I fatti.

It really was a continuation of the set from EP026, as I recorded it on the same day, but just hit stop between the recordings to take a little break, then flipped over the last record and started again—which is why it starts with a breaks track, Den Haas on Synkronized 003, then Admo on 39 records before settling into the dub vibes with Dan Goul on MixCult. It has tracks from Adria Duch, Modernism, the Thibideau brothers Mark & Matt, Alessandro Crimi and more. Full t/l: https://undergroundvinylsource.com/blogs/news/uvs-podcast-ep027

Aalhad Joshi aka Marbman makes a case for taking dance music to the energy of its early roots when the genre wasn’t replete with as much explicit seriousness, but he does so with modern selections on his Wild City mix. Holding onto a penchant of fun-filled vocal refrains – as he does on his productions, the most recent of which ‘Class’ released on the Portuguese label No, She Doesn’t – the Mumbai-based producer ties together works of the likes of Four Tet, Cignol, Ilana Byrne, L Major and Admo, dipping in and out of a house-based selection to stay rhythmically dynamic. A third way in, Joshi drops the vocal refrains in favour of more atmospheric numbers, immersing the listener in distant textures while the pulsating drums keep intimate company before returning into the mix’s formative mood with DJ Gigolo and Kev Koko’s trance/electro number ‘Papi’ – all the while maintaining a leisurely mood without relenting the tempo or intensity. 2 Samuel 2:1-2 - It happened after this that David inquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up to any of the cities of Judah? And the LORD said to him, Go up. David said, Where shall I go up? And He said, To Hebron. 2 So David went up there… TRANSCRIPT: And now, Admonition, brought to you by the Collierville Church of Christ. In 2 Samuel 2, David inquires of Lord as to whether or not he should go up to Judah after Saul's death, and the Lord tells him to go.But that's not enough for David. David has been told to go, but David wants more clarity on where to go. So, he inquires of Lord, to what city should I go? And the Lord says to Hebron. Sometimes we need to look a little deeper, and sometimes we need to get clarification. When God has given us a command and we're not completely sure how to fulfill it, let's dig a little deeper and learn what God would have us to do exactly as he said. For more from the Collierville, Church of Christ, visit Colliervillecoc.org

Ask anyone about Adams Morgan. We guarantee that 50% of the time you’ll get responses about the nightlife. The music, raunchiness, and drunken charades of power-hour enthused twenty something year olds. When asked about the food scene – newcomers and college students alike will rave about the grease-streaked slices of jumbo slice. But, Adams Morgan is more. It’s vibrant, dynamic, and ever-changing. It’s a cocktail rich in neighborly love. Representing DC’s past, present, and future, while reflecting the exploding diversity across the region. How did we get here? Well, we’ll find out through this exclusive #TasteofAdMo miniseries. I will say though, within these handful of blocks there are eclectic individuals, beloved community institutions, and incredible restaurants with dishes that shattered DC’s segregated restaurant scene and defied the notion that Washington was ever a “culinary backwater.” On today’s episode, we’ll learn about one restaurant at the forefront of DC’s pupusa fever. A representation of the city’s Latino diaspora, El Tamarindo has been a cornerstone of the AdMo community for over 35 years. Family owned, this super funky restaurante not only has incredible food, but a story that shows us what it means to achieve your own American Dream. So, “Wepa!” Without further ado, let’s listen to my conversation about familia, cultura, and comida with El Tamarindo’s owner, Ana Reyes. Like the music on today's podcast? This week your hosts Chase and Zazi are joined by DC local favorite Jack Gregori, frontman of Human Country Jukebox and former contestant on The Voice. We'll be talking about the borough of Adams Morgan, or AdMo as the kids are calling it these days, and you'll learn a little lore about the famous venue, Madams Organ.
