They had no champagne for Nico! After a decade in the sport, where neither Nico Hulkenberg and Sauber had made it to the podium, the team decided there was no need to lug champagne around the world. But a thrilling, rainy race at Silverstone gave them a reason to celebrate. Plus! The old men, Nico Hulkenberg, Lewis Hamilton, and Fernando Alonso all deliver while the rookies falter. That self-inflicted penalty on Oscar Piastri. Will it cost him the championship? Driver moves! Is Yuki out? Is Bottas back in? Will Mercedes really drop $500 million (or more) to get Max Verstappen? And what of George Russell? (Recorded before the bombshell news of Christian Horner's firing.)It took a few races more than expected but Lewis Hamilton is now outperforming teammate Charles Leclerc at Ferrari. Max Verstappen won the pole for the British GP - but by Sunday evening that seemed an age away: McLaren-Mercedes scored another easy one-two (or was it a two-one?); Nico Hulkenberg finished a staggering P3 for Sauber-Ferrari; Sir Lewis Hamilton was fourth, thereby losing his 12-year podium streak at Silverstone to the driver who spent more time than any other to break his podium duck - and Max could finish only fifth in a difficult-to-manage Red Bull-Honda. Welcome to our motorsports podcast where we discuss F1, IndyCar, IMSA, NASCAR, our own racing adventures, and some other adventures! This one is for the older guys - Nico Hulkenburg, Scott Dixon, and Shane Van Gisbergen show the younger guys it can still be done!Although both McLaren drivers dominated the British GP with Lando taking the win, it was Nico Hulkenberg who made the headlines as he scored his first career F1 podium finish after starting 19th on the grid! It was a wet and wild grand prix that tested the strategists to their limits. The experience and good timing from the Sauber pit wall helped launch Nico far up the grid to grab the team's first podium since Kamui Kobayashi at Suzuka in 2012.Indycar went to Mid-Ohio where it was the Chip Ganassi show by the end of the race. Alex Palou leading within the final 10 laps and Scott Dixon behind after saving fuel to make a two stop strategy work from starting 9th on the grid. With the laps winding down, Palou makes a rare mistake by going wide and off the track slightly which slowed him up enough that Dixon was able to capitalize and get ahead of Palou for the eventual win! Dixon is the third race winner for this season but this win now makes it 21 consecutive seasons with a win for Scott Dixon!NASCAR was at the park in the windy city of Chicago. SVG dominated the weekend in not just the Cup series but in Xfinity as well. This is two wins in the season for SVG now which moves him up in the standings for the playoff picture.Coming up this weekend: NASCAR at Sonoma, IndyCar is at Iowa for a double header, IMSA is at Mosport, and WEC is at Interlagos.
Can you believe we now live in a world where Nico Hulkenberg has an F1 podium?Topics covered: -- RAM president now overseeing all Stellantis brands-- NASCAR conducts EV "race" in Chicago-- Featured Paint Scheme-- Upshift/Downshift-- Final WordFollow us on social media:@RobandRoller@Roller_01@Rpeeters33

Sanción, a mi juicio, merecida. Mercedes Reserve driver Fred Vesti and Fox Sports Mexico journalist Diego Mejia join Tom Clarkson in the Silverstone paddock to reflect on an action-packed British Grand Prix. Lando Norris won his home race for the first time to reduce the gap to his teammate and World Championship leader Oscar Piastri to eight points. What does that victory mean for Lando? How much momentum does winning back-to-back races give him? And after a 10-second penalty for a Safety Car infringement cost Oscar a chance of winning, how will he approach the next race? Nico Hulkenberg made history by securing the first podium of his F1 career in his 15th season and on his 239th race start. How did he climb from last on the grid to take P3 and hold off a charging Lewis Hamilton? Sauber Team Principal Jonathan Wheatley and CEO Mattia Binotto reflect on a ‘masterclass' drive and what this result means for Nico and the team. Also on the agenda: why wasn't Hamilton able to continue his incredible run of being on the podium at every British Grand Prix since 2014? And how did Max Verstappen go from a sensational pole position on Saturday to having an ‘undriveable car' in the wet conditions on Sunday? The British Grand Prix didn't disappoint, with a dream victory for Lando Norris, beating teammate Oscar Piastri after the Australian picked up a 10-second penalty for erratic driving behind the Safety Car. But the star of the show was Sauber's Nico Hulkenberg, who after 15 years and 239 starts in Formula 1, finally got his first podium finish. Autosport Editor-In-Chief Kevin Turner sits down with Jake Boxall-Legge and Ronald Vording to discuss all the action and news from Silverstone. Including Hulk's "incredible" podium, whether Piastri should have been penalised, Max Verstappen's spin from second and the persistent rumours over his future, and Mohammed Ben Sulayem's challenger for FIA President, Tim Mayer.

We discuss whether the stewards got the call right. There's also plenty of chat about Nico Hulkenberg's hugely popular first podium finish in F1, and how the Sauber driver was able to rise from P19 on the grid to the top 3, holding off Silverstone specialist Lewis Hamilton in the process. Welcome to the post-race LIVE show. Needless to say that our heads are spinning after an epic British Grand Prix this Sunday at Silverstone. A big win for Lando Norris, a small disappointment for Oscar Piastri, but a major milestone for Nico Hulkenberg and team Sauber. Let's go! Share you thoughts in the comments below. Was Norris gifted a win by the FIA? How did Hulkenberg score his first podium - was it on merit? Did we see an emotional Piastri for the first time when he shamelessly asked for a swap with Norris? How did race tyre strategy unravel for Charles Leclerc & George Russell, also another retirement for Mercedes & Andrea Kimi Antonelli. And finally, was the FIA fair in penalising Piastri? And did they discuss this with the drivers in the briefing before setting a new precedent in race penalties? And for those who thought the Safety Car did more racing, in the first half of the race, boy did we get a show, including the position swaps by Lewis Hamilton. An amazingly chaotic, crazy race day caused by the changeable weather, and decisions in reactions to the rain that teams had to do ! Also the incredible job of keeping these fast F1 cars on the track that all drivers faced today. There were a lot of drivers and cars that fell victim but the day belonged to Mclaren and Norris who claimed a victory thanks to a 10 Sec penalty leveled at Paistri for brake testing Max behind the safety car ! But the massive highlight of the race was actually not Norris surprisingly it was Nico Hulkenberg who secured a podium after 238 race starts, and securing a podium for Kick Sauber after 13 years ! He did not put a foot wrong in these very diffcult conditions, and the team executed without any mistakes !! He made history today !

McLaren conquered Spielberg and Red Bull walked away with nothing.Climb the ladder with me over on Patreon: https://patreon.com/lawvsIn this more raw race report than usual, there was a lot to unpack despite the leader of the race ultimately remaining the same from qualifying. McLaren's pace was without doubt at the 2025 Austrian Grand Prix as Lando Norris sealed victory. This means that Oscar Piastri's championship advantage is down to 15 points and with Max Verstappen being sent out of the race by Kimi Antontelli, his championship defense looks almost impossible to claw back. Behind him Liam Lawson's flawless one-stop carried Racing Bulls into the constructors fight for sixth while Sauber's upgrades let Gabriel Bortoleto and Nico Hulkenberg harass an ailing George Russell and his Mercedes. Ferrari stayed steady with a top-four double finish and shut Red Bull out on home ground. Fernando Alonso's crafty one-stop proved age is only a number as Lance Stroll and Alpine faded, Williams burned through another reliability horror and Yuki Tsunoda's tough weekend summed up Red Bull's worst home race in years, if not ever.

F1 journalists Jesús Balseiro and Julianne Cerasoli join Tom Clarkson in the Barcelona paddock to dissect a dramatic Spanish Grand Prix, where Oscar Piastri secured his fifth win of the season and Max Verstappen received a 10-second penalty for causing a collision with George Russell. Piastri is now 10 points clear of McLaren teammate Lando Norris at the top of the World Championship standings. Where did Oscar have the edge over Lando at the Circuit de Catalunya? How crucial was the start to the outcome of this race? And what does Lando need to do next to swing the momentum of this title race back in his favour? Tom, Jesús and Julianne share their thoughts on the late incident between Verstappen and Russell, which saw the Dutchman demoted from P5 to P10. Why did the collision happen? And what does this result mean for Max's hopes of a record-equalling fifth title in a row? Sauber Team Principal Jonathan Wheatley joins the pod to reflect on Nico Hulkenberg's incredible drive from P15 to P5, which secured the team's best result since Imola 2022 and lifted them off the bottom of the Constructor Standings. Also on the agenda: a mixed weekend for Ferrari, Fernando Alonso's first points of the season, Lance Stroll's withdrawal from the Grand Prix, and important points for both Racing Bulls and Alpine.
