The underlying nuimbers suggest the Boston Bruins deserved better on Monday night in a 5-1 loss to the St. Louis Blues, but a sluggish start did them in. That kind of effort won't cut it once the games really start to matter, but maybe the Bruins are lowkey trying to pass the Presidents' Trophy curse to the Florida Panthers. It's time for the weekly Cup check, where we look at the top 5 teams around the NHL and where the Brujins rank among them.Plus, Locked on Bruins host Ian McLaren offers the ideal playoff lineup for the Bruins.Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!eBay MotorsFor parts that fit, head to eBay Motors and look for the green check. Locked On Golden Knights - Daily Podcast On the Vegas Golden Knights
The Golden Knights traded for power forward Ivan Barbashev Sunday in exchange for former #1 draft pick Zach Dean. Barbashev reunites with Alex Pietragelo from the Blues Cup championship team. He had a career best 60 points last season and had 29 points for a team that dismantled all of its expiring contracts. VGK has a $2.25 million cap hit with Barbashev. He is versatile, can play on the wing (left handed shot) or at center. He is solid on the PK and is a banger. He has 132 hits including eight hits vs Pittsburgh Saturday. VGK has given up five of its last six first round picks. GM Kelly McCrimmon said that Barbashev is different than any piece they have currently on the team. He has a different skillset. He gets inside and at the net. Also of note, VGK fanned on free agent Timo Meier as he went to New Jersey on Sunday, in what was probably a leverage play against Vegas, increasing value for the rival Sharks. We recap the VGK-Dallas game in what became a battle of the goalies, as the Golden Knights fell in the shootout. The game will be remembered for the spectacular backhanded save by an acrobatic Laurent Brossoit. VGK skates in Denver tonight against the Colorado Avalanche, a team that is getting healthy and is 6-2-2 in its last 10. Thekey will be to stop the Avs from scoring early in the contest.FANDUEL DISCLAIMER: 21+ in select states. First online real money wager only. 14th Jun 2019. This week Dan and Will discuss 8 year contracts and why Will thinks they are bad. Smooth recap. Winning the cup/getting relegated. Starters/Scratches (incl Life, Dans wife and Pam Beasley). Then onto the show. The Stanley cup is over and the St Louis Blues are the Stanley Cup champions. The best team won and Dan has a rant about a couple of things. Players playing injured and David Krejci. Will tries to defend Krejci. We were wrong about Craig Berube. Dan was right about Ryan O Reilly. Will has a fiery hot take about Jordan Binnington. The Blues win has screwed all the fans whose teams have bad GMs. Is old time hockey back. The Carolina Hurricanes are set up for the future for years if they play their cards right because the Checkers are the Calder cup champs and they have loads of cap room and loads of picks. The results of Man v Man. Will somehow doesn't understand how closest wins competitions work. Brock Nelsons contract, Jeff Skinners contract and what does that mean for all the UFAs and RFAs. Chernobyl discussion (1:29:20-1:39:13) and all the other guff. Rate and Review on iTunes please.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/2-brits-1-puck/donations
