On this episode of The Alabaster Jar, Dr. Lynn Cohick is joined by Dr. Carol M. Kaminski as she shares insights from her work on the books of 1 & 2 Chronicles and how the stories of the kings point to qualities like prayer, humility, and trusting God. Specific passages on King Jehoshaphat and King Manasseh are examined to show themes of repentance, forgiveness, and God's faithfulness. This conversation helps listeners understand how narratives in the Old Testament can shape our understanding of spiritual formation.Key Takeaways:The book of Chronicles can help cultivate godliness through its focus on qualities like prayer, humility, and seeking God's face in difficult times. Stories of kings like Jehoshaphat and their dependence on God in the face of overwhelming challenges provide examples of trusting in God. Passages like 2 Chronicles 7:14 and 30 emphasize themes of repentance, reconciliation, and forgiveness in relation to God's people. Even the most sinful kings, like Manasseh, could find restoration through repentance, showing God's great mercy and compassion. Understanding the biblical narrative, including shifts between covenants, helps interpret themes of victory, persecution, and God's faithfulness. My guest on the show today, Dr. Christopher Yuan, is a man I first heard about from my spiritual father a couple of years ago, who shared a video of Dr. Yuan giving a testimony of his remarkable redemption story with his Mom. It was truly incredible. But today, we're not going to spend as much time talking about Dr. Yuan's testimony, but more importantly, we're going to talk to him about his latest book, Holy Sexuality and the Gospel, and learn how we (as men) can understand same sex attraction better, and as fathers, how to  biblically love and minister to those (maybe our own children) who have same sex attraction. Dr. Christopher Yuan is a graduate of Moody Bible Institute, and he holds a Doctorate of Ministry Degree and a Masters Degree in biblical exegesis. And Dr. Yuan has taught as a professor at Moody Bible Institute; and he also co-authored his first book with his mother: entitled, Out of a Far Country: A Gay Son's Journey to God, a Broken Mother's Search for Hope – which has sold over 100,000 copies and is now in eight languages. The Todd Herman Show
Satan's “Christian” churches - from mainstream Christian churches that refuse to teach Biblical truths because they can hurt feelings to “churches” created by the Sexual Left with the sole purpose of being for same sex attracted people and people

THE THESIS: In mainstream Christianity, far too many pastors have abandoned the Bible when the Bible doesn't match the world. Christian leaders must stop that practice. But, the Sexual Left has taken a far more devious and clever approach: they are setting up so-called “Christian” churches that worship sin, not God. And, these churches will appeal to young people unless we bet far better at talking about God's love for all and why love and agreement with sinful behaviors are not the same thing. THE SCRIPTURE & SCRIPTURAL RESOURCES:  Holy Sexuality and the Gospel: Sex, Desire, and Relationships Shaped by God's Grand Story Out of a Far Country: A Gay Son's Journey to God. A Broken Mother's Search for Hope. THE NEWS & COMMENT: "The 'not yet' is the Christian message that we must embody in critical and creative ways to steward a narrative that calls us into being human with one another again." (“Dr.” Robyn Henderson-Espinoza) Here is how they utterly twist the Holy Bible -- I confront all of these lies in the Podcast LGBTQ+ Theology 101  "What Does the Bible Say About LGBTQ+ People? "Conversations around what the Bible says about LGBTQ+ people can be contentious. Due to the dense nature of this content, you may want to consider studying the additional resources listed under “How can I learn more about the 'Clobber Verses' and LGBTQ+ theology?'. Consider this an introductory overview to these passages, as shared by QCF Board member, Rev. Danny Cortez: Genesis 1 "Genesis 1 (along with other passages that reference this chapter) is often used to argue against nonbinary and transgender identities. It's often stated that since God created man and woman, there can be no other gender categories than male and female. However, as Kathy Baldock wisely stated, 'God created man, woman and intersex.' We see through science and creation that there is biological gender variation in creation. People's biology isn't as binary as we are led to believe, and Scripture speaks of eunuchs, people who lived as neither male nor female. What we can also see in the creation story is that, while God created day and night, that doesn't mean there is nothing in between. Dawn and dusk are expressions of creation that don't fall neatly into the categories of day and night. So when Genesis tells us that God created man and woman, it doesn't mean that we are limited to the two. In this world, there are nonbinary, genderfluid, transgender, and other multi-faceted expressions of the non-gendered image of God within creation. Genesis 2 "Genesis 2 tells the marriage story of Adam and Eve. However, the word “marriage” isn't used. Instead, 'one flesh' is used to describe their covenant relationship. “That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh” (Genesis 2:24). The “one flesh” reference to marriage is repeated twice in the New Testament, first by Jesus when he condemned the practice of men divorcing their wives (Matthew 19:4-6), and also in Ephesians, when Paul talks about marriage: “For we are members of his body. ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.' This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church” (Ephesians 5:30-31)." In Ephesians, Paul expands the definition of marriage. He uses the language of marriage, the coming together of 'one flesh,' to describe Christ's marriage to the church. Here, Paul no longer limits marriage as something that happens between one man and one woman, but between Christ and the church. We find that marriage is not based on gender, but rather on covenant. Gender difference is therefore not a requirement of marriage. It's not just the Sexual Left, it's governments.  The Maine Dept of Education has resources for teachers on their website. This resource is for kindergartners and it discusses the LGBT acronym. For trans, the teacher explains that doctors decide a baby's gender and are sometimes wrong. The official Maine DOE is promoting this.   See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.”   Ephesians 2:8–10 “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast. Homosexuality And Gender It is hard to imagine a more polarizing and personal point of contact between the church and today's culture than the issue of gender and homosexuality. We all have gay friends, some are family members, and we really like them. There is absolutely no  pleasure found in disagreeing with a friend or family member on such a personal issue.  It would be so much easier just to roll with the mainline churches, or the secular culture and call every behaviour or choice sacred, without exception. There are so many other areas we can agree with culture; that racism is evil, that wealth should be fairly distributed, that the marginalized should be protected.... why would a Christian need to think differently about this? In today's message we ask ourselves that question, and look to scripture for the answer. Resources: The Secret Thoughts of an Unlikely Convert Out of a Far Country: A Gay Son's Journey to God. Dr. Yuan’s parents were Chinese expatriates who escaped the cultural revolution by fleeing to Taiwan, and later came to America for higher education. They lived out the American Dream, achieving financial success and providing a bright future for their children despite having arrived in the US with nothing. But this dream turned into a nightmare for Christopher, who grew up with no religious influence in his life, was ostracized from other boys for being different, and began to feel same-sex attractions after being exposed to pornography at a young age. Dr. Yuan tells Kevin about his incredible testimony, which took both him and his mother to rock bottom before God brought them into the light. In her darkest hour, Christopher’s mother heard God’s voice in the form of a small pamphlet. Soon Christopher’s father and brother came to know the Lord as well, and after many years of faithful prayer and fasting, so did Christopher himself. Dr. Yuan’s story goes to show that God’s grace can redeem anyone, even a despairing mother who is contemplating suicide and a prodigal son running as hard as he can in the opposite direction. Dr. Yuan and his mother co-authored a book about their experiences, called Out of a Far Country: A Gay Son’s Journey to God. A Broken Mother’s Search for Hope.
