Maya Kaczorowski noticed that AI identity and AI agent identity concerns were emerging from outside the security industry, rather than from CISOs and security leaders. She concluded that OAuth, the open standard for authentication, already serves the purpose of granting access without exposing passwords. Kaczorowski, a respected technologist and founder of Oblique, a startup focused on self-serve access controls, recently wrote about OAuth and AI agents and shared her insights on this episode of The New Stack Makers. She noted that developers see AI agents as extensions of themselves, granting them limited access to data and capabilities—precisely what OAuth is designed to handle. The challenges with AI agent identity are vast, involving different approaches to authentication, such as those explored by companies like AuthZed. While existing authorization models like RBAC or ABAC may still apply, the real challenge lies in scale. The exponential growth of AI-related entities—from users to LLMs—could mean even small organizations manage hundreds of thousands of agents. Future solutions must accommodate this massive scale efficiently. For the full discussion, check out The New Stack Makers interview with Kaczorowski. Today's show opens with the Pam Bondi confirmation hearing. I decided to bring you mostly how the Democrats conducted themselves on the Hill and how Bondi responded to them. Once again, the Democrats lack any sense of statesmanship or decency. I also bring you a comment form John Ratcliffe's confirmation to be the CIA Director I then dive into some of the news items from the last few days. First, we know the Jack Smith report came out and everyone is focused on one line, but they are missing the real implication. The line is, “...Trump would have been convicted.” That's revealing to me. It tells me that they Deep State had a predetermined outcome to the investigation. The report didn't say they thought they had enough to bring to trial or to get a conviction. It says, we WOULD have been convicted. Other stories we hit include CNN's Scott Jennings eviscerating Leftist John Avlon suggesting people like me are lying about the failures in California, the Biden Administration stole money from Medicare and transferred it to give EV subsidies and now seniors are facing huge increases this year and did an HVAC contractor discover a sleeper cell in Chicago? Speaking of sleeper cells, where was the coverage of a presser given by the Capitol police about two men arrested who were plotting to attack Trump at the Jimmy Carter funeral? Isn't that newsworthy? Joe Biden, the cognitively impaired President in Name Only, wants us to now believe he brought border crossing down when he was elected. He then says if the bipartisan border bill had been passed, they would have thousand of more “secret service agents” on the border. O'Keefe Media Group found another example of a Deep State operative working to thwart the Trump Administration. And, typically, they DoD fired Jamie Mannina and said he wasn't speaking on their behalf and what he said was not true. Sure. Finally, it looks like Trump and his team secured the release of all the hostages held by Hamas. It's a clear indication that the world knows the new sheriff is not going to be messed with and they are taking notice. [SEGMENT 1-1] Words and songs 1 Any words you mispronounced as a child. Pulla was pillow for me. My grandparents called ushers, “urshers”. I'm going to let you folks in on a secret…before every segment, a song pops in my head randomly, and it actually kind of guides my conversation. I consider these inspirations from God. It's so random, and covers all types of music, and it's not necessarily words. The reason why I thought of this, is the song Sing a Song by Earth Wind and Fire popped in my head, and I realized that I didn't know most of the lyrics. I just rhymed my way through much of the song. How many songs do you think you actually know the lyrics to? My wife knows the words to a GAZILLION songs. And boy does she love pointing it out when I'm mis-lyricking a song! [SEGMENT 1-2] Words and songs 2 I looked it up. The most mispronounced words Cache, barometer, GIF, salmon, often, hyperbole, meme, epitome, colonel, mischievous (mischievous), says (says/sez) nuclear, cacophony, synonymous, eLECtoral, preSTIgious I know all the words to Bohemian Rhapsody, but I have no idea what they mean. I know the entire song to rapper's delight Remember when the only way you could get lyrics was to BUY THE ALBUM [SEGMENT 1-3] Course correction 1 Are you watching the trends on various issues Trump ran on during the campaign. To put it mildly, we are winning on all of them. The most glaring to me, and there are many, is that the media has been dying a slow death. That death got accelerated by the Donald Trump devastation of Kamala Harris and the cabal to put her in place to face him. That same cabal put Biden in office in the 2020 coup, and were brazen enough to try it again. It should have been easier, since they technically had a better candidate—a low bar, to say the least. Up to the point of the 2024 election, the media barely hung on. But the precarious nature of their situation was easy to spot. The desperation by them to destroy Trump at all costs. Their efforts backfired in ways they never anticipated. MSNBC is in freefall, and up for sale. Rumors are that Musk might buy it, a prospect that should scare the heck out of Fox News. Consider how fast Twitter gets news, and then picture Musk revamping the entirety of news, given his knowledge of social media. Fox News would be out of business within 5 years. Even more shocking is the rumor that MSNBC forced Rachel Maddow to take a $5M per year pay cut. To understand how badly Democrats must make us believe they are relevant, they are willing to pay a hack like Maddow $30 million per year (now $25m) to pretend that she is relevant. But I doubt you find that shocking when you consider what they paid to try to make Kamala Harris appear relevant. More on that in a bit. Post-election, one can actually witness Democrats in their death throes. Yet, the lapdog media still continue to propagandize when they know their lies no longer work. With every effort they make to fake people out, MAGA chalks up more wins, and exposes the dirty underbelly of Leftism. Take President Trump's 91 indictments and 34 “convictions”, for example. The “felon” strategy was a useful as a bat in a tennis match, yet recently Adam “Russian collusion” Schiff is throwing hissy fits, because he realizes the futility of trying to paint President Trump as a felon. Trump cases are being postponed, but only to limit the damage for when they are eventually tossed. I'm no fortune-teller in predicting that every case against Trump will be dropped. Regardless, if I were Trump, I wouldn't let a single case go on a technicality. I'd make the prosecutors defend their nonsense, as I exposed their dirt and them, one by one. Now that Trump has control of government, he has the receipts to prove the conspiracy against them. And as Trump wins case by case, the Left will die 91 painful deaths. Bragg has NO credibility, nor does Jacks Smith, Fani Willis, or Tish James. They've all been exposed as tools of the cabal. And they've all lost their cases in the court of public opinion currently, so all that's left is to actually lose them in court. Sadly, as I've written they may still choose to target Trump to their own demise. In what I consider another trend to watch, Trump exposed more of the cabal and the Uniparty by sacrificing Matt Gaetz. Unlike Trump's first administration, the Trump team will know upfront who the backstabbers are. Trump will get loyalists in place, and replacing Gaetz will likely be Pam Bondi. She is an excellent choice, and Democrats have already started attacking her. She will hold Leftists responsible. As for their destruction of Gaetz, Democrats created a mortal enemy. A crusader. Because Matt Gaetz isn't gone. He vows to expose the insider trading of the Democrats. And who knows what else he will expose with the help of a genuine DOJ. [SEGMENT 1-4] Course correction 2 [X] SB – Bragg case to get tossed Leftists are claiming that Trump ESCAPED justice, since 34 cases are going to be tossed. Eventually 91 cases will be tossed. I think they will blow a gasket, if we ever learn the truth about Hunter Biden. I believe BOTH sides don't want us to know that a VP and ultimately a President sold America out. But Trump's winning shows up in other trends like the fight against the LGBT movement. Trump made powerful statements about the Fed getting out of the LGBTQ+ business, particularly in the military. But he's also been very outspoken about this issue as it relates to DEI. If you're keeping score, have you seen the number of colleges fighting back on the trans issues, as it relates to women's sport? Almost daily at least one school declares that its all-women team will not compete against teams with transsexual men. Consider all the work the LGBTQ+ put in getting Americans to accept trans people as mainstream. These people have an obvious psychological problem, many of whom are born with gender dysphoria. And of course there are the plain Leftist freaks, Sam Brinton comes to mind, who do their freak shows for attention. And finally, there are children exposed to traumatic situations who don't understand all the nuances of gender and thus grow up to be freaks. However, a person got there, the LGBTQ+ lobby pushed too far, fighting for men to dominate women. So now Republicans have abortion-age women, athletes mostly striking back against Leftism. What a war that has been, as abortion takes a back seat to womanhood. Nancy Mace raised the question on Capitol Hill when a freak Congressman, trans man wanted to use the women's restroom. Surprise Conservatives. We are discussing a social issue, and we are winning. If this keeps up, Leftists will lose abortion as their “go to” for young women. Consider the ramifications of Democrats losing yet another voting bloc on which they've relied so heavily. This subject doesn't trend well for Democrats in the 2026 midterms. But it won't just be young women who defect from Democrats over DEI. How many companies have back away from or rid themselves of the cancer of DEI. Lowe's, Harley Davidson, Caterpillar, and many more have chosen to rid themselves of the “woke” cancer. Those who continue down this dead end will suffer the consequences. Case in point, Jaguar. They learned recently that “woke” is so last decade. The man who implemented “woke” at Jaguar will be gone in less than a year. It's a big mistake when Jaguar tries to become Subaru. Yet another trend that's not looking good for the Democrats, particularly when we consider where Harris left them financially and otherwise. In the wake of the 2024 election thrashing, Democrats are calling for the scalp of Pelosi. Many blame her for the massive 2024 election losses. Despite the problems Pelosi presents, losing her would be a major blow to the Democrats. Hakeem Jeffries is LINO: Leader in Name Only, and not capable of filling Pelosi's shoed. Jeffries is an Affirmative Action figurehead, built by Pelosi. And while Pelosi deserves some blame for the direction of Democrats, so does Jeffries. This duo has Democrats are begging donors to help pay for all the stars Harris enriched during her campaign. And if you don't think Democrats have problems with fundraising, just wait. ActBlue won't be able to funnel nearly as much illegal money to the Democrats now that the election is over. Further, as I wrote recently, don't expect Oprah, Barack, or many other notable Leftists to dig deep to help Harris or the party. They got their money, and they aren't giving it back. Without Jeffries and donors to save them, perhaps Democrats can rely on the old guard: The View. This panel of shrews had the distinction of making the Guiness Book for the number of legal disclaimers in a 24-hour period. Two notices that fast signals a trend: Leftists' legal departments are being put on notice that their lies will no longer be tolerated. And speaking of being put on notice, take a look at what may be the nation's first notable perp walk in Pennsylvania. A Bucks County election official apologized publicly about trying to steal an election. Frankly, I don't care about her apology. America needs to see these cheats go to prison, and this case would be a good one for President Trump to show he means business. Cheat and face the consequences. For me, election integrity must be implemented nationwide over the next 4 years. Because Democrats won't quit cheating unless there are dire consequences. Probably second only to the election integrity is the border. On the border trend, you don't need to read many tweets to see that Trump's new border czar is the real deal, and he's confident in the 70%+ of the nation who want our border protected. Trump has accomplished more in a few weeks as president-elect that Biden Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-kevin-jackson-show--2896352/support.

A new study that reveals how large language models (LLMs) encode truthfulness internally. The research focused on specific response tokens that determine correctness across various models, indicating that LLMs have a structured way of representing truthfulness. This finding could lead to improved reliability in AI outputs, particularly in critical applications like healthcare, where inaccuracies can have serious consequences. The episode also highlights the release of the Open Source AI definition 1.0 by the Open Source Initiative, which aims to clarify what constitutes open-source AI. This new standard requires AI models to disclose detailed information about their design and training data, addressing concerns about transparency in the AI development space. Sobel emphasizes the importance of this definition for IT leaders and developers, as it provides a framework to assess models for true openness, thereby reducing reputational risks and legal liabilities associated with unverified datasets. In addition to these developments, Sobel covers the launch of AI-powered features by TeamViewer, designed to enhance remote support efficiency for IT teams. The new tools, called Session Insights, automatically summarize sessions and provide analytics, which can significantly improve decision-making and handovers. GitHub also announced updates to its coding assistant, GitHub Copilot, which will soon support new large-language models, enhancing developer choice and functionality. Meanwhile, LinkedIn introduced its AI Hiring Assistant to streamline the recruiting process, allowing recruiters to connect with potential candidates more efficiently. Finally, Sobel discusses Cisco's new 360 Partner Program, which aims to modernize infrastructure and enhance the value partners deliver to customers. The program will focus on skill development and solution-based specialization, reflecting a shift in how partners will operate in the evolving tech landscape. The episode concludes with a call for caution regarding the full automation of processes that rely on AI-generated outputs, stressing the need for review and verification policies to mitigate risks associated with AI inaccuracies. Professor Snyder will speak today on the principles of a liberal arts education, drawing in his talk on an article published by Inside Higher Education in October 2023, entitled, A Liberal Arts Education in Name Only. The article is a response to administrative actions being taken across the country that are remaking what it means to use the words higher education, college, university, and what a college education is for. Too much is at stake to permit this trend to continue. We are also pleased to welcome discussant Adrian Lenardic, professor in the Department of Earth, Environment, and Planetary Sciences at Rice University, who has written extensively on neoliberal influences in higher education and is a frequent contributor to Future U. Also offering commentary today are Ruben Martinez, professor and director emeritus, Michigan State University and founder of FutureU; and Nathan Rousseau and Lewis (Terry Dibble), professor and senior lecturer, respectively, at Indiana University Purdue University Columbus. “Christ's power is more than sufficient to enable every believer to live the transformed Christ-filled life and help us deal with every situation in life.” – Pastor Jeff CranstonWe are walking through every book in the Bible, discovering the theological context, themes, and application contained in each book. In this episode, Pastor Jeff and Tiffany cover the letter of Paul to the Colossians and what we can learn about the preeminence of Christ, His sufficiency, and our identity in Him. [00:01 - 11:18] An Introduction to Colossians The letter to the Colossians was written by the Apostle Paul around 62 AD during his imprisonment in Rome, alongside Ephesians and Philemon. The letters were sent to their destinations with Tychicus and Onesimus. An unexcavated site near modern Honas in Turkey, Colossae is mentioned only once in the Bible (Colossians 1:2), and Paul likely never visited it.Paul was informed by Epaphras, believed to be the leader of the Colossian church, about dangerous teachings diminishing Christ's role and undermining believers' identity in Christ. Paul wrote to warn against this false teaching and to encourage Christian growth and maturity.[11:19 - 19:06] Theological Themes of ColossiansThe preeminence and sufficiency of Christ. Paul presents Christ as the center of the universe, the active creator, and the recipient of creation, embodying the fullness of the Godhead.Christ's sufficiency. Christ's power is more than sufficient for any situation believers face.Christ is the source of all spiritual wisdom and understanding.Paul often expresses thanksgiving in his letters, appreciating the faith, hope, and love within the Christian community. Faith, Hope, and Love.Pay special attention to the words faith, love, and hope. We're going to hear the latest on the upcoming vote today, we're going to see who are the remaining bitter holdouts who are refusing to back Jordan, and how patriots are rising up taking back their party once and for all. Highlights: “After the ultra-RINO Kevin McCarthy was ousted as Speaker nearly two weeks ago in a humiliating defeat for the establishment, conservative firebrand Jim Jordan will be voted on to replace him!” “There are still RINO's, Republicans in Name Only, or as I prefer, Diablos, Democrats In All But Label, who are showing their true colors, despite the fact that Jordan was endorsed by the leader of the GOP, President Trump as well as backed by a massive majority within the party.” “Today is the day that we make sure these RINOs learn that this party belongs not to Pelosi, but to patriots, and no one, no uniparty RINO is going to stand in our way!” Timestamps: [00:49] Jim Jordan on the Speaker race [03:53] RINOs continuing to oppose Jim Jordan [06:19] DC is owned by Democrats Resources: See how much your small business can get back from Big Gov (up to $26k per employee!) at https://ercspecialists.com/initial-survey?fpr=turley Want free inside stock tips straight from the SEC? The House of Representatives is gearing up to maybe, possibly, perhaps impeach President Biden. Or so announced our Speaker in Name Only. Anthony sort of saw this one coming and reminds us of that a few too many times with week. He goes allegation by allegation for the uninitiated and finds a tissue paper thin rationale. But that doesn't mean he is opposed to the investigation or at least the one they should be having about influence peddling in Washington. Also, after getting some pushback for his take on migrants from last week, Anthony steps up with a serious idea for a serious problem. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

“In addition, like any other industry, there are people who work in or service the sex industry as managers, film crews, photographers, website developers and webmasters, sales personnel, book and magazine writers and editors, etc. Some create business models, negotiate trade, make press releases, draw up contracts with other owners, buy and sell content, offer technical support, run servers, billing services, or payroll, organize trade shows and various events, do marketing and sales forecasts, provide human resources, or provide tax services and legal support. Usually, those in management or staff do not have direct dealings with sex workers, instead hiring photographers who have direct contact with the sex workers.” In the organized crime world, “snitches”, “rats”, and some drug suppliers get killed, beaten, and robbed. Some criminals have robbed the nunnery and religious figures. The drug suppliers get robbed of their money and their drugs. I was considered a polarizing figure in the crime-ridden streets. The killers were armed, hiding their weaponry while walking, running, and driving. I left religion because of the hierarchy of iniquity, the church having a “do as I say and not as I do” imagery of God, the theatrical and performative religion, the trying too hard to be “cool Christians”, pulpit dishonor, the church protecting it own sins and denouncing the world's sins, the church's perfectionism, preachers not preaching what they truly believe for the continuation of materialistic gain, the church is not permitting the sins of church leaders, the church is Christian in Church buildings Only and Christian in Name Only. silence about organized crime outside of the church and inside of the church, sexually repressed/sexually suppressed/romantically repressed/romantically suppressed church women making sexual passes at me in church buildings and outside of church buildings and romantic passes at me out of depressed desperation. Liz Cheney (R-WY): Why would Americans assume that our Constitution, and our institutions, and our Republic are invulnerable to another attack? Why would we assume that those institutions will not falter next time? A key lesson of this investigation is this: Our institutions only hold when men and women of good faith make them hold, regardless of the political cost. We have no guarantee that these men and women will be in place next time. Any future president inclined to attempt what Donald Trump did in 2020 has now learned not to install people who could stand in the way. And also please consider this: The rulings of our courts are respected and obeyed, because we as citizens pledged to accept and honor them. Most importantly, our President, who has a constitutional obligation to faithfully execute the laws, swears to accept them. What happens when the President disregards the court's rulings is illegitimate. When he disregards the rule of law, that my fellow citizens, breaks our Republic. January 6 Committee Lawyer: To your knowledge, was the president in that private dining room the whole time that the attack on the Capitol was going on? Or did he ever go to, again only to your knowledge, to the Oval Office, to the White House Situation Room, anywhere else? Kayleigh McEnany: The the best of my recollection, he was always in the dining room. January 6 Committee Lawyer: What did they say, Mr. Meadows or the President, at all during that brief encounter that you were in the dining room? What do you recall? Gen. Keith Kellogg: I think they were really watching the TV. January 6 Committee Lawyer: Do you know whether he was watching TV in the dining room when you talked to him on January sixth? Molly Michael: It's my understanding he was watching television. January 6 Committee Lawyer: When you were in the dining room in these discussions, was the violence of capital visible on the screen on the television? Pat Cipollone: Yes. Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL): A federal appeals court in Pennsylvania wrote, quote, "charges require specific allegations and proof. We have neither here." A federal judge in Wisconsin wrote, quote, "the court has allowed the former President the chance to make his case and he has lost on the merits." Another judge in Michigan, called the claims quote, "nothing but speculation and conjecture that votes for President Trump were either destroyed, discarded or switched to votes for Vice President Biden." A federal judge in Michigan sanctioned nine attorneys, including Sidney Powell, for making frivolous allegations in an election fraud case, describing the case as a historic and profound abuse of the judicial process. Recently, a group of distinguished Republican election lawyers, former judges and elected officials issued a report confirming the findings of the courts. In their report entitled "Lost, Not Stolen," these prominent Republicans analyzed each election challenge and concluded this: Donald Trump and his supporters failed to present evidence of fraud or inaccurate results significant enough to invalidate the results of the 2020 Presidential Election. On December 11, Trump's allies lost a lawsuit in the US Supreme Court that he regarded as his last chance of success in the courts. Alyssa Farah: I remember maybe a week after the election was called, I popped into the Oval just to like, give the President the headlines and see how he was doing and he was looking at the TV and he said, "Can you believe I lost to this effing guy?" Cassidy Hutchinson: Mark raised it with me on the 18th and so following that conversation we were in the motorcade ride driving back to the White House, and I said, like, "Does the President really think that he lost?" And he said, "A lot of times he'll tell me that he lost, but he wants to keep fighting it and he thinks that there might be enough to overturn the election, but, you know, he pretty much has acknowledged that he, that he's lost. 07/12/22 Select Committee Hearing July 12, 2022 House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol Witnesses: Jason Van Tatenhove, Former Oath Keepers Spokesperson Stephen Ayres, January 6th Defendant Clips Rep. Stephanie Murphy (D-FL): According to White House visitor logs obtained by the Committee, members of Congress present at the White House on December 21 included Congressmen Brian Babin (TX), Andy Biggs (AZ), Matt Gaetz (FL), Louie Gohmert (TX), Paul Gosar (AZ), Andy Harris (MD), Jody Hice (R-GA), Jim Jordan (OD), and Scott Perry (PA). Then Congresswoman-elect Marjorie Taylor Greene (GA) was also there. Rep. Stephanie Murphy (D-FL): We've asked witnesses what happened during the December 21 meeting and we've learned that part of the discussion centered on the role of the Vice President during the counting of the electoral votes. These members of Congress were discussing what would later be known as the "Eastman Theory," which was being pushed by Attorney John Eastman. 06/28/2022 Select Committee Hearing June 28, 2022 House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol Witnesses: Cassidy Hutchinson, Former Special Assistant to the President and Aide to the Chief of Staff Clips 9:10 Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY): Today's witness, Ms. Cassidy Hutchinson, is another Republican and another former member of President Trump's White House staff. Certain of us in the House of Representatives recall that Ms. Hutchinson once worked for House Republican whip Steve Scalise, but she is also a familiar face on Capitol Hill because she held a prominent role in the White House Legislative Affairs Office, and later was the principal aide to President Trump's Chief of Staff, Mark Meadows. 10:10 Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY): In her role working for the White House Chief of Staff, Miss Hutchinson handled a vast number of sensitive issues. She worked in the West Wing, several steps down the hall from the Oval Office. Miss Hutchinson spoke daily with members of Congress, with high ranking officials in the administration, with senior White House staff, including Mr. Meadows, with White House Counsel lawyers, and with Mr. Tony Ornato, who served as the White House Deputy Chief of Staff. She also worked on a daily basis with members of the Secret Service who were posted in the White House. In short, Miss Hutchinson was in a position to know a great deal about the happenings in the Trump White House. 24:20 Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY): On January 3, the Capitol Police issued a special event assessment. In that document, the Capitol Police noted that the Proud Boys and other groups planned to be in Washington DC on January 6, and indicated that quote, "unlike previous post election protests, the targets of the pro-Trump supporters are not necessarily the counter protesters, as they were previously, but rather, Congress itself is the target on the Sixth. 27:45 Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY): Of course the world now knows that the people who attacked the Capitol on January 6 had many different types of weapons. When a President speaks, the Secret Service typically requires those attending to pass through metal detectors known as magnetometers, or mags for short. Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY): The Select Committee has learned about reports from outside the magnetometers and has obtained police radio transmissions identifying individuals with firearms, including AR-15s near the Ellipse on the morning of January 6. Let's listen. Police Officer #1: Blue jeans and a blue jean jacket and underneath the blue jacket complaintants both saw the top of an AR 15. Police Officer #2: Any white males brown cowboy boots, they had Glock-style pistols in their waistbands. Police Officer #3: 8736 with the message that subject weapon on his right hip. Police Officer #4: Motor one, make sure PPD knows they have an elevated threat in the tree South side of Constitution Avenue. Look for the "Don't tread on me" flag, American flag facemask cowboy boots, weapon on the right side hip. Police Officer #5: I got three men walking down the street in fatigues and carrying AR-15s. Copy at Fourteenth and Independence. Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY): We're going to show now an exchange of texts between you and Deputy Chief of Staff Ornato, and these text messages were exchanged while you were at the Ellipse. In one text, you write, "but the crowd looks good from this vantage point, as long as we get the shot. He was f---ing furious." But could you tell us, first of all, who it is in the text who was furious? Cassidy Hutchinson: The he in that text that I was referring to was the President. Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY): And why was he furious, Miss Hutchinson? Cassidy Hutchinson: He was furious because he wanted the arena that we had on the Ellipse to be maxed out at capacity for all attendees. The advanced team had relayed to him that the mags were free flowing. Everybody who wanted to come in had already come in, but he still was angry about the extra space and wanted more people to come in. Cassidy Hutchinson: And that's what Tony [Ornato] had been trying to relate to him [President Trump] that morning. You know, it's not the issue that we encountered on the campaign. We have enough space. They don't want to come in right now, they have weapons they don't want confiscated by the Secret Service. They're fine on the Mall, they can see you on the Mall and they want to march straight to the Capitol from the Mall. But when we were in the off stage announced tent, I was part of a conversation -- I was in the, I was in the vicinity of a conversation -- where I overheard the President say something to the effect of you know, "I don't think that they have weapons. They're not here to hurt me take the effing mags away. Let my people in, they can march to the Capitol from here. Let the people in, take the effing mags away." Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY): On December 1, 2020, Attorney General Barr said in an interview that the Department of Justice had now not found evidence of widespread election fraud, sufficient to change the outcome of the election. Ms. Hutchinson, how did the President react to hearing that news? Cassidy Hutchinson: I left the office and went down to the dining room, and I noticed that the door was propped open in the valet was inside the dining room changing the tablecloth off of the dining room table. The valet had articulated that the President was extremely angry at the Attorney General's AP interview and had thrown his lunch against the wall. Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY): Miss Hutchinson, Attorney General Barr described to the Committee the President's angry reaction when he finally met with President Trump. Let's listen. Former Attorney General Bill Barr: And I said, "Look, I I know that you're dissatisfied with me and I'm glad to offer my resignation" and then he pounded the table very hard. Everyone sort of jumped and he said "Accepted." Reporter: Leader McCarthy, Do you condemn this violence? Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA): I completely condemn the violence in the Capitol. What we're currently watching unfold is un-American. I'm disappointed, I'm sad. This is not what our country should look like. This is not who we are. This is not the First Amendment. This has to stop and this has to stop now. Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY): Did White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows ever indicate that he was interested in receiving a Presidential Pardon related to January 6? Cassidy Hutchinson: Mr. Meadows did seek that pardon. Yes, ma'am. Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY): While our committee has seen many witnesses, including many Republicans, testify fully and forthrightly, this has not been true of every witness. And we have received evidence of one particular practice that raises significant concern. Our committee commonly asks witnesses connected to Mr. Trump's administration or campaign whether they'd been contacted by any of their former colleagues, or anyone else who attempted to influence or impact their testimony, without identifying any of the individuals involved. Let me show you a couple of samples of answers we received to this question. First, here's how one witness described phone calls from people interested in that witness's testimony. "What they said to me is, as long as I continue to be a team player, they know I'm on the right team, I'm doing the right thing, I'm protecting who I need to protect, you know, I'll continue to stay in good graces in Trump World. And they have reminded me a couple of times that Trump does read transcripts and just keep that in mind as I proceed through my interviews with the committee." Here's another sample in a different context. This is a call received by one of our witnesses. "A person let me know you have your deposition tomorrow. He wants me to let you know that he's thinking about you. He knows you're loyal, and you're going to do the right thing when you go in for your deposition." I think most Americans know that attempting to influence witnesses to testify untruthfully presents very serious concerns. 06/23/22 Select Committee Hearing June 23, 2022 House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol Witnesses: Jeffrey A. Rosen, Former Acting Attorney General Richard Donoghue, Former Acting Deputy Attorney General Steven Engel, Former Assistant Attorney General for the Office of Legal Counsel Eric Herschmann, Former White House Senior Advisor Clips Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS): From the time you took over from Attorney General Barr until January 3, how often did President Trump contact you or the Department to push allegations of election fraud? Former Acting Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen: So between December 23 and January 3, the president either called me or met with me virtually every day, with one or two exceptions like Christmas Day Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ): Again, I join my colleagues in calling on Attorney General Barr to immediately let us know what he's doing. Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ): We're already working on challenging the certified electors. And what about the court? How pathetic are the courts? Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL): January 6, I'm joining with the fighters in the Congress, and we are going to object to electors from states that didn't run clean elections. Democracy is left undefended if we accept the result of a stolen election without fighting with every bit of vigor we can muster. Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH): The ultimate date of significance is January 6. This is how the process works. The ultimate arbiter here, the ultimate check and balance, is the United States Congress. And when something is done in an unconstitutional fashion, which happened in several of these states, we have a duty to step forward and have this debate and have this vote on the 6th of January. Former Acting Deputy Attorney General Richard Donoghue: So both the Acting Attorney General [Rosen] and I tried to explain to the President on this occasion, and on several other occasions that the Justice Department has a very important, very specific, but very limited role in these elections. States run their elections. We are not quality control for the states. We are obviously interested in and have a mission that relates to criminal conduct in relation to federal elections. We also have related civil rights responsibilities. So we do have an important role, but the bottom line was if a state ran their election in such a way that it was defective, that is to the state or Congress to correct. It is not for the Justice Department to step in. And I certainly understood the President, as a layman, not understanding why the Justice Department didn't have at least a civil role to step in and bring suit on behalf of the American people. We tried to explain that to him. The American people do not constitute the client for the United States Justice Department. The one and only client of the United States Justice Department is the United States government. And the United States government does not have standing, as we were repeatedly told by our internal teams. Office of Legal Counsel, led by Steve Engel, as well as the Office of the Solicitor General researched it and gave us thorough clear opinions that we simply did not have standing and we tried to explain that to the President on numerous occasions. Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL): Let's take a look at another one of your notes. You also noted that Mr. Rosen said to Mr. Trump, quote, "DOJ can't and won't snap its fingers and change the outcome of the election." How did the President respond to that, sir? Former Acting Deputy Attorney General Richard Donoghue: He responded very quickly and said, essentially, that's not what I'm asking you to do. What I'm just asking you to do is just say it was corrupt and leave the rest to me and the Republican Congressmen. Former Acting Deputy Attorney General Richard Donoghue: There were isolated instances of fraud. None of them came close to calling into question the outcome of the election in any individual State. January 6 Committee Lawyer: And was representative Gaetz requesting a pardon? Eric Herschmann: Believe so. The general tone was, we may get prosecuted because we were defensive of, you know, the President's positions on these things. A pardon that he was discussing, requesting, was as broad as you could describe, from the beginning of time up until today, for any and all things. He had mentioned Nixon and I said Nixon's pardon was never nearly that broad. January 6 Committee Lawyer: And are you aware of any members of Congress seeking pardons? Cassidy Hutchinson: I guess Mr. Gaetz and Mr. Brooks, I know, both advocated for, there to be a blanket pardon for members involved in that meeting and a handful of other members that weren't at the December 21 meeting as the preemptive pardons. Mr. Gaetz was personally pushing for a pardon and he was doing so since early December. I'm not sure why. Mr. Gaetz had reached out to me to ask if he could have a meeting with Mr. Meadows about receiving a Presidential pardon. January 6 Committee Lawyer: Did they all contact you? Cassidy Hutchinson: Not all of them, but several of them did. January 6 Committee Lawyer: So you'd be mentioned Mr. Gaetz and Mr. Brooks. Cassidy Hutchinson: Mr. Biggs did. Mr. Jordan talks about congressional pardons but he never asked me for one. It was more for an update on whether the White House is going to pardon members of Congress. Mr. Gohmert asked for one as well. Mr. Perry asked for a pardon too, I'm sorry. January 6 Committee Lawyer: Mr. Perry, did he talk to you directly? Cassidy Hutchinson: Yes, he did. Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL): Mr. Clark was the acting head of the Civil Division and head of Environmental and Natural Resources Division at the Department of Justice. Do either of those divisions have any role whatsoever in investigating election fraud, sir? Former Acting Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen: No. And and to my awareness, Jeff Clark had had no prior involvement of any kind with regard to the work that the department was doing. Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL): Is there a policy that governs who can have contact directly with the White House? Former Acting Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen: Yes. So across many administrations for a long period of time, there's a policy that particularly with regard to criminal investigations restricts at both the White House and the Justice Department and those more sensitive issues to the highest ranks. So for criminal matters, the policy for a long time has been that only the Attorney General and the Deputy Attorney General from the DOJ side can have conversations about criminal matters with the White House, or the Attorney General and the Deputy Attorney General can authorize someone for a specific item with their permission. But the idea is to make sure that the top rung of the Justice Department knows about it, and is in the thing to control it and make sure only appropriate things are done. Steven Engel: The purpose of these these policies is to keep these communications as infrequent, and at the highest levels as possible, just to make sure that people who are less careful about it who don't really understand these implications, such as Mr. Clark, don't run afoul of those contact policies. Former Acting Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen: He acknowledged that shortly before Christmas, he had gone to a meeting in the Oval Office with the President. That, of course, surprised me. And I asked him, How did that happen? And he was defensive, he said it had been unplanned, that he had been talking to someone he referred to as "General Perry," but I believe is Congressman Perry, and that, unbeknownst to him, he was asked to go to a meeting and he didn't know it, but it turned out it was at the Oval -- he found himself at the Oval Office. And he was apologetic for that. And I said, Well, you didn't tell me about it. It wasn't authorized. And you didn't even tell me after the fact. You know, this is not not appropriate. But he was contrite and said it had been inadvertent and it would not happen again and that if anyone asked him to go to such a meeting, he would notify [Former Acting Deputy Attorney General] Rich Donohue and me. Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL): On the same day Acting Attorney General Rosen told Mr. Clark to stop talking to the White House, Representative Perry was urging Chief of Staff Mark Meadows to elevate Clark within the Department of Justice. You can now see on the screen behind me a series of tasks between representative Perry and Mr. Meadows. They show that Representative Perry requested that Mr. Clark be elevated within the department. Representative Perry tells Mr. Meadows on December 26, that quote, "Mark, just checking in as time continues to count down, 11 days to January 6 and 25 days to inauguration. We've got to get going!" Representative Perry followed up and says quote, "Mark, you should call Jeff. I just got off the phone with him and he explained to me why the principal deputy won't work especially with the FBI. They will view it as not having the authority to enforce what needs to be done." Mr. Meadows responds with "I got it. I think I understand. Let me work on the deputy position." Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY): Mr. Donohue on December 28, Mr. Clark emailed you and Mr. Rosen a draft letter that he wanted you to sign and send to Georgia State officials. This letter claims that the US Department of Justice's investigations have quote, "identified significant concerns that may have impacted the outcome of the election in multiple States, including the state of Georgia." The letter also said this: quote, "in light of these developments, the Department recommends that the Georgia General Assembly should convene in special session," end quote, and consider approving a new slate of electors. Steven Engel: The States had chosen their electors, the electors had been certified, they'd cast their votes, they had been sent to Washington DC. Neither Georgia nor any of the other States on December 28, or whenever this was, was in a position to change those votes. Essentially, the election had happened. The only thing that hadn't happened was the formal counting of the votes. Former Acting Deputy Attorney General Richard Donoghue: I had to read both the email and the attached letter twice to make sure I really understood what he was proposing because it was so extreme to me, I had a hard time getting my head around it initially. But I read it and I did understand it for what he intended and I had to sit down and sort of compose what I thought was an appropriate response. In my response, I explained a number of reasons this is not the Department's role to suggest or dictate to State legislatures how they should select their electors. But more importantly, this was not based on fact, that this was actually contrary to the facts, as developed by Department investigations over the last several weeks and months. So I responded to that. And for the Department to insert itself into the political process's way, I think would have had grave consequences for the country. It may very well have spiraled us into a Constitutional crisis. And I wanted to make sure that he understood the gravity of the situation because he didn't seem to really appreciate it. Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL): President Trump rushed back early from Mar-a-Lago on December 31, and called an emergency meeting with the Department's leadership. Mr. Donohue, during this meeting, did the President tell you that he would remove you and Mr. Rosen because you weren't declaring there was election fraud? Former Acting Deputy Attorney General Richard Donoghue: Toward the end of the meeting, the President, again was getting very agitated. And he said, "People tell me I should just get rid of both of you. I should just remove you and make a change in the leadership, put Jeff Clark and maybe something will finally get done." Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL): Mr. Rosen during a January 2 meeting with Mr. Clark, did you confront him again about his contact with the President? And if so, can you describe that? Former Acting Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen: We had -- it was a contentious meeting where we were chastising him that he was insubordinate, he was out of line, he had not honored his own representations of what he would do. And he raised again, that he thought that letter should go out. And we were not receptive to that. Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL): So in that meeting, did Mr. Clark say he would turn down the President's offer if you reversed your position and sign the letter? Former Acting Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen: Yes. Subsequently, he told me that on the on Sunday the 3rd. He told me that the timeline had moved up, and that the President had offered him the job and that he was accepting it. Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL): White House Call Logs obtained by the Committee show that by 4:19pm, on January 3, the White House had already begun referring to Mr. Clark as the Acting Attorney General. Let's ask about that, what was your reaction to that? Former Acting Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen: Well, you know, on the one hand, I wasn't going to accept being fired by my subordinate. So I wanted to talk to the President directly. Former Acting Deputy Attorney General Richard Donoghue: So the four of us knew, but no one else, aside from Jeff Clark of course, knew what was going on until late that Sunday afternoon. We chose to keep a close hold, because we didn't want to create concern or panic in the Justice Department leadership. But at this point, I asked the Acting AG [Rosen], what else can I do to help prepare for this meeting in the Oval Office, and he said, You and Pat [Cipollone] should get the Assistant Attorney Generals on the phone, and it's time to let them know what's going on. Let's find out what they may do if there's a change in leadership, because that will help inform the conversation at the Oval Office. We got most, not all, but most of the AAGs on the phone. We very quickly explained to them what the situation was. [They] essentially said they would leave, they would resign en mass if the President made that change in the department leadership. Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL): DOJ leadership arrived at the White House. Former Acting Deputy Attorney General Richard Donoghue: The conversation this point was really about whether the President should remove Jeff Rosen and replace him with Jeff Clark. And everyone in the room, I think, understood that that meant that letter would go out. And at some point, the conversation turned to whether Jeff Clark was even qualified, competent to run the Justice Department, which in my mind, he clearly was not. And it was a heated conversation. I thought it was useful to point out to the President that Jeff Clark simply didn't have the skills, the ability and the experience to run the Department. And so I said, "Mr. President, you're talking about putting a man in that seat who has never tried a criminal case, who's never conducted a criminal investigation, he's telling you that he's going to take charge of the department, 115,000 employees, including the entire FBI, and turn the place on a dime and conduct nationwide criminal investigations that will produce results in a matter of days. It's impossible. It's absurd. It's not going to happen, and it's going to fail. He has never been in front of a trial jury, a grand jury. He's never even been to Chris Wray's office." I said at one point, "if you walked into Chris Wray's office, one, would you know how to get there and, two, if you got there, would he even know who you are? And you really think that the FBI is going to suddenly start following you orders? It's not going to happen. He's not competent." And that's the point at which Mr. Clark tried to defend himself by saying, "Well, I've been involved in very significant civil and environmental litigation. I've argued many appeals and appellate courts and things of that nature." And then I pointed out that, yes, he was an environmental lawyer, and I didn't think that was appropriate background to be running in the United States Justice Department. Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL): Did anybody in there support Mr. Clark? Former Acting Deputy Attorney General Richard Donoghue: No one. Along those lines, he [former President Trump] said, "so suppose I do this, suppose I replace him, Jeff Rosen, with him, Jeff Clark, what would you do?" And I said, "Mr. President, I would resign immediately. I'm not working one minute for this guy [Clark], who I just declared was completely incompetent." And so the President immediately turned to to Mr. Engel. Steven Engel: My recollection is that when the President turned to me and said, "Steve, you wouldn't leave, would you?" I said, "Mr. President, I've been with you through four Attorneys General, including two Acting Attorneys General, but I couldn't be part of this." Former Acting Deputy Attorney General Richard Donoghue: And I said, and we're not the only ones. No one cares if we resign. If Steve and I go, that's fine, it doesn't matter. But I'm telling you what's going to happen. You're gonna lose your entire Department leadership, every single AAG will walk out on you. Your entire Department of leadership will walk out within hours." And I said, "Mr. President, within 24...48...72 hours, you could have hundreds and hundreds of resignations of the leadership of your entire Justice Department because of your actions. What's that going to say about you?" Former Acting Deputy Attorney General Richard Donoghue: And then the other thing that I said was that, you know, look, all anyone is going to sort of think about when they see this...no one is going to read this letter....all anyone is going to think is that you went through two Attorneys General in two weeks until you found the environmental guy to sign this thing. And so the story is not going to be that the Department of Justice has found massive corruption that would have changed results of the election. It's going to be the disaster of Jeff Clark. I think at that point Pat Cipollone said, "Yeah, this is a murder suicide pact, this letter." Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL): Mr. Cipollone, the White House Counsel, told the Committee that Mr. Engels response had a noticeable impact on the President, that this was a turning point in the conversation. Mr. Donohue, towards the end of this meeting, did the President asked you what was going to happen to Mr. Clark? Former Acting Deputy Attorney General Richard Donoghue: He did. When we finally got to, I'd say, the last 15 minutes of the meeting, the President's decision was apparent, he announced it. Jeff Clark tried to scrape his way back and asked the President to reconsider. The President double down said "No, I've made my decision. That's it. We're not going to do it." And then he turned to me and said, "so what happens to him now?" Meaning Mr. Clark. He understood that Mr. Clark reported to me. And I didn't initially understand the question. I said, "Mr. President?" and he said, "Are you going to fire him?" And I said, "I don't have the authority to fire him. He's the Senate confirmed Assistant Attorney General." And he said, "Well, who has the authority to fire him?" And I said, "Only you do, sir." And he said, "Well, I'm not going to fire him." I said, "Alright, well, then we should all go back to work." 06/21/22 Select Committee Hearing June 21, 2022 House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol Witnesses: Rusty Bowers, Arizona House Speaker Brad Raffensperger, Georgia Secretary of State Gabriel Sterling, Georgia Secretary of State Chief Operating Officer Wandrea ArShaye, “Shaye” Moss, former Georgia election worker Ronna Romney McDaniel, RNC Chair Justin Clark, former Trump Campaign lawyer Robert Sinners, former Trump campaign staffer Andrew Hitt, Former Wisconsin Republican Party Chair Laura Cox, Former Michigan Republican Party Chair Josh Roselman, Investigative Counsel for the J6 Committee John Eastman, Former Trump Lawyer Mike Shirkey, Majority Leader of the Michigan Senate Angela McCallum, Trump Campaign caller Rudy Giuliani Clips Josh Roselman: My name is Josh Roselman, I'm an Investigative Counsel for the House Select Committee to investigate the January 6 attack on the United States Capitol. Beginning in late November 2020. The President and his lawyers started appearing before state legislators, urging them to give their electoral votes to Trump, even though he lost the popular vote. This was a strategy with both practical and legal elements. The Select Committee has obtained an email from just two days after the election, in which a Trump campaign lawyer named Cleata Mitchell asked another Trump lawyer, John Eastman, to write a memo justifying the idea. Eastman prepared a memo attempting to justify this strategy, which was circulated to the Trump White House, Rudy Giuliani's legal team, and state legislators around the country and he appeared before the Georgia State Legislature to advocate for it publicly. John Eastman: You could also do what the Florida Legislature was prepared to do, which is to adopt a slate of electors yourself. And when you add in the mix of the significant statistical anomalies in sworn affidavits and video evidence of outright election fraud, I don't think it's just your authority to do that, but quite frankly, I think you have a duty to do that to protect the integrity of the election here in Georgia. Josh Roselman: But Republican officials in several states released public statements recognizing that President Trump's proposal was unlawful. For instance, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp called the proposal unconstitutional, while Arizona House Speaker Rusty Bowers wrote that the idea would undermine the rule of law. The pressure campaign to get state legislators to go along with this scheme intensified when President Trump invited delegations from Michigan and Pennsylvania to the White House. January 6 Committee Lawyer: Either you or speaker Chatfield, did you make the point to the President, that you were not going to do anything that violated Michigan law? Mike Shirkey: I believe we did. Whether or not it was those exact words or not, I think the words that I would have more likely used is, "we are going to follow the law." Josh Roselman: Nevertheless, the pressure continued. The next day President Trump tweeted quote, "hopefully the Courts and/or Legislatures will have the COURAGE to do what has to be done to maintain the integrity of our Elections, and the United States of America itself. THE WORLD IS WATCHING!!!!" He posted multiple messages on Facebook, listing the contact information for state officials and urging his supporters to contact them to quote "demand a vote on decertification." These efforts also involves targeted outreach to state legislators from President Trump's lawyers and from Trump himself. Angela McCallum: Hi, my name is Angela McCallum, I'm calling from Trump campaign headquarters in Washington DC. You do have the power to reclaim your authority and send us a slate of Electors that will support President Trump and Vice President Pence. Josh Roselman: Another legislator, Pennsylvania House Speaker Brian Cutler, received daily voicemails from Trump's lawyers in the last week of November. Cutler felt that the outreach was inappropriate and asked his lawyers to tell Rudy Giuliani to stop calling, but Giuliani continued to reach out. Rudy Giuliani: I understand that you don't want to talk to me now. I just want to bring some facts to your attention and talk to you as a fellow Republican. Josh Roselman: These ads were another element in the effort. The Trump campaign spent millions of dollars running ads online and on television. Commercial Announcer: The evidence is overwhelming. Call your governor and legislators demand they inspect the machines and hear the evidence. Fake electors scheme Casey Lucier: My name is Casey Lucier. I'm an Investigative Counsel for the House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6 Attack on the United States Capitol. On November 18, a lawyer working with the Trump campaign named Kenneth Chesebro wrote a memo arguing that the Trump campaign should organize its own electors in the swing states that President Trump had lost. The Select Committee received testimony that those close to President Trump began planning to organize fake electors for Trump in states that Biden won in the weeks after the election. At the President's direct request, the RNC assisted the campaign in coordinating this effort. January 6 Committee Lawyer: What did the President say when he called you? Ronna Romney McDaniel: Essentially, he turned the call over to Mr. Eastman, who then proceeded to talk about the importance of the RNC helping the campaign gather these contingent electors in case any of the legal challenges that were ongoing change the result of any dates, I think more just helping them reach out and assemble them. But the My understanding is the campaign did take the lead, and we just were helping them in that in that role. Casey Lucier: As President Trump and his supporters continued to lose lawsuits, some campaign lawyers became convinced that convening electors in states that Trump lost was no longer appropriate. Justin Clark: I just remember I either replied or called somebody saying, unless we have litigation pending this, like in the states, like, I don't think this is appropriate, or no, this isn't the right thing to do. I'm out. Matt Morgan: At that point, I had Josh Findlay email Mr. Chesebro, politely, to say, "This is your task. You are responsible for the Electoral College issues moving forward". And this was my way of taking that responsibility to zero. Casey Lucier: The Committee learned the White House Counsel's Office also felt the plan was potentially illegal. January 6 Committee Lawyer: And so to be clear, did you hear the White House Counsel's office saying that this plan to have alternate electors meet and cast votes for Donald Trump in states that he had lost was not legally sound? Cassidy Hutchinson: Yes, sir. Casey Lucier: The Select Committee interviewed several of the individual fake electors, as well as Trump campaign staff who helped organize the effort. Robert Sinners: We were just, you know, kind of useful idiots or rubes at that point. You know, a strong part of me really feels that it's just kind of as the road continued, and as that was failure, failure, failure that that got formulated as what do we have on the table? Let's just do it. January 6 Committee Lawyer: And now after what we've told you today about the Select Committee's investigation about the conclusion of the professional lawyers on the campaign staff, Justin Clark, Matt Morgan and Josh Findlay, about their unwillingness to participate in the convening of these electors, how does that contribute to your understanding of these issues? Robert Sinners: I'm angry, I'm angry. Because I think in a sense, you know, no one really cared if people were potentially putting themselves in jeopardy. January 6 Committee Lawyer: Would you have not wanted to participate in this any further, as well? Robert Sinners: I absolutely would not have had I know that the three main lawyers for the campaign that I've spoken to in the past, and were leading up, we're not on board. Yeah. Andrew Hitt: I was told that these would only count if a court ruled in our favor. So that would have been using our electors. Well, it would have been using our electors in ways that we weren't told about and we wouldn't have supported. Casey Lucier: Documents obtained by the Select Committee indicate that instructions were given to the electors in several states that they needed to cast their ballots in complete secrecy. Because the scheme involved fake electors, those participating in certain states had no way to comply with state election laws, like where the electors were supposed to meet. One group of fake electors even considered hiding overnight to ensure that they could access the State Capitol, as required in Michigan. January 6 Committee Lawyer: Did Mr. Norton say who he was working with at all on this effort to have electors meet? Laura Cox: He said he was working with the President's campaign. He told me that the Michigan Republican electors were planning to meet in the Capitol and hide overnight so that they could fulfill the role of casting their vote per law in the Michigan chambers and I told him in no uncertain terms that that was insane and inappropriate. Casey Lucier: In one state, the fake electors even asked for a promise that the campaign would pay their legal fees if they got sued or charged with a crime. Ultimately, fake electors did meet on December 14, 2020 in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania, New Mexico, Nevada and Wisconsin. At the request of the Trump campaign, the electors from these battleground states signed documents falsely asserting that they were the quote, "duly elected" electors from their state and submitted them to the National Archives and to Vice President Pence in his capacity as President of the Senate. In an email produced to the Select Committee, Dr. Eastman told the Trump campaign representative that it did not matter that the electors had not been approved by a state authority. Quote, "the fact that we have multiple slates of electors demonstrates the uncertainty of either. That should be enough." He urged that Pence "act boldly and be challenged." Documents produced to the Select Committee show that the Trump campaign took steps to ensure that the physical copies of the fake electors' electoral votes from two states were delivered to Washington for January 6. Text messages exchanged between Republican Party officials in Wisconsin show that on January 4, the Trump campaign asked for someone to fly their fake electors' documents to Washington. A staffer for Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson texted a staffer for Vice President Pence just minutes before the beginning of the Joint Session. This staffer stated that Senator Johnson wished to hand deliver to the Vice President the fake electors' votes from Michigan and Wisconsin. The Vice President's aide unambiguously instructed them not to deliver the fake votes to the Vice President. Even though the fake elector slates were transmitted to Congress and the Executive Branch, the Vice President held firm and his position that his role was to count lawfully submitted electoral votes. Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS): Brad Raffensperger is the 29th Secretary of State of Georgia, serving in this role since 2019. As an elected official, and a Republican Secretary, Raffensperger is responsible for supervising elections in Georgia and maintaining the state's public records. Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS): Speaker Bowers, thank you for being with us today. You're the speaker of the Arizona House and a self-described conservative Republican. You campaigned for President Trump and with him during the 2020 election. Is it fair to say that you wanted Donald Trump to win a second term in office? Please? Rusty Bowers: Yes, sir. Thank you. Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS): And is it your understanding that President Biden was the winner of the popular vote in Arizona in 2020? Rusty Bowers: Yes, sir. Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA): Before we begin with the questions that I had prepared for you, I want to ask you about a statement that former President Trump issued, which I received just prior to the hearing. Former President Trump begins by calling you a RINO, Republican in Name Only. He then references a conversation in November 2020, in which he claims that you told him that the election was rigged, and that he had won Arizona. To quote the former President, "during the conversation, he told me the election was rigged and that I won Arizona," unquote. Is that false? Rusty Bowers: Anywhere, anyone, anytime that has said that I said the election was rigged, that would not be true. Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA): And when the former President, in his statement today, claimed that you told him that he won Arizona, is that also false? Rusty Bowers: That is also false. Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA): Mr. Bowers, I understand that after the election, you received a phone call from President Trump and Rudy Giuliani, in which they discussed the result of the presidential election in Arizona. If you would, tell us about that call. Rusty Bowers: Mr. Giuliani came on first. And niceties...then Mr. Trump, President Trump, then-President Trump came on. Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA): During the conversation did you ask Mr. Giuliani for proof of these allegations of fraud that he was making? Rusty Bowers: On multiple occasions, yes. Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA): And when you asked him for evidence of this fraud, what did he say? Rusty Bowers: He said that they did have proof. And I asked him, "Do you have names?" [He said] for example, we have 200,000 illegal immigrants, some large number, five or six thousand, dead people, etc. And I said, "Do you have their names?" Yes. "Will you give them to me?" Yes. The President interrupted and said, "Give the man what he needs Rudy." He said, "I will." And that happened on at least two occasions, that interchange in the conversation. Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA): Did you ever receive from him that evidence either during the call, after the call, or to this day? Rusty Bowers: Never. Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA): What was the ask during this call? Rusty Bowers: The ones I remember, were first, that we would hold -- that I would allow an official committee at at the Capitol so that they could hear this evidence, and that we could take action thereafter. I said, "to what end? To what end the hearing." He said, well, we have heard by an official high up in the Republican legislature that there is a legal theory or a legal ability in Arizona, that you can remove the the electors of President Biden and replace them. And we would like to have the legitimate opportunity, through the committee, to come to that end and and remove that. And I said that's, that's something that's totally new to me. I've never heard of any such thing. And I would never do anything of such magnitude without deep consultation with qualified attorneys. And I said, I've got some good attorneys, and I'm going to give you their names. But you're asking me to do something against my oath and I will not break my oath. Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA): Did you also receive a call from US Representative Andy Biggs of Arizona on the morning of January 6? Rusty Bowers: I did. Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA): And what did Mr. Biggs asked you to do? Rusty Bowers: I believe that was the day that the vote was occurring in each state to have certification or to declare the certification of the electors. And he asked if I would sign on both to a letter that had been sent from my State, and/or that I would support the decertification of the electors. And I said I would not. Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA): Speaking Bowers, did the President call you again later in December? Rusty Bowers: He did, sir. Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA): Did you tell the president in that second call that you supported him, that you voted for him, but that you are not going to do anything illegal for him? Rusty Bowers: I did, sir. Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA): Nevertheless, his lawyer John Eastman called you some days later, and what did Dr. Eastman want you to do? Rusty Bowers: That we would, in fact, take a vote to overthrow -- or I shouldn't say overthrow -- that we would decertify the electors, and that we had plenary authority to do so. But I said, "What would you have me do?" And he said, "Just do it and let the court sorted out." And I said, "You're asking me to do something that's never been done in history, the history of the United States. And I'm going to put my state through that without sufficient proof? And that's going to be good enough with me? That I would, I would put us through that, my state that I swore to uphold, both in Constitution and in law? No, sir." Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA): I want to look even more deeply at the fake electoral scheme. Every four years, citizens from all over the United States go to the polls to elect the President. Under our Constitution, when we cast our votes for president, we are actually voting to send electors pledged to our preferred candidate to the Electoral College. In December, the electors in each state meet, cast their votes, and send those votes to Washington. There was only one legitimate slate of electors from each state. On the Sixth day of January, Congress meets in a joint session to count those votes, and the winner of the Electoral College vote becomes the president. Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS): Secretary Raffensburger, thank you for being here today. You've been a public servant in Georgia since 2015, serving first as a member of the Georgia House of Representatives, and then since January 2019, as Georgia Secretary of State as a self described conservative Republican. Is it fair to say that you wanted President Trump to win the 2020 election? Brad Raffensperger: Yes, it is. Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA): Secretary Raffensperger, did Joe Biden win the 2020 presidential election in Georgia and by what margin? Brad Raffensperger: President Biden carried the state of Georgia by approximately 12,000 votes. Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA): Bear in mind as we discuss this call today that by this point in time, early January, the election in Georgia had already been certified. But perhaps more important, the President of the United States had already been told repeatedly by his own top Justice Department officials that the claims he was about to make to you about massive fraud in Georgia were completely false. 06/16/22 Select Committee Hearing June 16, 2022 House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol Witnesses: Greg Jacob, Former Counsel to Vice President Mike Pence J. Michael Luttig, Retired judge for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and informal advisor to Mike Pence Julie Radford, Former Chief of Staff for Ivanka Trump Eric Herschmann, Former White House Senior Advisor Nicholas Luna, Former Assistant to President Trump Gen. Keith Kellogg, Former National Security Advisor to VP Pence Clips 16:45 Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS): Greg Jacob was Counsel to Vice President Pence. He conducted a thorough analysis of the role of the Vice President in the Joint Session of Congress under the Constitution, the Electoral Count Act, and 230 years of historical practice. But he also has firsthand information about the attack on the Capitol because he lived through it. He was with the Vice President and his own life was in danger. 31:05 Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY): Eastman was, at the time, a law professor at Chapman University Law School. He prepared a memo outlining the nonsensical theory that the Vice President could decide the outcome of the election at the Joint Session of Congress on January 6. 32:50 Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY): Dr. Eastman himself admitted in an email that the fake electors had no legal weight. Referring to the fake electors as, quote "dead on arrival in Congress" end quote, because they did not have a certification from their States. 46:40 Greg Jacob: We had a constitutional crisis in 1876 because in that year, multiple slates of electors were certified by multiple slates [sic]. And when it came time to count those votes, the antecedent question of "which ones?" had to be answered. That required the appointment of an independent commission. That commission had to resolve that question. And the purpose of the Electoral Count Act of 1887 had been to resolve those latent ambiguities. Now I'm in complete agreement with Judge Luttig. It is unambiguous that the Vice President does not have the authority to reject electors. There is no suggestion of any kind that it does. There is no mention of rejecting or objecting to electors anywhere in the 12th amendment. And so the notion that the Vice President could do that certainly is not in the text. But the problem that we had and that John Eastman raised in our discussions was, we had all seen that in Congress in 2000, in 2004, in 2016, there had been objections raised to various states. And those had even been debated in 2004. And so, here you have an Amendment that says nothing about objecting or rejecting. And yet we did have some recent practice of that happening within the terms of the Electoral Count Act. So we started with that. 1:20:45 Greg Jacob: He again tried to say, but I don't think the courts will get involved in this. They'll invoke the political question doctrine and so if the courts stay out of it, that will mean that we'll have the 10 days for the States to weigh in and resolve it. And then, you know, they'll send back the Trump slates of electors, and the people will be able to accept that. I expressed my vociferous disagreement with that point, I did not think that this was a political question. Among other things, if the courts did not step in to resolve this, there was nobody else to resolve it. You would be in a situation where you have a standoff between the President of the United States and, counterfactually, the Vice President of the United States saying that we've exercised authorities that, Constitutionally, we think we have by which we have deemed ourselves the winners of the election. You would have an opposed House and Senate disagreeing with that. You would have State legislatures that, to that point, I mean, Republican leaders across those legislatures had put together, had put out statements, and we collected these for the Vice President as well, that the people had spoken in their States and that they had no intention of reversing the outcome of the election. We did receive some signed letters that Mr. Eastman forwarded us by minorities of leaders in those States, but no State had any legislative house that indicated that added any interest in it. So you would have had just a an unprecedented Constitutional jump ball situation with that standoff. And as I expressed to him, that issue might well then have to be decided in the streets. Because if we can't work it out politically, we've already seen how charged up people are about this election. And so it would be a disastrous situation to be in. So I said, I think the courts will intervene. I do not see a commitment in the Constitution of the question, whether the Vice President has that authority to some other actor to resolve there. There's arguments about whether Congress and the Vice President jointly have a Constitutional commitment to generally decide electoral vote issues. I don't think that they have any authority to object or reject them. I don't see it in the 12th Amendment, but nonetheless. And I concluded by saying, "John, in light of everything that we've discussed, can't we just both agree that this is a terrible idea?" And he couldn't quite bring himself to say yes to that. But he very clearly said, "Well, yeah, I see we're not going to be able to persuade you to do this." And that was how the meeting concluded. Rep. Pete Aguilar (D-CA): We understand that the Vice President started his day on January 4 with a rally in Georgia for the Republican candidates in the US Senate runoff. When the Vice President returned to Washington, he was summoned to meet with the President regarding the upcoming Joint Session of Congress. Mr. Jacob, during that meeting between the President and the Vice President, what theories did Dr. Eastman present regarding the role of the Vice President in counting the electoral votes? Greg Jacob: During the meeting on January 4, Mr. Eastman was opining there were two legally viable arguments as to authorities that the Vice President could exercise two days later on January 6. One of them was that he could reject electoral votes outright. The other was that he could use his capacity as Presiding Officer to suspend the proceedings and declare essentially a 10-day recess during which States that he deemed to be disputed, there was a list of five to seven states, the exact number changed from conversation to conversation, but that the Vice President could sort of issue and demand to the State Legislatures in those States to re-examine the election and declare who had won each of those States. So he said that both of those were legally viable options. He said that he did not recommend, upon questioning, he did not recommend what he called the "more aggressive option," which was reject outright, because he thought that that would be less politically palatable. The imprimatur of State Legislature authority would be necessary to ultimately have public acceptance of an outcome in favor of President Trump. And so he advocated that the preferred course of action would be the procedural route of suspending the Joint Session and sending the election back to the States. And again, the Vice President's first instinct here is so decisive on this question, there's just no way that the framers of the Constitution who divided power and authority, who separated it out, who had broken away from George III, and declared him to be a tyrant, there was no way that they would have put in the hands of one person, the authority to determine who was going to be President of the United States. And then we went to history. We examined every single electoral vote count that had happened in Congress since the beginning of the country. And critically, no Vice President, in 230 years of history, had ever claimed to have that kind of authority, hadn't claimed authority to reject electoral votes, had not claimed authority to return electoral votes back to the States. In the entire history of the United States, not once had a Joint Session, ever returned electoral votes back to the States to be counted. So the history was absolutely decisive. And again, part of my discussion with Mr. Eastman was, if you were right, don't you think Al Gore might have liked to have known in 2000, that he had authority to just declare himself President of the United States? Did you think that the Democrat lawyers just didn't think of this very obvious quirk that he could use to do that? And of course, he acknowledged Al Gore did not and should not have had that authority at that point in time. So at the conclusion of the meeting on the 4th, the President had asked that our office meet with Mr. Eastman the next day to hear more about the positions he had expressed at that meeting, and the Vice President indicated that....offered me up as his counsel, to fulfill that duty. We had an extended discussion an hour and a half to two hours on January 5. What most surprised me about that meeting was that when Mr. Eastman came in, he said, "I'm here to request that you reject the electors." So on the 4th, that had been the path that he had said, "I'm not recommending that you do that." But on the 5th, he came in and expressly requested that. Rep. Pete Aguilar (D-CA): Mr. Jacob did you, Mr. Short, and the Vice President have a call later that day, again, with the President and Dr. Eastman? Greg Jacob: So, yes, we did. Rep. Pete Aguilar (D-CA): And what did Dr. Eastman requested on that call? Greg Jacob: On that phone call, Mr. Eastman stated that he had heard us loud and clear that morning, we were not going to be rejecting electors. But would we be open to considering the other course that we had discussed on the 4th, which would be to suspend the Joint Session and request that State Legislatures reexamine certification of the electoral votes? Rep. Pete Aguilar (D-CA): Trump issued a statement claiming the Vice President had agreed that he could determine the outcome of the election, despite the fact that the Vice President had consistently rejected that position. Mr. Jacob, how did the Vice President's team reacts to the stat

Kentucky Today reports that there were no abortions in the state in September, and only two lives were lost to abortion in October. Meanwhile, the electorate voted down the pro-life initiative in the November election by a vote of 53% to 47%. The proposed constitutional amendment declared: “To protect human life, nothing in this Constitution shall be construed to secure or protect a right to abortion or require the funding of abortion.” Kentucky has a trigger law in place prohibiting abortion except for saving a woman's life or preventing serious risk to her physical health. Pool of Siloam to be opened to public The Israeli Antiquities Authority has announced that the ancient Pool of Siloam will be opened for visitors within the next few months. Excavation has begun on this historic pool where Jesus healed the blind man. The pool is dated back to the eighth century B.C., during the reign of King Hezekiah. The pool was over an acre in expanse. The perimeter of the pool was stepped, allowing bathers to sit and immerse themselves in the waters. John 9:6-7 tells of Jesus who “spat on the ground and made clay with the saliva; and He anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay. And He said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which is translated, Sent). So, he went and washed, and came back seeing.” 5.4- Richter scale earthquake in Northern California As God's providence rules and directs all of the natural world, a second earthquake hit Northern California on Sunday, registering 5.4 on the Richter Scale. Amy Grant set to perform homosexual faux wedding Christian pop singer Amy Grant told the Washington Post she would be hosting a homosexual faux wedding on her family farm. She summarized the Christian faith to the left-leaning newspaper this way: “Jesus, You just narrowed it down to two things: love God and love each other. I mean, hey, that's pretty simple.” But Franklin Graham pointed out that Jesus said, “If you love Me, keep My commandments” (John 14:15).” The evangelist said, “God defines what is sin, not us; and His Word is clear that homosexuality is sin.” Grant also detailed her reaction when her niece first came out of the closet to announce her homosexuality. She said, “What a gift to our whole family to just widen the experience of our whole family.” Plus, in an interview with Proud Radio in 2021, the popular singer said, “Gay. Straight. It does not matter.” The economic bloodbath of 2022 The NASDAQ composite index more than tripled in six years. The index dropped 35% in 2022 with six market rallies to attempt to arrest the slide. During the economic bloodbath of 2022, Tesla stock fell 70%. Amazon fell 56%, Meta or Facebook fell 68%, and Apple 29%. Bear markets, where stocks are losing value, have lasted as long as one and a half to two and a half years (over the last 70 years). So far, this bear market has lasted for about 14 months. Andy Biggs challenges Kevin McCarthy for House Speaker spot In his bid to become Speaker of the House, Republican Congressman Kevin McCarthy of California is still short 14 votes. The conservative House Freedom Caucus does not support his candidacy. Challenging him for the seat is Republican Rep. Andy Biggs of Arizona, chairman of the Freedom Caucus, reports AZ Central. Biggs refers to McCarthy as a RINO Establishment hack — or a Republican in Name Only. In a December 6th Daily Caller column, Biggs wrote, “We will never defeat or change the status quo, which is taking us to the Leftist's vision of America, by selecting a status quo candidate as the third most powerful person in the government.” TheHill.com made public a letter to Republicans signed by seven conservatives. Buffalo Church rescued 154 people on brutal Christmas Day In the midst of four feet of snow, one Buffalo, New York pastor and his team have made the news for reaching out and saving at least 128 people in the big storm over Christmas. Pastor Al Robinson of the Spirit of Truth Urban Ministry was surprised to discover their church still had power, while the neighborhoods around had lost their power. He described to News Nation what one family endured as well as the treacherous conditions. ROBINSON: “We had one family that first came here, a family I believe of eight. When they arrived their clothes were frozen to their skin. It was devastating what happens with people with severe hypothermia. The wind was negative 24 degrees. It was blowing between 50 and 70 miles per hour. You couldn't see your if you extended your arm out in front of your face. It was terrible!” The church team used iPhones and location-tracking applications to identify people needing help, and engaged rescue operations using snowmobiles. In total, the church sheltered 154 persons on Christmas Day. Pastor Robinson described the diversity of the people whom they rescued who celebrated the birth of Christ together in their warm church. ROBINSON: “We were all celebrating Christmas together and it was all nationalities. It was Arabic; it was Bengali; it was Iranian; it was Nigerian; it was Irish, Polish, Italian. I mean it was magnificent. I'd like to say it's like what we will see in Heaven!” Isaiah 58:6-7 has this for all believers: “Is this not the fast that the Lord has chosen: To loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke. Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, and that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out?” Couple celebrated 80th anniversary And finally, Robert and Edith Mae Schaum of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, have just celebrated their 80th anniversary! Robert revealed to WGAL News the secret to a happy marriage. ROBERT: “I guess the secret would be ‘don't go to bed mad.'” Indeed, Ephesians 4:26 says, “Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry.” Both are 102 years old. Do you feel like you have a good grasp of financial markets? Think again! In this episode, we take a plunge into the world of financial markets with experts Jules van Binsbergen and Jonathan Berk. Jules is a Professor of Finance at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and Jonathan is a Professor of Finance at Stanford Graduate School of Business. They also host a popular podcast called Else Equal, which explores the science and strategy of making better financial decisions, and have written several academic papers that challenge the status quo. In our conversation, we discuss their research on the relationship between manager skill and fund performance, the best ways to measure performance, and reasons why benefits are in favour of the managers. We also explore the dogma surrounding mutual funds, the differences between active and passive management, and how to measure efficient capital markets. Listeners will also hear perspectives that challenge their understanding of capital markets and viewpoints that completely disagree with previous guests. Although we have covered this topic before in previous episodes, this conversation will fundamentally change the way you view financial markets and how to think about them. Key Points From This Episode: What information fund performance contains about manager skill. (0:04:04) Reasons why manager skill and performance are unrelated. (0:04:59) We learn how manager skills should be measured. (0:06:57) How to choose the appropriate benchmark to measure value added. (0:09:26) Find out if you can use factor-mimicking portfolios to measure risk-adjusted returns. (0:12:05) Whether funds that directly target risk factors can be used as an investable benchmark. (0:32:36) Discover why research has focused on individual security pricing and not on evaluating manager skill. (0:34:25) We unpack the reasons why it's a zero net alpha as opposed to a negative net alpha in equilibrium. (0:38:19) We delve into why the research took so long to apply rational expectations to fund investors as with the stock market. (0:42:46) An explanation of how equilibrium zero net alpha fits into Bill Sharpe's arithmetic of active management. (0:48:16) Who benefits from the high amount of skill available within the sector. (0:51:11) Whether the increase in millionaires around the world drives inequality. (0:56:12) Hear if it is possible to identify skilled fund managers before the benefits of their skills are absorbed by fund size. (01:01:41) The implications on efficient market hypothesis for the stock market. (01:05:36) Advice for investors, considering that the benefits of skill are in favour of managers. (01:08:37) Details about their research on how multi-factor asset pricing models are not representative of risk. (01:12:45) We end the show by learning how our guests define success in their lives. Just updating you on how the colonoscopy didn't go. Yup, we were a no go for the colono! It sucks because I wanted to get that done and over with. But that darn constipation just wasn't having it. NOT to mention that that darn gawd awful prep drink was not going down smoothly. I tried. I did all I could to psyche myself into drinking it all. But. Just. Didn't. Happen. And so, unfortunately, I had to cancel it and will reschedule. It is what it is. Now, I'm gonna get deep into how I feel about Donald J. Trump and what I feel about CINOs (Christians in Name Only!). Oh it's getting real! Talk Time with Hope ain't holding back. More than ever before. Why? Because I'm tired of seeing people like Trump try to tear this country a part more than ever. He is an evil man. I believe him to be a cancer to this country. A cancer to Democracy itself. And we got to get out there and vote blue in 22! We need to not let those that are quick looney keep power. We need to vote them out. That is the Democratic way! And it works! I'm in Texas and I'll be voting for Beto! We need Abbott and Ted Cruz out. America needs Marco Rubio out! It needs DeSantis out! It needs Marjorie Taylor and Laura Bobert out! Don't care if I'm not spelling their names correctly. Change is needed! And that change for the betterment of this country needs to happen in November. Now is the time. We can do it too! So I implore you to go out and vote. Don't vote for your party, vote for your conscious. Vote for what is best for ALL Americans. Vote evil out. Vote that the cancer that is Donald J. Trump and all his minions is not just stopped but cut out so it will never be able to spread. And that can be done...NOT with violence but by voting! Thanks for giving me a listen! Some days I think "why do I keep doing this Podcast? Is anyone really listening and getting benefit from it? And then I think even if just ONE person can get something: encouragment, motivation, inspiration or just a good laugh at my dorkness...well that makes it worth it and that makes me get my lazy arse at the computer to do another episode.
Welcome to Episode 33! We start with a eulogy for Liz Cheney's political career after she got blown out in her Republican primary. This signals conservative Americans are finally waking up to the fact that many Republicans do not represent them, and it's time to stop electing establishment Republicans, also known as Never-Trumpers or RINOs (Republicans in Name Only). We next discuss two stories focused on a similar theme: liberal hypocrisy. Sam Harris, a "moral" voice on the left, stated this week that the media was justified in hiding the Hunter Biden story because Trump was so bad. Once liked by many including SB, Sam developed a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome years ago and has never recovered; indeed it appears to have gotten worse. TB then updates the audience on the happenings at IGN, a gaming website message board, including some outrageous hypocrisy when it comes to the American Flag vs. the Gay Pride flag. We celebrate the best #DefundingTheWoke yet - Brian Stelter is gone from CNN! His show was cancelled and he was fired. The new parent company of CNN, Warner Bros. Discovery, has a lot of debt to pay off, and they can no longer afford to be Woke. We also laugh at a parody-esque Stephen King tweet defending Stelter, or as he's commonly referred to, Mr. Potato Head. Next, we get into a societal deep dive on Elon Musk's recent tweet, "Being a Mom is just as important as any career." We're glad Elon said it and we hope there's more support by popular figures for women choosing stay-at-home motherhood. We also theorize the pressure to be a career woman and "beat the patriarchy" is a cause of higher rates of depression among woman than men. To finish up, we discuss feedback on our recent Trump vs. DeSantis debate in which TB convinced a listener to vote Ron over Don! But we both agree, either will be much better than Biden and the debate is more about who is strategically a better fit to beat the Democrats in 2024. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/the-woke-antidote/support

Today's show opens with the topic of recession. I already told you based on continued inflation both at the consumer (9.1%) and the wholesale (11.3%) levels, there is no way to avoid another quarter of negative Growth Domestic Product. Now, I am certain of it! Why? Because Janet Yellen assures us it's not going to happen. And Biden White House economic adviser Brian Deese has redefined the terminology. On top of that, the office posting from Whitehouse.gov has also redefined what a recession means. Folks, it's simple...two back-to-back quarters of negative GDP is considered recession. If the economy is going in the wrong direction for half a year, can we all agree that isn't a good thing? Our economy is not only receding, it's going to get worse long before it gets better and everyone in the White House is in total denial. I think they have been lying to themselves and to us for so long, they really do believe what they are selling is truth. It's not. While we are onto truth, a Michigan news channel released the results of the GOP primary, revealing the winners in all the races for the state on the Republican side of the aisle. The only problem with that is the primary isn't until next week, August 5th. Seems odd they have already picked the winners a week before the first vote is cast, but nothing to see here, right? And while we are on the topic of election integrity, which we know the J6 Committee is all about, has Representative Liz Cheney (R-WY) already switched parties? We all know calling her a RINO is almost an insult to other Republicans in Name Only, but she tool to the floor of the House and condemned her “colleagues from the other side of the aisle” and then went on to name Republican Mark Meadows. Seems strange to use that phrase, doesn't it? Maybe she's already begun the paperwork to formally switch parties. After all, isn't that just a formality at this point, given her track record and her actions on the J6 Committee? Finally, we give just a little levity as it's time for another Deep Thought with VP Kamala Harris. It's stunning how vapid and unintelligent this woman is, and the scary part, she may end up filling the rest of Biden's term after the November midterms. While Biden is the sock puppet, eager to do whatever his advisers tell him, her track record does not bode well for the White House handlers. She is not going to take direction well at all, which may explain why they have installed a revolving door in her office. She has already lost 17 staffers in less than two years, which says something about what it's like to deal with her. Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade, opening the door to surveillance In a 6-3 decision Friday, the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. Justices Breyer, Sotomayor, and Kagan were the only dissenting justices. Writing for the majority, Justice Alito left it up to state legislatures to write their own abortion laws. As far as tech policy is concerned, many advocates, including WashingTech, are concerned that law enforcement will now be able to surveil location data in any of the 13 states in which abortion is now outlawed. Congress inches closer to federal privacy law The House Energy & Commerce Committee passed a bipartisan privacy framework on Thursday, with the measure now heading to the Senate. Reuters' Diane Bartz reports the bill would let you opt out of targeted ads online. It would also give users the ability to sue firms for selling their user data to third parties. The bill would override the patchwork of state privacy laws we have currently in states including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah and Virginia. The Washington Post reported Thursday that Senator Maria Cantwell, a key vote, doesn't support the bill in its current form for precisely that reason – the Senator believes that, in many cases, the state privacy rules are stronger than the ones in the House bill. Greintens may have incited violence on social with ‘RINO' hunting video Eric Greitens, the former Republican governor of Missouri who is now running for the US Senate, posted a video appearing to encourage viewers to go ‘RINO' hunting – RINO being an acronym for Republican in Name Only. “Join the MAGA crew,” Greitens says in the video, “Get a RINO hunting permit.” He says this as he's holding a shotgun surrounded by smoke, and a couple of boneheads dressed up as SWOT team officers bust through the door behind him. Facebook was the only company to remove the video outright. Twitter and YouTube left it up, although Twitter added a “public interest notice” to the tweet. Talk therapy apps under scrutiny If you've used a talk therapy app like Betterhelp or Talkspace since COVID started, chances are you've had at least a fleeting concern about how these companies use your data. Well, Senators Elizabeth Warren, Cory Booker, and Ron Wyden are concerned too, which is why they sent a letter to the firms asking them to explain their privacy practices. The Democratic lawmakers want to know how these firms collect data, what they do to protect it, and how they communicate their data protection practices to their users. Meta reportedly to shut down misinformation-reporting tool The Verge reports that Meta is planning to shut down Crowdtangle, which can be used to find misinformation within popular social media posts. Amazon may enable your Alexa assistant to take on the voice of a dead relative So at its annual re:MARS conference in Las Vegas, Amazon SVP and Head Scientist for Alexa, Rohit Prasad, demonstrated how a future iteration would enable your Alexa Assistant to take on the voice of anyone, including a dead relative, at least that was how Prasad decided to demonstrate the product – with someone's dead grandma reading a bedtime story. Don't ask me – I'm just reading what they wrote for me here. Anyway, that's it for this week. You can find links to all of these stories in the show notes. In this episode, Alex discusses Colombia's troubling elections, recession and stagflation worries, Eric Greiten's new campaign ad glorifying political violence, and the growing threat of white nationalist groups like Patriot Front. Colombia's outgoing president, a moderate named Ivan Duque, has tried to do everything right and has saved the country from economic collapse during the pandemic, however, his popularity was around 20%. Instead, two populists (far left and far right) are the most popular in Colombia for the presidential election. Alex ponders why the populace is so unhappy with Duque even when most indicators show he did a good job Alex worries that a recession could be inevitable in the coming year. Goldman Sachs has cut its economic forecast growth reports. Also, Bloomberg notes that “The Goldman team sees a 30% probability of entering a recession over the next year, up from 15% previously, and a 25% conditional probability of entering a recession in the second year if one is avoided in the first. That implies a 48% cumulative probability in the next two years versus 35% previously.” The Federal Reserve has also raised its interest rate by 75 basis points, Alex discusses how the goal of this is to cool off the economy by suppressing demand. Some worry that this may spark a recession and a spike in unemployment. These are symptoms of a malfunctioning economy or “stagflation.” Eric Greitens, the former governor of Missouri who had to resign due to assault charges and was accused of abusing his wife and children, has a new ad. This ad has him hunting “RINOS” (Republicans in Name Only). RINOS are Republicans like Liz Cheney that have criticized the MAGA movement and have condemned violent extremism. Alex worries that Greitens is glorifying political violence. However, it looks like he may win his election. Last week, 31 men were arrested for attempting to violently riot at a pride event in Idaho. They were members of the white nationalist group Patriot Front. Alex discusses that this group is growing in numbers and has had a national presence since its founding in 2017.
Disgraced former Missouri governor and GOP Senate candidate Eric Greitens released a wild ad Monday calling on primary voters to order a “RINO hunting permit” in an attack on Republicans known for breaking with former President Donald Trump. “RINO” – which stands for Republican in Name Only – has been used to label Republican lawmakers who openly criticize the former president or publicly oppose his belief that the 2020 presidential election was stolen. In recent months, Trump has urged Republicans to vote out lawmakers that have crossed him – most notably Rep. Liz Cheney. The Greitens ad took the attack on his fellow GOPers to another level. Monday's campaign ad was strongly criticized by bipartisan lawmakers, commentators and political pundits – many of whom accused Greitens of inciting violence. “Eric Greitens is an abuser, a blackmailer, and less than ten years ago — a Democrat. There is no basement too low for him to cover up his past Obama support and blindfold Missourians into believing he represents their values,” Hartzler said in a statement. “To be clear: The only RINO featured in Eric Greitens' web video is himself.” See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

A new campaign ad from Missouri US Senate Candidate Eric Greitens shows him armed with a long gun, with a team of commandos breaking into a home, as Greitens calls on viewers to get a hunting permit with no bagging limit for RINOs -- Republicans in Name Only. Former Ohio Gov. Bob Taft, a member of one of the great political dynasties in American history, questioned whether he could even get elected in today's hyperpartisan political climate. In a rare interview these days, the 80-year-old Republican told The Enquirer's "That's So Cincinnati" podcast that he'd be known as a "RINO" – Republican in Name Only – if he were still in politics. "I'm not sure there's much of a center-right ... on the Republican side," Taft said. "It could be a big challenge for someone like me to get elected as a Republican. There's no middle lane out there." Addressing the partisan extremes on both sides, Taft said: "It's like (the parties) don't want to allow the other side to have any victories that would help the other side get reelected. It's not healthy for democracy. It's not good for the country."
Highlights: “If you look at the Democrat's policies, their ideas, and how they actually show up in reality, they suck. Nothing good about it. They leave Black people broke, broken, and bruised with a ton of chaos following behind them. And so for me, watching that, looking at that, understanding how the world works, it became a no-brainer for me.” - Kathy Barnette“Black people are not special little unicorns. We want exactly what everyone else wants.” - Kathy Barnette“What I keep saying to the Republican Party is don't screw the pooch and pick a bad candidate!” - Kathy Barnette‘Within the Republican Party, I don't even know if we should call it RINOs, I was thinking like AINOs - Americans in Name Only.” - Kathy Barnette“Just be free. I'm sorry to intrude on your holiday week with this, but I want you to be prepared for what's to come next week. January 6 will be the first anniversary of one of the most shameful days in American history. On that date in 2021, the United States Capitol was attacked by thousands of armed loyalists to Donald Trump, some intent on killing members of Congress. Roughly 140 officers were injured in the attack. Five people died that day. But even now, almost a year later, Americans remain confused and divided about the significance of what occurred. Let me offer four basic truths:1. Trump incited the attack on the Capitol. For weeks before the attack, Trump had been urging his supporters to come to Washington for a “Save America March” on January 6, when Congress was to ceremonially count the electoral votes of Joe Biden's win. Without any basis in fact or law (60 federal courts as well as the Departments of Justice and Homeland Security concluded that there was no evidence of substantial fraud), Trump repeatedly asserted he had won the 2020 election and Biden had lost it. “Big protest in D.C. on January 6th. Be there, will be wild!” Trump tweeted on December 19. Then on December 26: “See you in Washington, DC, on January 6th. Don't miss it. Information to follow.” On December 30: “JANUARY SIXTH, SEE YOU IN DC!” On January 1: “The BIG Protest Rally in Washington, D.C. will take place at 11:00 A.M. on January 6th. Locational details to follow. StopTheSteal!”At a rally just before the violence, Trump repeated his falsehoods about how the election was stolen. “We will never give up,” he said. “We will never concede. It will never happen. You don't concede when there's theft involved. Our country has had enough. We will not take it anymore.” He told the crowd that Republicans are constantly fighting like a boxer with his hands tied behind his back, respectful of everyone — “including bad people.” But, he said, “we're going to have to fight much harder…. We're going to walk down to the Capitol, and we're going to cheer on our brave senators and congressmen and women, and we're probably not going to be cheering so much for some of them, because you'll never take back our country with weakness. You have to show strength, and you have to be strong…. We fight like hell. And if you don't fight like hell, you're not going to have a country anymore." He then told the crowd that “different rules” applied to them. “When you catch somebody in a fraud, you are allowed to go by very different rules. So I hope Mike [Pence] has the courage to do what he has to do, and I hope he doesn't listen to the RINOs [Republicans in Name Only] and the stupid people that he's listening to.” Then he dispatched the crowd to the Capitol as the electoral count was about to start. The attack on the Capitol came immediately after. 2. The events of January 6 capped two months during which Trump sought to reverse the outcome of the election. Shortly after the election, Trump summoned to the White House Republican lawmakers from Pennsylvania and Michigan, to inquire about how they might alter the election results. He even called two local canvassing board officials in Wayne County, Michigan's most populous county and one that overwhelmingly favored Biden. He phoned Georgia's Republican secretary of state to “find 11,780 votes,” according to a recording of that conversation, adding “the people of Georgia are angry, the people of the country are angry. And there's nothing wrong with saying that, you know, um, that you've recalculated.” He suggested that Georgia's secretary of state would be criminally prosecuted if he did not do as Trump told him. “You know what they did and you're not reporting it. You know, that's a criminal — that's a criminal offense. And you know, you can't let that happen. That's a big risk to you and to Ryan, your lawyer. That's a big risk.”He pressed the acting US attorney general and deputy attorney general to declare the election fraudulent. When the deputy said the department had found no evidence of widespread fraud and warned that it had no power to change the outcome of the election, Trump replied “Just say that the election was corrupt + leave the rest to me” and to Trump's congressional allies. Trump and his allies continued to harangue the attorney general and top Justice Department officials nearly every day until January 6. Trump plotted with an assistant attorney general to oust the acting attorney general and pressure lawmakers in Georgia to overturn the state's election results. But Trump ultimately decided against it after top department leaders pledged to resign en masse.Presumably, more details of Trump's attempted coup will emerge after the House Select Committee on January 6 gathers more evidence and deposes more witnesses. 3. Trump's attempted coup continues to this day. Trump still refuses to concede the election and continues to assert it was stolen. He presides over a network of loyalists and allies who have sought to overturn the election (and erode public confidence in it) by mounting partisan state “audits” and escalating attacks on state election officials. When asked recently about the fraudulent claims and increasingly incendiary rhetoric, a Trump spokeswoman said that the former president “supports any patriotic American who dedicates their time and effort to exposing the rigged 2020 Presidential Election.”Last week, Trump announced he will be hosting a news conference at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida on January 6. “Remember,” he said in the announcement “the insurrection took place on November 3rd. It was the completely unarmed protest of the rigged election that took place on January 6th." (Reminder: they were armed.) Trump then referred to the House investigation: "Why isn't the Unselect Committee of highly partisan political hacks investigating the CAUSE of the January 6th protest, which was the rigged Presidential Election of 2020?" Thank you for subscribing to my newsletter on power, politics and the real economy. If you'd like to support this work, please consider becoming a paid subscriber and sending a gift subscription. He went on to castigate "Rinos," presumably referring to his opponents within the party, such as Republican Reps. Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, who sit on the January 6 committee. "In many ways a Rino is worse than a Radical Left Democrat," Trump said, "because you don't know where they are coming from and you have no idea how bad they really are for our Country.” He added, “the good news is there are fewer and fewer RINOs left as we elect strong Patriots who love America.” Trump has endorsed a primary challenger to Cheney, while Kinzinger will leave Congress at the next election. Trump and other Republicans have also moved to punish 13 House Republicans who bucked party leadership and voted for a bipartisan infrastructure bill in November.4. All of this reveals an underlying problem in America.Trump and his co-conspirators must be held accountable, of course. Hopefully, the Select Committee's report will be used by the Justice Department in criminal prosecutions of Trump and his accomplices. But this in itself will not solve the underlying problem. A belligerent and narcissistic authoritarian has gained a powerful hold over a large portion of America. As many as 60 percent of Republican voters continue to believe his lies. Many remain intensely loyal. The Republican party is close to becoming a cult whose central animating idea is that the 2020 election was stolen from Trump.Trump has had help, of course. Fox News hosts and Facebook groups have promoted and amplified his ravings for their own purposes. Republicans in Congress and in the states have played along. But even with this help, Trump's attempted coup could not have gotten this far without something more basic: A substantial portion of the American population feels an anger and despair that has made them susceptible to Trump's swagger and lies.It is too simplistic to attribute this solely to racism or xenophobia. America has harbored white supremacist and anti-immigrant sentiments since its founding. The despair Trump has channeled is more closely connected to a profound loss of identity, dignity and purpose, especially among Americans who have been left behind – without college degrees, without good jobs, in places that have been economically abandoned and disdained by much of the rest of the country. The wages of these Americans have not risen in forty years, adjusted for inflation, even though the economy is now three times larger than it was four decades ago. The norm of upward mobility has been shattered for these Americans. Through their eyes, the entire American system is now rigged against them. This part of America yearns for a strongman to deliver it from despair. Trump has filled that void. To be sure, he's filled it with bombast, lies, paranoia, and neofascism. But he has filled it nonetheless. The challenge ahead is to fill it with a democracy and economy that work for everyone. Unless we understand and respond to this fundamental truth, we will miss the true meaning of January 6.**Do you agree? If not, what do you think is the real meaning of January 6? Christies's New Book Tells GOP to Move on. The host for this show is Tim Apicella. The guests are Jay Fidell, Cynthia Lee Sinclair and Winston Welch. Those Republican House Representatives who voted for improved roads, bridges, transit, ports, the things we expect our representatives to do, have received death threats from the angry Maga crowd. Fellow Representatives have called them traitors, and Trump wasted no time calling them, "sellouts, Rinos (Republicans in Name Only) and losers". Former NJ Governor Chris Christie's book will be released tomorrow. To promote his book, Republican Rescue, Christie has clearly told fellow GOP members that to win the 2022 elections, they must ignore Trump's tired old cries of election fraud. Imagine Trump's reaction and ire. Christie doesn't stop with Trump's tantrums of a stolen election. His new messages of breaking Trump fever is surprising. Other than Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, few have dared speak up and out, until now. In this episode on “Every Day Conversations on Race for Everyday People, “ I'm joined by Karen Fleshman and Commissioner Karen Clopton who are KINOS- Karen in Name Only. Karen Clopton shares her experience growing up Compton, in South Central Los Angeles when it was a middle-class Black neighborhood. She was adopted by her maternal grandparents. Her paternal grandmother was from Scotland. Her maternal grandfather and his family were raised in Arkansas and worked on the plantation, where his parents had been enslaved. When he was five, there was a white massacre of Black sharecroppers who were meeting to organize a union to sell their crops. Violence and lynchings of Black people caused her grandfather to flee Arkansas and be part of the Great Migration in 1939. They went to Los Angeles. Her paternal grandfather fled Tennessee in 1920 because his father was lynched for allegedly looking at a white woman. Karen Fleshman is the founder of Racy Conversations. Their mission is to inspire the anti-racist generation. She moved to the SF Bay Area in 2014 and was fixated on Ferguson and was really affected when the police officer Darren Wilson was not indicted for killing Mike Brown. During this conversation on race, we talk about the real history of the US, colonialism and slavery, as well as the white massacres of Black people in 1919, 1927 and 1954. We also discuss the racial purity laws from 1641 to 1967 with “Loving vs Virginia,” when inter-racial marriage was illegal. Even though those laws were no longer in place, the mindset stayed the same, and was ingrained from generation to generation amongst White people who made those racist laws. Listen to this episode and hear the advice that Karen Fleshman and Commissioner Karen Clopton provide to fight racism and to have productive conversations on race. Guest Bio Karen Fleshman is the founder of Racy Conversations and is a racial equity trainer and government accountability activist striving to build and support a community of people committed to love, learning, accountability, and action on race in America. What's Majority Leader Mike Shirkey's definition of "RINO" now that he's being called a Republican in Name Only for sticking up for the Sen. Ed McBroom report that found no evidence of widespread fraud? Rep. Alex Garza (D-Taylor) talks about why voter interest is high in his city this summer. And Tori Sachs from the Freedom Fund talks with the MIRS team about the Redistricting Commission failing to get a quorum, Unlock Michigan 2 and the future of the Fair and Equal Michigan ballot question.
I cannot say that I am really surprised that Liz Cheney was removed from her power position in the house following her persistent refusal to blindly proclaim that election fraud took place in the 2020 presidential election. Seeing as Donald Trump remains quite popular amongst republicans, leading any potential challenger in the party by solid margins, it is almost a given that he will seek reelection in 2024. And, after a devastating loss and blow to their egos by losing to Joe Biden, who they claimed was no real threat to Trump, it only makes sense that they would take revenge any way they can find it, not only to get back at dissidents, but also to bolster Trump's image for the next election season. Trump is essentially solidifying his role as a political outsider; this way he can state that all of the problems that he caused were in fact the democrats screwing up his policies. It is a deceptive tactic that seems as if it will ultimately fail; however, Trump's appeal amongst his base is not going anywhere. However, I do not see old school republicans going anywhere either. In fact, 100 popular republicans recently left the party after the vote to nix Cheney was approved. None of the republicans were currently in office, but do not underestimate this tactic by the more moderate republicans. They are attacking Trump in the best way they can, by simply allowing him to make a fool of himself with his humongous ego, which is what made him lose in 2020. There are prideful people everywhere, but most like to give off the pretense of civility; Trump has no such civility. He is brazen and bold leader that has little regard for the suffering of others. It appears to me that these two factions within the republican party will eventually devolve into a more intense battle for status. At this moment it appears that the republicans' biggest enemy is themselves; they cannot seem to find cohesion on any issue, and when they finally are able to it is often too extreme, and not at all well thought out. Today's republican policies are not written in smoke filled rooms with men in suits, but by online gossip columns spewing conspiracy theories. Any idiot with a computer and a little spare time is official a political strategist; Trump set that standard and now it appears that all bets are off. The republican train has fallen off the rails. Its ideas about a less liberal republican party are overshadowed by the fact that Liz Cheney's replacement is actually more liberal than Cheney when it comes to voting; this whole idea of ridding the party of RINOs (Republicans in Name Only) is a complete farce. Then there is the fact that the real deciders of elections are now independent voters. Independents can be moderates, but they can also be extremely neoliberal. Free market economics is a very big part of capitalism. How does one justify destroying business while at the same time promoting their own businesses? How does this not come off as manipulating the market for their own personal gain? How does purging politicians you do not trust result in stronger party? It seems to me that republicans are in the worst spot they have been in since they decided to give Michelle Bachman a platform. This is all political theater; it reeks of theatrics and only Tucker Carlson fans are impressed. Shock politicians like Trump are only appealing to massive amounts of people when they act foolish. But after the pandemic it is difficult for me to envision most people taking another chance on such a contentious candidate, one who is not willing to recognize their own mistakes. Trump's leadership skills failed. He acted like more of a coward than a man with courage, choosing to give people what they wanted instead of what they needed. He then decided to attack a woman who actually stood for something. Perhaps that is the real reason people adore this man, the fact that he is willing to destroy his enemies with gusto. Such performative dictates are alarming. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/morecontentplease/support

PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED:On this edition of Parallax Views, 2020's began the "Prestige TV" season earlier this year with FX's Mrs. America leading the charge. This show, based on the battles of the feminist Women's Liberation Movement of the 1970s, centers on the anti-feminist arch-conservative Phyllis Schlafly. The show gained a lot of attention upon it's release for being "timely" in regards to the American political moment of polarization and dealing with the fights between the right (Schalfly) and the left (Gloria Steinem, who is also features in the series) that echo today. Eileen Jones, a film critic at Jacobin, however, has a different take on the series that is decidedly more critical. Eileen, J.G., and Casey discuss the real Phyllis Schalfly and her contributions to the American right wing in the 20th century as well as her often covered-up ties to the fringe John Birch Society. Then we begin to discuss the portrayal of Schlafly in Mrs. America as well as the portrayal of Gloria Steinem. Additionally we discuss the contradictions in Schalfly own life. We also talk about Schlafly's involvement with the Barry Goldwater movement and the role she played in promoting the elite Republican or RINO (Republican in Name Only) narrative within conservative circles through her book A Choice Not an Echo. Eileen and J.G. also note that Schlafly was a huge part of integral part of movement conservatism up until her death and, in fact, even after - her last book, The Conservative Case for Trump, was published posthumously after her death. Eileen expresses her issues with the way Mrs. America doesn't tackle the grotesqueness of Schlafly's legacy and the attempts to psychologize Schlafly and the liberal use of fictionalized dramatization. J.G., on the other hand, notes the conservative backlash against the TV series. This leads us into a discussion of the show's repeated "poor Phyllis" trope to explain Schlafly's politics and what Eileen considers the lame symbolism utilized in the series. And, of course we address the conservatism criticism of the show that claims Schlafly's is portrayed as a cynical operator rather than a true believer, anti-communist ideologue and the racist element of Schlafly's career and activism that is often overlooked. All that and much more on this previously unreleased edition of Parallax Views.

A Christian in Name Only (abbreviated XINO), also called a cultural Christian, nominal Christian, or more often, a liberal Christian is someone who professes to be a Christian in public but has a considerable lack of knowledge about the basic tenets of one's professed faith, often "knowing" it only from what is half-remembered from Sunday school or pop-cultural osmosis. This includes ignorance of the contents of the Bible in general and may specifically include not being able to name the Four Gospels, the Ten Commandments, or even the fact that Jesus Christ gave the Sermon on the Mount. They may hold beliefs contrary to the teachings of Jesus, including considering abortion, special rights for homosexuals, social justice, gun control, adultery, and cohabitation between unmarried people to be morally acceptable and following situational ethics rather than the absolute morality of the Bible. They also might believe in other ways to attain salvation rather than accepting Jesus as one's Lord and Savior or otherwise dismiss core Christian doctrines regarding salvation, such as the need for forgiveness. They may themselves live according to lifestyle choices condemned by Scripture or hold up others who do so as good Christian role models, thereby rendering their Christian witness worthless or even damaging. When challenged on their views with quotations from Scripture, Christians in name only, if they believe in God at all, often respond with unsupported assertions as to what God wants or with Bible passages that are "interpreted" beyond recognition. 27 October 2019 30th Sunday in Ordinary Time Luke 18:9-14 + Homily 16 Minutes 56 Seconds Link to the Readings: http://www.usccb.org/bible/readings/102719.cfm (New American Bible, Revised Edition) From the parish bulletin: If “religio” is translated as being bound to a particular outlook on life, then everyone is religious. The saints simply have bound themselves to true religion. Today that is a socially unacceptable assertion, but “political correctness” is itself a form of religion. Early Christians were condemned as atheists because they refused to worship the gods approved by the government. The term “agnostic,” presumably coined by T.H. Huxley in 1869, is just a lazy form of atheism. But institutionalized atheism, which the Soviets called “gosateizm,” has caused the deaths of hundreds of millions. In our own country, it has created a hollowness of spirit and consequent despair. It is not irrelevant to this case that the most impressionable age group in our society, adolescents, have had a 56% rise in suicides in the last ten years. Saint Polycarp could have been spared death by burning had he renounced “Atheism,” which meant Christianity, but he shocked the pagans in the stadium by shouting that they were the real atheists. Around 110 AD, Pliny the Younger, governor in northern Asia Minor, would exonerate Christians if they would worship the emperor Trajan as a god, along with the statues in the state pantheon, “which it is said bona fide Christians cannot be induced to do.” Thus there were even then what we now call “CINOs”—Catholics in Name Only, not “bona fide,” who claim to be Catholic only when politically convenient, or in order to get married in a pretty church. “Secularism” is a religion with a non-creedal creed censuring those who do not believe in unbelief. Young people in the United States who claim to have “No Religion”—called “Nones”—now outnumber Catholics, and they have their own prophets, redefining morality and predicting apocalypse by carbon emissions. “Politically incorrect” thinkers are banned from universities as heretics. Attorney General William Barr recently exposed this in an address at the law school of Notre Dame University: The secular project “is taking on all the trappings of religion, including inquisitions and excommunication. Those who defy the creed risk a figurative burning at the stake—social, educational and professional ostracism and exclusion waged through lawsuits and savage social media campaigns.” Some church leaders have tried to cajole secularists by avoiding mention of true religion. By contrast, Bishop Athanasius Schneider of Kazakhstan, whose family suffered under Stalin’s pogroms, has said that a dispirited Catholicism is “an extremely cunning method of Satan to take away the successors of the Apostles and priests from prayer and evangelization—under the pretext of a so-called ‘synodality.’” The Founder of what politically correct idolaters in every age have considered heretical atheism warned: “For he that shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him the Son of man shall be ashamed, when he shall come in his majesty, and that of his Father, and of the holy angels” (Luke 9:26). Faithfully yours in Christ, Father George W. Rutler

In response to the uproar generated by his utterly deceitful union-subsidized mailers, gubernatorial candidate Sam McCann tweeted that “all” he did was say that State Representative Tom Morrison “supports Rauner.” Unbelievable. McCann lied again. He did not merely say Morrison “supports Rauner.” He accused Morrison of being a “Republican in Name Only” (RINO) and did so in mailers in Morrison’s district in the midst of a difficult re-election campaign. Then No-Shot McCann posted this on his “McCann for Gov” Facebook page… READ MORE… Continue Reading

Host: Chris Mooney When it comes to the U.S. political right, it often appears that the opposition to science-and reason in general-is everywhere. From climate change denial to anti-evolutionism; from debt ceiling denial to, that's right, incandescent light bulb availability denial; conservatives today have plenty to answer for. Fortunately, some conservatives know it. And given how much he has blasted the "Republican War on Science" in the past, on this show Chris Mooney wanted to hear their take. So he invited on David Frum. Frum is the editor of the group blog Frum Forum, a former speechwriter for the George W. Bush White House, and a widely published author, most recently of Comeback: Conservatism that Can Win Again. In recent years, Frum has become a leading critic of today's GOP and its allegiance with the likes of Rush Limbaugh and Fox News. Joining Frum is Kenneth Silber, a frequent contributor to Frum Forum. Silber is a science writer based in New Jersey who contributes to Research Magazine, Scientific American, and other outlets. He calls himself a "center-right dissenter, a deviationist apostle of the Frumian Heresy" and these days, a RINO (Republican in Name Only).
