Singer GLENN LEONARD is best known for his time as a member of the iconic Motown group, The Temptations. Glenn joined The Temptations in 1975 as the first new member to join the group after their classic lineup had already achieved immense popularity. During his time with The Temptations, the group released several successful albums, including "The Temptations Do the Temptations" (1976), "Bare Back" (1978), and "Power" (1980). Some of their notable hits from this era include "Happy People," "Shakey Ground," and "Power.” Glenn was a part of The Temptations "Reunion" tour and album in 1982, featuring The Classic Five lineup (excluding Paul Williams who had committed suicide in 1973 ). After parting ways with the group in 1983 and being replaced by Ron Tyson, Leonard became a born-again Christian, entered into full-time ministry and was licensed in 1986. He became ordained and received a doctorate degree in the early 1990s. He also pursued a successful solo career and today leads his own Temptation Revue Group. In this episode, Glenn Leonard relates the story of The Temptations that formed in 1960 in Detroit, Michigan. The band are widely regarded as one of the most influential and successful groups in the history of popular music. Known for their signature harmonies, electrifying performances, and iconic choreography, The Temptations became synonymous with the soulful Motown sound. Their timeless hits, including "My Girl," "Papa Was a Rollin' Stone," "Ain't Too Proud to Beg," "Get Ready," and "Just My Imagination (Running Away with Me)," showcased their ability to seamlessly blend soul, pop, and funk, leaving an indelible mark on the music industry. Glenn tells us that The Temptations received numerous accolades throughout their career, including induction into the prestigious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989. Their enduring music continues to resonate with audiences worldwide, and their contributions to the Motown era and soul music remain unparalleled. I hope you enjoy Glenn Leonard's story. Ep. #22 - Andre Jackson is our third guest in our COVID-19 Survivor Series. SEVEN members of his family (including him) all contracted COVID-19 and everyone survived! Andre was born and raised in Washington, DC. I was excited to learn that like me, he attended Cardozo High School. (Shout out to Cardozo Alumni!) He’s been married for 21 years, he’s a teacher, he sings with a local band, “Sudden M-Pac” and he’s sang with the former lead singer of the Temptations, Glenn Leonard & his Temptations Revue! Andre has also toured all over the world with the Temptations Revue in places like Germany, France, and Australia, and of course all over the United States! His career is both intriguing and exciting. In this episode we talk a little about what it’s like to be a teacher during these times, and how it feels when teaching and learning is no longer in a classroom. But the real story is how a night out with the family ended up being the same night when everyone was infected with the coronavirus. Andre tells us about his initial symptoms, testing, and what led him to go to the hospital. As members of his family got sick, the thing that scared him the most was when he learned his mother caught it. Listen as he shares what he and his family experienced and how they all beat COVID-19. According to show insiders, when all was said and done, Landau had won America’s Got Talent by the biggest vote total in the show’s history. In November 2011, Landau released his Columbia Records debut album “That’s Life.” The CD hit #1 on the Billboard Jazz chart in time for Christmas and was produced by Grammy winner Steve Tyrell, who also helmed Rod Stewart’s Great American Songbook album. Landau soon hit the road for his first ever tour, backed by an 18-piece big band, selling out performing arts centers, casinos, and theaters all over America. It was a dream come true for the always humble, gracious vocalist, who insisted that he come out after every show to meet his fans for photos and conversation. “Without them, I wouldn’t be here. I wouldn’t be anywhere.” For many winners of television talent competitions, the ride is short, but for Landau, four years after winning America’s Got Talent, things couldn’t be busier. A book co-authored with award-winning writer Rick Robinson chronicling Landau’s All-American success story titled “Landau Eugene Murphy Jr.: From Washing Cars to Hollywood Star” debuted at #1 on the Amazon.com Jazz Book chart, where it remained for several weeks during the 2013 holiday season, and was purchased by many as a companion piece to Landau’s second album “Christmas Made For Two.” © 2015 Building Abundant Success!! 2015 All Rights Reserved "LIKE" my Facebook Page ~ Facebook.com/BuildingAbundantSuccess
