspired!
Frientimacy is a new word in Shasta’s vocabulary that I would like to adopt. In this episode we talk about her area of expertise - Friendships! How to make friends, where to find them, which of the 5 circles they are in and how to be a great friend. I immediately bought both of Shasta’s books the same day I concluded this interview. There is no doubt in my mind that we have largely ignored the need for frientimacy in our relationships, our friendships, and I, for one, am not going to stand by and let that happen. We need friends, good friends. We deserve friends, good ones. I believe that it’s not only possible, it’s a necessity (like breathing, for example). Come on this “friend-ship” cruise with Shasta and I as we explore very real life scenarios and what you can do to increase your frientimacy - including where to find the quiz to see how you rank. I did mine and shared it here on the show! Listen in and listen up, ladies - your friendships are about to reach a whole new level of awesomesauce!
Pina may speak 5 languages, but she has one vision - be the best version of herself possible. What this means is that she can then help others with their vision. With 2 Tedx Talks under her belt, as well as authoring a book and keynoting at numerous events, Pina has had her own set of struggles and fears that she has had to overcome which drives all of her passionate philanthropy projects today. From being president of Gratitude International, speaking to college students about ending date-rape on campuses, and even to the #MissionWellington brought on by her soul friend of a dog that passed away last year and her becoming a Pet Bereavement Counselor, this girl is on fire! Come on in and get to know Pina on a personal level and then take her up on her offer of a gracious gift from her in the end just for our Tribe of Lemonader’s. You are going to adore Pina and feel empowered to “Follow your Yes’s”.

Everyone wants to be happy, right? But do you truly know how to find your happy? While it’s definitely a process and isn’t achieved overnight, it is totally possible! In this interview, Dr. Jen will give you helpful advice and tips to start working towards your happy right now, but she will also point you in the right direction to stay that way. Forged into Noella’s very being is a sense of strength that is coupled with courage and the innate desire to serve those in need. Her story from her youth will move you. Her story of her young adulthood will make you proud. Her story now will inspire you, empower you, and all at once make you grateful for everything you have in this world, both temporally and spiritually. I was honored (and did not realize until this podcast interview) that Noella’s very first podcast interview was this one here on Lauri’s Lemonade Stand. I am honored, humbled, and blessed to know Noella Coursaris Musunka and to have learned about her during our time together. I have no doubt you will be moved by her story and hopefully, be moved to make a difference in your part of the world - wherever that is. Enjoy and learn in this beautiful interview with Noella of Malaika and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Honesty is at the heart of this conversation with The Handel Group’s, Laurie Gerber. If you can define your dream (and we give you The Tool on how to do that by taking your very own Current Reality Quiz), you can start learning how to stop complaining to find happiness, have a phenomenal relationship with your significant other (including intimacy), learn how to befriend your fears, and do some serious emotional decluttering. Who doesn’t want a piece of that? Laurie talks about her own “Near Divorce Experience” and how life coaching saved her marriage through integrity. This interview will have you doing some of your own soul-searching, laughing, relating, and hopefully will even have you finding your own “ah-ha” moment. Laurie will give it to you straight up in this amazing interview! (Not appropriate for little ears)
Body Language Expert? Yes! RB Kelly is just that. I’m reminded of the scene in Little Mermaid when Ursula is convincing Arial to become human and she says “Never underestimate the power of body language” as she shook her enormous hips before stealing Arial’s voice. Arial then needs to convince Eric to kiss her without just any kiss, but true love’s kiss. Without Ursula’s ensuing interference she would have done just that - all without speaking a word. Body Language is oh so important in our romantic relationships, our business relationships, our friendships, even as a defense against would-be predators. RB is amazingly gifted in her training of speaking the right body language for corporations, for personal relationships, and even teaching teenagers how to talk to each other without using texts or Snapchat. This episode will teach you methods you can employ straight away to improve your relationships - my favorite was all about playing footsies! Come on in and enjoy this super fun episode with RB Kelly, THE Body Language Boss.
The Void is real, but it is not the end. Stephenie Zamora talks all about how we need to walk through our struggles and face our pain, instead of skirting the issue. We are meant to be happy, but sometimes we want to throw positive affirmations in the fire place and watch them burn. Difficulties are a certainty in our life, but Stephenie has found a way to help you through The Call of the Void with her brand new offering called Journey Mapping. She eats ice cream with a fork. She doesn’t use her pinkies for anything, even typing (yes, she knows that’s weird). She would make an excellent getaway driver, and I am honored to call her friend. Enjoy this upfront and honest talk about dealing with our challenges and know that there is hope no matter where you might find yourself in your journey.
“Actively loving ourselves in a society that does its hardest to tell us we need fixing is a major accomplishment. Saying “I’m worthy as I am” is pretty rebellious when every brand, every commercial you see wants you to believe you are too fat, too thin, too saggy, too perky, too old, too young, too grey or too vibrant to be whole.” This quote is by Sarah Sapora who is not afraid to be irreverent and bold in getting her message out into the world about self-love while at the same time showing grace, compassion and sensitivity to those in need. Sarah says that, “Life is meant to be lived. It is beautiful, messy, and colorful. It is our job to show up, live authentically, and spread the Love in whatever way we can.” Come join her at her table (or in this case this podcast) and “Rise the Eff Up!” If you love what you hear, please consider joining Sarah at her amazing Body + Love Workshop in Las Vegas next month! Just go to bodyloveworkshop.com and join the party! (Seriously amazing pricing on this by the way…check it out soon before the price goes up!)
Kindness has saved her, kindness lives through her, kindness is her career of choice. Get ready to feel love, kindness, maybe even cry a little at this very real discussion with Brooke and then learn how you can join the gang at RAK and have the opportunity to feel good, spread good, witness good…all in the name of kindness starting right here, right now!

Mary Shores is all about words - words that count and words that can make a difference - if you let them. Come on it to this podcast and learn about powerful words like “Cleanse or Clog”, what the “Core Four” is, and how you can stop that negative self-talk reel that’s stuck on repeat in your head. Mary has said, “Everything we say, everything we do, every choice we make in the thinnest sliced moments of life is either creating a connection to what we want or it’s driving a disconnection.” This interview gives examples of this so powerful that it truly can be life-changing. Mary even offers our listeners a Free Daily Desires Diary Bundle which includes the Daily Desires Diary, a new daily practice to help you reflect, set goals, and take action, as well as a bonus excerpt of Conscious Communications to jumpstart your motivation. Smoked cinnamon. 5-spice powder. The microplane. Vegan parmesan cheese. Smoked sea salt. These are all things I decided to add to my kitchen after this beautiful and fun interview with Chef Charity Morgan. Turns out we grew up an hour apart in Northern California (you never know what you’re going to find out during a podcast interview!) and that Charity has loved to cook since age 5, made a full meal at age 8 that blew the mind of her father, cooked for her friends after school as a teenager, learned about the word “culinary” as a young adult and that propelled her into attending and graduating from Le Cordon Bleu in Pasadena. Take this a step further and Charity is not only making amazing meals for her family, but for her husband, Derrick Morgan (linebacker for the Tennessee Titans) when his nutritionist says to cut back on inflammation and recovery time and that he should try going plant-based. Charity followed suit and now not only is entirely plant-based, but cooks for a bunch of those team members as well and is loving it all! You can find recipes and helpful hints on her website chefcharitymorgan.com, but you’re just gonna love getting to know Chef Charity Morgan in this episode! (PS - She tells her love story on how she met Derrick! Adorbs!)
Connections are the lifeline of women. Connections with our authentic selves, connections with family and friends, connections with our business colleagues and Sara Blanchard is an expert in all of them! Break out of your cycle of making yourself power through something and do what Sara suggests, “The reality is, humans are social creatures, and we do our best when we are connected in a web of relationships that support us.” This podcast talks all about these connections and teaches you how to get to know yourself better through encouraging play and even laughter (can you imagine?). Since learning about Sara and doing this interview I have upped my game in my connections with girlfriends. I’ve reached out through voicemail messages, set up movie dates and even a double date with one with our hubbies. The proof is in the pudding - this works! Sara is an inspiration. If you are feeling like you could improve your relationships, this podcast is DEFINITELY for you!

Eidetics was foreign to me as a word and a practice, but after this interview, the imagery inspired by the direction of Wendy Yellen - mind blown! This interview brought tears and emotions and feelings rising to the surface, but with Wendy’s soft touch in guiding brought about joy, lightness, and ultimately love. Don’t dismiss Eidetics out of hand just because it might be something new to you. Learn about it, see it for what it is - life-changing. Life-changing in a way that sticks, not in your mind kind of change, but in your heart and soul kind of change. Don’t be a skeptic or think this is just another “woo-woo” type of healing. Open-minded will find you with the results you seek. Wendy has my vote and I’m going to her website, www.MeAsIWantToBe.com, taking the imagery challenge and contacting her for my complimentary Transformation Acceleration Meeting because the work we did together felt so good! I’m challenging you to jump on over – watch the video, experience eidetics for yourself, and then apply to have a conversation with Wendy about what this unique work can do for you. For a real treat - listen to this podcast and listen as Wendy guides me through a session of Eidetics - this is vulnerability and authenticity at its best!
Integrity is like Honesty on Steroids - it is a whole new level of honesty that encompasses being honest with yourself (even when no one is looking). Kelley Kosow’s new book, The Integrity Advantage is chock full of inspiring stories from herself and other women who have found their best selves from the inside out, instead of the other way around. Kelley teaches women how to love themselves with the same love they would give to others. She coaches that it’s ok to be human, but that our goal of our souls is to evolve. In this podcast we not only talk about her book, but how we can add in self-care and gratitude to our lives to create the highest level of self-satisfaction, confidence, hope, empowerment, and above all, INTEGRITY. Come on in and enjoy this beautiful podcast with the CEO of The Ford Institute, Kelley Kosow.
Empath’s and HSP’s (Highly Sensitive People) were a conversation I had wanted to have for months now and I was honored to have Priscilla Pancoast-Crockett step up to the plate and talk about not only her own experiences as an HSP, but all about her new book, Care and Feeding for the Highly Sensitive Soul - A Real Talk and In Depth Guide for those who care for, protect, and support an empath, intuitive, or otherwise defined highly sensitive person. This podcast is a fun, empowering, enlightening talk about this subject. In my learning, I realized that I am definitely at least part HSP, but more importantly I learned that a very close female relative of mine is most definitely an HSP and I was able to learn how I can best support her in her journey. Priscilla is upbeat, totally knowledgable on the subject and simply a joy to visit with. Enjoy this amazing LLS podcast episode!
There is a quote from one of my favorite books, The Count of Monte Cristo, that goes like this: “There is neither happiness nor unhappiness in this world; there is only the comparison of one state with another. Only a man who has felt ultimate despair is capable of ultimate bliss.” Dotsie Bausch reminds me of this quote. From a debilitating eating disorder and unsuccessful suicide attempts to being a 7-time USA Cycling Champion and silver medalist in the 2012 London Olympics, this lady is living the life of ultimate bliss. I can’t wait to see her in the upcoming movie, Game Changers coming out this summer and if you really want to get to know her better, follow her on social media and learn about her last week’s rescue of a baby duckling! This lady is for real and I know you’re gonna LOVE her in this week’s LLS Podcast!
Truly you are guided to what you’re meant to do if you but only listen. Dr. Rosane’s favorite quote says, “Nothing changes until you change. Everything changes once you change.” She is the epitome of her favorite quote and I can’t wait for you to hear about her beginnings in Rio de Janeiro, then to Germany, the University of Illinois, and now UCDavis in Sacramento as the Director of Integrative Nutrition. She is loving, kind, a lover of books (consuming 3-5 per week), and is encouraging in wherever your journey is currently taking you. We talk about her twin sister, her education, her whole-foods, plant-based lifestyle, and of course the answers to Lemonade Moments at the end that have us laughing and sharing like women should! We are stronger together as women and this interview shows that!
Tap, tap, tapping! I’ll admit, prior to this interview I was a virgin tapper, but EFT tapping has intrigued me and I’m betting by the end of this episode you’ll be doing a deep dive as well. Why? Because anything in our crazy lives that can bring a sense of calm and self-awareness is worth the try! Pam’s new book, The Power In Your Fingertips: Calm the Chaos and Lower your Stress in 15 Minutes or Less! is available now on Amazon. Feeling overwhelmed? Just open up that section of the book and follow the tapping sequence. Getting kicked around by your inner critic? Open up the bonus section of her book and tap it away. Listen, this tapping thing is here to stay and is even now being used on soldiers with PTSD. Give it a go! Listen to this episode and then follow Pam Horne on social media - her zone of genius is in deep healing and greater expansion in your life and business. Happy tapping!
“Healthy Perception vs Healthy Reality”, this is one of the things I will remember most about this interview with the incredible Female Entrepreneur, Kara Goldin. Well, and the fact that on her wishlist to interview on her own podcast, Unstoppable is Prince William - I hope she gets her wish! Kara is bold in business, but it is executed with her heart. Hint, Inc took sweat equity and a bit of bootstrapping, but it started by the need for her to be healthy and solve a problem. All of her ventures since then from her new sunscreen (you can find it at Target!) to her new podcast and “The Kara Network” all carry Kara’s enthusiasm, heart, and solid business savvy to all new levels of awesomeness. Enjoy today’s podcast episode here at Lauri’s Lemonade Stand by learning more about this incredible woman.

“Hooking” takes on a whole new meaning when it comes to Meryl Cook. Her path of homeopathy to breast cancer, how she healed through rug-hooking and journaling, and ultimately how she let her creative self come out of the closet in 2016 is an incredible journey filled with courage, bravery, tears, and finding positivity and healing along the way. Meryl is now an accomplished authoress, speaker, and workshop facilitator in helping others find their way in their own healing process, no matter the illness of physical or emotional pain. She is famously the beautiful silver-haired lady with blue glasses and is learning lessons in life a whole new way. Enjoy this podcast and let her help you in your journey as well.
I’ve done interviews where my guests have been in closets and even interviewed a beautiful authoress who was blind, but Aimee Walker Pond is the first deaf person I’ve interviewed and she was amazing! Aimee loves to talk and she made me want to learn ASL just so we could visit more often. Aimee was born deaf and also blind in one eye, but she became an elite gymnast despite of her disabilities and tells everyone that you have “No Excuses” for pursuing your dreams, big or small. Aimee is full of energy, is beautiful and kind and is currently running her own gym for budding gymnasts. Come learn more about this incredible woman in this week’s LLS Podcast!
Compose Your Soul - How to Turn Your Daily Chaos into Calm Control is Angie Nuttle’s new book and I can’t wait to get a copy! I would probably want to buy it just for the cover (that Angie created herself by the way!), but I need her inner genius that’s in that book. If you’re like me and find those “life-sucking inner critics” sapping you like an energy vampire or you find that you are an OPP (Overly Productive Person) like Angie, or worse, and OCD OPP (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder wrapped into an Overly Productive Person) then this book is for you! This podcast interview will give you Angie’s uniquely qualified background and start you on the path to implement something today to help you find your sense of calm in your otherwise chaotic world. Angie is the real deal, funny, and definitely a soul sister. Have fun with Angie and I as we discuss the realities of life and how to navigate it happily.

Jane is UnChained! She is feisty, fierce, and fun while at the same time caring, charismatic, and downright bold in her reporting. Known as “The Voice for the Voiceless”, Jane Velez-Mitchell has won Emmy’s and numerous awards on her reporting not only in the crime division, but her most outspoken passion, animal rights. Learn why choosing a Plant-based lifestyle not only shows compassion for the animals, but shows compassion towards yourself and while you’re at it - save the planet! You don’t need to be a superhero to do it, but I’m tempted to buy Jane a cape for whatever her next crusade happens to be. Join us today to learn more about this amazing person and what you can do to forward the movement!
“You’re only as sick as your secrets.” And Heather Goodwin isn’t holding anything back on her journey from 436 pounds on a 5’2” frame to losing 303 of those lbs at the time of this interview. Heather calls it The Butterfly Effect where’s she’s gone from a fat and furry worm who ate everything in sight to a beautiful butterfly. She even had to cocoon herself for awhile to finally find her way. You will be impressed by her honesty, but most especially about her journey back to health staving off high cholesterol, sleep apnea, food addiction, bad acne, joint paint and inflammation, and morbid obesity…all with a beautiful smile and great attitude. Now she’s helping others find their way. Come listen to this amazing story of courage and strength on today’s LLS podcast episode!
