Jason Gregor and Frank Seravalli are back with a fresh episode of The DFO Rundown as they took a look back at everything that went down over the weekend in the NHL.The big story is the end of the Oilers vs Canucks game on Saturday night as both Connor McDavid and Tyler Myers were ejected for cross-checks to the head of an opponent. Both now have hearings with the NHL DOPS, but should they be suspended the same number of games? The guys debated that and had a bigger picture conversation about the state of officiating in the league. They then got into the John Klingberg signing. Gregor gave some insight into where he could slot into the lineup and they talked about whether or not Klingberg can find his game with the Oilers. They then got into what's been going down over in the Eastern Conference. The Devils and Bruins are both slipping with the New York Rangers starting to find their game. They talked about the recent hot streak for New York and dug into some of their concerns with what's happening in New Jersey. That led to some conversation about the Simon Nemec comments. He didn't ask for a trade, but he wants to play in the NHL and the Devils have a loaded right-side of their blueline. Could something give there? Frank gave his thoughts. They also talked about Kappo Kakko's hot start to his Kraken career. The guys had a contentious debate a few weeks ago when the trade first went down so they revisited their conversation and their thoughts on the deal.Tyler then popped in for a new edition of Fill in the Blank where he asked the guys about best fits for JT Miller, the playoff chances for the Montreal Canadiens, and whether or not Jeff Skinner will finish out the year in Edmonton. They wrapped with some talk about potential injury replacements for the 4 Nations Faceoff with guys like Jason Robertson and Zach Hyman both shooting the lights out.1:10 - McDavid & Myers face hearings14:40 - John Klingberg signs in Edmonton17:55 - Eastern playoff picture20:50 - Concern in New Jersey?32:30 - Kakko & The Kraken35:40 - Fill in the Blank (JT Miller, Habs playoff chances, Skinner in Edmonton)47:00 - 4 Nations Injury ReplacementsWant to hear more from Frank, Jason and the entire DFO team? On this latest episode of the BS, I'm talking the Kakko trade, the Carrier trade, the shit show going on with the Rangers, the shit show going on with the Sabres, the shit show going on with the Predators, Dom being a coward, how ridiculous the Avs play by play team are, the Canadian World Junior team, the lines I'd run for Canada at the 4 Nations, and of course the Oilers (mainly talking about both Skinner's again).
The Kakko era is officially over in New York as the Rangers have traded their former prospect to the Seattle Kraken in a not surprising deal. Alex Carrier finds himself on the move as Nashville looks to shake things up, sending him to Montreal in a one-for-one swap. Jamie Benn continues to make history for the Dallas Stars after setting another franchise milestone. The Yankees seem to be back engaged with Pete Alonso. Gio said it would bother him if he went to the Yankees, but it wouldn't bother Boomer. I wonder if Brian Cashman would do a Cameo video for Brandon Tierney loving ‘Plan B'. We also talked about the Athletic article about Woody Johnson and the Jets that is not flattering. We talked about some of the bad GMs the Jets had and then other bad GMs and coaches/managers in NY over the years. Jerry returns for an update and starts with Ryan Clark vs Aaron Rodgers. At one point he called Rodgers, ‘slimy'. Michael Penix talked about being in line for a hotdog at Costco when he got the call he would be starting. Max Fried met the media and talked about Yankees players that have already reached out. Marc Malusis had a water pipe break in his house. Doug Gottlieb talked about his back and forth with Adam Schefter that didn't make his bosses happy. One woman on social media is furious with the Rangers trading Kaapo Kakko to the Kraken. In the final segment of the hour, Eddie is going to be out a lot for the holidays and then to observe the wolves in Yellowstone.

It was a wild evening in the NHL as three trades went down in the matter of a few hours. Frank and Jason broke it all down today on a new episode of The DFO Rundown. They started with the deal that saw Alexandre Carrier go from the Nashville Predators to the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for Justin Barron. The guys talked about why the rebuilding Canadiens wanted to get an older, more expensive defenseman and whether or not Barron is a project worth taking on for the Preds. They then got to the Kappo Kakko trade as the Rangers moved the former second overall pick to the Seattle Kraken in exchange for a package that includes defenseman Will Borgen. Gregor likes the move for Seattle and thinks that Kakko still has some upside. Frank thinks the upside is limited and thinks the Rangers did well in this deal. They quickly touched on the small trade that the Pittsburgh Penguins made and then they talked a bit about the run that the Utah Hockey Club has been on. Are they capable of being a playoff team this year?Tyler then popped in for another edition of Buy or Sell where he asked the guys about the teams that are currently leading their division, the Penguins run and whether or not we'll see another trade before tonight's roster freeze. To wrap up the pod, they talked a little about Christmas plans, their youth hockey coaching experiences and they quickly touched on the Vancouver Canucks and their potential plans ahead of the roster freeze.1:20 - Preds move Carrier to Montreal11:55 - Kraken add Kakko22:30 - Joseph goes back to Pittsburgh25:05 - Utah's on a run31:30 - Buy or Sell52:15 - Current state of the CanucksShoutout to our friends at Fountain Tire: https://www.fountaintire.com/promotions/?utm_source=tnn&utm_medium=podcast&utm_campaign=fountainConnect with us on ⬇️TwitterInstagramWebsiteDaily Faceoff Merch Hosted on Acast.
