You know the things that would probably help. The walk. The boundary. The therapy session. The earlier bedtime. The journal sitting untouched on your nightstand. So why does it feel so hard to actually do them?If you've ever found yourself reaching for your phone instead of your healing, texting your ex when you knew better, pouring another glass of wine, avoiding the hard conversation, or putting off the very thing that might help you feel better... this episode is for you.In this conversation, Dawn explores the frustrating paradox so many women face after divorce: wanting to heal while simultaneously resisting the very things that support healing. You'll learn why your nervous system often chooses familiar pain over unfamiliar growth, how childhood conditioning can make healthy choices feel surprisingly uncomfortable, and why this struggle has far less to do with willpower than you've been led to believe. Most importantly, you'll walk away with a simple, practical tool to help you start choosing yourself—even when it feels hard.Because healing isn't about being perfect. It's about learning to recognize the moments when you're standing at a crossroads between temporary relief and lasting change. And choosing yourself, one small decision at a time.In This Episode:Why healing often feels harder than staying stuckThe post-divorce paradox nobody talks aboutHow your nervous system confuses familiar pain with safetyThe childhood patterns that may still be driving your choicesWhy self-care can feel uncomfortable at firstA simple exercise to help you stop abandoning yourself in real timeIf you've been wondering why you can't seem to follow through on the things you know would help, this episode might give you the answer you've been looking for.Support the show✨Join the Cocoon Community - your people are waiting! ✨
Tune in today to an episode that speaks and jolts your hearts. Elder Angela reminds us as she reflects on the teachings of Pastor Rick Warren that all we have comes directly from God, our Source. “But God remembered Noah and all the wild animals and the livestock that were with him in the ark, and he sent a wind over the earth, and the waters receded.” Genesis 8:1 (NIV)May God remember me and you this day, whatever we put our hands to do. May you excel in the market place, may provision be at hand. God has a purpose and a plan so may you be blessed with the gifts God has entrusted you with and whatsoever miracles and blessings He bestows lift up a Hallelujah and like Haydn raised his hands skyward and said, “Not from me. What makes Good Friday “good”? In this powerful Good Friday message, Ps. Candice Chicken unpacks the tension of the cross: physically, it was a horrific day of suffering, sorrow, and grief — but spiritually, it was astounding.Looking at Isaiah 53, this sermon explores the deeper meaning behind Jesus' crucifixion and why His death was unlike any other. While crucifixion was common in the Roman world, what made Jesus' cross different was the spiritual reality of what took place there. In this message, we discover two life-changing truths:Jesus is over our suffering Jesus carries our weakness, enters our sorrow, and brings healing and wholeness through the cross. Whether you are facing anxiety, grief, disappointment, fatigue, illness, or deep personal pain, this message is a reminder that you do not suffer alone.Jesus is over our sin Ps. Candice explains the biblical meaning of atonement, showing how the Old Testament sacrifices pointed toward Jesus — the spotless Lamb of God who gave His life once and for all. Through His blood, our sin is forgiven, our shame is removed, and we can be made right with God.This message is both deeply reflective and full of hope, ending with a call to respond to Jesus and receive His forgiveness, freedom, healing, and grace.Key Scripture: Isaiah 53 Also referenced: 2 Corinthians 12, Romans 6:23, 1 John 1:7, Revelation 21If this message encouraged you, be sure to share it and join us again as we continue the Easter journey.⛪ Thrive Church Helping people move towards Jesus.

These days I sometimes have to remind myself to keep breathing. I think this is true of human beings across all of our differences and divides. But in a room in New York City just before the turn of this year, I was regrounded by this fierce and joyous conversation with Joy Harjo and Tracy K. Smith. I invite you to settle into your soft breathing body with these two wise women as companions and with a sense of poetry as a technology, as Tracy describes in her new book: a technology for rising to our truest, highest selves, even amidst grief and mystery and danger, and bearing witness to each other as we do so. I think all of us in the room left a little more lighthearted and alive as this conversation unfolded. I hope that will be your experience too. Tracy K. Smith and Joy Harjo are former U.S. poet laureates, beloved On Being guests, and friends. They are each wildly and deservedly awarded and not just as poets — Tracy also as a teacher and professor at Harvard, Joy as a saxophonist and painter. We were brought together at Symphony Space in Manhattan to celebrate their newest books: Fear Less by Tracy and Girl Warrior by Joy. Sign yourself and others up for The Pause to be on our mailing list for all things On Being and to receive Krista's monthly Saturday newsletter, including a heads up on new episodes, special offerings, recommendations, and event invitations. Joy Harjo was the 23rd Poet Laureate of the United States. Among many honors, she has received the Poetry Society of America's Frost Medal and a National Humanities Medal. She is the inaugural Artist-in-Residence for the Bob Dylan Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She lives on the Muscogee Nation Reservation in Oklahoma. Her new book of essays is Girl Warrior. Forthcoming in 2026 is her 12th book of poetry and a new album co-produced with esperanza spalding. Tracy K. Smith was the 22nd Poet Laureate of the United States. She teaches at Harvard University, where she is Boylston Professor of Rhetoric and Oratory, Professor of African and African American Studies, and Susan S. and Kenneth L. Wallach Professor at the Harvard Radcliffe Institute. Among her many honors, she has been awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry and is a Chancellor of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. In this episode of Don't Miss This, Dave Butler and Grace Freeman walk through Genesis 24–33 and step into one of the greatest story arcs in all of scripture. From Isaac and Rebekah's love story to Jacob's rivalry with Esau, these chapters remind us that God writes beautiful stories through very imperfect people. What begins as a rom-com at a well slowly unfolds into betrayal, broken relationships, wilderness nights, and wrestling prayers. Yet in the middle of deception, fear, and family mess, God shows up. He meets Jacob in a no-name place, speaks promises over him at rock bottom, and reveals Himself as the God who brings ladders, angels, and grace into the most undeserving moments. This episode is a reminder that the scriptures do not hide the complicated parts of our humanity. Instead, they reveal a God who meets us there, who turns shame into altars, who gives new names, and who helps us prevail. If you have ever wondered whether your story is too messy for God to redeem, this lesson is for you. Chapters: 00:00 INTRO 07:25 "Prayer for Angels and Journey" 15:51 "Rebecca and Isaac's Love Story" 22:18 "Blessing, Struggle, and Motherhood" 33:02 "Family Dynamics and Prophecy" 41:35 "Dream of Ladder to Heaven" 47:06 "Jacob's Encounter at Bethel" 51:11 "The Transformative Power of Forgiveness" 56:22 "The True Hero in Tragedy" 01:01:40 "God of Israel and Jacob" Sign up for the Don't Miss This newsletter at www.dontmissthisstudy.com #dontmissthis #comefollowme NEWSLETTER LINK: The Don't Miss This video, the prayer poster, and tip-ins for kids, teens, couples and individuals can all be found in this week's newsletter. Genesis 3 reveals the moment God's good creation fractures through deception, disobedience, and sin. By tracing Satan's tactics from the garden to the brokenness we still experience today, we see how guilt, shame, fractured relationships, and a broken world entered the story. Yet even in judgment, hope remains. Through Noah's story, Scripture reminds us that God still seeks, shows favor, and offers redemption, pointing us to hope that persists even when everything seems shattered.Pursuing God with Gene Appel is designed to help you pursue God, build community, and unleash compassion. Grounded in Scripture and shaped by Eastside's conviction that God's grace is for everyone, each episode invites you to discover God's presence and activity in your life.

Everything good starts with the soil and a conservation stewardship mindset. In the 101st episode, Dr. Summer Thomas, education and outreach specialist with the Virginia Soil Health Coalition, explains how agriculture and soil health are good for everyone. As a third-generation farmer from Delaware, former watermelon queen, a trained soil scientist and educator, and an overall advocate for agriculture, Summer shares some of her earliest experiences of 4-H and FFA with Jeff, Mary, and Eric in public speaking, youth education, and land stewardship. These early education and outreach experiences were a launch point for her passion for agriculture and career pursuit. Summer emphasizes that soil health and agriculture provide many positive community connections and must be fun for the next generation of farmers. Additionally, soil health is foundational to resilient farm businesses and systems. As always, we encourage you to cooperate with other farmers, graziers, and gardeners for peer-to-peer learning and to follow the four core soil health principles: 1) Keep the soil covered -- Cover crops are our friends and allies;2) Minimize soil disturbance -- Practice no-till or gentle tillage in your field or garden as much as possible;3) Maximize living roots year-round -- to improve biodiversity, soil structure, and life in the soil; and4) Energize with diversity -- through crop rotation, farm enterprises, and/or livestock integration.Yes, soil health is a great conversation starter. We encourage everyone to have a five-minute conversation about soil every day because we can all be 4 The Soil and for the future! To enjoy recent 4 The Soil blog posts and additional soil health resources, please visit https://www.4thesoil.org/blog and https://www.virginiasoilhealth.org/. For questions about soil and water conservation practices, 4-H and FAA opportunities, and conservation activities for youth, call or visit a USDA Service Center, a Virginia Soil and Water Conservation District office, or your local Virginia Cooperative Extension office.

Once in a while, I get a letter seeking my advice that's so serious I'm not sure if I should read it on YouTube. Usually I decline, but in the case of a letter I received just a few days ago, I couldn't stop thinking about the danger that everyone is in, and thought I'd better tell the letter writer – who asked me to be as harsh as I needed to be – the URGENT TRUTH. Hear my advice to a man about to destroy his family and his life over a fantasy he can "save" vulnerable women. Ten Signs Your Trauma Is Healing: FREE PDF Download: https://bit.ly/3raZghI

Creationism Disproves Evolution Dr. Kent Hovind Dr. Kent Hovind has been preaching the Gospel for over 50 years as a pastor and evangelist and has had over 350 debates against atheists. He is the founder the “Dinosaur Adventure Land” in Lennox, Alabama. I've been looking forward to our discussion today… for those that have followed me, you know that I love sharing information with you on these topics of disproving the stuff being taught today about the earth being billions upon billions of years old. I believe exactly what the Bible says and I believe the earth and everything else was formed exactly as the Bible says…and we have had other experts on in the past that provided insights in this area that backs up that proof. Amen! With that being said, help me welcome to the program, Dr. Kent Hovind! Dr. Kent, thank you for taking the time to join us today! First question I always start with is this… other than that brief information I just shared, can you tell us in your own words, “Who is Dr. Kent Hovind?” How did you get involved with debating those who oppose the Creationist point of view from the Bible? How did you get started with the “Dinosaur Adventure Land?” What do you believe is the most compelling evidence for the Creation Theory? I interviewed an archeologist who is also a geologist several years back. He brought up an excellent contradiction to the evolutionary theorist by using something that happened in recent history – Mt. St. Helen's eruption. He said scientists went in and took some of the trees that had been burned and covered in several dozen feet of ash… as the wind and rain eroded some of the ash, they were able to dig down a bit and find these trees. They did carbon dating on these trees…that had been alive just 7-10 years prior to this – and the carbon dating came back as something like 10,000 years old. If I remember correctly, they hypothesize that the sudden rise in the temperature coupled with immediately being buried by feet of ash and the pressure, etc… caused the erroneous readings. He has used that in his presentations of the errors in the evolutionist theory. You also did calculations on the tides of the earth and how that would also account for petrified forests, etc. prior to the flood. You also share how the Grand Canyon was formed quickly, not over millions of years as science teaches. Share that with us… One thing I love to bring up in a debate… I have not conducted formal debates like you have… I'll rephrase that to a “discussion” is this… When man landed on the moon, what did they find? Nothing! Edwin Aldrin described it as a “magnificent desolation.” They found no life; no plants; no water; no atmosphere – nothing. Why? Because the moon was not made for man – earth was? Who made the earth? Go to Genesis 1 and find out! Praise God! Everything GOOD was created for man by God. All the other stuff, the moon, stars, comets, etc. – is lifeless because man was not supposed to go and live there… Your thoughts on that? You have guests that come to visit you on the “Dinosaur Adventure Land.” You advertise it is free for them to stay? What kind of interesting things will they see when they visit? Dr. Hovind, this so interesting and needful for the day and time we live. If someone wanted to get more information, maybe to ask a question or possibly to do an interview such as this… how can they do that? How can someone get in touch with you? You are also, as you said, able to offer all of these things at the “Dinosaur Adventure Land,” including overnight accommodations for

We speak with Bruce Reyes-Chow about his recent book Everything Good about God Is True, a primer on what it means to choose faith in the midst of a bleeding world and an often broken church. We discuss the Christian ethic of loving enemies, listening, having compassion across ideological division, embodying faith in the public square, biblical literalism, Christian formation, soteriological exclusivism, the eucharist, missions and colonialism, and that time Bruce hung out with Desmond Tutu. You might notice we're experimenting with some new formatting in this episode. In his sermon “Choosing to Follow What is Good,” Bruce reminds us of the grand gift of relationship we have as communal beings who believe that this faithful journey we have accepted in Christ is good or better than what we have experienced before. He reminds us that God's goodness is not limited, but more often than not, we respond to hate with more hate. How do we move through the world the way Jesus has called us to and not how evil has persuaded us to harm the other? How will we choose to step into community and engage with the brokenness around us with compassion?

Job 12:10 (NIV) “In his hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind.” James 1:16-17 NIV “Don't be deceived, my dear brothers and sisters. Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights.” Steve Cuss (Managing Leadership Anxiety) “Anxiety is a signal, not a root cause. Anxiety is generated when we think we need something in any particular moment that we don't actually need. Anxiety is not just worry and fear. It's how you react when you don't get something you think you need. The point is that anxiety becomes a marker that something other than God's presence and love is at play in my mind and body.” Psalm 136:1 NIV Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good. His love endures forever. Psalm 136:7-9 NIV 7 Who made the great lights— His love endures forever. 8 the sun to govern the day, His love endures forever. 9 the moon and stars to govern the night; His love endures forever. Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV) “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Psalm 85:12 (NIV) “The LORD will indeed give what is good.” Who can you share this podcast with?
