What if your customers like your software, but don't have the time to use it? Farzad Rashidi learned this the hard way. Back in college, he cold emailed the founder of Visme, offered to work for free, and eventually became the company's first marketing hire. He helped grow the bootstrapped platform to eight figures and learned one major lesson along the way: backlinks could drive serious organic growth, but the outreach process was painfully time-consuming. That insight eventually led him to co-found Respona, an outreach platform built to make the process easier. At first, the software gained traction. But over time, Farzad and his team ran into a frustrating problem. Customers did not leave because the product was bad. They left because they did not have the bandwidth to actually use it. In this episode of The Rising Tide Startups, Farzad shares how one conversation with an Australian client helped them rethink the entire business. That moment pushed Responda from DIY software into a productized service, and helped unlock 5x revenue growth in just twelve months. Key Takeaways: Action Produces Information. Taking any step forward yields the critical data points required to make the right move. Focus on Outcomes. Customers care about tangible results and deliverables, not just being handed a toolset they have to manage themselves. Build a Surround Sound Strategy. Modern AI search visibility requires replicating citations across authoritative lookalike publications. Position Yourself to Get Lucky. Proactive, direct initiative throws enough spaghetti at the wall until something sticks. Productize Your Services. Scale manual workflows by turning human operations into a standardized, predictable assembly line. Lower the Bar to Execution. With minimal technical overhead required today, launching an early project beats staying trapped in the idea stage. Seize Exponential Shifts. Capitalizing on moments when technology and user behaviors fundamentally change creates an immediate competitive edge. Farzad Rashidi underscores a major shift in the world of digital marketing, emphasizing that search engines and AI-powered tools now prioritize external validation over traditional keyword optimization. He highlights the growing importance of branded mentions and third-party references—such as listicles and independent product reviews—in boosting a company's visibility and credibility in search results generated by large language models like ChatGPT and Google's AI overviews. According to Farzad, the frequency and authenticity of these mentions across reputable sites play a decisive role in how brands are perceived by both search algorithms and potential customers. He advocates for a comprehensive strategy that combines the creation of high-quality content with a robust outreach operation focused on building relationships and earning authoritative citations. Farzad's approach recognizes that effective online reputation management now involves being present and positively referenced across a network of trusted platforms, not just a brand's own website. This methodology not only drives organic traffic and strengthens SEO but also helps future-proof businesses against the evolving criteria set by AI-driven search technologies. If you're looking to elevate your digital presence and stay ahead in the changing search landscape, Farzad invites you to explore the solutions and resources they offer at Respona. By leveraging Respona's AI-powered, human-assisted outreach platform, efficiently secure the authoritative mentions that matter most—amplify your reputation and drive growth in an increasingly competitive marketplace. Focus on Content Promotion Over Creation: Farzad emphasises the importance of dedicating more resources to promoting content rather than just creating it. He suggests an 80/20 rule, where 20% of resources should be spent on content creation and 80% on promotion. This approach ensures that the content reaches a wider audience and has a greater impact.2. Utilise Listicle and Product Review Strategies: Farzad recommends using listicle strategies to get products featured in articles that list the best products in a category. He also suggests reaching out to websites that review similar products, even if they are not direct competitors, to get your product reviewed. This increases the frequency of mentions, which is crucial for AI-driven search engines.3. Personalised and Incentivised Outreach: When reaching out to potential partners or websites for product placement, Farzad advises keeping emails short, personalised, and offering a clear incentive. This could be free samples, affiliate opportunities, or other benefits that make it worthwhile for the recipient to engage with your brand.---If this episode of the eCommerce Podcast piqued your interest make sure to check out everything that gets done over here on the eCommerce Podcast, a space dedicated to eCommerce Wow!

How's your affiliate program looking? Have you noticed how most of your affiliate traffic and referrals are from less than 20% of your channel partners? Picture your top affiliate. What would it look like if you had 5, 10, 50 more affiliates just. like. them. But friends… I've got a problem. I'm looking at our channel partner program in FirstPromoter and I have to be honest, the vast majority of my affiliates have zero referrals last quarter. That's not good! It's not good for my program, and it's not good for those partners. Now, some of those affiliates could use with some better nurturing and training, and that's on me, and something we'll touch on in a future episode. But I also have to wonder what else I could be doing to bring in more affiliates like my top earners. The ones that are driving loads of traffic and quite literally making thousands of dollars a month from Agorapulse commissions. Well, that's exactly what our guest today, Farzad Rashidi, is going to talk to us about. Is SEO right for your business? Believing that every business needs an SEO strategy is one of the reasons many business owners have a bad experience with SEO. It all comes down to your customer acquisition strategies, sales cycle, and whether your customers are looking for your solution on Google. Farzad Rashidi is here today to help you figure out if SEO is right for your business and, if so, how to choose the right person for the job. He also reveals the one thing that can make your SEO strategy succeed or fail: Backlinks. Page rank was basically created as a popularity contest, meaning that the vote of popularity goes to you if other credible websites in your space are talking about you. In this episode of Enterprise Sales Development podcast, we speak with Farzad Rashidi, Lead Innovator at Respona. Farzad draws from his expertise in link building outreach to discuss his approach. He discusses the differences in building an outreach for backlinks and which tactics to use. He also shares key messaging strategies and explains the middleman approach. WHAT YOU'LL LEARN How Respona was born as a separate product of Visme How Visme went from crickets to 3 millions in monthly organic visitors What is on-page SEO How Farzad builds an ideal backlink profile using CIENCE as an example Why their main metric for outreach is relevancy How Respona determines who to contact for backlinks and how Farzad thinks about targeting The middleman approach QUOTES “When you face a lot of rejections as a salesperson, you come in and you're like ‘Oh, this is nothing,' but as a marketer, when things aren't working, it's a little more difficult to deal with.” -Farzad Rashidi [09:25] “As far as our outreach goes, what we really care about is relevancy.” -Farzad Rashidi [16:37] “I always say this and I say this to our customers and during our training sessions. I'm like, ‘Guys, SDR is not a game of shooting for the stars. You got to stay within your league.” -Farzad Rashidi [18:18] “Google is an ever-evolving algorithm, and there are ways that you can trick it. It is an algorithm, but what matters when you're building a business on top of that domain, what you want to look at is ok, what about five years from now? What about 10 years from now?” -Farzad Rashidi [25:18] “It's a common misconception that for your key terms and for your actual pages that you want to get rankings, get some business value from, you're not going to need a thousand of these and types of relationships to make it work. A handful of them goes a long way just simply because of how difficult it is to do and that's enough to make you stand out.” -Farzad Rashidi [39:16] TIMESTAMPS [00:01] Intro [00:27] This week's guest: Farzad Rashidi [01:23] His journey to Visme and Respona [04:45] Google in incognito mode [06:01] How to increase monthly visitors [10:58] Start with an ideal backlink profile [15:49] Determining the net value [20:32] More requests for backlinks [24:09] Other backlink tactics [28:16] Who to reach out to [34:13] What to say in messaging [39:47] The middleman approach [46:05] How to contact Farzad RESOURCES Visme HubSpot PageRank Link Building for SaaS: 2022 Guide Respona Outreach Strategy Hub CONNECT Farzad Rashidi on LinkedIn Respona website CIENCE website CIENCE on LinkedIn CIENCE on Facebook CIENCE on Twitter CIENCE on Instagram
