You also have to convince other websites to link back to it and talk about it.” - Farzad Rashidi, (9:05) “We are not in the sales industry…the reason being is the way we structure our companies is entirely inbound. We are joined today by humor & leadership experts: Karyn Buxman and Andrea Canny. ProjectME with Tiffany Carter – Entrepreneurship & Millionaire Mindset
Your desire for wanting more isn't greed or selfishness; it's a desire to live your most fulfilling life. Which by the way is your birthright. You don't need to be MORE of anything to be worthy of having the best and getting it. This is wisdom that took me MAAAANY years to finally understand then MAAAAANY more to believe and embody. One of my Divinely Driven missions is to help you honor, own, and live your Most Exceptional life! (That's what the ME stands for in ProjectME by the way.) Do you find yourself dreaming up something BIG, but you get caught in a cycle of self-doubt and then end up taking little to no action? That was me. I would worry about making everyone else in my life happy before myself, as that's what I thought a great friend, partner, coach, employee, and daughter would do. I wanted more, and thought the problem was that I didn't know what steps to take or how to make it happen. That's crap, but I believed my feelings as facts (very dangerous). Once we believe something is possible for us, we all find a way to make it happen. If you're stuck in this dream-paralyzing loop…then it's time for a change. If your desire for more makes other people in your life uncomfortable, that's THEIR problem, not yours Your life will only be as good, as fulfilling, and as abundant as you believe you deserve. If you're trying to make yourself and your desires smaller to make other people feel comfortable, the only person who will pay the price is YOU. Your desires are within you for a reason, don't let a single person (including you) dictate whether or not they are "practical," "reasonable," or "worth investing in.” YOU make that CHOICE:
Tyler sits down with Sylvia Haskvitz, Registered Dietician and Non Violent Communication trainer, to talk about the interplay between Non Violent Communication and nutrition. Sylvia addresses the problem that so many of us have, emotional eating, and then unpacks a solution to this problem. The title to Sylvia's book, Eat by Choice Not by Habit, is something to which we can all aspire, and Sylvia offers some practical tools to help us progress towards this goal. Healthful nutrition asks us to be mindful of what we put into our mouths and healthful communication asks us to be mindful about what comes out of our mouths. This episode shines light on both of these endeavors.

PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED:On this edition of Parallax Views, 2020's began the "Prestige TV" season earlier this year with FX's Mrs. America leading the charge. This show, based on the battles of the feminist Women's Liberation Movement of the 1970s, centers on the anti-feminist arch-conservative Phyllis Schlafly. The show gained a lot of attention upon it's release for being "timely" in regards to the American political moment of polarization and dealing with the fights between the right (Schalfly) and the left (Gloria Steinem, who is also features in the series) that echo today. Eileen Jones, a film critic at Jacobin, however, has a different take on the series that is decidedly more critical. Eileen, J.G., and Casey discuss the real Phyllis Schalfly and her contributions to the American right wing in the 20th century as well as her often covered-up ties to the fringe John Birch Society. Then we begin to discuss the portrayal of Schlafly in Mrs. America as well as the portrayal of Gloria Steinem. Additionally we discuss the contradictions in Schalfly own life. We also talk about Schlafly's involvement with the Barry Goldwater movement and the role she played in promoting the elite Republican or RINO (Republican in Name Only) narrative within conservative circles through her book A Choice Not an Echo. Eileen and J.G. also note that Schlafly was a huge part of integral part of movement conservatism up until her death and, in fact, even after - her last book, The Conservative Case for Trump, was published posthumously after her death. Eileen expresses her issues with the way Mrs. America doesn't tackle the grotesqueness of Schlafly's legacy and the attempts to psychologize Schlafly and the liberal use of fictionalized dramatization. J.G., on the other hand, notes the conservative backlash against the TV series. This leads us into a discussion of the show's repeated "poor Phyllis" trope to explain Schlafly's politics and what Eileen considers the lame symbolism utilized in the series. And, of course we address the conservatism criticism of the show that claims Schlafly's is portrayed as a cynical operator rather than a true believer, anti-communist ideologue and the racist element of Schlafly's career and activism that is often overlooked. All that and much more on this previously unreleased edition of Parallax Views.

Neil, telling us things at CO3Neil McMillan is a postdoctoral researcher in the psychology department at the University of Alberta. Neil completed his undergraduate degree (a BSc(Hons)) in 2007 with Angelo Santi at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, ON and then moved on to graduate school at the University of Western Ontario. He completed his MSc and later his PhD (in 2013) under the supervision of Bill Roberts. We have something in common there as I did a postdoc with Bill Roberts back in the mid 90s.We talked about a few things in this episode, including my bizarre inability to remember Neil's name for like the past 3 years. Of course we talked science too. Neil is interested in spatial memory and so am I. That said, no matter what, timing keeps pulling him back in. He also is first author of a pretty cool review paper that you should check out. We talked about hierarchical representations and cue conflict experiments as well, which I am quite fond of....His recent JEP paper with his two postdoc supervisors was another topic that we got in to, they have found an effect in reversal learning that you should read about. Finally, we also talked about the future of the discipline. Thanks again to Red Arms for the background closing music.
