Today's guest on The Feminine Frequency is Bryn Roshong. She lives on her family's farm in Lomontville with her husband, Wes Hannah, and two kids. She has spent the last 15 years working in and up against the food system as a farmer, farmer policy advocate, and in industrial-scale food manufacturing. She is co-owner with Wes of Solid Ground Farm, a four-season diversified organic veggie farm in Marbletown, stewarding 25 acres and employing 6 full-time farm staff. At the farm, she serves in roles outside the fields, supporting the farm's bookkeeping, mission, and communications. Since 2021, after eight years working in operations at a former food processing facility called The Farm Bridge, Bryn has been working with a great team at Community Food Works, building community-focused food processing infrastructure in Kingston to strengthen the local agricultural economy and make local food accessible to as many community members as possible. She enjoys hanging out with her family at home and in the woods, and volunteering with a few local organizations: the Kingston farmers market board, Marbletown's Community Preservation Advisory Board, advisory committee for Growing Homes, and political advocacy working group of the HV Young Farmers Coalition. We get to hear about how Bryn (and Wes) went from labor organizing to farm working to running their own farm supported by a team of dedicated farmers. We learn about the work Bryn has done and is doing to create a more self sustaining food system in the Hudson Valley which includes a deeper understanding of how food banks and food pantries work. I had no idea! Bryn is also well versed in the inherent racism in the farming industry and sheds light on how the Federal Government's efforts to reverse DEI has impacted beneficial food programs that were bringing more equality to farming and food access. How does she do it all while also being a mom to two young children? She's starting to find ways to receive help despite the personal challenges and perspectives that created the "I can and must do it all" attitude. Who else can relate??? (We do.) More on that, but for now, we hope you enjoy our conversation with Bryn. You can learn more about the Farm and their CSA program here. Here's your New Moon Solar Eclipse astrology. Happy Year of the Snake! In this archive episode from January 2024, we chat with Andrew Stokols, who is researching varieties of digital urbanism globally, with an emphasis on China. We briefly compare notes on the urban development of Beijing in the 21st century, including the contradictions between Beijing as a technologically advanced urban center and an ancient capital city. Andrew also provides updates on the progress of Xiong'an, the digital “smart city” being constructed in Hebei province, as a showcase for Xi Jinping's vision for urban development. The urban plan was initially unveiled in 2017 to relieve pressure on Beijing and promote the coordinated regional development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, but what Xi has called a “thousand-year plan of national significance” has run into numerous setbacks and controversy. We also hear from Andrew about how the Party is merging Marxist ideology with traditional Chinese culture in recent urban architectural projects, particularly the mammoth National Archives of Publications and Culture (Zhongguo guojia banbenguan 中国国家版本馆), described as a “seed bank” of Chinese civilization. These mammoth archives, being constructed in the four geographically significant locations of Beijing, Hangzhou, Xi'an, and Guangzhou, will house original and digitized editions of imperial archives such as the Complete Library of the Four Treasuries (the Siku quanshu四库全书), as well as historical artifacts, music, and literature from the Mao era, thus effecting the goal of “two combines” (liangge jiehe 两个结合), Xi Jinping's goal of “combining Marxist theory with China's outstanding traditional culture.”Andrew's own online archive: https://www.andrewstokols.com/

Happy Year of the Dragon, which in Mandarin is 'long' so it's going to be a looong year as a Chinese friend pointed out to me this week.In this episode, I (briefly) talk about my grandfather's time in Hong Kong as child, and the First Chinese Man in Britain (longer ago than I thought). I talk about the Opium Wars, drawing on two books I recommended previously and that I have reviewed on my Youtube channel, 'The Rise and Fall of the British Empire' by Lawrence James and 'Empire: How Britain Made the Modern World' by Niall Furgusson. I also recommend the Youtube channel 'Electric Shadows Cinema'. I also, also talk about the handover of Hong Kong from Britain to China in 1997, and how those events eventually made it into a 007 film. Talking of James Bond, I also talk about three British-Chinese alumni of the long-running film franchise, plus our first Chinese members of the House of Lords and House of Commons. If you're wondering about the music at the top and tail of the episode, I recorded the street sounds on my way to work in Shenzhen one day.If you have an idea for the Alphabet of Britishness, please do not hesitate to message me. Happy Year of the Dragon, 新年快乐,龙年大吉! Just in time for the Lunar New Year here's, here's a look back at the 1960s when Mwalimu Julius Nyerere, the nation of Tanzania, and Mao's China were fully engaged and setting the pace for future Sino-African Relations. This episode is useful in gaining a little context for today's China-Africa big picture. China's relationship with most African nations goes back to 1955. In this episode, the focus will be on PRC-Tanzania relations but from this relationship you can get a halfway decent big picture of the dynamic back in the Mao era. I hope you enjoy it. Hello everyone! Happy Lunar New Year! In today's podcast I talk about Lunar New Year celebratory activities at school. We went on a field trip on Tuesday, including a hotpot buffet meal and a visit to the Asian supermarket next door. We also did various other activities such as Chinese paper cutting and a "Cake Day" on Friday, where students brought cakes to celebrate. I also share my own Lunar New Year traditions, including wearing red, especially because it's my zodiac year. If you celebrate, I wish you a prosperous Year of the Dragon! Script and useful expressions below. I noticed that on some podcast platforms, this is not fully displayed. Please feel free to email me for script or questions! 大年初一 (dà nián chū yī) - Chinese New Year's Day吉祥如意 (jí xiáng rú yì) - Good luck and happiness经验教训 (jīng yàn jiào xùn) - Experience and lessons learned自助 (zì zhù) - Self-service二维码 (èr wéi mǎ) - QR code传统 (chuán tǒng) - Tradition; Traditional团圆饭 (tuán yuán fàn) - Reunion dinner欢笑 (huān xiào) - Laughter and joy春晚 (chūn wǎn) - Spring Festival Gala (a special TV program aired on Chinese New Year's Eve)祝你龙年行大运 (zhù nǐ lóng nián xíng dà yùn) - Wishing you great success in the Year of the DragonSupport the showThank you for listening. Happy Year of the Dragon! Vicky and I discuss the personality characteristics of those born under the dragon sign. Some useful words/phrases for today's minisode: 本命年 (běnmìngnián)- Basically, "Your Year" or "One's Own Year". If you were born in the year of the dragon, then you get to say the following: "今年是我的本命年" (Jīnnián shì wǒ de běnmìngnián)"This year is my year" - or "This is the year of my animal sign" Of course, if you say that, then you can then say, "我在暴露我的年纪"(Wǒ zài bàolù wǒ de niánjì)"I'm revealing my age" Because the Dragon Year comes every 12 years, so either you've just been born (not too likely if you're already talking), are 12, 24, 36, 48, 60, 72...and so on. 很受欢迎的属相 (Hěn shòu huānyíng de shǔxiang)- A popular animal sign 优点 (Yōudiǎn) strengths 缺点 (Quēdiǎn) shortcoming Here are the strengths/shortcomings of those born in the Dragon Year: 优点:Yōudiǎn 热情奔放 — (Rèqíng bēnfàng)Passionate and unrestrained, Bubbling with enthusiasm 活力四溢 - (Huólì sì yì)overflowing with energy 聪明机智 - (Cōngmíng jīzhì) clever and witty 头脑灵活 (Tóunǎo línghuó)Smart, Lit: Flexible Brain 勇于追求梦想,不惧困难。(Yǒngyú zhuīqiú mèngxiǎng bù jù kùnnán)Dares to pursue dreams without fear of difficulties。 缺点 Shortcomings 高傲自负 (Gāo'ào zìfù)Arrogant, Conceited 缺乏耐心 (Quēfá nàixīn)Lacking in Patience 难以接受失败 (Nányǐ jiēshòu shībài)Has difficulty accepting failure 祝你们大家龙年大吉啊!(Zhù nǐmen dàjiā lóng nián dàjí a!) In this episode, I share the major Aquarius and Pisces stelliums and conjunctions. We have a new moon in Aquarius that also signifies the Lunar New Year. Happy Year of the Dragon! and the full moon in Virgo. I also go through the 12 rising signs and share what the Pluto in Aquarius transit will mean for your life since I forgot to do that in episode 211: Pluto in Aquarius. This month's forecast is shorter not because it's the shortest month, even though this February, there are 29 days but because I'm super busy thanks to my Aquarius placements. Hi Gang: Happy Friday! Happy Year! I plan to discuss the “Immigration Con Game” that is and has been, for decades, perpetrated by the globalists of both parties, the mainstream media and assorted others who see in America's borders and an immigration law enforcement, an impediment to their wealth! For starters I urge you to read the Jerusalem Post article that was published earlier today: US President Biden compares illegal immigrants to Jews fleeing Nazi Germany We the People must get our voices heard by our supposed political representatives so that come to understand that we are not the fools they have been playing us for! Tonight we will consider what the Republicans must do to address the many threats posed by the dysfunctional immigration system that undermine national security, public safety, public health, the jobs and wages of Americans and also endanger the environment. It had been said the knowledge is power- I can to provide you with the information you need to hold our politicians accountable. It has never been more important that we truly learn how to speak with our fellow Americans in non-confrontational but in fact-based effective and persuasive ways. Immigration is one issue that should unite all Americans- if all of the facts were made known. Please read my articles. If you like them, post the links on FaceBook along with a link to my radio show. Be a part of my “Bucket Brigade of Truth” and tell your friends and neighbors about my program- and mywebsite, remember Democracy is not a “Spectator Sport!”

Sten and Andy have helped hundreds of advisors to start charging for their advice, but this is the number one objection we get from those who haven't started charging. How do you keep a paid planning client happy throughout the year? In this episode, Sten will answer that question with several practical things you can do to get paid planning clients and keep them happy throughout the year, all the way up to the time for them to renew. If you're ready to start getting paid for your advice, go to eadvisornetwork.com and check out our How To Charge For Your Advice. The average price for an advisor's first paid plan after going through our program is $3,000, so it pays for itself right away. stenmorgan.com/18
