The first half of the year ended in style, and all that happened in Hungary is discussed in the last podcast before the summer break. The race was made so great largely by the chaos of the first few laps, with Valtteri Bottas channelling his inner terminator and Lewis Hamilton being the only man on the grid for the restart after a mishap on his part. Such chaos is what the PF1 team look at first. The pair then turn their attention to the fight for the win that followed. Esteban Ocon prevailed thanks to a perfect performance, while Fernando Alonso played a big part too with the stunning manner in which he held off Hamilton. Has the Frenchman restored his reputation as one of the best young guns around, and being a team player, is the Spaniard better than ever?Alonso wasn't the only older head to impress in Budapest with Sebastian Vettel crossing the line in P2 after an excellent drive. Disqualification may take away the result, but it takes nothing away from his performance, and Michelle and Finley couldn't be happier to see him thrive. They agree though that in a day full of feel-good stories, perhaps the biggest of them came further down the grid, with Williams scoring their first double-points finish since 2018 and their first points at all since 2019. How big a result was that for them, and how great was George Russell's emotional reaction to it?To round off the episode, the bigger picture is looked at, with the state of the title fight between Hamilton and Max Verstappen heading into the second half of the year being discussed.Twitter: @Planet_F1Facebook: Planet F1

It took less than a lap for the British Grand Prix to produce one of the biggest talking points of the season, and plenty more followed. The race at Silverstone started with a bang as Max Verstappen went crashing out of the race after colliding with Lewis Hamilton, and that incident is the first thing that the PF1 team discuss. Did Hamilton deserve his penalty? Should he have had a harsher one? Or was it a racing incident?Regardless, it was an excellent drive from Hamilton from that point onwards, and one that well and truly brought the title fight to life again. In fact, Finley and henry think it may have been one of his best races of the season. After paying tribute to that performance, the pair then move on to an arguably even more impressive one from the Ferrari of Charles Leclerc, who so nearly won in a car that isn't anywhere near the fastest on the grid. The drive reminded us all of just how good he is, and made the battle with McLaren very interesting indeed. The Monegasque may well have been the driver of the weekend, but Fernando Alonso could stake a strong claim for that title himself after a stunning sprint qualifying and a very solid race. How good is he at the age of 39? Judging by how he did at Silverstone, as good as ever.Sebastian Vettel spun fighting his old foe early on and thus ruined his race, but he deserves plenty of plaudits for his off-track display as he kindly stayed behind after the race to help clean up. On a day when things got perhaps a bit too heated in the world of Formula 1, it was the sort of feel-good story that the sport needed.Twitter: @Planet_F1Facebook: Planet F1

A real anomaly is discussed in the latest episode of Torquing Point; an absolute thriller of a French Grand Prix. There are a number of things that made it so good, but the main one was the titanic battle at the front between Mercedes and Red Bull. In a reverse of Barcelona, it was Max Verstappen's team that won the race thanks to a two-stop strategy this time around, but the Dutchman still had a lot of work to do. He drove a near-perfect race, as did Lewis Hamilton, and Finley and Henery applaud them both.  The fight for the win was made all the more interesting by the fact that Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas got involved? just how important is the Mexican to Red Bull, and why oh why didn't Mercedes listen to the Finn?  Behind the top four, McLaren were the winners of the day with Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo in P5 and P6. The PF1 team discuss how strong a lineup that is when firing, and wonder where the fight for P3 in the standings will go from here after a terrible day for Ferrari.  Coming home just behind the McLaren pair was Pierre Gasly, who was once again one of the most impressive drivers of the weekend. Given how good he looks and the fact that Esetabn Ocon was firmly second best to Fernando Alonso, have Alpine been a bit rash with their decision to give their man a new three-year deal? The Aston Martin drivers are then looked at, with both doing excellently to secure a double-points finish. Is Sebastian Vettel back? And does Lance Stroll get the credit he deserves? As far as races go, few require more discussion than those that take place in Baku, and that was the case again this year. As usual, Finley and Henry start off the latest episode of Torquing Point by taking a look at the fight at the front between Red Bull and Mercedes.  For the first time this year, Sergio Perez got himself right in the mix of it, and while it was issues for his rivals that handed him the win, he drove well enough to deserve it, holding his own against Lewis Hamilton all day. Given how good he looked, you can't help but wonder: is this the start of his career as a top driver who can regularly challenge for victories?  As for Hamilton and Max Verstappen, they both ended up leaving Baku with zero points added to their tally, but which of them does the 0-0 draw benefit more in the context of the title fight, and who will be rueing their ultimately poor result more? One thing's for sure, neither will feel quite as bad as Valtteri Bottas after his disaster of a weekend. Hamilton's and Verstappen's losses were Sebastian Vettel's and Pierre Gasly's gains as they both claimed their first podiums of the season with excellent performances. Looking at his last two races, it's hard not to think that the old Vettel is back, and looking at his last two years as a whole, it's hard not to wish that Gasly could be given a top seat already.  Vettel wasn't the only older head to impress in the City of Wind as, not for the first time, Fernando Alonso also did so, thanks in large part to a stunning last few laps. The efforts of the Spaniard are applauded before the improved but less impressive display of another man who has impressed at the track in the past, Daniel Ricciardo, is discussed. The fortunes of Yuki Tsunoda and the clash between the Haas boys are also looked at, and the PF1 team then wrap things up by trying their very best to get excited about the next race, the French Grand Prix. Given that there was next to no on-track action at the Monaco Grand Prix, there's a remarkable amount of stuff from it that needs discussing. For instance, Max Verstappen is suddenly now leading the Drivers' Championship for the first time ever, while Red Bull are ahead of Mercedes in the Constructors' Championship. How did that happen?Finley and Henry start off by looking at just that, paying tribute to two excellent drives from Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez, wondering why the real Lewis Hamilton never showed up and paying sympathies to poor old Valtteri Bottas. For the first time this year though, Red Bull and Mercedes aren't the only teams to discuss when looking at the fight for the win, with Ferrari also looking excellent in Monte Carlo. Just how good is that car? And the same question has to be asked of the man who drove it home in P2, Carlos Sainz. What a season he's having. So too his former team-mate and buddy Lando Norris, who claimed his second podium of the year and consolidated P3 in the standings. While he thrives though, his team-mate flounders, with Daniel Ricciardo looking a shadow of the man who won at the very same track. Should we start to be concerned about his form?Another driver to previously win the race for Red Bull was much better, with Sebastian Vettel putting in his best performance in a long time. Whisper it quietly, but he may still have it...After applauding his efforts, the PF1 team then take a look at the young guns who are getting the better of their title-winning team-mates and assess how the three rookies handled one of the sport's biggest challenges before discussing whether that challenge should remain on the calendar given the somewhat dull affair it's been in recent times.Twitter: @Planet_F1Facebook: Planet F1

Much to the delight of the Torquing Point team, the Spanish Grand Prix actually produced an entertaining race for a change. That was mainly due to the fight at the front as we were treated to round four of the Lewis Hamilton vs Max Verstappen show. Finley and Henry kick things off by looking at how the Brit ultimately prevailed. It may have been his team's excellent strategy call that was the main reason that he won, but that takes nothing away from his drive, with the Mercedes man barely putting a foot wrong all race. Is there any stopping him?Hamilton didn't have many issues making his through traffic to catch Verstappen, but one man who didn't move aside for him was his team-mate, Valtteri Bottas. Does the fact that he's finally defying team orders show that he's aware this could well be his final season with the team? Most likely.Behind the front three, Ferrari and McLaren were once again the stand-out teams, with Charles Leclerc particularly impressive, being a long way ahead of the rest of the midfield all weekend. In fact, he may not have won the official award, but he's Torquing Point's Driver of the Day. Another contender for that award was Daniel Ricciardo, who finished in P6 and had the upper hand on team-mate Lando Norris all weekend. Many expected him to get the better of Norris this season; will he now kick on and do so? It'll be tight either way, as will the fight between the two teams...The other team looking best placed to join that fight is Alpine, with the car looking particularly unimpressive in the hands of Esteban Ocon. Fernando Alonso has been unable to match the Frenchman in recent weeks, but should and his fans be worried about his form just yet? Finally, the PF1 team round things off by paying tribute to the ever-impressive Mick Schumacher, who looked good again, and the various pit-crews of the grid who faced and overcame some rather unusual challenges in Barcelona.Twitter: @Planet_F1Facebook: Planet F1

It may have turned out to be a bit of a dull affair, but the Portuguese Grand Prix still threw up a number of conversation topics. As has been the case all season. the biggest of them came at the front of the grid, with Lewis Hamilton prevailing in a battle with Valtteri Bottas and Max Verstappen to take victory.Finley and Michelle start off by looking at that battle, discussing whether Mercedes had a quicker car than Red Bull and worrying that, even though it's just an eight-point gap, Hamilton may start to run away with the title, especially if Verstappen keeps exceeding those pesky track limits. On the bright side for Red Bull, Sergio Perez is starting to look more and more comfortable in his car and wasn't too far off Bottas by the end of running on race-day. Both look set to be number two driver this year, but once he has a few more races under his belt, will Checo be a better one than the Finn? His race was hindered early on by Lando Norris, and for the third time in three aces, the McLaren man was one of the most impressive drivers on the grid. The PF1 team pay tribute to him as well as Fernando Alonso who, after a poor qualifying, looked back to his best on Sunday. With his team, Alpine, looking better, the midfield battle is really heating up. Another man to impress was the son of Alonso's old rival. He may have only finished in P17, but it was an excellent race for Mick Schumacher as he got the better of Nicholas Latifi with a lovely move and was lightyears ahead of his team-mate, Nikita Mazepin. Things are looking good for the German.Twitter: @Planet_F1Facebook: Planet F1

With rain, Red Flags and rivals clashing, The Emilia Romagna Grand Prix left Torquing Point with no shortage of talking points.Henry Valantine joins Finley to discuss the race, and the pair start off with the fight at the front between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton. Unlike in Bahrain, the Dutchman prevailed this time around, putting in the perfect drive to storm to victory. He'll take a lot of confidence from that, but asides from his costly mistake, Hamilton still looked pretty handy himself. Can the Red Bull man really challenge him over the course of a season? Judging by that performance, yes. While Verstappen and Hamilton thrived, their team-mates didn't, with the latter's failing to even survive. Valtteri Bottas may not have been massively at fault in the collision with George Russell, but the fact that he was being overtaken by the Williams man in the first place is cause for concern. As for Russell, the PF1 team are in agreement that his behaviour following the incident was unsavoury, to say the least, and makes his intentions clear. The mask has slipped; he wants that Mercedes seat, and he'll do everything he can on and off the track to get it.One young Brit to fair much better than him was Lando Norris, who claimed his second podium with a stunning drive. With him on form and Daniel Ricciardo willing to play the team game, could McLaren have the best lineup on the grid once the Aussie finds his feet? They'll need both to be at their best if they are to claim P3 in the Constructors' Championship again, as Ferrari are looking mighty strong too, with a good car and two drivers performing well, and Finley and Henry couldn't be happier to see the two teams do battle once again. They may not be alone in the fight for P3 either, with Pierre Gasly impressing with an excellent recovery drive in an AlphaTauri that has a lot of pace. If they are to get in the mix though, Yuki Tsunoda needs to cut out the mistakes.Twitter: @Planet_F1Facebook: Planet F1

Formula 1 is back, and Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen and the rest of the grid left Torquing Point with plenty of talking points. So often last season, there was little to say about Hamilton's wins such was his dominance, but that certainly wasn't the case at the Bahrain Grand Prix. Given how thrilling his fight with Verstappen was, it's the only place to start. Finley and Michelle analyse the battle between the two and how and why the Mercedes man ultimately prevailed. He may have done so this time, but did the Dutchman and Red Bull show that they're ready to challenge him for a title? If they are to do, they'll need some help from Sergio Perez, and judging by how he did in his first race for the team, they'll get it. In fact, so good was his charge from the pit-lane to P5 that the PF1 team can see him getting the better of Valtteri Bottas at the least once he starts further up the order.Once all matters at the front are covered, the discussion then moves on to the stand-out drivers of the midfield, with Charles Leclerc, Lando Norris, Yuki Tsunoda and Fernando Alonso receiving most of the praise for their efforts. One man not receiving such praise is Sebastian Vettel, who picked up where he left off in 2020, continuing to struggle and making sloppy mistakes. If race number one at Aston Martin was a sign of things to come, his days in F1 may well be numbered. Look on the bright side though, Seb, it could be worse. You could be worse Nikita Mazepin. The Russian couldn't have made a worse start to his F1 career if he tried after crashing out at the start. If he wants to improve his reputation, that's not the way to go about it.His team-mate, Mick Schumacher, had a better debut race, doing all that was required of him, making it to the end. The Haas undoubtedly seems to be the worst car on the grid, but that could at least ease some of the immense pressure on Mick's shoulders.Twitter: @Planet_F1Facebook: Planet F1

Red Bull looked stronger than Mercedes in pre-season testing and have their best lineup in years; can they finally take the fight to the German team? What's more, can Max Verstappen challenge Lewis Hamilton for the title?Even if that's not the case, the 2021 season is sure to be exciting for the midfield battle alone. The chances of some sort of a Ferrari revival are discussed, McLaren's new pairing of Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo is looked at and the PF1 team get pumped at the prospect of Sebastian Vettel and Fernando Alonso doing battle again.Attention then turns to the backmarkers. Alfa Romeo look to have taken some steps forward, but can they realistically challenge the midfield? Regardless, they'll surely be ahead of Williams and Haas, who are expected to fight for P9. Even that far down the grid, with George Russell involved and the Schumacher name back, there are reasons to be excited.Once every team is discussed, the episode ends as any season preview should; with some big predictions being made.Twitter: @Planet_F1Facebook: Planet F1

Where do his achievements in 2020 rank amongst his many others? And just how much more can he achieve before he calls it a day? They then take a look at the other drivers in the top two teams, debating whether Valtteri Bottas is good enough for Mercedes, applauding Max Verstappen for his excellent season and analysing why things didn't work out for Alex Albon.  After doing so, attention then turns to perhaps the highlight of the season: the midfield battle. Perhaps the stand-out drivers in that group were Sergio Perez, Daniel Ricciardo and Pierre Gasly, and their excellent seasons are all explored in-depth. So too are the contrasting fortunes of McLaren and Ferrari. Were did it all go right for the former and where did it all go so horribly wrong for the latter? Well, how long have you got?... Given that, Finley and Michelle can't help but despair over the fact that it's on the calendar at all, let alone as the final race. After doing so, they then discuss the race-winner, Max Verstappen. It may not have been as exciting or dramatic as some of his other victories, but both agree that it was one of his most impressive, and dream about how great a title fight between the Dutchman and Lewis Hamilton would be. Maybe one day... The pair then take a look at Verstappen's team-mate Alex Albon. If rumours are to be believed, Red Bull have decided to replace him Sergio Perez, but should they be believed? And in finishing in P4, did he do enough to change his team's mind? The focus then turns the multiple journeys that came to an end in Abu Dhabi. One of them was Sebastian Vettel's with Ferrari, and the PF1 team consider whether it was, on the whole, a successful partnership, even if it didn't produce a title.  The man replacing him, Carlos Sainz, is then discussed. How will he feel about leaving a team in far better shape, McLaren, for the Italian outfit? Can he challenge Charles Leclerc more than Vettel did? And will Ferrari let him? The final parts of the episode, and Torquing Point's coverage of the 2020 season, consist of a look at the drivers seemingly leaving the grid for good, and an evaluation of how successful this year has been for the sport. Various 2020 races have left the PF1 team with plenty to discuss, but perhaps none more so than the Sakhir Grand Prix. The fact that Sergio Perez winning it arguably wasn't the biggest talking point says it all. Nevertheless, the episode kicks off with a look at his remarkable triumph.  Luck did undoubtedly play a large role in it, but given how he fought his way up the order after falling to last place at the end of the first lap, it was a stunning performance regardless, and one worthy of a win.  Was it enough to finally convince Red Bull to sign him? It should have been. Will Racing Point be regretting letting him go at the end of the season? They should be. Perez took his first-ever win in F1, but for the vast majority of the race, it looked like a different man would do so. George Russell.  The young Brit was hugely impressive standing in for Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes and would have almost certainly claimed victory if not for his team's pit-stop disaster and a late puncture. While he may not be happy with the result now, it may just turn out to be one of the best, and most important, weekends of his career. That's because, by undoubtedly coming out on top against Valtteri Bottas, he's all but secured a 2022 seat at the German team. However, could he end there even sooner given how well he performed? Finley and Michelle take a look... The pair then share their thoughts on the alternate layout used for the second of the two races in Bahrain and discuss whether, given how thrilling the Grand Prix was, it should be used again in the future, before taking a look ahead to next week's season finale in Abu Dhabi and briefly paying tribute to a man who unfortunately won't be there, Romain Grosjean. The biggest talking point of the Bahrain Grand Prix came on Lap 1 as the race became a mere after-thought to Romain Grosjean's crash. Given this, the latest episode of Torquing Point focuses on the incident, looking at how it impacts the sport and what it says about the safety standards. Finley and Michelle start off by recalling what their first impressions were when the huge explosion was seen in the background of the television coverage. The only thing more shocking than the incident itself was the fact that the Frenchman managed to emerge from the flames largely unscathed, and the pair then discuss just how that was the case. It was in large part due to the halo, which begs the question, has that debate finally been put to rest for good?  With Grosjean leaving the sport at the end of the season, they then ponder whether the world will see him in an F1 car again. Minor burns may have been the only injuries he sustained, but there's more than just his physical wellbeing to consider. There was, of course, a race that followed the crash, and it is discussed, however inconsequential it may have felt in comparison.  Alex Albon took the second podium of his season and career, finishing in P3, but given that he only did so because of Sergio Perez's engine failure, is it really enough for Red Bull to justify keeping him rather than signing the Mexican? And Would Helmut Marko and co be mad for doing so? Mercedes's number two driver, Valtteri Bottas, was even less impressive, struggling to recover after an early puncture and only managing P8. If he wants to challenge Lewis Hamilton for the title next season, he needs to gather some momentum in the final two races. The first of said races will be at Bahrain again, but it will be on the outer-track layout. The PF1 team look ahead to that before giving their final thoughts on Grosjean's crash, being thankful for the people that came to his rescue and, most importantly, that everything worked out alright in the end. Lewis Hamilton stole the show at the Turkish Grand Prix, but his brilliance isn't the only thing from the race that needs discussing. Istanbul Park has always been a popular circuit, so excitement was high ahead of its long-awaited return to the sport. Finley and Michelle discuss the latest episode of Torquing Point by discussing whether it lived up to expectations, and why it was so challenging for drivers.  They then move on to undoubtedly the biggest story of the weekend, Lewis Hamilton, as the Brit equalled Michael Schumacher's record tally of seven World Championships in some style with a stunning drive. How big of an achievement is it? And just how long can his reign of dominance go on for? Following Hamilton home in P2, albeit some way behind, was the Racing Point of Sergio Perez. He now sits in P4 in the Driver's championship despite missing two races this year. He's been in the form of his life, is one of the driver's of the season, and unquestionably deserves a seat for next year, but whether he'll get one is another matter... The final man on the podium was the man who is taking Perez's place at Racing Point, soon to be known as Aston Martin, in 2021, Sebastian Vettel. The German finally looked like his old self again, but is he back for good? And if so, just how much can he achieve with his new team, next year and beyond? To wrap things up, the PF1 team then take a brief look back at the five races that were added late to the 2020 calendar as stand-in races and choose which ones they'd most like to see stick around for next season. There's much to discuss following an Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix that featured plenty of triumphs, and a few disasters. As has so often been the case in 2020, one of those to triumph was Lewis Hamilton who, with a dose of luck, won yet again. Finley and Michelle kick things off by pondering whether he would he have done so without said luck. His win and Valtteri Bottas's P2 finish were enough to seal Mercedes' seventh straight Constructors' Championship. Are they the most dominant force in the history of F1? Is such dominance good for the sport? And will it continue when Hamilton and Toto Wolff do eventually leave? Joining the Silver Arrows on the podium was Daniel Ricciardo. With two-top three finishes in three races and P4 in the standings almost secured, the PF1 team reckon he's making quite the claim for the Driver of the Season accolade.  His success is in part down to Renault's improvement though, with the French team now P3 in both the pecking order and the championship. Whisper it quietly, but Fernando Alonso may have actually made a good career decision for once... Coming home just behind Ricciardo was his former team-mate, Daniil Kvyat. His days in F1 look all but over, and judging by that performance, that could be seen as somewhat harsh. Still, at least he's going out on a high. Attention is then turned to a man who didn't have such a good day, George Russell. For not the first time in his short F1 career, he had a point in his grasp, but made a huge mistake and lost out. Portimao's first Formula 1 race was a good one, and it threw up plenty of talking points for the latest episode of Torquing Point. The biggest of them is, once again, Lewis Hamilton. The Mercedes driver is now officially the most prolific race-winner in the history of the sport, and win number 92 was once of his best yet. With a dominant car for at least another year and no signs of slowing down, just how many victories will he have to his name when he eventually retires? For the first time this season, Finley and Michelle then discuss what was, in many ways, a good weekend for Ferrari, as Charles Leclerc started and finished P4 and looked strong all weekend. Is this the start of a resurgence for the Italian team? Perhaps, but not on both sides of the garage, as Sebastian Vettel was again nowhere near his team-mate. Whether the reason for this is preferential treatment, different cars or Leclerc simply being that much better is up for debate, but regardless, it doesn't reflect well on Vettel or his team. The German wasn't the worst performing team-mate at the Portuguese Grand Prix though; that title goes to Alex Albon, who had yet another poor race. To make matters worse for him, two potential rivals for his seat, Pierre Gasly and Sergio Perez, were excellent. That being said, neither of them is the favourite to replace the Thai driver should he be dropped. Nico Hulkenberg looks set to do so if Red Bull decide a change is necessary, but what are the chances of it happening? And if it does, will that be the end of Albon's time in F1? Oh, and what on earth did Gasly to not even be considered? Helmut Marko is likely the only man that has the answer to that, but the PF1 give their best guesses... That's undoubtedly the case for Lewis Hamilton, who won at the Nurburgring to match Michael Schumacher's record tally of 91 victories. Finley and Michelle get things started by reflecting on how big of an achievement this is, how he compares to the German and by having the inevitable GOAT discussion.  The race in Germany was also a memorable one for Daniel Ricciardo, who finally returned to the podium for the first time since 2018. He now has five consecutive top-six finishes and is P4 in the Driver's Championship, which begs the question: Is he the driver of the season? And will his form be enough for Renault to secure P3 in the Constructors'? Right now, Racing Point occupies that spot, and that's in part due to the incredible efforts of Nico Hulkenberg. The German started the race at the back of the grid with four laps of prior running under his belt and finished it in P8. He was undoubtedly Driver of the Day and showed he's one of the best around. Someone give him a seat.  Many feel that he deserves Alex Albon's, and that's an opinion that would have only grown given Red Bull driver's terrible showing at the Nurburgring. Despite this, his team refuse to criticise him and look likely to keep him for 2021. Why are they so much more lenient with him than they were with Pierre Gasly? Arguably the most important moment of the race came before it even started, as Lewis Hamilton ended up being handed a 10-second time penalty for practising a start outside the designated area. Finley and Michelle get things started by wondering how the Brit and his team made such a rookie error and discussing his far from ideal reaction to the decision.  Hamilton loss was Valtteri Bottas's gain, and the Finn returned to the top step of the podium for the first since the season opener in Austria? Would he have won if not for his team-mates penalty? And can this result kick-start something of a resurgence for him? The fight for P3 in the Constructor's Championship is turning out to be the most interesting battle of 2020, and that was again the case in Sochi. The pair pay tribute to the two stand-out drivers, Daniel Ricciardo and Sergio Perez, and agree that Hamilton could learn something from the former, while the latter deserves better from his team.  The 2020 race was arguably the best one Sochi has produced since joining the calendar in 2014, and it still wasn't great by any means. Madness in Mugello made it two great races in a row, and again left the PF1 team the task of making sense of the carnage. We did our best... After a messy first corner of the Tuscan Grand Prix, the chaos reached another level nine laps later. Finley and Michelle kick things off by taking a look at the Safety Car restart that led to a huge incident, debating who, if anyone, was the blame for the pile-up that took out four cars. The incident brought out the first of two Red Flags for the race, and with so many of those being waved recently, the pair discuss what the current state of affairs is when a race is suspended. Are standing starts the way to go? Should drivers be allowed a free pit-stop? In a race that just 12 drivers finished, there were some stand-out performances that need to be talked about. As per usual, one of them came courtesy of Lewis Hamilton. Even after a poor start, he recovered to cruise to victory and take a step closer to sporting immortality. It begs the question, does Valtteri Bottas really believe that he can beat the Brit? Behind the Mercedes drivers, Alex Albon passed Daniel Ricciardo to take P3 and his first-ever podium. With Pierre Gasly winning in Monza and Max Verstappen retiring early on at Mugello, there was more pressure than ever on the Thai driver, and it's fair to say he delivered. Looking ahead, it may well be the drive that secures him a 2021 seat at Red Bull... Given it was Ferrari's 1000th anniversary in F1, they just have to be discussed. After becoming somewhat stale, the 2020 season burst into life with an incredible Italian Grand Prix, and the PF1 team couldn't be happier. When discussing the race, the only place to start is with Pierre Gasly. Given the year he's had, he's fast becoming one of the sport's greatest stories and best drivers. Did he just get lucky? What does the triumph mean for his career? Is a Red Bull return on the cards? One thing is certain - if he keeps driving like he is, the grid is his oyster. While Carlos Sainz may have been gutted to miss out on the win, it was still an excellent race for him and McLaren. Sainz and Lando Norris finished in P2 and P4 respectively and, unlike Gasly, they would've finished as high if not higher without the Safety Cars and Red Flag. With two podiums and 98 points to their name, the British team look to be back in the big time. What's more, with Mercedes engines next year, they'll be aiming even higher than P3 in the Constructors' Championship. The standing start with a mixed-up grid and the glorious 25 or so laps that followed were the perfect advertisement for reverse grid races, so is it time that they were introduced in some form, whether it be on Saturdays or Sundays? However, while he's set to break record after record, his team-mate Valtteri Bottas can't get anywhere near him. Given how things are going for Mercedes though, do they really care? The same question can be posed to Red Bull. Alex Albon finished the race in P6, over 25 seconds behind Max Verstappen, but he wasn't helped by the strategy he was handed. Should he be worried about losing his seat, or are Red Bull happy to keep him as a human guinea pig for his team-mates strategies? Either way, his mood won't be helped by the brilliance of Pierre Gasly, and a moment is taken to pay tribute to his performances.  Finishing ahead of Albon were the Renaults of Daniel Ricciardo and Esteban Ocon. The Aussie was particularly impressive, and the pair debate just how good he is before taking a look at the midfield battle going forward. With just nine points separating McLaren in P3 and Renault in P6, it's sure to be tasty.  One team who McLaren won't be worrying about is Ferrari, and the Italian team is the last topic of the episode. The podcast has covered silly season matters at Ferrari and Renault; next up, a look at where things stand at the team to beat, Mercedes. The tenth episode of Torquing Point gets underway with a brief look at why Lewis Hamilton isn't going anywhere, before moving onto the more questionable matter of who will partner him.    With Valtteri Bottas out of contract at the end of this season, rumours of him leaving are beginning to pile up once again. Finley and Michelle discuss whether he's done enough to extend his stay with the Silver Arrows and consider what his other options may be if not.  The pair then take a look at who could replace the Finn. Sebastian Vettel and George Russell are the two most popular options amongst the listeners, but which is more likely to happen? Would a Vettel-Hamilton partnership cause issues, and is it too soon for Russell to make the step-up? Once this is discussed, some listener comments are read out before Finley and Michelle make their own predictions on whom they think will be driving alongside Hamilton in 2021 and beyond.  Follow Planet F1: Twitter: @Planet_F1 Facebook: Planet F1
