Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor is a Harvard trained and published neuroanatomist who is affiliated with the DePaul University School of Education. In 1996, Dr. Taylor experienced a major hemorrhage in the left hemisphere of her brain causing her to lose the ability to walk, talk, read, write or recall any of her life. It took eight years for her to completely recover. In 2008 her memoir My Stroke of Insight spent 63 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list, and her TED talk was the first to go viral. Imagine discovering four distinct “personalities” inside your brain—each with its own way of thinking, feeling, and experiencing the world. That's exactly what Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor, a Harvard-trained neuroanatomist, revealed after surviving a major left-hemisphere stroke that erased her ability to walk, talk, and even recall her name. In this transformative conversation, Ben Owden dives into how Dr. Jill's ordeal led her to a life-changing discovery: we each have four characters in our brains, and learning to embrace them all helps us live as our fullest, most human selves.Drawing on her bestselling books, My Stroke of Insight and Whole Brain Living, Dr. Jill explains how tapping into both the structured, logical power of our left hemisphere AND the creative, interconnected genius of our right hemisphere can spark deeper relationships, fuel business innovation, and help us truly flourish—both at work and in life. She demystifies the science behind the four “characters” in your brain, shows how to notice which one is “driving” your behavior at any moment, and offers practical strategies to shift between them by choice. If you've ever felt torn between productivity and play, logic and intuition, or wondered how to heal from past pain without losing your spark, this episode offers real neuroscience to back up your intuition that wholeness is possible. Every once in a while, a story comes along that fundamentally shifts how we understand the human mind. Imagine losing all sense of past and future, stripped of language, logic, and identity. Imagine drifting into a state where the endless mental chatter disappears, and all that remains is the raw, undeniable presence of the present moment." Hmmm? Sounds nice no This is exactly what happened to Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor, a Harvard-trained neuroanatomist, best-selling author, and one of TIME Magazine's 100 Most Influential People in the World. At just 37 years old, a catastrophic stroke shut down the left hemisphere of her brain, forcing her into an extraordinary journey of survival, recovery, and insight. As a scientist, she had the rare opportunity to study her brain from the inside out, providing an unparalleled perspective on consciousness itself." This perspective is Dr. Jill's gift to the world. But Dr. Taylor's story isn't just about survival, it's about transformation. Over the course of eight years, she not only regained her cognitive abilities but emerged with a new understanding of the brain and how we engage with it. Her book, My Stroke of Insight, became a global phenomenon, and her famous TED Talk remains one of the most viewed of all time, forever changing how we think about left-brain and right-brain dynamics. Today, she continues to push the boundaries of neuroscience with her book Whole Brain Living, where she introduces the revolutionary concept of the Four Characters, distinct neural networks within our left and right hemispheres that influence the way we think, feel, and behave. Pertinent to our show and my work with the IRS (Interface Response System), she presents the Brain Huddle, a practice designed to help us understand, embrace and integrate all four characters in real-time, allowing us to consciously choose our preferred response to life's challenges rather than being ruled by programmed and conditioned reactions. Beyond her research, Dr. Taylor is also a passionate advocate for mental health, an artist, and an educator who helps people understand how to live more intentionally through the power of neuroplasticity. She shares her time between scientific research, speaking engagements, and her creative work, which is living proof that a balanced brain leads to a balanced life. In today's conversation, we're diving deep into her groundbreaking insights and exploring how her work aligns with the conscious decision-making framework of the Interface Response System (IRS). Can we learn to choose which hemisphere we engage with in the moment? Can we override our pre-programmed emotional responses and instead step into awareness, peace, and clarity? And if we can, how do we practice this in daily life for a more optimal experience? Let's find out. It is an all too human tendency to react to stressful situations in counterproductive ways, to attack out of intense emotion without a clear purpose, to accommodate long after it's healthy to do so, or to avoid addressing situations that are destructive. While these are rarely wise strategies, they are disastrous strategies prior to, in the midst of, and post divorce. During this episode and the following two Team Talks, Karen McMahon and Lisa Brick discuss an alternative approach to attacking, accommodating, and avoiding, help you to understand what part of your brain gets hijacked when you do, and how to be proactive, forward looking, and purposeful. When you use all of your brain, not just the hijacked parts, to handle the challenges that arise around divorce you begin to master your situation. These three Team Talks are based on the research and findings of neuroanatomist Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor in her 2021 book, Whole Brain Living: the Anatomy of Choice and the Four Characters That Drive Our Lives. Dr Jill Bolte-Taylor was a neuroanatomist at Harvard when she suffered a severe stroke on the left hemisphere of her brain. It was an experience which profoundly changed her life, and opened her up to the agency we all have in choosing our attention. She explores this in her TED talk back in 2008, which became one of the most popular TED talks ever. In this conversation we explore Jill's question 'who are we, and what are we doing here?', doing so through the lens of neuroanatomy, as well as her experience of having a stroke. Many of the ideas we explore are unpacked further in her book Whole Brain Living.
Neuroanatomist Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor explains the 4 key ”characters” of the brain, and how understanding each can expand your perception of yourself, and the world, forever. At age 37, neuroanatomist Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor suffered a stroke that would take her eight years to fully recover from. This is how it changed her understanding of the brain. In this interview, Dr. Jill draws a map of the human brain, explaining how it is comprised of four distinct modules, each serving a unique role in function and personality. This combination of cognitive and emotional components gives rise to the multidimensional characters within each of us. Are you looking to be more rational, more creative, more forgiving, or perhaps less rigid in your thinking? Dr. Jill suggests that by becoming aware of the four modules of our brains, we can consciously choose to engage specific parts. This awareness allows us to harness the true power of our brains and shape who we want to become, ultimately fostering less anxiety, more inner peace, and a vastly more purposeful life. This week on the show I'm thrilled to share with you my conversation with Dr. Jill Bolte-Taylor. Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor is a Harvard-trained and published neuroanatomist whose research specialized in understanding how our brain creates our perception of reality. As irony would have it, in 1996 at the age of 37, Dr. Jill experienced a severe hemorrhage in the left hemisphere of her brain. On the afternoon of this rare form of stroke (AVM), she could not walk, talk, read, write, or recall any of her life. It took eight years for Dr. Jill to completely rebuild her brain to recover all physical, emotional, and thinking abilities.Learn more at www.drjilltaylor.comBooks written by Dr. Jill Bolte-Taylor:My Stroke of InsightWhole Brain Living: The Anatomy of Choice & The Four Characters that Drive Our LifeDr. Jill's Ted Talk New to the podcast? While we might lean more towards left or right brain thinking, we use them both. In fact, it is important we do. And we can. In this episode of Breaking Bread, Ted Witzig Jr., Brian Sutter, Kaleb Beyer and Kathy Knochel help us understand how important it is that we connect with people with both halves of our brain.
Two halves make a whole. This is true for everything. But it is uniquely true for our brains. Each half, the left and the right, bring a wholeness that without either one, we are much less than half. In this episode of Breaking Bread, Ted Witzig Jr., Brian Sutter, Kaleb Beyer and Kathy Knochel help us better understand the vast wonder of our created brains and give us a vision for healthy functioning that uses whole brain living. Show notes: The left brain (hemisphere) is understood to be the seat of rational logic. It excels in language, math and science. The right brain (hemisphere) is understood to be the seat of emotional perception. It excels in music, art and fantasy. It is common that people tend toward one side over the other. That is, they view the world, engage in relationships and respond to their environments by leading with one side of the brain over the other. Whole brain living is seeking to understand the value that each brain hemisphere brings. It is possible to grow in our ability to use whole brain thinking. In fact, whole brain living will aid connection in our relationships, understanding of other people, processing our environments and the worship of God.

The concept of the word “mother” has been a life-long journey of exploration for Dr. Gertrude Lyons. She is the Founder of Rewrite the Mother Code, where she encourages and inspires women to explore what mothering and motherhood can be to them. Dr. Lyons, challenges the statement that you have to have kids in your life to be a mother, and believes instead that maternal power lives in us all. She will discuss that profound statement today, along with some of her revelations when she was starting her family and more recently when she was preparing to be the mother of the bride. This episode is for every girl and woman who wants to explore the many forms of mothering and being a “mother.” IN THIS EPISODE: [3:42] Dr. Lyons shares details about her family and being the mother of the bride [8:45] Dr. Lyons discussed the feelings she processed anticipating her daughter's wedding, taking her back to the birth of her daughter [12:03] She accepts that even without children, she and her husband constitute a family. [15:48] Dr. Lyons thinks deeply about the patriarchal role of a wedding, being a woman, and what a family [18:57] Dr. Lyons discusses mothering in the many ways it is possible [25:59] Dr. Lyons discusses the word mother in different forms: motherhood and mothering [31:12] Dr. Lyons talks about coaching and how she supports women [36:01] She outlines how she coaches new mothers [39:27] Dr. Lyons discusses men in a mothering role KEY TAKEAWAYS: Mothering is a nurturing quality that can apply to children, but also a project or to other people or other people's children. Family can be defined in many ways. A married couple without children is a family. A woman doesn't lose her identity of who she is when she becomes a mother. One common misconception about how our brains work is that the right side is associated with emotions, while the left side controls rational thinking. In reality, the left and right hemispheres of our brains each have their own thinking and feeling systems, creating four specific parts of the brain that have different functions and personalities. By embracing whole brain living – or getting to know and accept the different parts of our brains and how they work together – we can enjoy the gifts of all of them and empower ourselves to make better choices on a moment-by-moment basis. As the author of “Whole Brain Living: The Anatomy of Choice and the Four Characters That Drive Our Life,” Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor is a Harvard-trained and published neuroanatomist who is now affiliated with the Indiana University School of Medicine Department of Neurology. She is also the author of the New York Times bestseller, “My Stroke of Insight,” which documents her personal experience with a severe hemorrhage in the left hemisphere of her brain that caused her to lose the ability to walk, talk, read, write, or recall any of her life. Dr. Taylor is a dynamic teacher and public speaker who loves educating all age groups, academic levels, and corporations about the beauty of our human brain, and how we can work with ourselves to live a more peaceful life. In Episode 158 of The MINDSet Game® podcast, Dr. Taylor discusses the following: An overview of the anatomy of the brain, including the reptilian and mammalian parts, as well as the right hemisphere (which is focused on the present moment) and the left hemisphere (which is able to consider the past and future) The different traits of the four “characters” in our brains: character one, or left thinking, which favors order and control; character two, or left emotion, which can bring the pain of past experiences into the present; character three, or right emotion, where the boundaries we create for ourselves begin to dissolve, allowing us to access greater joy and creativity; and character four, or right thinking, which experiences simple awareness and awe of our own existence A practice known as a “brain huddle” that can help you bring all four parts of your brain into balance To learn more about Dr. Taylor and her work, visit https://www.drjilltaylor.com. Your Thoughts Feed The Quantum Field Whether or not you might realize it, everything about you is made of energy, including your thoughts. Your thoughts, whether kind, heart-centered, resentful, mean, or lacking hope, will feed your mind and body and the larger field of energy around you. Our thoughts contribute to greater collective consciousness. I like to think about it like the old cartoons where you'd see thought bubbles above the character's head. Imagine if you combined all the thought bubbles around our heads into one giant thought bubble. That's what the collective consciousness is — one massive thought bubble of energy and emotion generated by you and me. This means that what you're thinking and saying to yourself matters not only for your mind, body, and emotional well-being but also for the collective. Pretty powerful, right?! How To Stop Your Negative Thoughts We all experience in the ballpark of 70,000 thoughts a day. Many of these thoughts are negative, throw-away thoughts that don't add value or support to your self-esteem. The problem is that over time it's easy to start believing your negative thoughts, which leads to a cascade of negative consequences affecting your well-being and life. There is a way out, and it starts with greater awareness. The simple way to know when you've treaded in dangerous negative thought territory is by how you feel. If a thought has you feeling overwhelmed, angry, resentful, envious, or lacking energy, you know that you're in the neighborhood of unhelpful thoughts. If thought is life-giving and for your highest good, you'll feel greater vitality, energy, and positivity. Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor talked about this in past interviews in our conversation about her brilliant book, Whole Brain Living. She reminds us that we are emotional beings first, who then think. This means that your emotions are excellent indications of the kinds of thoughts you are having. The good news is that once you learn how to become an observer and get out of judgment, you can develop the ability to change your thoughts quickly. This transformative episode taught us the importance of overcoming self-criticism for mental well-being and personal growth. By embracing our imperfections, cultivating self-compassion, and building a solid support system, we can break free from the chains of self-criticism and embark on a journey of self-discovery and self-acceptance. In 1996, Jill Bolte Taylor was a brain researcher at Harvard when she had a stroke. The bleed was on the left side of her brain. With the critical left brain circuitry off line, she no longer possessed the ability to communicate, she had no memories of her past, no executive functionality and she existed in a blissful state where she recognized no boundaries between herself and the universe. It would take her eight years to regain full brain functionality. She wrote to describe the experience, did a Ted Talk, and then to share the remarkable insights she gained on how our brains function. This podcast is positively life changing. Inspired by her brother's lifelong battle with psychosis brought on by schizophrenia, Dr. Jill dedicated her career to researching how our brain determines our perception of reality. In the midst of her career, at 37, Dr. Jill experienced a severe stroke in the left hemisphere of her brain that left her unable to read, write, walk, or talk. Over the next eight years, Dr. Jill navigated her road to recovery, which led her to the Miracle Zone. Her insight into the importance of the present moment is just one of her discoveries that impacted her recovery. She has since inspired millions of people with everything she has learned. Dr. Jill shares her truly miraculous story as well as discoveries on the four parts of our brain and their role in living a miraculous life. She shares how to do a "Brain Huddle" that allows us to live in the moment. and her powerful 90-second rule plus a whole lot more! “That's the beauty of life. I can be open to what is–instead of holding on to how I want it to be, how it used to be, or how I need it to be. We tend to think of emotions as things that “just happen,” and there's a lot of truth in that. But it's also true that we have far more agency to cultivate and develop our emotional life in specific and stunning ways, changing the experience and direction of our lives. We don't have to become stuck in emotions or live devoid of emotion. In this episode, we follow the work of Dr. Candace Pert and explore the physiology of emotions: that emotions are based in chemical realities grounded in “molecules of emotion”—neurotransmitters and neuropeptides. That this physicality is actually the basis of our spirituality. And that we have power to experience emotion in stunning ways which can ultimately help us change the world around us.

The better you understand your brain – and the more effectively you can work with it – the happier and healthier you will be. This is the central contention of today's extraordinary guest, Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor and she makes this assertion based on two levels of deep expertise. First, Dr. Taylor is a Harvard-trained neuroanatomist. Second, back in the ‘90s, she experienced a severe hemorrhage in the left hemisphere of her brain causing her to lose the ability to walk, talk, read, write or recall any of her life. She later recovered, but that experience, which you will hear her describe in riveting detail, gave her incredible insight into how the brain works. She wrote a massive best-selling book called, My Stroke of Insight, which she has now followed up with a book called, Whole Brain Living, where she lays out exactly how to understand your brain and how to work with it.In this episode we talk about:Dr. Taylor's personal story and how her life has changed post-strokeThe marvels of the human brainThe differences between the brain's two hemispheres How our society is skewed towards the left hemisphere and how living too much in the left hemisphere can burn us outThe brain's “four characters” and how to work with these characters through a practice she calls “The Brain Huddle” The differences and similarities between “The Brain Huddle” and another practice we've talked about before on this show called, “RAIN”And she describes a tool for understanding your emotions called, “The 90-Second Rule”Full Shownotes: https://www.tenpercent.com/podcast-episode/jill-bolte-taylor-552See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
This episode follows the work of neuroscientist Jill Bolte Taylor, who experienced a stroke and had her left brain (including verbal processing) go off-line in an instant. Her story leads us into an understanding of the four "characters" in our brains (two in the left hemisphere and two in the right), which are the sources of our self-focus, our fear, our drive towards connection, and our ability to experience awe, wonder, and mysticism. What is revealed is a staggering reality: we have the power to choose which brain circuitry to run and which brain characters to empower on a daily basis. In this episode we dive into the what of Bolte Taylor's research and, more important, how we can implement life-changing practices that change our thinking and our lives.

Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor is an author, speaker, and Harvard-trained neuroanatomist. You may remember her from her Ted Talk (viewed by over 27 mm people) and her NY Times best-selling book, My Stroke of Insight, A Brain Scientists Journey. In this book, she chronicles the experience of her rare stroke at the age of 37. She lost her ability to walk, talk, read, write, or recall any of her past. It took eight years for her to rebuild her brain — to recover all physical, emotional, and thinking abilities. Her second book is called Whole Brain Living, The Anatomy of Choice and the Four Characters That Drive Our Life. In this book, she blends neuroanatomy with psychology to illustrate how we can short-circuit emotional reactivity to lead a more fulfilling and peaceful life. Most of us have been led to believe that our right brain houses our emotions and the left brain our rational thinking. Jill shares that it's not that simple. Each of our hemispheres has both an emotional and a thinking brain. In this book, she presents these four distinct modules of cells in the brain as four characters that make up who we are. She presents a whole new language that we can use to understand our behaviors, feelings, and emotions. In this discussion, she introduces us to the 4 characters and offers ways we can find more peace in our daily lives and create healthier relationships. The more we become familiar with each of the characters in ourselves and others, the more power we gain over our thoughts, feelings, relationships, and our lives. Indeed, she says, we discover that we really do have the power to choose who and how we want to be in every moment.
In the second Slo Mo Rewind, I revisit my life changing chat with one of my heroes, Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor. She is a Harvard-trained and published neuroscientist. In 1996 she experienced a severe hemorrhage in the left hemisphere of her brain causing her to lose the ability to walk, talk, read, write, or recall any of her life. Her memoir, My Stroke of Insight, documenting her experience with stroke and eight-year recovery, spent 63 weeks on the New York Times nonfiction bestseller list and is still routinely the #1 book about strokes on Amazon. In 2008 she gave the first TED talk that ever went viral on the Internet, which now has well over 26 million views. Also in 2008, Dr. Jill was chosen as one of Time magazine's “100 Most Influential People in the World” and was the premiere guest on Oprah Winfrey's “Soul Series” webcast. In her newest book, Whole Brain Living: The Anatomy of Choice and the Four Characters That Drive Our Life, Dr. Jill debunks the myths that we use only 10% of our brain as well as the idea that our right brain hemisphere is our emotional brain, while our left brain houses our rational thinking.Listen as we discuss:What is 'Whole Brain Living'?What she's learned since her hit TED talk. The four characters of the brain:Character 1: Left thinking tissue is the rational brain that defines the boundaries of ourselves as individuals, has language, and seeks material gain.Character 2: Left emotional tissue that sounds the alarm to protect us against the unfamiliar.Character 3: Right emotional tissue that lives to only experience in the present moment without comparison or time. No conflict can be solved by two Character 2's, and the present moment is perfect.Character 4: Right thinking tissue that embodies the thinking consciousness of the universe, knows no boundaries, and exists only to love, be grateful, and experience blissful euphoria. Purely in awe and blissful euphoria. Is love a thought or an emotion? Our first job as human beings is to love one another. Period. The left brain should not be the boss. The B.R.A.I.N. HuddleHow Jill gave her TED talk because she wanted us to love and revere each other, not her.Character 4 is who we are. The others are so noisy. Her new book, Whole Brain Living, is her roadmap to accomplish her life's work - the reason why she recovered from her stroke.Psychedelics can induce similar states that bring us to Character 4.Character 2 is the one that needs to go into rehab in order to break addictions. Is there a masculine and feminine divide, or is just a cultural construct?Life knows that the present moment is fabulous.Connect with Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor and her book, Whole Brain Living, here.YouTube: @mogawdatofficialInstagram: @mo_gawdatFacebook: @mo.gawdat.officialTwitter: @mgawdatLinkedIn: /in/mogawdatWebsite: mogawdat.comDon't forget to subscribe to Slo Mo for new episodes every Saturday. If you're looking for a shot of energy, take a listen to this electric podcast episode with Jill Bolte Taylor, neuroscientist and author of My Stroke of Insight and Whole Brain Living. Jill was also a beloved featured guest on Debra's very first Astrological Immersion. We hope you'll join us for our next Immersion in late January 2023: http://appliedastrology.me/ In the meantime, enjoy this episode and let it energize you- it's better than espresso! Jill's background in neuroscience was her gateway to spirituality, she reveals, after she had a stroke and spent some time living in her right brain. According to Jill, the “old her” died after the stroke and she was reborn into the person she is now. Thus, Jill has two Astrology charts, her original birth chart, where she has Sun in Taurus, and her rebirth chart which boasts a Sun in Sagittarius! What a difference! Tune in to hear Debra and Jill explore the dynamics of both charts in this episode which is such a unique perspective. Jill explains her major life moments as “tsunamis” and how these profound experiences allowed her frequency to become “regulated for love.” After Jill's first-to-go-viral TED Talk in 2008, she became an international speaking sensation and proceeded to work on her next book about “whole brain living.” Whole brain living defines the four parts of our brain that act as the control center, and demonstrates how to balance them for maximum happiness. Character 1 goes to work, Character 2 keeps us safe, Character 3 likes to play and have fun, Character 4 connects us with greater purpose. Keep these characters in mind while you listen to this episode. Turning on the Observer, as Debra teaches, allows one to be able to pull back and see their four characters; to choose who to be and how to respond. As Jill says throughout the episode, we have the power to choose who and how we want to be in each moment. Astrology and the four elements beautifully mirror the whole brain and the four characters. This is a story that couldn't possibly fit in the allotted time, but Debra and Jill pack a punch of wisdom into this episode. It's a don't miss for anyone seeking confirmation of their varied, unique selves or those looking for a funny, profoundly inspirational listening experience that has a message of universal love! Meet Dr. Margaret Paul Dr. Margaret Paul is a bestselling author of 12 published books, relationship expert, and co-creator of the powerful Inner Bonding® self-healing process. She has appeared on numerous radio and television shows, including Oprah. Margaret is a member of the Transformational Leadership Council. Dr. Paul has been recognized as a luminary and leader in the field of psychology and personal growth by Jack Canfield, Alanis Morissette, Neale Donald Walsch, and John Gray, to name a few. First off, I firmly believe that there is a crisis of self-abandonment and a lack of self-love and self-kindness. We dove deep into how to change this disturbing habit and belief system that can wreak havoc on your immune system and body. I know from my own experience that my own past health issues with my thyroid and immune system had everything to do with not knowing how to honor my feelings or take care of myself. I have no doubt that so many illnesses and physical ailments are due to a lack of self-care, self-love, self-kindness, and ultimately self-abandonment. You will learn in this conversation the powerful process of Inner Bonding, one that Dr. Margaret has used with thousands of patients (including herself), and how to use this healing process with yourself. I highly recommend you get her book, The Inner Bonding Workbook, and make your own Inner Bonding work a real priority. If you need any proof, watch Dr. Margaret on my YouTube channel (https://youtube.com/juliereisler) and you will see the pure joy and love emanating out of her and how kind the years have been through this work (seriously, you won't believe that she is 83). What Does Self-Abandonment Really Mean Self-abandonment is when you are taking care of everyone else but yourself. Most of us are trained to abandon ourselves because our culture, family of origin, religion, or surroundings teach us that it is selfish to care for ourselves first. You can't do this without experiencing physical symptoms. Self-care is actually the opposite of selfishness because it's about taking responsibility for yourself and your well-being. You then take yourself out of the victim mode. Blaming others for your well-being and issues is actually selfish. Taking care of yourself relieves the burden of others taking care of you. Get the difference? This is a powerful distinction. The Inner Bonding process is all about moving out of our head focus into a body focus so we can learn to truly love ourselves, and receive guidance from our Higher Self for the rest of our life. The 6-Step Process to Inner Bonding: Be willing to be present with your feelings, including those of loneliness, pain, sadness, and despair. You'll go back to being present and take responsibility for your feelings so that you can get out of your head and into your body and heart. Breathe into your heart and be open to learning about how to love yourself. In this step, you will start to gain access to your higher self, when your frequency is high enough. Keep your body clean with healthy, nourishing, clean organic foods. Keep your thoughts clear and clean as well. Eating well is loving to your body and your whole self. Because Spirit exists at such a high frequency, the more you are in alignment with this energy level, the more you can get 'at will divine guidance'. Imagine a wiser part of yourself (500 years older) full of power, truth, and wisdom, and invite that higher self part of you in. This is the 'loving adult' that lives within each of us. In doing this you'll develop new neural pathways in the brain. Breathe back into your feelings. For example, if you felt numb and depressed, go back into those feelings and imagine these feelings as your inner child. Ask this part of you: 'How am I treating you? What am I telling you?' We caused our own self-abandonment, so this step is crucial for taking responsibility and discovering how we're abandoning ourselves. This is connecting to our younger self, our 'wounded ego self', which is also Character 2 for those who have read Whole Brain Living by Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor, or heard either of our two interviews. To listen to either interview, go to: https://youtu.be/gox_ZIwZdpk or https://youtu.be/_LisJ6vFwEk. There's always a belief, usually about fear, to better understand and discover. Dialogue with your higher guidance about your false beliefs. Ask this part of yourself: 'What is loving to me? What is in my highest good right now?' Take loving action (the more you do this, the more you're programming yourself to be kind and loving to yourself in thought and action) Go back to how you are feeling --- if it's a loving action, you'll feel relief and you won't feel shame or fear. Inner Bonding is about knowing you are never alone and that you can access your Higher Guidance at any time. Your guidance is ALWAYS there, my friend. My favorite quote from our conversation (which brought tears to my eyes) was this: "We're on the planet to evolve our ability to love". I agree with Dr. Margaret, this is the purpose of connecting to your You-est You. May you remember this goal to be more loving and expand your capacity for love, in all ways, always.
