In my final episode of the "Fall in Love with Short Form Video" series, I'm sharing exactly how to experiment with short form content strategically. You don't have to spend a bunch of energy on video content and just randomly hope something sticks. Most experiments fail miserably because people aren't actually experiementing at all, they're just being inconsistent. They change everything at once. Scrapping the format, topic, hook, editing every time gives you absolutely no data to learn from. There's no baseline, no timeline, and no clear understanding of what you can actually control. The Framework I Use: Define Your Experiment Window Choose a timeline: 14 days for quick signal testing, 30 days for pattern clarity I recommend 30 days with at least 10 videos—enough data to truly understand what's working Only Change 1-2 Variables This is the core principle: if you change everything, you learn nothing I break down three types of variables you can test: Format-based: length, style (talking head vs. voiceover), platform format Topic-based: category focus, audience angle, stage of awareness Message-based: hooks, story structure, script flow What I Typically Experiment With: Hook type (this is my go-to) Category focus or audience angle Story structure and pacing Your Next Steps: Record a reintroduction video to pin to your profile Complete a 5-video series in one week (goal: just finish it, no pressure on metrics) Choose ONE experiment for the next 30 days with a clear, measurable goal The truth is, no one is watching as closely as you think. They're not auditing your strategy or tracking your experiment. You're the only one who knows this is an experiment. And "failing" content is still data that teaches you something. This is the third episode in my series on falling in love with short form video, and today we're diving into the question everyone's been waiting for: how do I make my videos actually look good? I'm breaking down everything from filming locations to finding your signature style. These are the exact questions I've been answering for clients for over a year now, and I'm sharing all the systems we've built at my agency to help you create polished content without overthinking it. Content studios work great if video is a primary growth channel and you have a solid batching system. But honestly? Filming at home is totally viable and way more flexible. I share my exact setup with tips to create an elevated filming corner or two in your space. Because the truth is, you don't need a $20,000 setup. You just need a natural window light and your phone! The secret is layering. Next, we'll talk about the art of b-roll. You don't need to be filming constantly in order to keep up with content. I'll share the strategy I've used as a homebody who doesn't like to spend all of her time filming while she's out with friends! The Elevation Rule This is huge. Your videos need to be elevated in at least 1 of these 3 ways: Place intentional background, visual interest Personal Presentation outfit, hair, makeup, accessories Production lighting, camera quality, editing You don't need all three! Pick 1-2 that feel sustainable for you. And finally, we'll chat a bit about finding your signature style so people cn't help but keep coming back for me. They want to follow creators whose presence feels like safety—someone who can calm their nervous system and create a space where they feel accepted, no matter how they think or behave. 4th is selective transparency without oversharing. There's a massive difference between sharing intentional behind-the-scenes decisions and just processing your emotions in public with no through line. If your audience can't really describe what you do from memory, your message is getting lost somewhere along the way. In 2026, it's time to find 'your thing,' and become unforgettable to your audience. 'Your thing' can be based in an identity, an idea, a format, or an experience. Whatever you choose should feel like a natural extension of your leadership style, not a box you get stuck in. Identity based "things" may look like the "feminine CEO," or the "celebrity of your niche." These are archetypes that your audience can automatically associate with you. An idea based approach may look more like Mel Robbins "Let Them Theory." These are ideas that you put a name to and they have the power to spread quickly, creating a shared language between you and your audience. A format based approach makes highly binge-able content. You're creating a sense of comfort with your audience by sticking to a recognizable format. This could mean starting every video with the same hook, creating an elongated series, etc. And finally an experience based thing pulls your audience into an embodied experience with you. These can look like specific challenges you're doing with your audience or an activity like a hot girl walk that you take them on. Heading into the New Year, it's time to approach your marketing with a fresh set of eyes. And that doesn't have to mean falling for trends that are all hype with no real returns! Today, I'm walking through the marketing trends that are actually worth your time to take into 2026. Marketing strategies are practically plagued with hype. So what actually works and what should you spend less energy on in the coming year. Here are some trends that I think are more hyped than they're worth: #1: Posting more often Quantity can only get you so far. If you're spending more energy churning out more content instead of deciding how you want to be intention to show up in a way that inspires people to actively support you, it's not energy well spent. #2: Finding better hooks Hooks are tools, not strategies. Don't get me wrong, I love a good hook! But the content has to be meaningful throughout the piece for the hook to mean anything. #3: Trending formats Hopping onto trends online might make for a random viral moment here and there. But it doesn't differentiate your brand from the rest. Finding ways to incorporate a signature style, no matter what kind of content you do, is more important than trend chasing. #4: AI content strategists I've had enough with people telling Chatgpt to create a content plan for them. You need to create a foundational piece of content and then use AI as a content evaluator, not a strategist. #5: Being on all platforms Being on multiple platforms is a good idea if you have a plan, but simply deciding to be active on every platform to increase your chances will likely just end in fragmentation. Content creation is now a non-negotiable marketing skill that every CEO needs to adapt to. So how do you actually grow your audience without feeling like you're cosplaying an influencer instead of being a business owner? We have to start seeing marketing and content creation as 50% of the business. It's literally the main way that most CEOs are growing their businesses these days. So there are 3 main types of posts that I want to expand on today: Big viral moments (brand awareness and brand reach) Mini viral moments (reaching adjacent communities) Micro-viral moments (deepening current communities) Half the time, when we think of content that is growth oriented, we're trying to hit all three areas. We want it to go mega viral, reach relevant adjacent communities, and deepen our current community all at the same time. This thing is, that's just not how things typically work. So many people are still looking at content on a binary scale. Like, you're either a content creator or a business owner. But backing yourself into a corner where you're only identifying with one archetype actually does have it's cons. Whether you're a creator, an influencer, an online business owner, or a thought leader, their are pros and cons to each approach. What is the archetype that we wanna co-create in order for you to actually work towards growing your audience in 2026? Personally, I've found the "founder archetype" to be a really beneficial framework to create a nice balance. If you've ever felt like your email list is too small to matter or wondered what to actually say to the people on it, this episode is about to change the way you think about email marketing. I sat down with Amy Porterfield - yes, that Amy Porterfield - to talk about list building, storytelling, and staying consistent, especially when your list feels like it's barely getting started. Amy went from working in the corporate world for Tony Robbins to becoming one of the most trusted teachers in digital marketing. She's the creator of Digital Course Academy, host of the Online Marketing Made Easy podcast, and one of the biggest advocates for growing your business through the power of your email list. Your Email List Is Where the Magic Happens As Amy says, social media is rented land. Your email list is the only platform you truly own. If you have even one subscriber, talk to that person like you're writing just for them. Your list will make you money over and over again, but you have to do the work to grow it. Amy's simple steps: Get clear on who you want to serve and how you want to serve them. Create a freebie (lead magnet) that solves one small problem. Set up your CRM and get that freebie out there. Promote it often! Talk about your freebie on social media every single week. Consistency Builds Trust When I asked Amy how to keep showing up in email, her answer was simple: consistency. She sends her newsletter every Tuesday morning, no matter what. Her formula: Start with a story that connects back to the reader. Share two pieces of valuable content from others. Teach something simple and actionable. End with a personal story (and add her podcast link in the P.S.) People open emails from people they trust. And trust is built when your name keeps showing up in their inbox. Storytelling That Sells (Without Feeling Salesy) Amy shared that storytelling has become one of the most powerful tools in her emails. When people feel seen and understood, they stick around. And they buy. She often shares stories between her email and social platforms. If a story performs well in one place, she uses it in the other. Stories make your audience feel connected, and connection builds conversion. From Email Subscriber to Buyer So how do you actually move people from your list to paying customers? Keep showing up. Tell stories that build trust. Send more than one promo email - your audience needs to hear from you multiple times. Let your personality shine through every message. And if you don't know where to start? Create a simple email template to guide you every week, and do a brain dump in a Google Doc of every story or lesson you could share. Amy reminded me of something she learned from Tony Robbins — and something I've said many times myself. Growth comes from being uncomfortable. You don't need to be perfect. You just need to start. Do it scared. Do it messy. But do it. If you've been waiting to “get your list ready,” this is your nudge. Start small. Share one story. Send one email. Stay consistent. Your email list doesn't have to be big, it just has to be active.
