It's been a long time since we visited the biological principles of strength development. If you are a new coach, a student, or a curious athlete, this episode is vital to understanding some of the more complex concepts of human performance, like rate of force development, compensatory accelleration, hypertrophy, post activation potentiation, and so much more. A huge thank you to our guest, Antonio Squillan for making these digestable even for the Power Athlete meathead. Exploring the science behind strength and power development is what Antonio Squillan does best. Somehow he was able to make time for John and Tex while getting his PhD at USC. The only thing more impressive than Antonio's coaching background is his expertise in human performance. Our guest on this episode is a barber extraordinaire who is innovative and talented, yet humle and grounded. Joining us from his barbershop, The Coil, in Chicago, Antionio is here to share his journey to salon ownership - and what lead him to become the successful barber he is today. You might know him as @barbergawd on Insagram, or as one of the 2021 Faces of Sola, but we know him as one of the most genuine and inspirational people we've crossed paths with. In this episode, Antonio opens up about his experience moving to the south side of Chicago at 14 years old and how there was a lack of positive mentorship. But despite the challenges he faced, Antonio used his experiences to fuel his passions and purpose. Through his work behind the chair and a drive to make a difference in the lives of others in the next generation, Antonio has created a community of empowered people who not only look good, but feel good. Press play on this episode to get the inspiration and motivation you didn't know you needed. [11:20] - Because he sees 14 to 18 people a day, Antonio delegates tasks to others in his network to help build his product line and app. [13:17] - Antonio felt the need to branch into his own business with Sola so he could do things his own way and keep growing. [14:50] - His dreams are to provide stability for his children and give them the opportunities to do the things they want to do. [16:40] - Those in the Sola community are passionate about making time to inspire future individuals in the industry. Another disappointing season, more questions about Quarterback moving forward. Brent and Dre mention the benchmarks for Terry and Antionio, then talk about player contracts. Brent is adamant that Terry's new contract needs to be the number one concern of the off-season and should be addressed immediately. They talk about some scenarios for the answer at QB in the off-season and potential draft picks. Now that the season is officially over, it's time to begin looking at potential rookies, something they've been all too used to in January since Brent and Dre have been fans.

We've given a lot of praise to Lorenzo Romar on this show, and it's worth noting that five of the top seven scorers on thsi team were recruited by him, but the team has without a doubt improved on defense since Mike Hopkins has taken over. As the men's basketball program continues its upward projection, and the football team came off a season that saw them in the Rose Bowl for the first time in 18 years, it's clear we're living in the Golden Age of UW Athletics, and Jen Cohen deserves credit. Would Antonio Brown be a good pickup for the Hawks, or is the baggage that would come along not worth it? The honest answer is that we're probably better off not taking him. Mike Hopkins discusses last week's two games, his thoughts on the defense, Noah's status for Thursday, and more.
