Welcome to the Personal Development Trailblazers Podcast! In today's episode, we're helping parents rediscover themselves and step into their next chapter.Amanda is a wife, a proud mom of three, a corporate professional and now, a business owner! She has always wanted to be a business owner. But for years, it felt like one of those “if I could do it all over again…” kind of dreams. So instead, she built a career in corporate America growing, learning, achieving but always wondering if there was something more aligned with who she truly was.Throughout her career, curiosity led her to many career development sessions but one specifically about backwards career planning really made an impact. The exercise seemed simple: define your dream job, then map the roles needed to get there. But she hit a wall, what was her dream job? That question cracked something open in her. As she peeled back the layers, a deep truth emerged: she wanted to coach, support, guide, and develop others. That was her purpose. But it felt so disconnected from the career path she was on. So, she shelved the dream once again. And had a few more kids while she was at it. Until the universe nudged her. There was a job shadowing opportunity where she could keep her current role and start coaching colleagues on the side. And her employer was going to train her to be a coach… She couldn't sign up fast enough. She remembers when she was being interviewed for the “role” the interviewer asked her about a time she had coached someone informally and she cried while telling the story. Not because of nerves, but because she was so proud of the person she was talking about. The moment Amanda stepped into coaching, everything clicked. Her passion found a path. The world started to align in ways she never imagined. Now, she's not just dreaming about what could have been, she's living it. She has built a business rooted in growth, empowerment, and transformation. She has a beautiful family, a wonderful marriage, and a corporate career. And she's here to help others rise, shine, and evolve just like she did.Connect with Amanda Here: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61571442476982Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/evolutionary_coach860/Website:https://evolutionarycoach860.my.canva.site/rise-shine-evolutionary-coaching?fbclid=PAQ0xDSwM4F6ZleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABp3_D-UgkhLejsnvdHrPv8V99m8pDcFELFHAXKfIK4vU8zbzKoWbxEE38NG5Q_aem_2cWJv2s8-O_lZedPUGA1wg===================================If you enjoyed this episode, remember to hit the like button and subscribe. We all grow up with a variety of experiences, especially when it comes to the different parenting styles we observe from our own parents and others around us. These different styles shape who we become, and if we're parents ourselves, they influence how we raise our children. In this month's M2P Podcast, Sass, Amy, and Chris explore how developing a healthy parenting style can help kids and teens grow into the people God has designed them to be. They also offer valuable insights for ministry leaders on how to support and encourage parents as they guide their children in both life and faith while continuing to grow and learn themselves.

What is Conscious Parenting? Conscious parenting goes beyond positive parenting by prioritizing self-awareness, personal healing, and understanding the root causes of emotional triggers. Bryana explains how addressing parents' unresolved issues can create a healthier environment for children, often alleviating behavioral challenges. Bryana emphasizes the need to manage stress and prevent burnout by helping parents regulate their own emotions before addressing their children's behavior. She stresses the importance of setting consistent boundaries while staying attuned to the child's perspective. “One generation shall praise Your works to another, And shall declare Your mighty acts.” Psalm 145:4. With all the craziness going on in the world, is it any wonder why our children are so confused? And parents may be feeling like they are alone in their struggle with what to do and say. Elizabeth Urbanowicz is Founder & CEO of Foundation Worldview and is equipping parents to raise kids who won't walk away from Jesus. She offers us help and encourages parents to keep going. She points parents away from comparison and unrealistic goals set by social and mainstream media. And she is passionate about helping kids to understand the truth of the Christian worldview and to be lifelong disciples of Jesus Christ.
Jane Wise is a certified addictions counselor who, like me, provides both individual and group support for parents of ROGD kids. After learning that parents who questioned their children's gender identity were not only lacking in support, but were being called bigots and transphobes just for worrying about their kids, Jane decided to use her skills as a group counselor to help provide a space for them to support each other. In this episode, we compare and contrast our approaches to helping ROGD parents, work that occupies relatively new and uncharted territory in a cultural and political landscape that remains hostile toward the concerns of both parents and mental health professionals. Jane shares her personal evolution from a staunch supporter of the trans movement to a critical observer, shedding light on the struggles faced by parents navigating rapid onset gender dysphoria in their children. The episode touches on the delicate balance between offering support and avoiding enabling harmful decisions, drawing parallels between addiction dynamics and gender identity exploration. We discuss the emotional turmoil experienced by parents, the impact of societal pressures, and the importance of maintaining hope amidst uncertainty. We explore the concept of motivational interviewing and its application in guiding parents through difficult conversations with their children. I also share a sneak preview of a few concepts from my upcoming course for parents.Jane Wise is a certified addictions counselor who facilitates one of the regional, monthly parent support groups for Parents of ROGD Kids. Jane is not a parent herself, but after learning that parents who questioned their children's gender identity were not only lacking in support, but were being called bigots and transphobes just for worrying about their kids, she decided to use her skills as a group counselor to help provide a space for them to support each other. “A good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children, but the sinner's wealth is laid up for the righteous.” - Proverbs 13:22We're all familiar with that verse, but do we fully understand its meaning? Is it only about money? I'll talk about that with Harlan Accola today.Harlan Accola is the National Reverse Mortgage Director at Movement Mortgage, an underwriter of Faith and Finance. He is also the author of Home Equity and Reverse Mortgages: The Cinderella of the Baby Boomer Retirement. The Misconception of Leaving a Financial InheritanceAs Christians, we often forget that the most important legacy we can pass on is our faith and wisdom, especially financial wisdom, to help our children avoid mistakes we've made. Much like other private topics, money management is rarely discussed but is critically important. Many people believe they must leave a financial inheritance, particularly their home, to their children, stemming from historical practices of passing down farms or businesses. This belief often leads the elderly to sacrifice their own comfort. However, assets, including homes, should be viewed like any other possession. It's unfortunate that some elderly individuals avoid reverse mortgages and live in poverty to preserve their homes for their heirs, driven by fears that this approach might be unbiblical or might upset their children.Starting the Conversation EarlyThe solution to these issues is early and open conversation. Often, parents are private and embarrassed about their financial struggles. Children can initiate these discussions, reassuring their parents that it's not about the inheritance but their well-being. Most children wouldn't want their parents to forego basic necessities or bucket list vacations for a larger inheritance. They appreciate their parents' hard work and want them to enjoy the fruits of their labor. For adult children wanting to start this conversation with their parents, Harlan suggests using examples from family and friends who faced long-term care issues or probate messes to discuss their own family's plans. It's crucial to make clear that the motivation is not about receiving an inheritance but about ensuring the parents' comfort and security. Clear instructions from parents can prevent family conflicts later on.Mechanics of a Reverse MortgageRegarding reverse mortgages, it's important to note that homes will continue to appreciate, often leaving equity for heirs. It is generally better to give with a warm hand or leave behind assets like Roth IRAs and life insurance proceeds instead of a home. Additionally, heirs might be able to deduct unpaid interest and mortgage insurance, potentially erasing significant tax liabilities. If you're looking for a mortgage solution or have questions about whether a reverse mortgage is right for you, you can contact Movement Mortgage at movement.com/faith.On Today's Program, Rob Answers Listener Questions:My husband's wallet has been lost, and his social security card was in it. I'm wondering if we've done everything we should to protect ourselves or if there's something else we could do. We've already canceled our credit card.Resources Mentioned:Movement MortgageAnnualCreditReport.comRich Toward God: A Study on the Parable of the Rich FoolFind a Certified Kingdom Advisor (CKA) or Certified Christian Financial Counselor (CertCFC)FaithFi App Remember, you can call in to ask your questions most days at (800) 525-7000. Many folks think it’s wrong not to leave a financial inheritance to their kids, sometimes leading them to sacrifice more than they should. But it’s safe to say most children don’t want to see their parents struggle financially. So, what’s the balance? On today's Faith & Finance Live, host Rob West will welcome Harlan Accola to explain a financial option for seniors that is often misunderstood. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Episode 389 - Gail Hugman - Helping parents and children work together on their education as a teamAboutYou can spend many thousands of pounds on school and tutor fees to ensure that your child gets the best start in life but this investment can be seriously undermined by their lack of motivation, attitude or weak learning skills. I help to put this right. Using exceptional tools and resources, I design and deliver inspirational teaching sessions specifically for your child in your home or via Skype to help them become a happy, enthusiastic, motivated youngster who is reaching potential, proud of themselves and their achievements and a real credit to you. I have forty years teaching experience on which to draw when designing teaching sessions for individual children. Passionate about human development, the neuroscience of learning and key skills, my work focuses on ensuring your child gets specifically what they need to have a positive mindset, great attitude and the drive to succeed. I know there isn't time to teach this in school and that the majority of parents do not have either the time, skills or knowledge to do it themselves.I have an excellent track record supporting children through entrance exams up to and including 13+ into many of the leading schools in the country both internally and via Skype/FaceTime when they are relocating from abroad to the UK.If you agree that that your child 'could do better' and you want to do something about it, get in touch, I'd love to hear from you.Book: Making the Pennies Drop - This practical guide to understanding how your child works by Gail Hugman follows on from 100 Things to Learn Before You're 10, and A short and Simple book for the Why's.Gail shares her innovative approach that helps parents and caregivers not just support their children, to learn the skills they need for a successful life, but to work with them as a team.https://amzn.to/3z0K6zxhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/lessonsalive/?originalSubdomain=ukSupport the Show.___https://livingthenextchapter.com/podcast produced by: https://truemediasolutions.ca/

Renee has been told what she does is unique–she helps protective mothers in a custody battle against a narcissistic co-parent to go into family court and get the custody arrangement that's best for their kids. Like her, these women have suffered psychological abuse at the hands of their former partners and are working to ensure their children are protected from further cruelty. Her company, Best Foot Forward, has been around for over 5 years. It's an example of a number of things: changing careers mid-life, pulling oneself up after trauma, doing it all as a single mom, and bringing a sense of adventure and a sense of humor to it all…even a heavy subject like what she immerses herself in every day! And that's what she does–follow a business model focused on empowering parents to help themselves and find a shining bright light at the end of a long, dark tunnel. Her turning point was during her custody battle for her son, after leaving a relationship rife with mental abuse. As a daughter of a Puerto Rican father whose family sought a better life on the mainland when he was 12 and a mother who only later pursued her GED, education and hard work was impressed upon her. She was the first to graduate from college, the perfect Catholic student, who ended up having a child with a cruel, covert narcissist (diagnosed). She had been a performance coach for a couple decades, and switched her career to help other women succeed in dealing with their narcissistic nightmares. Now she's focused on creating reverberating change in the new field of “divorce coaching”, as a custody consultant, Violence Against Women (VAW) Advocate, and a certified instructional designer…melding it all together to allow abused parents to find self-empowerment again. The Custody BlueprintTM (TCB) exists to prepare protective parents for court through Strategy, Mindset and Evidence and using truth and virtue even in the face of lies and manipulation. She finds that moms are dependent on their lawyers to save them, and they have no real sense of how best to present their evidence in court. What really sets her blueprint apart is focusing on the mindset of dealing with a high-conflict co-parent--both in a custody battle AND as a mom trying to co-parent with a damaged individual. The shame, the guilt, the helplessness...is addressed in her TCB program.

Emily is the author of three data-based books on pregnancy and parenting as well as the newsletter , and in the very first episode of So Into That, she teaches us how to pull off soft pants at work, and how to relax as parents. We also get into: * Why Emily thinks moms are so anxious about everything these days* Is sleep training messing up our kids?* Is baby-led weaning a cure to picky eating?* Whether the kids enrolled in every single extra-curricular are going to be the most successful* What Emily's “so out on” right now* Our IRL LOLs of the week* What she cooks when she doesn't feel like cookingLinks: * Emily's newsletter * Emily's books* Emily's Instagram* The Athleta pants Emily's so into* The ones Caro's so into* The really nice thing that the cup company that Caro now feels bad about picking on didSponsor: * Skout Organic kids snack bars (Code: CARO for a discount)If you liked what you heard in this episode, follow So Into That in your favorite podcast app or learn more at whattocook.substack.com.
