This week in the United States, we experienced yet another school shooting in Nashville, Tennessee. 6 people have died as a result. It's upsetting and it's frustrating, but today it caused some reflection within me and helped me to think about who I want to be, how I want to show up, and what I want to do in these situations as they come up. There is a photo of me that I came across of myself protesting in Washington D.C. where I'm holding up a sign that says "Never Again." There is a fire in my eyes in that photo that I miss dearly, and in today's episode, I explore the what, why, and how behind my political exhaustion-- and how I plan to bring back my spark. Today's challenge is to do your own reflection-- are you cool with the level of action you're currently taking? Are you satisfied with your level of involvement? Take some time to breathe and reflect, and then let's take some action. I hope you enjoy this side of me, I don't always get political on Life in Bold, but I hope you find some meaning in this episode. If you do, it always means the world when folks share feedback directly with me or on social media. If you would like to hear more of me, follow Life in Bold wherever you're listening! We've got new episodes coming out every other Monday. Today's episode is a special one. Ben interviews New York City Poet Bee C.W. about their intersecting identities, experience growing up queer in NYC as a Gen Z, and authenticity and pride around their journey with tics and a stutter. Lots of ground to cover, but we got through it! If you listen to one podcast this week, make it to this one! On a personal note, this episode is so special to me (Ben) as a 30-year-old queer person because I got to connect with a person who grew up queer in America 12 years behind me. So wonderful to have that connection. Bee is 18 and I am 30. THANK YOU for listening!! New Episodes Every Other Monday! Subscribe here to get the latest! What are your thoughts on today's show?! In this episode, I explore my relationship to my body image as it relates to things like my confidence, dating, and my willingness to put myself out there with pride. We explore body image in the gay and queer community as well as in my childhood and experience through childhood, teenhood, college, and my twenties. It's an honest recount of the many ways I have been taught and shown that my body is unacceptable, and rejection of that and an intentional power through that my body is what it is and how I need to accept it and allow myself to truly approach my body with love, respect, and compassion. We chat about my love of fitness, and my experiences with blood pressure, ordering in, cooking at home, pandemic weight gain, and so much more. New Episodes Every Other Monday!
