The U.S. military teaches recruits to function together as a well-oiled machine—and for young people who dream of joining the most elite forces, it requires discipline, commitment, and loyalty, not to mention the courage to put yourself in harm's way for the greater good. For the ones with the deepest commitment, there has to be a fire in the belly that drives them to keep their eye on the prize, no matter what the risks. Most of the time this sets the stage for great achievements. But sometimes, the personality type that lends itself to flawless dedication can teeter over the line into feverish obsession. Where's the line? When you've cultivated a “failure is not an option” attitude your entire life, how do you put the brakes on when that determination starts to bleed into your personal relationships? Join us for the story of one of the most infamous killer couples of the 1990s: Diane Zamora and David Graham. Until one day 16 year old Adrianne Jones goes missing from her home and is later found dead in a field near her home. On the morning of Monday, December 4, 1995 Gary Foster was driving down his driveway to drop off some letters in the mailbox when he noticed that a part of his fence was down. He stopped his car, and got out to go fix it, but as he approached he noticed a body lying in the tall grass. As he approached he realized that the victim was dead. He stopped moving. Recently this land had become a popular location for drug deals and other nefarious activities, so he decided to leave everything as it was, and go call the police. At the same time Linda Jones realized that her 16 year old daughter, Adrianne, wasn't at home in her bed. In fact, it looked as though Adrianne's bed hadn't been slept in at all. Linda briefly considered the possibility that Adrianne had gone on an early morning run, but then she noticed her running shoes lying on the ground. Linda called Adrianne's school and her workplace. No one had seen her at either location so Linda immediately called the police to file a missing persons report. In the fall of 1995, Adrianne Jones snuck out of her house in the early hours to meet up with David Graham, a fellow classmate. What Adrianne didn’t know was that David’s fiancé, Diane Zamora, was hiding in the backseat of his hatchback ready to kill her, and they did. It wasn’t long before guilt was eating away at Diane, and not having David by her side was not helping. This week we are discussing the case of David Graham and Diane Zamora. These two brutally murdered 16-year old Adrianne Jones. What made such promising young adults, do the most horrific act and carry on with their lives as if nothing had happened. This week's wine comes from our friends at 10 Mile Productions. We are sipping on a white wine today, Blanc Du Bois which is a hybrid grape made from American and European varieties. It was made at the University of Florida in 1968 by John Mortensen. This variety is ready to combat Texas challenges, like high heat, humidity and even pierces disease. This varietal is un-fined/un-filtered with a nice effervescent touch. You will taste notes of grapefruit, lemon, guava and maybe even green apple. Go visit our friends at 10 Mile Productions in Brownwood, TX. The organization for this week is Dare to Dream. Over the years, Dare to Dream has recruited and trained hundreds of volunteers to educate, inspire, and mentor wounded youth in group homes, shelters, orphanages, and detention centers. Our programs are designed to help meet the emotional and spiritual needs of at-risk youth to overcome drug and alcohol abuse, juvenile delinquency, and teen pregnancy, all of which causes child abuse, school drop-outs, and teen suicide.WHO WE SERVEYouth between the ages of ten and eighteen, living in shelters, foster homes, group homes, detention centers and orphanages. The night of December 3, 1995, would be best described as one that transcended emotional barriers for so many. Texas teen, Adrianne Jones, had retired to her bedroom that night. She was playfully talking with her then boyfriend, Tracy Smith, when she heard the loud beep of the other line. She quickly glanced at her phone to see who the incoming call was from. Her phone displayed “a friend”. She quickly clicked the line over. At that precise moment, her mother, Linda Jones walked by. Linda noticed her daughter’s entire demeanor change as she spoke to whomever was on the phone. At the time, she didn’t think much of it, chalking it up to a teenager being a teenager. But, it would be a key moment in time that would be remembered forever. One that ultimately would shatter many lives in less than 24 hours.

In December 1995, Adrianne Jones, a 16-year old high school student, was found brutally murdered in the town of Grand Prairie, Texas. The investigation was extensive and included many more witnesses than is typically necessary for older victims. Four suspects quickly rose to the top of the list, but one by one, detectives were able to take each suspect off the list, until the case went cold. Then, one day in August 1996, detectives got a strange call from the Naval Academy that one of their freshmen cadets, Diane Zamora, had told her friends that her boyfriend, David Graham, a freshman at the Air Force Academy, had killed for her. Investigators were shocked but they had to look into it. The investigators may have gotten more than they bargained for with the killers’ written confessions, that read more like dramatic prose. Dig in with Margot as she discusses the crazy 9-month long investigation, the killer confessions, and the facts of the case that resulted in a made-for-TV-movie. -----Read about Military Murder Podcast as featured in Task & Purpose: https://taskandpurpose.com/military-murder-podcast-margot-crime Visit our partners: -Huntakiller – Save 20% by using code “Margot” at checkout.-Buzzsprout – Get a $20 Amazon Giftcard when you sign up for a paid podcast hosting plan. Diane Zamora and David Graham were overachieving high school students in love, sharing common dreams of flying high in the Air Force as a married couple. But a dark secret emerged as they were their first year of college. Diane was a midshipman at the U.S. Naval Academy and David was a cadet at the U.S. Air Force Academy when investigators linked them to the murder of another teen, Adrianne Jones, who had been found dead on a rural Texas road a year earlier. Nancy Grace revisits the infamous Texas cadet murder case with lawyer and psychologist Dr. Brian Russell, host of Investigation Discovery's "Fatal Vows" series, death scene investigator Joseph Scott Morgan, and reporter John Lemley.
*In 1995, a young and intelligent couple set out to kill a local girl who was “getting in the way” of their relationship. But after one of them told the story to a roommate the following year, everything came crashing down. This is the murder of Adrianne Jones and the story of the Texas Cadet Murder.* *BONUS EPISODES* patreon.com/goingwestpodcast *CASE SOURCES* https://offender.tdcj.texas.gov/OffenderSearch/offenderDetail.action?sid=05706168 https://caselaw.findlaw.com/tx-court-of-appeals/1007875.html https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/7667911/adrianne-jessica-jones https://www.texasmonthly.com/articles/the-killer-cadets/ Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brands Privacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
