Geopolitical tensions, inflation shocks, and shifting market regimes are reshaping the investment landscape. Marat Molyboga and Katy Kaminski joins us to explore why managed futures have historically performed well during periods of geopolitical stress and why investors often misunderstand the role of crisis alpha in a portfolio. The conversation examines inflation driven market disruptions, diversification, short term versus long term trend following, portfolio construction, and the behavioural mistakes that prevent many investors from capturing the full benefits of trend strategies. It is a wide ranging discussion about risk, uncertainty, and adapting to a changing world.-----50 YEARS OF TREND FOLLOWING BOOK AND BEHIND-THE-SCENES VIDEO FOR ACCREDITED INVESTORS - CLICK HERE-----Follow Niels on Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube or via the TTU website.IT's TRUE ? – most CIO's read 50+ books each year – get your FREE copy of the Ultimate Guide to the Best Investment Books ever written here. And you can get a free copy of my latest book “Ten Reasons to Add Trend Following to Your Portfolio” here.Learn more about the Trend Barometer here.Send your questions to info@toptradersunplugged.comAnd please share this episode with a like-minded friend and leave an honest Rating & Review on iTunes or Spotify so more people can discover the podcast.Follow Katy on LinkedIn.Episode TimeStamps:00:00 - Introduction and welcome to the Systematic Investor series01:13 - Marat Molyboga's background and Efficient Capital's investment philosophy05:29 - World Cup excitement, soccer stories, and thoughts beyond markets11:36 - AI, market concentration, energy trends, and major macro headlines15:16 - Trend following performance review and key market drivers in 202623:36 - Understanding crisis alpha and the role of managed futures in portfolios33:24 - Diversification, portfolio construction, and avoiding investor mistakes44:08 - Geopolitical risk research and its connection to inflation53:01 - Why managed futures have historically benefited from geopolitical uncertainty59:01 - Commodities, inflation shocks, and the mechanics behind crisis alpha01:06:47 - The case for short term trend following and execution challenges01:20:31 - Final thoughts and lessons for navigating an uncertain investment landscapeCopyright © 2025 – CMC AG – All Rights Reserved----PLUS: Whenever you're ready... here are 3 ways I can help you in your investment Journey:1. eBooks that cover key topics that you need to know about In my eBooks, I put together some key discoveries and things I have learnt during the more than 3 decades I have worked in the Trend Following industry, which I hope you will find useful. Most organizations think they're doing AI. They've bought the licenses, rolled out the tools, and told the team to start using Copilot. But adding AI on top of a 40-year-old process isn't transformation. It's decoration. Andre Kaminski, Director of Advanced Technology Solutions at WorkSafeBC and author of "The AI-Native Software Development Lifecycle," joins Peter and Dave to talk about what it actually means to rebuild your delivery process around AI, not just bolt it on. They get into why optimizing code generation alone is the wrong focus, what the six phases of an AI-native SDLC look like in practice, and why the biggest challenge isn't the technology at all. It's the identity shift that comes with it. If your organization is asking "which AI tool should we use?" this episode will help you realize that's probably the wrong question. In this episode:Why AI-augmented and AI-native are very different thingsThe compounding learning effect and why early adopters are pulling further ahead every monthWhat prompt architecture actually means and why it matters more than codeHow to think about governance when prompts become your new source of truth Want to keep the conversation going?
Markets rarely offer clarity when it matters most. In this episode, together with Katy Kaminski and Harry Moore, we reflect on a first quarter defined by sharp reversals, energy shocks, and rising dispersion across strategies. They explain how trend following adapted as leadership flipped across asset classes, and why results varied more than many expected. The conversation moves beyond performance to examine portfolio construction, from market selection and speed to the growing relevance of portable alpha. Along the way, they revisit periods of drawdown, investor behavior, and the role of liquidity in crisis environments, offering a grounded perspective on how systematic strategies respond when conditions change quickly.-----50 YEARS OF TREND FOLLOWING BOOK AND BEHIND-THE-SCENES VIDEO FOR ACCREDITED INVESTORS - CLICK HERE-----Follow Niels on Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube or via the TTU website.IT's TRUE ? – most CIO's read 50+ books each year – get your FREE copy of the Ultimate Guide to the Best Investment Books ever written here. And you can get a free copy of my latest book “Ten Reasons to Add Trend Following to Your Portfolio” here.Learn more about the Trend Barometer here.Send your questions to info@toptradersunplugged.comAnd please share this episode with a like-minded friend and leave an honest Rating & Review on iTunes or Spotify so more people can discover the podcast.Follow Katy on LinkedIn.Follow Harry on LinkedIn.Episode TimeStamps:00:00 - Introduction and episode framing01:38 - Market backdrop and Q1 volatility07:29 - Trend following performance through Q109:36 - Diversification vs equities and bonds11:21 - Dispersion across managers explained14:32 - Trend vs non trend strategies18:40 - A month that tested every component of trend21:17 - Optimal market mix and research insights30:00 - Macro factors and what trend captures35:57 - Portable alpha and cash efficiency42:23 - Risks in portable alpha construction49:04 - Drawdowns and investor behavior53:37 - Why trend recovers after shocks01:00:51 - Measuring alpha in macro strategies01:06:51 - Geopolitics and future opportunitiesCopyright © 2025 – CMC AG – All Rights Reserved----PLUS: Whenever you're ready... here are 3 ways I can help you in your investment Journey:1. eBooks that cover key topics that you need to know about In my eBooks, I put together some key discoveries and things I have learnt during the more than 3 decades I have worked in the Trend Following industry, which I hope you will find useful. #współpracakomercyjna #klient Czy można jednocześnie zachwycać i irytować? Ralph Kaminski. Dlaczego odrzucił propozycję od Edwarda Miszczaka? I to taką, której wielu by nie przepuściło? What do you do when the thing you built suddenly stops working and you still need to pay the bills? We talk with Sarah Kaminsky, founder of Best Ever Granola, about turning a pandemic pivot into a fast-growing food brand that's now stocked by more than 100 retailers across 10 states.Sarah breaks down what makes her small batch granola different in a crowded aisle: gluten-free and vegan recipes with intentionally low sugar, sweetened only with pure Pennsylvania maple syrup from Paul Family Farms. We get into why ingredient sourcing is a non-negotiable and how local partnerships shape great flavor and necessary connection. aThen Ken from Point State Fork names the buffalo chicken fix she takes out-of-towners to every time: Spak Brothers Buffalo Chicken Pizza in Garfield.

They explore private family foundations, showing how everyday investors can use these tools to create tax savings while contributing to charitable causes.Dan explains how billionaires leverage this strategy to build generational wealth, focusing on preserving and passing down assets while gaining tax advantages. He highlights the key features of establishing a private family foundation and how it can serve as a wealth-building tool beyond traditional investment channels. They also discuss how the strategy compares with other options, such as donor-advised funds (DAFs), and why it's a game-changer for high-net-worth individuals.Top three things you will learn:-How private family foundations can be used to build and protect generational wealth-The benefits of using a private family foundation compared to donor-advised funds-Practical steps to set up and leverage a private family foundation for tax savingsAbout Our Guest:Dan Kaminski established Foundation Launch in 2023 to answer his own question: "How do I start and manage a foundation without being a billionaire?" As the organization's name implies, Dan's sole focus is on establishing and managing private foundations, widely regarded as the gold standard of charitable vehicles.Dan believes that with a foundation, you can increase your impact and define your legacy in a tax-deductible way. By investing the foundation assets, you can grow the endowment in a tax-exempt environment and eventually give far more than you could have personally. Control of your foundation and its assets can be passed down to future generations, perpetuating your values and continuing your charitable work, far beyond your lifetime.Disclaimer: The opinions expressed on this podcast are solely those of the hosts and guests and do not constitute financial advice. In this episode, I sit down with Dave Kaminski, founder and owner of Roaming Restrooms, to talk about what it really takes to build a business from the ground up — and why success almost never looks the way you expect it to when you're starting out.Dave shares how Roaming Restrooms began as an idea and evolved into a full-scale business focused on solving a very real problem: the lack of clean, upscale, on-site restroom options for weddings, festivals, and large events. We talk about identifying a niche, building something that goes far beyond a side hustle, and staying committed to a long-term vision even when the path forward isn't clear. This conversation dives into the realities of entrepreneurship — the learning curve, the financial and mental pressure, the wins, the setbacks, and the patience required to keep moving forward. Dave breaks down what it's like to build a service-based business, create systems as you go, and remain mission-driven while navigating the ups and downs that come with ownership.Topics covered include entrepreneurship, small business growth, startup mindset, scaling a service business, identifying market needs, and playing the long game as a business owner. If you're thinking about starting a business, growing beyond a side hustle, or just want an honest look at what entrepreneurship actually looks like day to day, this episode offers real insight from someone living it. https://www.roamingrestrooms.com
What if not belonging isn't a flaw—but a form of freedom? In this episode of Psyche, I sit down with psychiatrist and author Dr. Rami Kaminski to explore his powerful book, The Gift of Not Belonging: How Outsiders Thrive in a World of Joiners. Together, we unpack his concept of otrovertness—a way of being in the world where a person may appear gentle, kind, and socially capable on the outside, yet internally refuses to surrender their identity to groupthink, ideology, or social pressure.Dr. Kaminski describes the otrovert as a kind of meek rebel: someone who doesn't need to be loud, defiant, or disruptive in order to be free. Instead, their rebellion is inward—rooted in the radical act of thinking for themselves, feeling for themselves, and refusing to let the crowd define who they are.We talk about how modern culture confuses belonging with safety, how early socialization trains us to trade authenticity for acceptance, and why so many sensitive, neurodivergent, and deeply thoughtful people grow up feeling like outsiders—even when they seem to “fit in” just fine. This conversation also explores:Why connection is not the same as belongingHow otrovertness relates to autonomy, attachment, and inner freedomWhy obedience often gets mistaken for goodnessAnd how living outside the emotional herd can actually lead to a calmer, more meaningful lifeIf you've ever felt like you were never meant to live according to someone else's script—this episode will speak directly to you.

Born just two days apart from Linda in the same hospital, Brian and Linda were lifelong companions, eventually marrying in their early twenties. Before founding L’BRI, Brian worked in a foundry while supporting Linda’s early success in direct sales and learning the business behind the scenes. A pivotal moment in their journey came when Brian suffered serious burns from a molten metal accident. Conventional medical treatments were slow to heal his skin. Linda applied pure aloe vera gel topically, and his recovery improved markedly. That experience inspired the Kaminski’s to center their new company around aloe’s regenerative and soothing properties. Under Brian’s leadership on the financial and operations side, L’BRI has remained a privately held, debt-free business emphasizing transparency, consultant support, and product purity. The company uses a formulation approach called “Aloe-First,” where aloe vera is the predominant active base instead of water — a differentiator the Kaminski’s continue to champion. Over nearly three decades, Brian has helped steer L’BRI’s growth, maintain fiscal discipline, and ensure the business remains focused on empowering consultants and delivering trusted skincare. What happens when the data goes dark, yet markets barely flinch? In this episode, Niels and Katy unpack the month of October defined by missing economic releases, relentless equity strength and three extraordinary days of Liberation Day turbulence. They explore why price often tells the truest story, how total portfolio thinking could rewrite the role of trend, and why short term strategies faltered while precious metals surged. The conversation then shifts to the coming wave of alternatives in private wealth and the silent risk inside target date funds, asking how managed futures can reshape retirement outcomes when timing paths go wrong.-----50 YEARS OF TREND FOLLOWING BOOK AND BEHIND-THE-SCENES VIDEO FOR ACCREDITED INVESTORS - CLICK HERE-----Follow Niels on Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube or via the TTU website.IT's TRUE ? – most CIO's read 50+ books each year – get your FREE copy of the Ultimate Guide to the Best Investment Books ever written here. And you can get a free copy of my latest book “Ten Reasons to Add Trend Following to Your Portfolio” here.Learn more about the Trend Barometer here.Send your questions to info@toptradersunplugged.comAnd please share this episode with a like-minded friend and leave an honest Rating & Review on iTunes or Spotify so more people can discover the podcast.Follow Katy on LinkedIn.Episode TimeStamps:00:00 - Introduction and catching up from Boston02:00 - Life without economic data and what markets really need04:20 - Price as the only truth and the limits of official data05:45 - CalPERS, total portfolio thinking and what it means for trend08:20 - AI, data centers and the inflation story hiding in electricity10:30 - Inflation regimes, unstable prices and why trend cares about change12:40 - Year to date trend review across equities, metals, FX and bonds15:10 - Why short term traders struggled in a headline driven year20:00 - Picking “the best strategy” and why robustness matters more than Sharpe24:10 - Parameters, speed of response and treating markets differently26:20

Anthony Pierri and Rob Kaminski are the co-founders of Fletch, a positioning strategy firm for B2B SaaS companies. They started Fletch after observing that most founders often confuse positioning with copywriting and marketing, and built their business by helping SaaS leaders make the tough, strategic choices about who they serve and how they win. Over the last three years, Anthony and Rob have collaborated with over 400 SaaS companies, ranging from early-stage startups to rapidly growing companies. Fletch helps founders and B2B SaaS leaders clarify their positioning, sharpen their messaging, and translate strategy into effective homepage design. In our practical discussion, they help founders see that positioning is a business strategy, not copywriting, which forces clarity and tradeoffs to improve execution. They share why founders must (eventually) choose one clear path to scale efficiently and why bootstrapped SaaS leaders often make sharper bets than VC-backed peers. Key Takeaways Positioning = Strategy: Positioning is a founder/CEO choice, not copywriting or branding. Almost Universal Problem: Most B2B SaaS founders struggle with positioning clarity. Anchors Drive Focus: Use category, use case, or alternative as clear positioning anchors. Bootstrappers Move Faster: Limited capital forces clarity that VC-backed companies delay. Execution Takes Time: Positioning decisions are quick, but discipline drives results. Homepage Test: Your homepage clearly reveals whether positioning is working or not. This Interview Is Perfect For SaaS founders stuck at $1M–$10M ARR growth plateaus Bootstrapped operators needing sharper messaging to scale Founders unclear about marketing vs positioning strategy B2B SaaS CEOs rethinking go-to-market focus Quote from Dave Yuan, founder of Tidemark Capital “There is a difference between bootstrappers and VC-funded startup founders in successfully positioning their startups. Bootstrappers are willing to see a narrow opportunity and tackle it with focus, because almost every market is big enough to sustain a $10 million company. “I don't care how narrow you get, the world's a big place. So even with a hyper-focused, verticalized niche, or use case play, there's plenty of money if you do it well and that's very appealing to bootstrappers. “Most VC-funded founders don't focus as well, which creates problems. But the founders who truly understand positioning and the idea that it can evolve over time, whether they're venture backed or not, they start with a very narrow practice to start and succeed as a leader. “ Links Anthony Pierri on LinkedIn Rob Kaminski on LinkedIn Fletch Website Podcast Sponsor – Cypress Growth Capital This podcast is sponsored by Cypress Growth Capital, an alternative to equity, royalty-based growth capital provides funding in exchange for a fixed percentage of your company's future monthly revenues. Using fresh research from Man Group and Quantica, she and Niels trace the fingerprints of design choices: the pace of signals, how portfolios tilt, whether to add carry, and the impact of alternative markets. Along the way they connect these differences to today's landscape, from the Fed's looming decision to Europe's bond jitters, from gas and power's outsized role in recent Alternative CTA returns to the risks of crowding. Kaminski's entry into comics was inspired by classic series and publications, shaping his understanding of the comic creation process at an early age. The Superman editorial philosophy combines elements from various iconic eras, emphasizing a vision inspired by the 90s Animated Series and Fleischer cartoons. A unified visual style for the Super Family has been implemented, with distinct designs to maintain Superman's uniqueness within the group. Current Superman publishing strategy includes three core titles, each catering to different narratives, with significant arcs like Action #1100 planned for fall 2026. The Legion of Darkseid storyline is a pivotal upcoming focus across Superman issues, essential for the future of DC Comics. Kaminski champions Atomic Skull as an underutilized villain, highlighting previous successful narratives like Phil Jimenez's Superwoman work. Plans for Zod storylines are in development, with original concepts influenced by sci-fi classics like Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan. He advises artists to specialize in genres and network at conventions, while encouraging writers to start with smaller companies or licensed comics. Kaminski addresses misconceptions about creators' intentions, advocating for fans to read comics with an open mind regarding character developments. Notes ️ Paul Kaminski's Background and Role (01:50 - 11:15) Paul Kaminski serves as Group Editor for Metropolis Group at DC Comics, overseeing Superman titles, Green Lantern, Aquaman, Flash, Green Arrow, and Justice League. DC Comics currently operates three editorial groups: Metropolis Group, Gotham Group, and newly formed Themyscira Group led by Brittany Holzer. Kaminski has 17 years of experience in comics industry, starting at Archie Comics and working on Sonic the Hedgehog before joining DC in 2015. Getting Into Comics and Career Development (03:09 - 12:31) Kaminski's entry into comics began with X-Men animated series at age 7-8, followed by purchasing Wolverine #76 and Death of Superman trade paperback. Pizza Hut X-Men video featuring Bob Harris, Fabian Nicieza, and Scott Lobdell was formative in understanding comic creation process. Early editorial experience involved learning hands-on approach vs. hands-off approach to editing, with first major lesson being 'editing is not writing the comic yourself.' ️ Superman Editorial Philosophy and Approach (19:23 - 20:46) Kaminski's Superman vision draws from 90s Animated Series, combining elements of Fleischer cartoons, George Reeves TV show, and Triangle Era comics. Hired Joshua Williamson as writer for Superman relaunch based on their successful collaboration on Dark Crisis. Selected Jamal Campbell as artist after being impressed by his work on Naomi, particularly Superman fight scene. Super Family Organization and Visual Identity (32:03 - 32:03) Implemented unified visual style for Super Family with matching jackets designed by Dan Mora, inspired by Jim Lee's X-Men era. Action Comics #1051 cover serves as mission statement for organized Super Family approach. Superman intentionally remains only cape-wearing member to maintain visual distinction within the family. Current and Future Superman Publishing Strategy (13:51 - 40:27) Three core Superman titles serve different purposes: Superman (future/All-In storylines), Superman Unlimited (present-day Kryptonite kingdom stories), Action Comics (past/Superboy canonical stories). Action #1100 is being planned for fall 2026 with major story arc. Legion of Darkseid storyline spans Superman issues #28-30 as crucial future DC direction. ️ Character Development and Villain Preferences (36:00 - 39:04) Strong advocacy for Atomic Skull as underutilized villain, praising Phil Jimenez's rehabilitation storyline in Superwoman. Plans brewing for Zod storylines with hints being dropped across current issues. 'Kneel Before Zod' book was originally inspired by Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan approach, even approaching director Nick Meyer to write it. Industry Advice and Misconceptions (16:39 - 43:08) For artists: Focus on specific genre specialization and build community networks through conventions and local studios. For writers: Target small companies first, pursue licensed comics as entry point, especially Star Trek. Biggest fan misconception: Creators aren't intentionally trying to destroy favorite characters - encourages reading comics 'in good faith.'
Episode 395: Erez Kaminski - CEO & Founder, Ketryx by VentureFizz
In the long eighteenth century, as Britain grappled with the aftermath of the 1707 Acts of Union and consolidated a global empire, Welsh ‘Cambro-Britons' developed a movement of cultural awakening, reinventing their traditions for a new age. Amid profound local, national and imperial transformations, Welsh authors and activists sought to reimagine their history, language and literature, claiming a place for Wales and the Welsh diaspora in the British imperial order. Far from being an insular phenomenon, this revival intersected with key debates of the era, from enlightenment science and radical politics to colonial expansion, transatlantic abolitionism and metropolitan sociability. Welsh Revivalism in Imperial Britain, 1707-1819: True Britons and Celtic Empires (Boydell & Brewer, 2025) by Dr. Rhys Kaminski-Jones reframes Welsh cultural revivalism, revealing its fundamentally international and archipelagic dimensions. Nationally significant Welsh authors like Lewis Morris, David Samwell, Thomas Pennant, and Iolo Morganwg are placed in their transnational, imperial, and global contexts. Examined alongside Thomas Gray's British bardism, William Jones's Orientalism, and the imperialism of Cook's voyages, their writings demonstrate how Welsh thinkers engaged with – and shaped – shifting ideas of Britishness, empire, race, and identity. Drawing on new archival research, and giving equal attention to Welsh and English language texts, Dr. Kaminski-Jones challenges traditional narratives of Welsh cultural nationalism as a simple precursor to modern Welsh nationhood, instead positioning the revival as central to transatlantic intellectual currents. With its pathbreaking bilingual and interdisciplinary approach, this book offers fresh insights into the complexities of nationhood, empire, and cultural memory. This interview was conducted by Dr. Miranda Melcher whose book focuses on post-conflict military integration, understanding treaty negotiation and implementation in civil war contexts, with qualitative analysis of the Angolan and Mozambican civil wars. DC Comics' Superman Group Editor PAUL KAMINSKI joins Shawn's Celebrating Superman series to discuss their love of the Man of Steel, James Gunn's new film, and all of the exciting things the Superman creative team have in store for Superman fans through the rest of this year AND BEYOND!
In this episode, I sit with Comedian Eden Kaminski (she/her), reconnecting after many years in this very special way. We discuss Eden's experience coming out as queer trans woman, getting into comedy and philosophy at the same time (very cool!), DIY hormones, treating coming out as the celebration that it is and why that is sometimes secondary to making it convenient to others, mental health and how that has shifted since Eden came out, and all the layers we pull away from ourself over time!
Ever feel like your teen doesn't quite fit into the “introvert” or “extrovert” box? In this week's episode, I talk with psychiatrist and author Dr. Rami Kaminski, who introduces the idea of the “otrovert”—someone who thrives as a non-joiner, deeply connected to a few people but resistant to the pull of the group. We explore how embracing this way of being can free parents from pushing kids to “fit in” and instead celebrate who they truly are. If your teen values authenticity over popularity—or you wish you understood them better—this conversation will shift your perspective. Katy Kaminski returns to examine a moment in trend following that feels familiar... but isn't. Drawing on new research, she and Niels explore how drawdowns resolve, why recovery is faster when markets break, and slower when they don't, and what that asymmetry reveals about the current cycle. They unpack copper's historic 1-day move, the role of China in CTA return dispersion, and what slower, replication-based strategies might be capturing that others aren't. This episode isn't about defending trend - it's about understanding what environments it needs, and what signals suggest we're getting closer.-----50 YEARS OF TREND FOLLOWING BOOK AND BEHIND-THE-SCENES VIDEO FOR ACCREDITED INVESTORS - CLICK HERE-----Follow Niels on Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube or via the TTU website.IT's TRUE ? – most CIO's read 50+ books each year – get your FREE copy of the Ultimate Guide to the Best Investment Books ever written here. And you can get a free copy of my latest book “Ten Reasons to Add Trend Following to Your Portfolio” here.Learn more about the Trend Barometer here.Send your questions to info@toptradersunplugged.comAnd please share this episode with a like-minded friend and leave an honest Rating & Review on iTunes or Spotify so more people can discover the podcast.Follow Katy on LinkedIn.Episode TimeStamps:00:48 - What has been on our radar recently?07:43 - Crazy moves in US copper09:45 - Industry performance update14:31 - How should we approach the current drawdowns in managed futures?23:01 - Why trend following is struggling at the moment31:22 - Rebalancing in trend following is key33:57 - A better alternative trend following?37:32 - The different types of impact to markets and how it reflects on the CTA industry44:41 - The key variables for understanding regimes53:21 - Replication is beating the benchmarks that they are trying to replicate58:16 - Mechanical vs. regression based replication59:33 - Defining tracking errorCopyright © 2024 – CMC AG – All Rights...

Today's special topic cuts deeper than science or partisan politics---it defends North American duck hunting's essential back bone, wetland health and abundance, continued public land access, and our legacy to future duck hunting generations. Right now, powerful forces are dismantling the foundations of North America's greatest success story--waterfowl hunting as you've known it your entire life. Most have scarcely even noticed. Decades of data and research, the programs and staff that keep ducks overhead and seasons open--all are all on the chopping block. If you've ever watched sunrise from the duck blind, heard thundering wings overhead, or taught your children the meaning of this cherished tradition--this fight belongs to you. Me. All waterfowlers. Silence is complicity. Read the links below. And act now. This is your chance to make a real difference. If not you, who?
