Join Greg Alba and Tara Erickson as they journey into the magical world of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007). Directed by David Yates, the fifth installment follows Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe, Swiss Army Man, Now You See Me 2) as he returns to Hogwarts for his tumultuous fifth year, where darkness looms both inside and outside the castle walls. As the Ministry of Magic denies Voldemort's return (Ralph Fiennes, Schindler's List, The Grand Budapest Hotel), Harry finds himself isolated and burdened by secrets. Determined to take control of his destiny, he rallies his fellow students to form Dumbledore's Army—a courageous group led by the brilliant Hermione Granger (Emma Watson, Beauty and the Beast, The Perks of Being a Wallflower) and the loyal Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint, Knock at the Cabin, Snatch). En este episodio estaré hablando de la segunda entrega de Fantastic Beasts titulada The Crimes of Grindelwald. El filme está disponible en HBO Max.
Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today we're discussing the Fantastic Beasts films. Specifically- the performance of Grindelwald by actor's Johnny Depp and Mads Mikkelsen. Now, when the Fantastic Beasts films first hit theatres, in spite of our awareness of Grindelwald's presence, we were all (at first) under the impression that the main antagonist was going to be Percival Graves, played by Colin Farrell. However, towards the end of the film it is revealed that Percival Graves was actually Gellert Grindelwald, played by Johnny Depp, in disguise. With that said, we only witness Depp's Grindelwald for a very brief period in this film. After the first film had ended and Grindelwald's true identity had been revealed, Depp ended up reprising his role as Grindelwald in 2018s Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. In this film, we got much more of a look in to Depp's portrayal of the famous dark wizard, and I certainly wasn't disappointed.
We're doing something a little different this week, we're taking a look at the Fantastic Beast Trilogy (so far, maybe? idk!). Oscar and Carl go through the three films: ‘Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them','Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald', and ‘Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore' to figure out whether this series should continue, but also to figure out who would watch this.
Hace rato que no hablabamos del mundo mágico de Harry Potter, y se nos pasaron de largo dos películas. Buena, una, porque la otra es reciente. Acompañado por Eze y MaGnUs, nuestro potterhead favorito, Chris, viene a hacer RE: seña de Fantastic Beasts - The Crimes of Grindelwald y Fantastic Beasts - The Secrets of Dumbledore. Pocas bestias, poco Newt, menos alegría, más caras sombrías. Además, repartimos músicos famosos en casas de Hogwarts, hablamos mal de JKR, y mucho más. Con música de James Newton Howard, y Ozzy Osbourne. Próximo programa: Sopapo Oriental - The Paper Tigers.
We are back with the sequel to Fantastic Beasts and discussing the movie in length, but also a HUGE rant about the Wizarding World thus far, so please join us on this journey...Thanks!

It's been four years since this film came out, and rewatching it now - it's great? Our discussion runs through a dozen improvements and recalibrations that make this matured, focused sequel so much more effective than its predecessor. We debate the believability / convenience of "fantastic beasts" being tied to each new development of the plot. Cam analyzes Grindelwald's politics and the vague, veiled, faux-inspirational salesmanship of fascism. Maggie tries to figure out what, if anything, the Leta Lestrange and Nagini subplots accomplished. Then we come together to absolutely, 100% reject the big Creedence / Dumbledore reveal and explain why it's just another chess move from Grindelwald, the guy who the entire rest of the franchise establishes as a "silver-tongued" master manipulator who should never ever be listened to or trusted or believed. Duh. Join us next Tuesday for our coverage of Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore! Feedback & Theories: secondbreakfastpod@gmail.com Instagram & TikTok: @secondbreakfastpod

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore is sinds 6 april eindelijk te zien in de bioscopen! Volgende week bespreken we deze film, maar we nemen eerst de vorige films nog eens onder de loep. In 2018 kwam Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald uit. We're diverting slightly for this week's Spooky Linings entry to tackle another film in the Wizarding World Universe. From the sinking of the Titanic to visions of Auschwitz, there's simultaneously a lot and nothing at all happening in 2018's Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald - a movie that's 2 hours too long. We'll try to make sense of the non-sensical timeline this film establishes, plus how to identify evil children early on, the problematic takes that have been spewing from JK Rowling's mouth recently, the secret dark side of the Niffler, and much more with returning guests Michael Moss and Jennie Lee!Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald stars Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Dan Fogler, Jude Law, Ezra Miller, Johnny Depp, Zoë Kravitz, Callum Turner, Claudia Kim, and Carmen Ejogo.
