My life is incredibly full right now and this episode we do a bit more unpacking together. I speak about how I'm choosing to let my art and business support me during this challenging time (spoiler: it's not financial support) and how I'm using my creativity to solve problems and pour my magic into all parts of this enormous project of moving my mom to memory care and selling our family home. Thank you for being on this journey with me. I'm so grateful to have come back to making episode on the eve of my life changing course. I'm excited to use this medium as a way to alchemize it all (good and bad) and capture in real-time me stepping into my power, bringing peace to my family, and using creativity and compassion to close this chapter of my life. Please subscribe and share with your people. I would love to know how this is serving you so please leave me a review, DM me over on Instagram at @cocotheinspirationist, or support me by buying my art on Etsy (InspirationistArt) or on the shop on my website.
I'm back with the second solo episode of the season and let me just say-- It is STRAIGHT FIRE. Fully downloaded from the divine, I'd say :) I speak about the incredible shifts currently happening in my life, from my husband's retirement to finally convincing my mom to move into supported living. (Can you feel that ENORMOUS sigh of relief?!) It all happened at the exact same moment in time. WILD. I talk about finding the joy inside the hard, alchemizing the pain, and trusting in myself to always be able to support my wellbeing no matter what comes my way. And above all, the ability to set a positive intention and hold that vision. Intentionality is the key to living an inspired life. Find all the mantras and affirmations I use throughout this episode in my Etsy Shop or on my website. Supporting the podcast can look like all sorts of things like buying my art, leaving a review, subscribing to the podcast, Dming, liking and commenting on Instagram, or just telling a friend about the work I'm putting out into the world. Every bit helps because I believe we all have a Creative Self, and the more we learn about, pour into and tend to that side of us, the happier we will be.
What a treat this episode was not only to record, but to revisit. We recorded this back in September and I see it now as a beautiful time capsule of just how hard things were for me back in the fall. We speak about building safety in our businesses, listening to our intuition and following those nudges to create, and finding joy even in the hard times. It's a juicy one! It's a high vibe convo between two coaches that goes deep in all the ways. Satisfaction guaranteed! I'm BACK in the podcasting saddle and am so thrilled to (finally) be back in the swing of things. Podcasting is something that I love and yet after taking a much needed rest, life got life-y and the pause turned into more of a hiatus. In this solo episode, I share with you a lot of what was happening behind the scenes (spoiler: shame) and reveal new knowings I've come to learn about myself after my ADHD diagnosis. I reveal LOTS of personal life updates on my husband's retirement from the Coast Guard, my mom's evolved diagnosis, and VERY exciting projects coming this spring. As always, I pull back the curtain and take you behind the scenes as I journey through idea to execution, and share the joys and challenges along the way. This episode is one of those delicious, connective, expansive conversations that really speak to the behind the scenes mindset work it takes to offer a big, beautiful vision into the world. Karen Cook is the visionary and creative behind The Wyldflower Collective. She designs, curates and hosts experiences for parents to find joy, connection and support through family dinners, workshops and incredible vacation retreats with Camp Wyld. We go deep into growing outside our comfort zone, how parents need community and support, and acknowledge just how hard it is to grow a family. Lately, I've been receiving so many downloads and noticing that the more I say YES, the more clues I get for what feels alive. Most recently, I received a lightening-strike-like download that I need to open a retail space. It was a FULL BODY YES and once it came through, I've been on a wild ride ever since. This episode shares with you the juicy details and disappointing news that lead to a very false start, and how I'm positioning myself through let down (hint: I'm wide open). I love sharing the journey with you. Because, let's face it, there is no destination. There is just alignment and inspired action...over and over and over again. Also, rest. Lots of rest. __________ You can support the podcast by sharing this episode, leaving a review or heading to my Etsy shop InspirationistArt and grab some art for your home :) Seeing my art in the world is just the best thing ever. Oh HEYYY pal! It's been a minute since I've taken some beautifully nourishing space from the podcast, but I'm BACK! This episode is filled with updates on my mom's health, the newest evolution of my relationship with her, my dad's renewed joy, and all the delicious details of my most recent project Woman Who Wander (spoiler alert: it was magic). This season is all about the intersection of creativity and SPACE, and this episode unpacks how that juxtaposition is playing out it so many ways in my life right now. __________ You can support the podcast by sharing this episode, leaving a review or heading to my Etsy shop InspirationistArt and grab some art for your home :) Seeing my art in the world is just the best thing ever. As I've been thinking about the intersection of SPACE and Creativity lately, my personal life is being rocked with mental illness. In this episode, I share about the struggles my family has had and is currently enduring with my mom's disintegrating mental health. I explore the ways SPACE has been woven into my journey with my mom's bipolar diagnosis and the way I am using it now to protect both my family and my own well-being. I invite you into the hard part of my life because I believe shining a light on the dark only creates more light. And lately it's gotten really dark. So let's be in the light together, my friends. Ohhhhh this one gave me chills as I sat down to record! In this episode, I share all the juicy details that I've dreamed up for Camp Coco, our forthcoming A-frame cabin we are planning to build here in the Lakes Region of Maine. I share our intentions, our desired layout, the non-negotiables and the overall esthetic and vibe I am going for in this space. I'm over-the-moon excited to get this project going, but the truth is, it's already started. This episode is just proof of this. The magic is already here and I'm thrilled to share all the little details and see them come to life. I even started an Instagram account @campcocomaine so it must be real, right?! In this episode I mention one of my favorite digital mentors Amber Lilystrom as well as the instagram account that is fueling so much of my inspiration for this project: Camp Wandawega. I promise these accounts will not disappoint. And finally, this episode is a calling-my-shot, time capsule kind of moment, and I can't wait to see just how many pieces of this vision come into reality. This week I have an exciting conversation with Janice Smith from Cozy Rock Cabin! Janice and her husband built a perfectly appointed, impeccably designed cabin in the woods of Freeport, ME. This episode feels so alive and juicy! It's all about creating space for listening to our own intuition. We all have internal guidance, an inner knowing, a gut feeling, a intuitive navigation system. But it's clear to me that as modern humans with access to everything at our fingertips, we tend to forget it and question or ignore the messages we receive. This episode explores the idea of creating the space to hear the nudges and practice saying yes to all the low-risk ideas that come through. I share a kismet moment with a friend that really brought this into focus and allowed this entire inspired podcast episode to flow through me. Oh baby! Last episode of the season and it's a super juicy SPARK SESSION. I've have a vision of being a short term rental host and designing a gorgeous little A-frame since moving up here to Maine. I even built one out of Lego and made a felt CAMP sign to continue to play in the joyfulness of this idea. Serving as a time-stamped place holder, this episode captures my excitement at the very real possibility of moving this vision into reality. A listing just popped onto the market two days before recording and I am swimming in delicious, white-hot inspiration. Is this the beginning of a new creative endeavor? That has yet to be revealed-But for now we can delight in the joy of the possibility. Season 3 HAS WRAPPED! It's filled with beautiful conversations on the intersection of creativity and SPIRITUALITY. On this episode, I have a beautiful conversation with mindset coach and author Garrett Wood on all things spirituality and how accessing our creativity is a spiritual quest. She offers a helpful reframe of the symbolism of the cross, and we talk through her process of birthing her first book Dare to Move. ______ Garrett Wood is the CEO/Founder of Crossroads of Fitness, a mindset and transformational coaching business for high performers, which she founded in 2014. During the early stages of Crossroads of Fitness Garrett also worked in the corporate world as a commercial real estate developer. Through multimillion dollar gas station and pharmacy projects, she learned the intricate nature of teamwork required. Today she guides visionaries to leverage teamwork and self-trust to grow and scale their businesses, while also supporting them in personal fulfillment. In 2018 Garrett published her novel based on true events, “Dare To Move.” After the book was published she launched the “Dare To Move Podcast”, wherein she creates coaching content and space for successful entrepreneurs to tell their stories. Before she became a mother, Garrett worked for several boutique fitness companies as a coach, such as Barry's, and a real estate broker. Hello Episode 40! This episode is a peek into how I used intention to create a Valentine's Day vibe that didn't involve anything store-bought or fancy, my struggle with time anxiety, and how my 30 Day Intuitive Painting Challenge has helped with that. As usual, this solo episode is a look into my never ending journey into deepening my relationship with my Creative Self. Pulling apart and unpacking old limiting beliefs and putting words around my experiences is how I honor my creativity and recommit to it every day. I feel like I'm undoing a lifetime of programming that wants me to stay small and it's so damn freeing to commit to shining as brightly as possible. ________________________________ The goal is to grow and I hope that is what this podcast is encouraging you to do. EEEIIIIIYYOOO! It's the last episode of the year and I take you through the things I'm most proud of (this pod, duh), the growing I've gone through, and the struggle I am having balancing this busy season with the work I'm inspired to do. We talk human-imposed timelines and all the 'shoulds' that come with putting my work into the world (specifically launching my Etsy shop). I pull back the curtain and share what it's like holding up the sky for everyone in my world (hashtag military wife), and how my creativity helps create connection and moments worth being present for. I wish you all a joy-filled and ease-full holiday season. And if it feels just a bit overwhelming and slightly (or not so slightly) draining, I'm right here with you. Holidays are so much extra. And we're BACK! I'm stoked start this second season with a solo! In this episode, I introduce this season's theme of CONNECTION and unpack what it means to me (and will continue to do so each solo of this season). It's been the plan since the beginning and I share what it feels like to be simultaneously standing at both the finish line and starting line at the same time. Back at the end of June I released this episode and honestly, as you can see from the show notes below, it's my favorite. I was so proud of it but TOTALLY fucked it up by attaching the wrong audio. It sat there for weeks without me noticing (there I said it, uuhhh). So as I gear up for season two, I wanted to re-release this gem in hopes it reaches more earbuds. It's just so delicious and I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed creating it! _____________________________ Ok. I'm just going to say it. I know I'm not supposed to have a favorite and that every episode baby is unique and incredible (um, duh!), but this episode changed me. I found another human that feels the way I do about ideas. Damn I feel seen! Kyle Scheele is an author, an artist, and an all around multi-passionate, big-idea + big-hearted human. His vision and tenacity is so inspiring and his dedication to ideas is just so deeply nourishing to me. It's the last episode of SEASON ONE! I'm all exclamation points right now because I DID THE THING I SAID I WAS GOING TO DO! I'm so damn proud of myself and can't think of a better guest to round out these amazing 20 episodes all about surrender! Shaelyn Cataldo joins me for a second time and we dive right back into all the ways rising requires us to root deeper, the fertile void, creating space and how she is claiming her deepest knowing: storytelling. It's a deeply nourishing episode and I know you'll feel the freedom that comes with the way Shaelyn weaves her story together. It's medicine. In this episode, I dive into the burn-it-all-down feeling I get right before I do anything remotely visible or vulnerable (so basically everything I'm creating lately), how one vintage yellow truck sparked a series of ideas that eventually gifted me the name of my forthcoming program (squeee!!), and how I'm feeling as I stretch into building this beautiful new offering. In the episode I mention my new friend, future podcast guest and licensed psychotherapist Lacy Warne. She's a great follow on Instagram so go check her out @heylacywarne And I also mentioned the porcupine IGTV video in the episode, so here ya go if you want to see me geek out over my first porcupine sighting. ____________ Please hit that SUBSCRIBE button so you can stay up to speed when episodes drop, and if you feel touched by anything in this episode, please SHARE it on Instagram and tag me. OOHHH this one's a goodie. I am learning lots of lessons in real time about slowing down, giving myself permission to evolve, and letting go of old fears and programming that no longer is serving me. This week's episode is such a beautiful conversation with my new friend Val. She is a creative mama living on a school bus and designing her life just the way her and her husband want it. I hope this episode feels like you're sitting right there with us as we get to know each other. Valerie Smith is a mother of two beautiful girls, Nova and River, doing life alongside her husband Justin. Together they travel the US in a self converted school bus while making YouTube videos documenting their experiences. They recently stated a new series called ‘Mobile Dwellings' which showcases unique stories of folks living life in a home on wheels. Val is a passionate photographer who manages a few rental properties, loves to feed her people, design spaces, and plan detailed trips adventuring with her family. Find her on Instagram at @oceanswept for her personal account, @gilliganphantom for their family bus account, and head over to their YouTube channel to watch all their adventures. ____________ Please hit that SUBSCRIBE button so you can stay up to speed when episodes drop, and if you feel touched by anything in this episode, please SHARE it on Instagram and tag me. I had the pleasure of chatting with Stacie Jeanjaquet on this week's episode. Stacie is a therapeutic yoga instructor and owner of Stacie Joy Yoga. She provides tailored sessions for trauma, anxiety, depression, cancer support, & more. She is a light and it was a 'joy' to speak with her on all things creativity. We spoke about being labeled as a 'creative' early on (or not), play and how the nervous system responds, making space both in our bodies and our environment, and a great plant hack to help with goal setting.
