Jackie Chan says “Ding Ding” on set to remind his crew: stay sharp, keep moving, no dead time. I've been thinking… maybe life needs more of that energy too. Less waiting, more intention. Urgency, not the panic kind, but the alive kind. The kind that reminds you you're here to do something. Ding ding, let's go.

A claims adjuster is out at a party when they are asked: “So, what do you do for a living?” Our adjuster responds with just: “I'm in insurance claims.” That's an “Oh no” moment. Turns out their cousin had a terrible experience on a claim and our adjuster is going to hear all about it, ending in: “You claims people are all cheaters!” Notable Timestamps [ 00:36 ] - Today's scenario begins as an interpersonal encounter about explaining your career in insurance, but the elevator pitch is applicable even on claims. [ 02:05 ] - What our claims professional needed was an elevator pitch: a succinct, prepared, organized response. Whether at a party or at a claims site, our adjuster wants to know how to summarize their thoughts in a persuasive way. Ding Ding! Your elevator's here! Are you ready? [ 02:30 ] - Mike was asked: "what's your elevator pitch?" That was an "oh no" moment... [ 03:35 ] - An elevator pitch is a simple presentation that you give in the time it would take to ride an elevator: around 30 seconds. [ 04:18 ] - 1. Grab 'em at the beginning. Get their attention with a great opening. [ 04:25 ] - 2. Tell 'em what you're gonna tell 'em. Be organized in your thought process. [ 04:32 ] - 3. Hit 'em with your bid conclusion/sell/ask. Be brief and practiced. [ 05:11 ] - Alissha: "So, what do you do for a living?" Mike: 1. "I allow you to take the risks to make life worth living." 2. "Without insurance, you wouldn't be able to insure your home or car." 3. "We step in when bad things happen and we hope to get people back on their feet." [ 09:15 ] - Be prepared, be organized, be succinct. [ 10:00 ] - Let's say an insured has suffered a casualty loss. How can an elevator pitch help? 1. "I'm so sorry that this happened." Take a moment to express sincere empathy. 2. Review the medical records / facts. 3. "I know that this has impacted your life, so how about we take care of your damages?" [ 11:50 ] - What's the pitch for a hurricane loss? Again, start off with an emotional connection. Second, spell out the steps to get them back into the place they were before the accident. Third, conclude with the ask and what you need for the next steps. [ 13:35 ] - Mike applies the elevator pitch to auto claims handling. [ 15:42 ] - Mike provides a recap of the scenario and the points above. Merci beaucoup

WRP 181 - 6 Nations - Ding, ding....round 1! The third pod of the week looking in depth at the teams selections for all three 6 Nations games. There's fascinating insight into the England camp where Berner spent some time with this week; what are the differences to this camp under John Mitchell to previous years? What is England's approach to selection through this 6 Nations, why has this XV been chosen to open up The Red Roses campaign, what will be new?! Wales and Scotland always have great battles, Berner talks about where the game will be won and loss, the importance of the kicking game and set piece. And the increased strength in depth both these Celtic nations appear to have increasingly. Ireland are over in France for a tough start to their campaign, off the back of a victorious wXV3 and with their 7s players being available they are confident. Berner's knowledge of Scott Bemand, from when he was the England coach, he is now the Ireland head man, comes into play about the approach of the Irish side and what might be different about them. The Red Rose star also talks about the physicality of the French side that love playing in front of their home crowd. Spring is officially here, and The Garcia Twins are ready for new beginnings after a long winter of hibernating and recharging. Nikki & Brie are ready to bloom! Nikki's ahead of the curve when it comes to Spring Cleaning, a process she's been ready for since she started dating Artem. This is also a great time to learn about the Three R's when it comes to sustainability, or maybe the Four R's now. Brie's also dealing with some incredibly growing kids, and it's tough to keep up with them. Brie also had a unique approach to Birdie and Buddy's attempt to catch a Leprechaun on St. Patrick's Day. Lately Nikki & Brie's power walks have motivated Nikki to revisit some unfulfilled dreams, reassessing priorities and Brie is all about Spring Cleaning her mind and exploring some new business opportunities. Nikki also has a BIG update about Artem's family, and it's pretty thrilling for everyone, and that energy has her brain working overtime with ideas. Let's find out!★ Turns out Billy's bonkers improv style made for one too many mistle-wrong moments as the villainous Frank Cross★ While they jingled the ghosts' bells at first, each creepy Christmas spirit started to lose their magic★ This snowball got rolling as a madcap comedy but slowly melted into a confusing lump of drama and darkness★ Not a ha-ha-ho-ho in sight as our hosts question Donner's directing decisions! Bah humbug!★ On the mouse antler scale, watch out, rodents cause Krissy and Nathan give it an average 6 out of 10A few other notes...
Carrie needs cash, so Charlotte puts a ring on it. It's “Sex and the City” S4 Ep16! And as I hopped on the bus with Guy Branum (“Bros”) and Nigel Campbell (“Saints & Sinners”), I couldn't help but wonder: Can I borrow 30K real quick? Got a burning question about a relationship or friendship problem (or really anything Sex and the City adjacent)? Just record a voice memo on your phone and email it to AndJustLikeMatt@gmail.com and Matt will answer your question on the show with his very fancy guests.

Being an immigrant like myself, Self Love has been a concept which is super abstract and somewhat unrealistic. I came from a culture that honored hard work and 10,000 hours of commitment. In comparison to success, self love felt like a sleeping pill that yields no real profit. To my surprise, over the past few years, I've actually learned a few things about self love that has changed my life. On today's episode, I'd love to share my own path towards Self Love, as well as where did I find the true love for myself. Sending you a big virtual hug, and let's unwrap this gift! Make sure to check out the shownotes of this episode, and I'd love to connect with you on instagram if that's your cup of tea! A Way with Words — language, linguistics, and callers from all over
In 1803, a shy British pharmacist wrote a pamphlet that made him a reluctant celebrity. The reason? He proposed a revolutionary new system for classifying clouds--with Latin names we still use today, like cumulus, cirrus, and stratus. Also: when reading aloud to children, what's the best way to present a dialect that's different from your own? Finally, recycling our trash demands close attention. Professionals in the recycling business say it's important to be sure that an item is truly recyclable. If you're only guessing when you toss it in the blue bin, then you're engaging in wishcycling -- and that does more harm than good. Plus, T Jones, diegetic vs. non-diegetic, affixes, solastalgia, and since Sooki was a calf. Today, Dan and Maureen talk about the Russian coup—or, no they don't. No one knows what that was about! So they get down to the new Trump tapes. But mostly this is about Maureen's speed dating strategy and Dan saying “Ding!”Ding!
