A nakolik s ním souvisí Gončarovův Oblomov? Ptá se Karolína Koubová.
In our new episode we have a talk with Nito Souji. He's a solo indie game dev from Japan and describes himself as a shut-in aka Hikikomori for 10 years working on a shut-in themed beat'em'up Pull Stay. Listen to some interesting insights! Enjoy! The interview starts at minute 1:35:00

How do you help people who isolate themselves? "Hikikomori" is a worldwide phenomena--where young men (usually ages 18 to 25) isolate themselves. They tend to talk to no one and not have jobs. In Japan, there are 1,200,000 people like this, and there are many in other nations, including the U.S. These people don't have goals and they don't have relationships. Can they be helped? It takes a lot of work, but popular Catholic Bishop Fulton Sheen, and professional terrorist, and kidnapper-negotiator, Chris Voss, appear to have found a way. If someone you love is in this situation, and you'd like to help, but you don't know how, this might be an answer. For more information, look into:* The William George Agency for Children's Services;* EverGreen Meadow Academy;* Boys Republic;* The Menniger Clinic;* Yellowbrick;* and Exposure =Therapy.Note: I'm not endorsing any of the above. I'm just saying that it's worth looking into.(I recorded this episode on March 8, 2025.)

Music is powerful—an unseen force that moves the soul, ignites rebellion, and, at times, veers into the abyss. In this episode, we explore the shadowy underbelly of sound, where music ceases to be mere entertainment and transforms into something far more sinister. From the eerie legends of cursed compositions to the dangerous ideologies woven into extreme genres, we peel back the layers of the dark side of music. We take a deep dive into the origins of black metal, a genre soaked in mystery, controversy, and chaos. What began as raw sonic rebellion soon spiraled into church burnings, occult rituals, and real-life violence. But was it all performance art gone too far, or something deeper—something truly otherworldly?Special guest Aiden England from metal band Circle 9, comes on the show to discuss what he knows in the dark world of music. We also share some of the band's songs in the episode! Circle 9 is a metal band originating from Blacksburg, Virginia, formed by Aiden England and Austin Spencer. Their music blends industrial rock and progressive metal, delving into themes that explore the relationships between humanity, machinery, and the ethereal. In 2021, they released singles "Hikikomori" and "Last Mile," leading up to their debut EP, A Beetle on Its Back, which was released on April 5, 2024.https://open.spotify.com/artist/1Fqt99oirCx7dqZVOxCVD8CRYPTIC HOTLINE: (615) 447-8258Give us a call and leave a voicemail!EMAIL: itscrypticoutthere@gmail.comSOCIAL MEDIA: Facebook, XListen to the show on Spotify and Apple PodcastsDONATE TO OUR FRIEND WHO HAS CANCERhttps://www.gofundme.com/f/stand-with-jacob-against-cancer?attribution_id=sl:6eedf4b1-e8eb-466b-a440-5397b4f6f094&lang=en_US&utm_campaign=man_sharesheet_dash&utm_content=amp13_t1&utm_medium=customer&utm_source=facebook
Was steht da über dich drin?

--- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/a-micia-dura/message

Based on extensive original research including interview research with a range of practitioners involved in dealing with the phenomenon, the book outlines how hikikomori expresses itself, how it is treated and dealt with and how it has been perceived and regarded in Japan over time. The author, a clinical psychologist with extensive experience of practice, argues that the phenomenon although socially unacceptable is not homogenous, and can be viewed not as a mental disorder, but as an idiom of distress, a passive and effective way of resisting the many great pressures of Japanese schooling and of Japanese society more widely.Support the podcast:Linktree: https://linktr.ee/acidhorizonAcid Horizon on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/acidhorizonpodcastZer0 Books and Repeater Media Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/zer0repeaterMerch: http://www.crit-drip.comOrder 'Anti-Oculus: A Philosophy of Escape': https://repeaterbooks.com/product/anti-oculus-a-philosophy-of-escape/Order 'The Philosopher's Tarot': https://repeaterbooks.com/product/the-philosophers-tarot/Subscribe to us on Apple Podcasts: https://tinyurl.com/169wvvhiHappy Hour at Hippel's (Adam's blog): https://happyhourathippels.wordpress.comRevolting Bodies (Will's Blog): https://revoltingbodies.comSplit Infinities (Craig's Substack): https://splitinfinities.substack.com/Music: https://sereptie.bandcamp.com/ and https://thecominginsurrection.bandcamp.com/Support the showSupport the podcast:Linktree: https://linktr.ee/acidhorizonAcid Horizon on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/acidhorizonpodcastZer0 Books and Repeater Media Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/zer0repeaterMerch: http://www.crit-drip.comOrder 'Anti-Oculus: A Philosophy of Escape': https://repeaterbooks.com/product/anti-oculus-a-philosophy-of-escape/Order 'The Philosopher's Tarot': https://repeaterbooks.com/product/the-philosophers-tarot/Subscribe to us on Apple Podcasts: https://tinyurl.com/169wvvhiHappy Hour at Hippel's (Adam's blog): https://happyhourathippels.wordpress.comRevolting Bodies (Will's Blog): https://revoltingbodies.comSplit Infinities (Craig's Substack): https://splitinfinities.substack.com/Music: https://sereptie.bandcamp.com/ and https://thecominginsurrection.bandcamp.com/
- Hiki…¿qué? - Hikikomori. Escucha el episodio y lo entenderás… ¡Hola!
Hikikomori is an extreme form of social isolation first recognized in Japan in the 1990s. It’s distinct from similar conditions like anxiety or agoraphobia and is characterized by sustained physical isolation, often at home. The condition is still gaining traction in mental health spaces, but a research team led by Oregon Health & Science University has developed a new evaluation tool to help providers diagnose hikikomori. Alan Teo, associate professor of psychiatry at OHSU, joins us with more details on the first-of-its-kind tool, and how the pandemic exacerbated conditions related to social isolation.

Have you ever spent a whole weekend just relaxing and doing nothing? Just playing games or binging shows? It's a nice break, right? But what if you did that for months or even years? Today, I've got a story that might shock you. Think about someone who stays in their room all day and night, not seeing friends or family, not working or studying. Odd, right? Well, there's a Japanese word for this -"Hikikomori," which means "being confined." It's about people who choose to stay away from society completely. This is common in Japan, but other cultures have similar ideas. People call them loners or "modern-day hermits." Around half a million young people in Japan, and about the same number of middle-aged people, live like this. It's not just in Japan. Often, young people, especially guys, are really into the online world of games and social media. However, they are not afraid of going outside like people with agoraphobia. They simply prefer not to be involved in the world. You might wonder why. I did too. Some people believe that pressure from society to do well can lead to this. Others have experienced difficult situations, such as bullying or family problems. Also, technology allows them to easily stay alone, as everything is accessible online. Let's continue! Now, think about their health. Being inside constantly isn't healthy. They might get weak or face sleep problems. Emotionally, they might feel down, unsure, or guilty. In any case, many don't see this as a big problem, since these people don't often seek help. They're content in their isolation. But there are ways to help. In Japan, there are online communities for them. When they're ready for help, they get therapy, medication, and social activities. Even taking a short step outside can significantly impact you if you feel confined. The sun and fresh air can be invigorating. Great! That's all for now! I hope you found this topic helpful. Let's continue with a Point of View Lesson. To get the transcript visit: SpeakEnglishPodcast.com/podcast

There seems to be a new spirit of the times, reaching from the U.S. to China and Japan, and possibly elsewhere. In China, it is known as "lying flat," in Japan, "Hikikomori," and in the United States, quiet quitting, loud quitting, the great resignation, and even goblin mode are all candidates do describe the behavior identified in an increasing number of young adults. Gen Z may even have their own trend in keeping with the spirit of the times that is still undefined. What is causing this type of movement to take hold all over the world?
