Tonight, I have a great story to tell you. It reminds me of when I was a kid, I used to go camping with my family out in western Massachusetts – we'd sit around a campfire, and my parents would tell me and my sisters ghost stories. It was unclear how true the stories really were, but they were all terrifying. And this story that I'm going to share with you is from Japan, and it happened over 50 years ago. And over the last 50 years, it's been shared many times, and there are many versions of this story, so it's up to you to figure out how much you believe is really true here. But it's a genuinely frightening story. Also, according to some versions of this story, once you hear it, you only have three days left to live, unless you follow really specific instructions... which I'll give you at the very end. Tonight, I'm going to tell you a very famous story from Thailand. The story was recommended to me by a fan, and I had never heard of it before. And the second I started looking into it, I knew – that I had to tell this one sitting in front of a campfire. As you listen, you might think you can guess what's going to happen next – but I had never heard anything like this before, and I bet you haven't either. If you love flying saucers, maybe you’ve been following the release of a bunch more UFO files. Maybe you're disappointed that E.T. isn't in there, signing a treaty with F.D.R. But it's a very interesting window on the American UFO era, which is now 80 years old! PLUS: A tale from Death Valley, told at our recent Campfire Stories event in Joshua Tree. Got a question? Let us know!Host (Heather): Welcome to Made for Mondays—the podcast where we explore ways to bring Sunday's message into our everyday lives. Who's joining me today?Guests (Tyler, Jamey, and Chelle): Hey everyone!WEEKEND CHITCHATHost: Alright—quick catch-up. What did everyone get into this weekend?Host Transition: Okay, now that we've established we're real people with real lives…BIBLE READING CHALLENGEHost: How's Jesus speaking to you through the Bible Reading Challenge this week?(Judges, Ruth, 1 Samuel, Luke)WHAT THE WHAT????Host: After Easter, we got some great questions sent in—so we're going to start digging into a few of those today, and we'll keep that going in the weeks ahead. We're also gearing up for a summer series called Campfire Stories, where we'll tackle real questions about faith, life, and culture—so this is a bit of a preview.Question 1 – Relationships & TimingWe heard from someone wrestling with timing, trust, and relationships—feeling behind, feeling pressure, and wondering how much is on them versus trusting God.Discussion prompts: How do you balance intentionality in relationships with trusting God's timing? What does healthy discernment look like vs. being overly critical or judgmental? How do you deal with the fear of being “behind” in life? Question 2 – Trinity & Focus on JesusAnother question asked why Christians focus so much on Jesus instead of speaking more broadly about God as a whole.Discussion prompts: How does Jesus reveal the fullness of God rather than compete with it? Why is focusing on Jesus central to Christian faith? Follow-up: How should we understand gendered language for God—what's cultural, and what's theological?SUNDAY DISHHost: Tyler, this week you continued our Turbulence series, looking at John 14–15—where the disciples wanted clarity, direction, and answers… and Jesus offered them something deeper: Himself.Q1 – IcebreakerHave y'all ever been completely lost—like truly had no idea where you were going?Q2 – Personal ConnectionTyler, you shared about your journey—especially this being your last season on staff here. Can you give us a glimpse into that earlier season when you first came here—and how that's shaping how you're navigating what's ahead?Follow-up: Jamey and Chelle, can you relate to that tension of uncertainty and transition?Q3 – Seeing the Father in the SonIn John 14, Jesus says, “Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father.”How would you help someone understand that without oversimplifying the mystery?Follow-up: Why does this matter for someone whose view of a “father” has been shaped by pain?Q4 – Trusting Without the Whole MapWe often want full clarity before we trust. What does it actually look like to obey with partial light?Follow-up: How can we tell the difference between faithful waiting and fear disguised as wisdom?Q5 – Big Idea: Trusting the PilotThe big idea: Peace comes from Stay Connected Website: https://believerschurch.org/ Bible Reading Plan: https://believerschurch.org/bible-reading-plan/Believers Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/believerschurch.va/ Believers Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/believers_church/Subscribe to The Outlet: https://believerschurch.us13.list-manage.com/subscribe?u=66f00f86238de86688d2480e6&id=729c3f381f

Ever walked up to a job and found the pool equipment living inside a freshly finished bedroom? We have—and that's just the start. This story-driven episode shares the funniest, strangest, and most useful moments from decades on the route, each one paired with practical takeaways you can use today. We start with access and liability: a garage converted to a mother-in-law unit, complete with D.E. filter and heater behind a tenant's door. It sparked a frank look at boundaries, ventilation and code concerns, and why a professional sometimes has to walk away. From there we row—literally—into a pool with a center island only reachable by raft, and talk about how design choices create recurring labor costs. We break down builder mistakes that make equipment unserviceable: pipes over pump lids, heaters mounted above baskets, and filters wedged against walls. You'll get a fast bid checklist to catch these issues early, and language you can use to recommend fixes before they become weekly headaches. Then we move to the living, barking variables. Dogs on route can be sweet companions or sprinting escape artists. You'll hear a Doberman sprint, the small-dog chase you never want, and simple rules that prevent escapes and protect your schedule. We also cover pricing when pets use the pool and the quiet grief of losing a familiar yard companion. Finally, we tackle the roadside chaos: a tire punctured by pliers, starters that die mid-route, and the tools that save your day. We share the tap-the-starter trick, why a compact jump pack like a NOCO Boost GB40 belongs in every truck, and how AAA can swap a battery while you keep working.• garage conversion creates unsafe equipment access and liability • island pool requires raft access and sets service limits • inaccessible equipment from poor plumbing and tight pads • practical bid checks to catch design flaws early • pet policies, dog escapes, grief and pricing for pet use • roadside chaos, blowouts and the starter tap trick • jump starter picks, why AAA is worth it Send us a textSupport the Pool Guy Podcast Show Sponsors! In this chapter, Ned pushes further into his troubling pursuit of previewing the afterlife and contacting Courtney, guided by the spirit of Dr. Blackwell herself, who Ned's sister Ellen does not believe has her brother's safety and wellbeing in mind. She and her mother look to have Ned involuntarily committed to a psychiatric facility before he completely sheds his "shell." In this chapter, we trace the evolution of the haunting ‘Humans can lick too' Urban Legend. From early cautionary tales about young women alone at night through to its modern form shaped by fears of home invasion, serial killers, and the thin line between security and vulnerability in our own homes. We examine how this legend blurs folklore and reality, how it has absorbed real crimes and media scares, it's surprisingly long history, and why the simple act of a hand reaching down in the dark continues to haunt listeners long after the story is told.Text Me (this is 3rd party & I cannot respond, but I see all messages)Support the showIf you have more information or a correction on something mentioned in this chapter, email us at luke@lukemordue.com For more information on the show, to find all our social accounts and to ensure you are up to date on all we do, visit www.lukemordue.com/podcast
