It seems that lately, more women than ever are changing careers and finding success in their careers AFTER they turn fifty. While society likes to tell us that our careers (and our looks) have a shelf life, more women than ever are proving that to be completely false. Take comedian and actor Leanne Morgan. Her standup career took off when she was in her 50s — 57 to be exact! She made her comedy career work while also being a mom, doing midnight sets and then waking up at 6 a.m. to do it all over again. Now, her Netflix special, “Leanne Morgan: I'm Every Woman,” is one of the top comedy specials on the platform. Listen in to hear how she went from small-town mom to an international superstar. Hey Full House Fans, Angela Bowen here, the host of Oh Mylanta Holy Chalupas: An Unofficial Full House Fuller House Podcast. Today, I covered the last episode in the Joey's Comedy Career Journey Series, with Full House S5E6: The Legend of Ranger Joe, which aired on October 22, 1991. In this episode In this episode, Joey hits a string of great luck! He gets free cable, concert tickets and job interviews, he even gets a date with a hot girl, but then his luck runs short when his interview comes along. Michelle learns to tap and really annoys Stephanie, who taught her to tap. She annoys her so much that one day the shoes go missing...who do you think took them? Jesse debates what to name his twins, when they are born, and accidentally reveals to DJ that he has a secret about his past. We later find out that he got his name changed in kindergarten. I liked this episode, it was so much fun and had so much going on, Joey's riding high on a string of good luck, newspaper strike doesn't print a bad review on his comedy act, wins Donnie and Marie Reunion Concert Tickets and gets a date with the cable repair lady all in one morning and the cherry on the sundae he gets a chance to audition to be the new host of the children's show Ranger Roy later to be named Ranger Joe. One by one the dominos fall, newspaper strike over, concert tickets are a no go because he has a distant relative that works for the station that ultimately disqualifies him from being able to accept the tickets which leads him to lose the date with the cable lady. And in finding out he got the position as the new host of the kid's show he grabs Ranger Roy (who has a no human contact phobia) in a big bear hug, leaves quickly to tell his agent and Danny is the one to break the news to him, he was fired. Yikes! On a side note, Jesse's obsessed with coming up with cool names for the twins, A hidden secret from his past, his real name is Hermes (not buying this one at all) so he begged him Mom to change it to Jesse. Stephanie teaches Michelle to tap dance and it backfires, what Michelle is doing is not tap dancing, it's STOMPING! Join me next month when I cover that last Series of the Full House Podcast and the Series Finale! Have a great week and I hope you enjoy the Podcast Episode!

This week, Jason is joined by world renowned actor and stand up comedian who has been making audiences around the world laugh for almost four decades, Scott “Carrot Top” Thompson! Scott's comedy career and Carrot Top persona quickly became well known for his three trademarks; red hair, performing hilarious prop comedy acts, and his tiny shorts. His comedic skill set earned him acting jobs across film and television for the better part of 25 years. Named Comedian of the Year and Performer of the Year, both are considered some of his more notable accomplishments. However, one of Scott's most impressive career marks comes from his long standing residency in Las Vegas, 17+ years performing at Luxor, 10 years at MGM before that, and a year at Bally's. Scott gives insight to the blessing and curse of naming himself Carrot Top and staying in that lane, how he came up with the name, how he almost turned down the Vegas residency, how the president of the Luxor called him and convinced him to take the gig, how the pay compares between roadshows and residencies, the difference between 2-wall and 4-wall shows, and shares some of his most memorable shows. Scott also reveals a time when he left comedy but was brought back by one of his best friends, what his relationship with money is like, the work behind being famous, how a broken leg and coming back during COVID lead him back to the roots of storytelling, what the best thing he has done for his career is, and his best career advice. What is a Q rating? Who did he give a hard time about not selling merchandise? Which professionals has he been most impressed with? Does he gamble? Carrot Top reveals all that and so much more in another episode you can't afford to miss! Hey Full House Fans, Angela Bowen here, the host of Oh Mylanta Holy Chalupas: An Unofficial Full House Fuller House Podcast. Today, I covered the next episode in Joey's Comedy Career Series, Full House S4E23: Joey Goes Hollywood, which aired on March 29, 1991. In this episode when Joey leaves for Los Angeles to begin filming his new television series with a prolific actor, the rest of the Tanner family decides to join him. I thought this was a good episode. Joey and the family get to meet Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello. Stephanie being teased about her name at school decides to change it to Dawn Ariel Tanner. Someone loves The Little Mermaid (1989) After hearing Michelle call Annette "Annette Funny-jello", I can't unhear it. Speaking of Michelle, she racks up DJ's phone bill by calling Tokyo (well hear about this city in Japan again in Season 6, Road To Tokyo) constantly since the person on the other end and her are on a first name basis. All she's doing is attempting and failing to count to 100. In Joey's "I'm Famous and a BIG Star fantasy" Kimmy is his biggest fan and she jumps on him and starts kissing his neck. I'm not okay with this scene even if it is for a funny bit in a TV Show. Join me next week when I conclude Joey's Comedy Career Journey with, Full House S5E6: The Legend of Ranger Joe, which aired on October 22, 1991. Hey Full House Fans, Angela Bowen here, the host of Oh Mylanta Holy Chalupas: An Unofficial Full House Fuller House Podcast. Today, I covered the next episode in Joey's Comedy Career Journey Series with Full House S3E6: Star Search, which aired on November 3, 1989. In this episode D. J. and Steph try to teach Michelle not to go to sleep with her ballerina skirt on but Danny allows her to do it. Joey gives his comedy career a last chance and wishes a challenge in Ed McMahon's TV show 'Star Search'. I thought this was an ok episode, Joey gives himself a deadline to become famous or he did 10 years ago when an old video of him and Danny's college talk show is viewed by the whole family. Joey realizes that deadline is fast approaching for him to be famous enough to have his own TV show or at least be on Carson, Leno or Letterman. Somehow if he doesn't achieve this status of fame and success before the deadline, he'll feel like a failure in his own eyes. Never mind that his family will still love him no matter whether he meets his deadline or not. The family secretly sends a tape of Joey's funniest bits on tape to Star Search and luckily enough he gets picked to be on the show and the whole family gets to go and support him. Also mini plot, DJ and Steph give Michelle a ballerina tutu and she refuses to take it off even for bed, the girls complain to Danny and he says it's fine if she wants to wear it. That's that whole mini plot in a nutshell. Join me next week when I cover the next episode in the Series, Full House S4E23: Joes Goes Hollywood, which aired on March 29, 1991. Happy Full House Friday Everyone, Angela Bowen here, the host of Oh Mylanta Holy Chalupas: An Unofficial Full House Fuller House Podcast. Today, I'm kicking off a new Series, Joey's Comedy Career Journey Series, with Full House S1E16: But Seriously Folks, which aired on February 5, 1988. In this episode Joey's convinced that his comic debut in front of a talent scout is jinxed. I liked this episode, as it had a valuable lesson for both Joey and DJ. Joey's ready for his big night at the comedy club, with the possibility of being discovered by a talent scout from HBO looking for the next up and coming comic to give them their big break, an HBO Comedy Special. Sadly Phyllis Diller happens to be in the audience right as Joey's ready to take the stage, and boy is he upstaged since he never makes it up there and of course the audience is all laughed out once she leaves, also leaving is the HBO Talent Scout. Joey's is begging people to stay and listen to his act. It's late, they all have to get home. Joey takes this lack of an opportunity to make people laugh and maybe be discovered, hard. He quits comedy and loses the mullet which he mousses down and dons a suit to go on interviews and accepts none of the job offers. He's not the only one quitting and giving up, DJ started the band The Bracelets with Kimmy who's on keyboard (they really stick with Kimmy and the keyboard thing as the show goes on, even in Fuller House). DJ getting guitar lessons from Jesse and she gives up because she's not good at it at first, we really never come back to this because she eventually moves on to the drums in Season 2. Danny and Jesse realize that Joey needs comedy in his life and the family need Joey in theirs (the old Joey) not this "Joe" guy he keeps referring to himself as. Danny and Jesse devise a plan to take Joey down to the club and Jesse tries out Joey's act messing up Joey's jokes on purpose causing Joey to jump up on stage and take over. The HBO guy rep didn't show, but it ends up being his night because people are laughing and being entertained by his jokes. Old Joey is BACK! Joey tells DJ, don't give up on something if it doesn't come natural to you right away, keep plugging away at it until you succeed. If it's not your thing that's ok too, but at least give it some effort before moving on to something else. Join me next week when I cover Full House S3E6: Star Search, which aired on November 3, 1989. In this episode D. YouTube comedy sensation Mikey Bustos grew up in Canada wanting to be a veterinarian. Then after success on Canadian Idol, he decided to become a singer. But he soon discovered what entertained his audiences the most were his funny videos about the Filipino culture of his immigrant parents, such as his viral musical parody about the common, indispensable tabo. Howie Severino talks to Mikey about his childhood in Canada as often the only Filipino kid in class, resettling in the Philippines, and coming out with his partner RJ, with whom he shares a new, art-filled home. Mikey never forgot his childhood love for animals and retained his obsession with ants. He even recently made news as the discoverer of an ant species in his yard that was not known to exist in the Philippines. He tells Howie how his passion for ants became a business with international operations. With millions of followers on multiple platforms, Mikey shares tips on how to earn from creating online content. But it all starts with developing your talent and being ready for that “curveball from the universe.”

Have you ever wondered what life behind the mic of a comedian looks like? In this episode of Habits and Hustle, we chat with the ever-so-hilarious and insightful, Elon Gold. We kick off with a raw and humorous chat on the hustle and grind of the comedy world and exploring how he started. Elon also expands on the significant impact of Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David on Elon's career, to a chat about our comedy heroes, the industry's challenges, and how comedy can be a powerful tool against hatred. We delve into profound talks on faith, tradition, and God, underscoring the importance of having a support system. We reminisce on starting out in comedy, the struggles, and the glory. Elon opens up about the success of his 'Funny Quarantine' show and expresses his admiration for Howie Mandel's comedic genius. There's also a thoughtful exposition on being Modern Orthodox and the essence of keeping traditions alive. Elon Gold is a comedian and actor who has starred in FOX's 'Stacked' and NBC's 'In-Laws'. His one hour stand up special on Netflix, “Elon Gold: Chosen & Taken” received wide acclaim from audiences and peers alike. It is currently streaming on Amazon Prime. What we discuss: (0:00:00) - About Elon Gold's Comedy Career (0:10:57) - How important is tradition and belief in God? (0:23:22) - How does the show business work? (0:28:06) - Joining Larry David's Show Journey (0:38:17) - How does making a living in comedy look like? (0:41:02) - What lessons can comedy teach us? (0:51:22) - What can comedy do to help with recent incidents against jews? (1:00:02) - Should comedians cover controversial topics? (1:12:58) - Which women in comedy are the funniest? (1:18:55) - What type of people should we take advice from? (1:33:36) - What does Elon like to do to relax? (1:43:43) - What is the secret to a successful marriage? Key takeaways: When you wake up in the morning, it's important to meditate so you can focus on the beauty and truth in your life. However, it's equally important that you express gratitude for everything worth being grateful about in your life. Whether you like to observe your own thoughts or talk to your God, spending time reflecting on your thoughts and thanking the Universe or God for everything you have is imperative to a happy and successful life. In the show business, there's no such thing as someone helping you out just for the sake of helping you out. In order for someone to give you a shot or a big break, it needs to be mutually beneficial. This is something that may sound harsh, but it is true in other types of relationships as well, such as romantic ones. If one partner is the only one doing all the work, the relationship won't survive. Every and any talent you have is God-given. You are born good at something for a reason but you have to work very hard to be great at it. This talent is given to you so you know which craft to work on and become the best at.
