Send us a Text Message.Ricochet is a country music band that rose to fame in the mid-1990s, becoming known for their distinctive harmonies and energetic performances. Formed in 1993 in Oklahoma, the original lineup consisted of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Heath Wright, lead guitarist Eddie Kilgallon, bass guitarist Greg Cook, drummer Jeff Bryant, and keyboardist Teddy Carr. Ricochet quickly gained attention in the country music scene with their blend of traditional country and rock influences, setting them apart from other acts of the time.Their breakthrough came in 1996 with the release of their self-titled debut album under Columbia Records. The album spawned several hit singles, with the standout track "Daddy's Money" becoming their signature song. "Daddy's Money" reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart and was a commercial success, solidifying Ricochet's place in the country music industry. The song, with its catchy melody and relatable lyrics about a young man's infatuation with a girl whose charm and beauty overshadow her wealthy background, became a fan favorite and remains one of the most memorable tracks of the 1990s country music era.In addition to "Daddy's Money," the band's debut album produced other notable singles such as "What Do I Know" and "Love Is Stronger Than Pride," both of which charted in the Top 10 on the country charts. These songs showcased Ricochet's ability to blend heartfelt lyrics with upbeat, toe-tapping rhythms, earning them a loyal fanbase and critical acclaim. One of the defining features of Ricochet's music is their tight vocal harmonies, which set them apart from many of their contemporaries. This vocal blend became a hallmark of their sound, drawing comparisons to legendary groups like the Eagles. Their ability to harmonize effortlessly was a key factor in their success and contributed to their reputation as a dynamic live act.Ricochet continued to release music throughout the late 1990s and into the early 2000s, with albums like Blink of an Eye and What a Ride. Although they never quite recaptured the commercial success of their debut, they remained a popular touring band, beloved by fans for their high-energy shows and relatable songs.www.BetterHelp.com/TheBarnhttp://www.betterhelp.com/TheBarn http://www.betterhelp.com/TheBarnThis episode is sponsored by www.betterhelp.com/TheBarn and brought to you as always by The Barn Media Group. Without you I'm nothing”. It seems like every year, when the four teams are announced that will faceoff for the biggest prize in college football, there is always one or team teams that feel left out. This is was no execption as undefeated Florida State and defending National Champion Georgia appeared to be all dressed up with no where to go. This year the four teams Michigan, Washington, Texas and Alabama are ready to battle it out for all of the marble in the world of college football. In this episode of Historically Speaking Sports we will go back 32 years to highlight the last time the University of Washington was deemed National Champions dispite the fact they had to split the title with the Miami Hurricanes. Also this weekend also saw Southern Methodist University claim their first conference title since 1984. Which was just a couple of years before the NCAA imposed the "Death Penalty" on the Mustangs. To close out the show, we will send a shout out to a little known quarterback that just played five seasons in the NFL because of lingering shoulder injuries. However Hall of Fame Coach Bill Walsh considered him the most naturally gifted passer he had ever seen. We will tell the story of the short and star-crossed career of the NFL's greatest one shot wonder, former Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Greg Cook, the league's greatest "what if".
Get ready for an episode that's been over a decade in the making. This week, we're diving deep into the world of fitness coaching, nutrition, and the mind-body-spirit connection. I've been following our special guest for over 10 years, and his insights are mind-blowing. But before we get into it, let me share a bit of my own journey. I used to have a job in a physical therapy company, working on the fitness component. One day, the owner handed me a book called "Movement," and he said, "If you can understand this book, you'll know as much as I do." Little did I know, this book would lead me to today's guest. Our guest, Greg Cook, is a physical therapist, a strength coach, and the inventor of the Functional Movement Screen. That book, "Movement," was a game-changer, and it laid the foundation for what we're about to uncover. In this episode, we'll explore how your mind plays a crucial role in your physical wellbeing. We'll talk about patterns, adaptation, and how understanding your body can lead to a healthier you. Greg's work has impacted people worldwide, transcending language barriers. And now, with an accessible online course, he's simplifying complex concepts for coaches and individuals alike. But here's the kicker: It's not just about the physical. We'll discuss how your body's movements are connected to your overall health, and how making the right changes can transform your life. So, join us for an enlightening conversation with Greg Cook. We'll help you uncover the hidden patterns in your body and set you on the path to a healthier, more vibrant you.
New Zealand and Australian scientists have made a fairly startling discovery - an enzyme that turns air into electricity. After studying bacteria in soil that can oxidise hydrogen, scientists discovered the enzyme that could offer a new clean source of energy, the only by-product of which is water. Otago University's distinguished professor Greg Cook is part of the team studying this enzyme. He spoke to Māni Dunlop.
In this Ash Wednesday episode, we welcome back author and scholar Raymond Ibrahim to discuss the grim realities of being a Christian in certain parts of the world. Homelessness is a major social and healthcare disaster that has been plaguing Canada for decades, and the COVID-19 pandemic has only exacerbated this issue. Are provincial and municipal governments doing enough to combat homelessness in our communities? Or are the solutions that they're coming up with making the problem worse? In Displacement City: Fighting for Health and Homes in a Pandemic, outreach worker Greg Cook and rabble columnist and retired street nurse Cathy Crowe collect stories which shed a light on infrastructure of displacement through prose, poetry, and photography. Contributors to the book include those who have lived experience of homelessness in Toronto. Each chapter reports on different areas of the realities of this crisis and how community members responded. Whether that be by providing disaster-relief supplies and tiny shelters for encampments, by advocating for shelter-hotels where people could physically distance, by taking the city to court, or by rising up against encampment evictions. The book also provides particular insight into policies affecting Indigenous peoples and how the legacy of colonialism and displacement reached a critical point during the pandemic. You can order your own copy of Displacement City: Fighting for Health and Homes in a Pandemic here. You can catch up on Cathy Crowe's column, where she regularly reports on issues surrounding homelessness, housing, advocacy and activism here. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1905, artist Loïs Mailou Jones's career spanned much of the 20th Century as both a painter and a teacher of generations of Black artists at Howard University. Jones faced racial discrimination in the US throughout much of her long life, and found refuge and inspiration in the Harlem Renaissance Movement and in the expatriate community of Black artists in Paris. Her 1953 marriage to Haitian artist Louis Vergniaud Pierre-Noel, and later research trips to Africa further influenced her work. Her many important paintings include The Ascent of Ethiopia (1932); Les Fétiches (1938); Self-Portrait (1940); Mob Victim (Meditation) (1944); Jardin du Luxembourg (1948); Jeune Fille Française (1951); Ode to Kinshasa (1972); Ubi Girl from Tai Region (1972); Suriname (1982); and Glyphs (1985). Joining me to help us learn more about Loïs Mailou Jones is writer Jennifer Higgie, author of the new book, The Mirror and the Palette: Rebellion, Revolution, and Resilience: Five Hundred Years of Women's Self Portraits.
