From the archives: When Evangelion 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time finally made its way overseas into theaters, Patrick, Kevin, and a frequent guest of the show, Jezer Serafica, visited their local cinema to catch the conclusion of one of their favorite series, Neon Genesis Evangelion. Recorded a little over a year ago, we decided to make it extra special by capturing a field recording of our experience before and after the screening (please forgive the audio quality at times). To skip to our review, it starts midway into Jezer's initial thoughts at 24:24. If you would like us to go back and record reviews on the previous Rebuild movies, please let us know, otherwise we will leave this one as a standalone episode. We encourage you to share your own thoughts on the series and movies with us as well, and you can do so through email or on our Instagram page: lefilmpodcast@gmail.com // @lefilmpodcast This was a wonderful experience for the three of us, and we hope you enjoy listening in as well. Where to stream the Evangelion Rebuild movies: Prime Video If you enjoyed the Rebuild movies, we recommend seeking out the documentary (two episodes) on the making of the Rebuild movies, entitled Hideaki Anno: The Final Challenge of Evangelion.

This week Dan is back in Baltimore and it (just) happened to coincide with the theatrical release of the final installment of the Evangelion Rebuild movie series..it actually didn't he flew back early just for this. We had planned on doing a full series dive into the Rebuild movies as a whole (but) as we found out that was not going to happen at 8pm on a Sunday night after a full 2.5 hour movie and dinner. So here are our (first) impressions of the Thrice Upon a Time and a little bit of our burning Rebuild questions which Dan is (not) an expert in. And look forward to a full dive into all the movies in a future episode! *SPOILER WARNING* See what we (did) there... https://linktr.ee/otakuhostclub --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

The train don't stop! This is our coverage of part 3 of 5 of the latest Evangelion Rebuild film! Things are really heating up, how will this whirlwind adventure come to an end! Stick around to find out! And as always, if you have any comments, questions, or concerns send them to fullimpactpodcast@gmail.com, and if you don't mind maybe leave us a review!
James and will continue reading Shunju Aono's slice of life manga, reflecting on their own attitudes around women and their fathers. At the end of the episode, they review the conclusion to the Evangelion Rebuild movies ‘Evangelion 3.0 +1.0: Thrice Upon a Time'. Beware of spoilers and sensitive subject matter! Skip the manga's plot synopsis @ 5:53 Email: WeAppreciateManga@Gmail.com 080: I'll Give It My All… Tomorrow vol. 2 Chapters: 5 to 10 ‘Miracle' and ‘Master' with Bonus Chapters ‘Back Then' parts 1 and 2 By Shunju Aono Translation by Akemi Wegmuller Lettering by Steven Rhyse 42-year-old Shizuo Oguro surmises that to become a successful manga he must make a cry from the heart; or as the French say a ‘Cri De Coeur' and less of materialistic desire in his work. A manga that only he could draw. So, he makes an autobiography. And he gets rejected. He is also rejected again, when he makes a pass at a female editor. Shizuo makes himself feel better by drinking with his long-time friend Miyata, but Miyata will not let Shizuo stay at his place following a disagreement with his father, deeming it inappropriate for two middle aged friends living together. Instead, the 26-year-old Shuichi Ichinosawa is the one who tolerates Shizuo as a house buddy. Meanwhile, Ichinosawa dyes his hair, possibly due to peer pressure from his workplace peers. He witnesses one of his work colleagues bully the new guy, he punches the bully in the face then loses his job and speaks to Shizuo's dad who tells him that to fail is normal, and it is what everyone does. Because at the age of 45, Shizuo's dad set up an Izakaya and seemingly he was able to only make ends meet with it until it went bust after 20 years. Throughout these years Shizuo's dad would have been a widow, Shizuo was only 15 when she, Sakiko Oguro passed. Later that night, the mention of Shizuo's mother is enough to make him return home to his dad. In the bonus chapters, we see that Ichinosawa is paid a visit by his sister Yukako and we learn that the two of them have lost a father to suicide as teenagers. Topics: Things we liked (kicked out of home humour) Things we did not like (Hard to tell who is speaking due to the layout of speech bubbles) Real Talk (Women rejecting creepy men and father troubles) Shizuo's list of shirts as they appear in order of this volume: Homerun, Curse, Hawaii, Hijiki (edible seaweed), Rejected, Oguro Productions, 4649, 42, Ekke (possibly slang for daydreamer), Paris, Zico (Brazillian football coach), Pele (Brazillian footballer) Other references: Izakaya, a bar or tavern. Most common are the types where a red lantern is outside. Yakitori Shiro, Yakitori is grilled chicken, the “Shiro”, could stand for Shizuo's dad's name, as the food Shiro is really Ethiopian cuisine and not traditionally Japanese. All stories no matter the medium have patterns set within them. Joseph Campbell's 1949 book, The Hero With A Thousand Faces, showcased just how universal storytelling is. In fact, the entire Star Wars saga is based, in part, on the teachings of that book. So what does that all entail? Well, mostly, the book detailed a sort of structure that had been apparent in storytelling for centuries, one often referred to as the Hero's Journey. The Hero's Journey is an extremely useful tool in realizing what can work within a given story. With that all said, the hero's journey doesn't work without a hero. Well what makes a hero? Or better yet, what makes a protagonist? And even better yet, what makes a compelling VIDEO GAME protagonist? On top of that, the boys discuss some more wrestling, a couple of movies including my descent into the Evangelion Rebuild movies. Evangelion Rebuild 2.0: You Can (Not) Advance is the most popular peice of Evangelion-related media according to several polls. But Ian and Joseph cannot stan... So Ian brought Eric Thurm, podcaster at Fanbyte and author of 'Avidly Reads Board Games' to defend it from Joseph's ultimate rejection-type assault. Will Eric's critical acument protect him when his A.T. Field fails? Will Joseph assimilate him and begin the climax too darn early? Will Ian find his plot line replaced by a new character nobody wants? We can't say. The only promise is: More fan service than anyone can handle. Analysis - 7:20 Eric is a lapsed TV and animation critic whose work can be found in, among other places, The New York Times, Vulture, and FanByte. He is also the author of Avidly Reads: Board Games and a member of the National Writers Union's Freelance Solidarity Project. Wow surprise the boys are talking Evangelion again! Okay it's a bit different this time - we're talking about the Evangelion Rebuild movies, specifically the 1.0 and 2.0 movies. How do we feel? How does it compare to the CLASSIC tv show?? Also it's sunny out so Shanda talks about getting frisky wine drunk and Mike talks through his neurotic tattoo care routine.
