It's the summer break, but not for the hard-working minions at FF1S. We look back over the past month, talking mostly about Not Races. We critique Audi and Alpine with unrestrained savagery, wonder how the hell Sergio Perez still has a job, delight in the stroppy radio messages from the Hungarian Grand Prix and reflect on the times they've been fired from our jobs. Only one of Thierry Boutsen's three F1 wins came in dry conditions, but it was a famous victory, as he held off the field for the entire 1990 Hungarian Grand Prix, going as slowly as he could out front to make his tyres last the distance without requiring a pitstop. Edd Straw and Andrew van de Burgt join Glenn Freeman to look back on Boutsen's masterclass, and the chaos that went on behind him, including two collisions that involved McLaren drivers punting people off at the Hungaroring's tricky chicane. Plus, we dissect Ayrton Senna's race, as he came back from a puncture to miss out on victory to his good friend by 0.2 seconds. As always we work our way through the other big topics in F1 at the time, including Nigel Mansell's supposed retirement, Williams trying to sign Senna, Benetton laying the foundations for its mid-1990s title success, the decline of Lotus, and Eddie Jordan getting very upset with the politics of F1 before his team had even joined the grid. The Track Talk Triple-Header is complete! This weekend we watched the conclusion of Formula E season 10, the Hungarian Grand Prix, and Indycar in the streets of Toronto. Of course. Emma tells all about the latter as she was boots on the ground in Toronto chatting with drivers. fans and team members. The Indycar summer break may now be in full swing but that doesn't mean we won't discuss silly season, specifically, whether Theo Pourchaire will remain on the Indycar grid in 2025. Speaking of silly season, Carlos still hasn't decided where he'll be racing, but Haas may no longer be an option... Congratulations to Colton Herta for his win in Toronto, Pascal Wehrlein for his first FE World Championship & McLaren F1 for the most controversial 1-2 in Formula 1 history (probably). Whether you thought Lando or Oscar deserved the win, we'll discuss it all. Follow us on instagram @tracktalk.pod

On this episode, host Edd Straw and former F1 technical director Gary Anderson turn the spotlight on Red Bull, after the world champion team introduced new upgrades at the Hungarian Grand Prix. Gary gives his thoughts on Red Bull's 'mix and match' approach to bodywork at each circuit, and discusses whether these updates will help Red Bull stem the tide against McLaren, who are seemingly going from strength to strength. Ahead of that, Gary gives his view on the McLaren team orders situation at the Hungaroring, drawing parallels to his own experience of dealing with similar scenarios from the pit wall. And to round off the episode, Gary answers four more questions from listeners, on steering wheel tyre modes, aerodynamic testing restrictions, what Gary would change about the 2026 regulations, and whether there are any historical precedents for a team swapping between such visually distinctive bodywork arrangements in the same season, as Red Bull have. It was a 1-2 for McLaren at the Hungarian Grand Prix, however with a mixture of controversy for the team, as well as a lot of frustration and anger up and down the grid, the Hungarian GP threw out a surprising amount of issues to discuss! Joining Steph Wentworth on the Autosport Podcast are Jake Boxall-Legge and Stuart Codling and togethert they break down why McLaren made the strategic call to put Lando Norris in first and then force the British driver to swap positions so Oscar Piastri could claim his first Grand Prix victory. There's also discussion on Max Verstappen's anger boiling over with complaints over the Dutchman's new upgrade package on the car, the strategy that left him undercut by Lewis Hamilton, and then a colliision with the British driver at the end of the race. Also, more analysis on Ferrari's continued upgrade struggles and the anger of Fernando Alonso in the Aston Martin garage. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

In the Budapest paddock, Tom Clarkson is joined by ESPN journalist Albert Fabrega to dissect a dramatic Hungarian Grand Prix. Oscar Piastri is the first Formula 1 Grand Prix winner born in this millennium and the fifth Australian to stand on top of the podium. How did he achieve his first race victory and what does this win mean for his future? McLaren secured their first 1-2 since Monza 2021 – but should Lando Norris have been asked to give up victory after undercutting Piastri? Or did the polesitter lose this race at the start? And will those team orders benefit McLaren in the long run? Tom and Albert also discuss who was at fault for the late collision between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen, why Red Bull were off the pace in Budapest and what the future may hold for Sergio Perez after another difficult weekend. 7 winners so far in 2024. Don't miss the chance to see F1 live this season Tickets for races in Texas, Las Vegas, across Europe and around the world are on sale now. Meg and Spanners are back to break down the dramatic Hungarian Grand Prix! First, they must talk about potentially the best radio day in Formula One history with McClaren's feud between Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri (14:37). They discuss the what if's of the race had Norris followed team instructions earlier (14:37), as well as an awkward post-race and cool down room celebrating Piastri's victory (18:10). They talk about Verstappen's childlike arguments on the radio after he was up late sim racing (24:16) and their thoughts on the Red Bull strategy (28:58). They discuss the Verstappen interview that has since been taken down on Red Bulletin, as it was poorly timed after his crash with Hamilton (39:10), and a dismal future for Sergio Perez on Red Bull (45:16). Finally, they talk about the announcement that Magnussen will not be on Haas next year (51:47) and the Williams rumor that they will get rid of Sargeant for Ocon (54:56). Matt is joined by Fratello.com contributor and "Fratello on Air" cohost, Balazs Ferenczi, coming to us live from Hungary (just in time for the Hungarian Grand Prix!). In this episode, we discuss the rather monumental news that Rolex is apparently OUT as a title sponsor of Formula 1, to be replaced by LVMH and their significantly larger financial support commitment. We also pivot to Seiko news. Back during the Covid years, Matt predicted that Seiko would reintroduce the Pogue, and that it would be in a solar quartz format. But is the new Seiko solar Speedtimer *really* worthy of carrying the "Pogue" moniker? Listen to find out...

There's also chat on Mercedes and how they've bridged the gap from fourth best team to back-to-back wins, and how Ferrari have gone backwards in terms of development.
