What's the first thing you think of when you imagine winter, a cozy snow day, or Christmas? Harry Potter? Us too. If Harry Potter is your ultimate comfort movie and book series, this episode is for you. Karly & Mia have been HP girlies since day one (once again living the same childhood by both reading Harry Potter during recess in middle school.) One serious expectation for their future romantic partners is they must also be fans of the Harry Potter Wizarding World. I mean, isn't everyone's ideal date night binge-watching three HP movies in one night? They'll discuss their favorite scenes from the book (if you've only seen the movies you're a fake fan) and the main differences between the books and movies. Also, please be advised this is a Hermione/Emma Watson stan podcast. Of course, the Reading & Ranting girls have a rant prepared, and will be talking about Harry Potter headcanons, hot takes, and the ultimate Harry Potter question: are the books or movies better? Happy reading besties!

It is time for another magical episode about a film franchise, albeit not as long standing or even particular sturdy one. While we all want to talk about multiverses and strange doctor men, first I gotta get my notes out there to you on not only the latest Fantastic Beasts film, Secrets of Dumbledore, but also the middle less than stellar entry, The Crimes of Grindelwald, and of course the original. So let's take a trip all the way back to 2016 when we were just excited for Eddie Redmayne and a new Harry Potter/Wizarding World movie. These may not be perfect, but I have a soft spot for all three, especially when Jude Law is on screen or any of the three actors in their take on Grindelwald. And of course, Dan Fogler is a champ in these and brings so much fun to this period-piece historical fiction franchise that while I want five movies, will most likely be done at three, just hopes and dreams like the Ayer Cut, the Snyderverse, and the 6 hour Andy Muschietti cut of It! But let's take a look at all three of these, and see the good, and yes, the bad, of them. And of course let's chat on them all on social @NickNackMovies or @NickNack_IC on Twitter, Instagram, Tik Tok, and Letterboxd!

It's time for an almost friendly debate about fandom. Not from the perspective of the actual content of the franchises, but where it really matters, money. Star Wars and the Harry Potter Wizarding World are two of the biggest franchises in history, both with nearly unlimited merchandise, games, and theme parks, but which one is actually the best. Harry Potter has become a worldwide sensation, and yet Percy Jackson and the Olympians, a similar and just as well-written series, hasn't. Today Maggie and Kiara explore the possible reasons why Harry gets the limelight, and whether Percy Jackson deserves more credit than it's given. On the 37th episode of Piecing It Together co-host Chad Clinton Freeman and I discuss the newest entry in the never-ending Harry Potter universe, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. I come at this episode as a complete beginner to the Harry Potter Wizarding World, but while Chad has only recently dived into this universe, he actually helped put on a giant festival around the fandom called Ironton Wizardfest, so he was uniquely positioned to talk about this one. Puzzle pieces include Star Wars, Transformers, Pokemon and Batman.
