The Team Principal Podcast is back! On episode 2, Otmar Szafnauer - the former TP of Racing Point, Alpine and Aston Martin - is joined by Ben Anderson to get into the thorny subject of F1 politics. They begin by discussing internal politics at Red Bull, and whether they played a part in the team dropping Liam Lawson for Yuki Tsunoda after just two races. Otmar also shares his thoughts on how fellow TP Christian Horner has managed the situation. After that, Otmar discusses the times in his career where he's had to deal with intra-team politics, including the time he had to resist pressure from a team owner to sign a particular driver, and the time he had to convince Alpine management to capitalise on uncertainty around a driver's contract. He also explains how team culture is essential to prevent political in-fighting within a team, and how politics contributed to his Alpine exit. There's also chat about inter-team politics, and the tactics teams use off-track to gain an edge over the opposition. Otmar also recalls the time he found himself in the middle of a political storm over the so-called ‘Pink Mercedes' affair, and explains how and why alliances shift between teams. He also takes us into a meeting of team principals, explains how bosses use the media for their own benefit, and much more.Plus, after Eddie Jordan's sad recent passing, Otmar pays tribute to a fellow team principal gone too soon.Join The Race Members' Club on Patreon today - we even have an F1-only tier! This week we take the audience into the heart of an F1 team and look at how crucial decisions get made that can push the team up, or down, the grid; from where to spend the budget to get the best results, to hiring and firing drivers. Otmar Szafnauer is a very experienced F1 team principal of Force India, Racing Point, Aston Martin and Alpine, with strong track record of getting bang for buck. He was fired by Alpine year ago, over a disagreement with Alpine management on what was the right pathway to success. We discuss what data teams use to choose their drivers, whether hiring a rookie for 2025 is a smart idea and what has made McLaren competitive this year. Plus Otmar gives us a teasing view on new teams coming into the sport. To break this all down James is joined in the studio by Autosport F1 Editor Jon Noble and Chief Motorsport Writer Ben Hunt. She didn't set out to be a Grand Prix-winning Formula 1 strategist, but Bernie Collins raced to the very top. She pulled the strategy strings at Force India, Racing Point and Aston Martin, masterminded an emotional race win with Sergio Perez, and guided Sebastian Vettel to his final F1 podium. Bernie tells Tom Clarkson how she and her fellow strategists prepared for races, reacted to the on-track action, and balanced risk and reward to get the best result possible. Bernie remembers her deep-end debut as a race strategist, how competing at the front of the field brings extra pressure, why working at one of F1's smaller teams ‘made her career' and what she learned working with Perez, Vettel and Jenson Button. Bernie also explains how an interest in maths and physics led her to study mechanical engineering at university, then to move into motorsport and, ultimately, reach Formula 1 This episode is sponsored by: Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe: learn more about the all-new AMG GT and the AMG portfolio at MBUSA.com/AMG. After two bangers in Bahrain, Formula 1 moved to its season finale in Abu Dhabi, where the Tilke designed Yas Marina Circuit offered us fireworks but only in the literal sense. P3 in the constructors was on the line between Renault, Racing Point, and McLaren, yet McLaren showed up with some smooth operating that has the boys wondering if the upward trend with the woking outfit is a sign of things to come. Also in this episode, with LH44 back on the grid yet not feeling his best, the door was left open for Red Bull and Max to remind the Merc outfit they're not invincible in consecutive weeks. The boys recap all this and more from the race in the desert as only they know how in the penultimate episode of The Grandstand in 2020.

A timely feature because immediately after we'd written and designed it, Daniel Ricciardo scored Renault's first podium since its return as a manufacturer in 2016. We talk about McLaren's plans to sell and then lease back its factory. And we interview Kimi Raikkonen, who has now started more grands prix than anybody else. Spoilers: he's not impressed.

Yıl Dönümü Grand Prix var. Red Bull'un başarılı lastik ve pit stop stratejisi neticesinde Max Verstappen'ın 33 numaralı aracının damalı bayrağı ilk sırada gördüğü yarışta Mercedes'in yaşadığı lastik sorunları ve takım içi telsiz konuşmaları, Charles Lerclerc'in üst üste ikinci yarış haftasında da imkânsız görüneni başarması, “lastiği kalmayan” Kevin Magnussen'ın yarış dışı kalması gibi konulara da değiniyoruz. Racing Point'e verilen cezayı, Renault'nun yaşadığı hayal kırıklığını, Sebastian Vettel'in ruh halini konuştuktan sonra 33 numaranın kazandığı bir başka yarışa ve Brno'da tüm öngörüleri boşa çıkaran MotoGP podyumuna sıçrıyoruz. Brad Binder'ı ve KTM takımını kutladıktan sonra Superbike'ta Jonathan Rea'nin kusursuz hafta sonunu, Toprak Razgatlıoğlu, Deniz Öncü, Can Öncü, Bahattin Sofuoğlu, Cem Bölükbaşı ve ikinci Porsche Supercup sezonunun ilk yarış zaferini yine Silverstone'da kutlayan Ayhancan Güven'in yarışlarını değerlendiriyoruz.
This week we discuss more build up to the Renault vs. Racing Point decision, Imola's altered format, and a lot of tire hype for this weekends race! Also some poor past F1 marshal, RIP. Week between British Grand Prixs 2020 Editor's favorite quote: "Monza used to be like an American racing oval on super steroids, on like Barry Bonds level of steroids."
Formula 1 gündeminin ardından yarışçılarımız Toprak Razgatlıoğlu, Ayhancan Güven, Berkay Besler, Can Öncü ve Bahattin Sofuoğlu'nun serilerinde aldığı sonuçları yorumluyoruz.
We're three races into this pandemic shortened 2020 Formula 1 season and after two thrillers in Austria, the Hungarian GP did not disappoint either. If the season keeps up this way, will we see some of the best overall racing in the hybrid era this season? PMoney and F*ckin Knowles unpack an absolute masterclass weekend from P1 all the way through the last lap for Lewis, the continued evolution of Racing Point (and the still laughable parts challenge from Renault), why F1 can't seem to get it together when it comes to Black Lives Matters, and the dumpster fire that is Ferrari. All this and more, plus as always, the best banter in F1 on this Episode of The Grandstand!
