Shannon Weber, Managing Editor of Feast Magazine, returns to the podcast to take up her favorite movie year! She joins Joshua and Andrew to party like it's 1999 when they discuss her pick from that year, The Virgin Suicides. Before flashing back to Sofia Coppola's debut feature, the boys talk some films that are Now Showing: Radu Jude's (masterpiece) Do Not Expect Too Much from the End of the World and a spider-rific Sting. Finally, they'll all have One More Thing with more Jeffrey Eugenides, Netflix's 3 Body Problem, and... something else? Katharine Coldiron returns on the next episode to talk with Joshua and Andrew about the latter's pick for the My Favorite Movie Year program: 2007 and The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. For the latest episode in the Nancy/Nora series, the Lens crew welcomes Bree Maniscalco, Executive Director of Cinema St. Louis, and her pick "Julie & Julia." Bon appétit! First, "Hocus Pocus 2," "Do Revenge," and "Athena" are Now Showing. Lastly, Joshua takes a pilgrimage with Tsai Ming-liang and Lee Kang-shen; Kayla is still watching "Southern Charm" but might take a break for spooky season; and Andrew is back in Disney's grasp with "Star Wars: Andor." Next up is the final episode of Nancy/Nora with Kayla's pick of "The Intern," Meyers' intergenerational workplace comedy with Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway. Please share, subscribe, and review! Like many of the world's most celebrated creatives, Michelle Crawford wholeheartedly embraces the unpredictable adventures that taking risks can bring. With no jobs and only a credit card to keep them afloat, Michelle, husband Leo and their then infant daughter Elsa moved to Tasmania in 2004, in search of a simpler life more connected to the land. After going on to welcome a son, in 2007 Michelle started a blog named after her two kids, Hugo and Elsa, aimed at documenting her new life in the countryside, which would ultimately go on to attract a significant community of followers. Once her kids were at school, Michelle was free to pursue an array of creative and culinary-focused interests, leading to a host of collaborations with some of Tassie's most acclaimed chefs and food critics including Matthew Evans, Sally Wise and Ben Milbourne. During this time she also established herself as one of the country's leading voices on all things food, authoring four books and numerous articles featured in the likes of Country Style, Galah, Graziher, Jetstar Magazine, Feast Magazine, Inside Out and Lunch Lady Magazine. More recently, she has started the process of gently restoring an old bank known as 'The Bowmont' in the idyllic village of Franklin in Tasmania's Huon Valley, which she and Leo bought a few years ago. True to form, she has many grand plans for this history-filled building and I was thrilled to be able to catch up with her about them - and so much more - a few weeks ago.

Being nearly a god will make you do some really foolish things is something we discover on the latest episode of JUST ONE OF THE GUYS: A GREEN LANTERN PODCAST. This week, in out coverage of Green Lantern #149, we see Kyle as the omnipotent Ion essentially render the Justice League of America impotent by handling a massive alien invasion while chillaxing at a staff meeting on The Watchtower. This, of course, raises concern with the Man of Steel, Superman, who has a little discussion with Kyle about what it is to be a hero. More exceptional writing from Judd Winick make this a great read. Add to that the coverage of Green Lantern: Secret Files and Origins #3, and you've got yourself a heck of a show...well, maybe not quite so great as the main story is written by Ben Raab and really does a number on the character of Jenny Lynn Hayden. Plus you get an idea of what Kyle's "City Dwellers" comic from Feast Magazine would be like, a story about a shadowy agency run by a guy with a skull for a head, and some awkward Who's Who type entries featuring Terry Berg going through his morning cleaning ritual. Yeah...so that was a thing. But on the upside, I'm joined by my good friend from the shows Parallel Lines: The DC Comics Tangent Universe Podcast and Superman and Batman, Mr. Michael Bradley, and we spend a good amount of time talking about how amazing Superman is in the Green Lantern issue. So, unless you want Kyle to wish you into the cornfield, I suggest you grab your mp3 player of choice, download the show, and start to listening!Feedback for this show can be sent to: justoneoftheguyspodcast@gmail.comJust One Of The Guys is a proud member of the Two True Freaks! This time, it really begins again...FOR REALS!!! Oh, who am I kidding, I've beaten that horse into a fine paste. It's just another outstanding episode of Just One of the Guys. But there is an actual change going on. This begins the major comic debut of writer Judd Winick! Yes, the man who made his career starring on MTV's The Real World is now helming Green Lantern. And how is his debut story? Well there's some good (the introduction of a strong supporting character in Terry Long) and some bad (the introduction of the worst gay stereotpye ever to grace the four color medium, Rawhide Kid's revamp included). But overall it's a good beginning to a new era in Green Lantern Plus we take a look at the second issue of Green Lantern versus Aliens. After Hal had the brilliant idea of putting a horde of xenomorphs on the living planet Mogo, Kyle Rayner is tasked a cleaning up his mess. But he won't have to do it alone, as he's joined by some pretty famous former Lanterns who feel a bit responsible for their actions. It's a great story with some great art by Rick Leonardi. And in addition to all of that, I'm joined by another stellar guest host in the guise of Mr. Thomas Deja (Better in the Dark) to reassure me that Winick won't completely screw up Guy Gardner's character...So, unless you want to have Andre Choi sexually harrass you, I suggest you grab your mp3 player of choice, download the show, and get to listening!Feedback for this show can be sent to: justoneoftheguyspodcast@gmail.comJust One Of The Guys is a proud member of the Two True Freaks! Katie Lee was born and raised in Saint Louis, MO. Katie has also lived in Florence Italy with her mother and professional artist Belinda Lee. Katie then worked for 7 years for her Aunt Zoe (Robinson) Pidgeon, local restaurateur and owner of many successful restaurants including Cafe Zoe, Zoe's Pan-Asian Cafe, Il Fratellini, Les Freres, and BOBO Noodle House. Katie Lee was the Creator/Founder and Executive Chef at age 25 of Katie's Pizzeria in Clayton, MO. Katie's Pizzeria will be open 6 years in Feb 2013. Katie's Pizza & Pasta has been open 90 days and was funded in part by a successful Kickstarter.com campaign that raised $42,000. The beautiful artisan pasta in all shapes and colors dries on racks throughout the restaurant. The wood burning pizza oven is exposed to the dining room in an open kitchen. The wall behind the bar plays retro Italian films on a large projector along with two beautiful living green walls. This success can be attributed to many things: Katie's full time management of front and back of house, focus on consistency, effective marketing strategies, an innovative concept, high quality product and service, and a desire to grow and change with the market. Katie was featured on the cover of the St. Louis Business Journal, where they recognized her current operations success during the recession. Katie also has plans to publish a cookbook as well as sell her pastas and sauces in retail stores. Katie’s Pizza & Pasta is giving back by partnering with Food Outreach, Gateway:180, Siteman Cancer Center, Haven House and Dining Out For Life. On Today's show Katie will share: -What is your personal mission statement “Inspire a unique culinary lifestyle brand through a mixed media experience” -What is your biggest business mistake I’ve had a ton of mishaps, but I honestly don’t consider any a mistake, I consider them all incredible learning experiences, and without those mishaps I wouldn’t have the success or clarity that I have today. When I opened the first restaurant I really didn’t understand the ups and downs of business and took a lot of things personally. I would give up a lot in the beginning. I don’t give up now. My takeaway from all of those failures in the first few years was a checked ego and an understanding of the cycles of business and how to pivot quickly. No one is on top forever, but I now know how to regain strength, pivot, and march back up the hill. -How do you handle business stress and uncertainty Prayer and trust in God -Greatest business decision that changed everything Launching a kickstarter.com campaign. It’s what brought excitement and awareness to my brand, and introduced me to the right team of people. -Best book for the entrepreneurial mindset The Four Hour Work Week, by Timothy Ferris. I don’t agree with everything in the book, but there are a few key messages that have really shaped and inspired my entrepreneurial thinking. - Plus much more...
