Heather Lloyd, an education expert with over two decades of experience under her belt, graces us with her presence and in-depth knowledge in our latest conversation. We confront the controversial topic of grading in the realm of classical Christian education, questioning whether it truly measures academic mastery or if we should be focusing on instilling wisdom and virtue in our students. Navigating the murky waters of grading, we discuss its historical context and its influence on education shaped by our culture. We attempt to dissect if an overemphasis on grades might be causing more harm than good and how parents and teachers should deal with them. As we delve further into the subject, Heather provides invaluable insights into the role of grades in education, helping us understand how they can be an effective tool in assessing not just academic growth, but also character development. We also explore how the coaching philosophy can transform a classroom into a space for collaboration, discovery, and safety. This approach, often dubbed 'soft grading' allows students to learn and practice before being put under the scanner of test grades. Lastly, we touch upon the impact of grades on college admissions and discuss ways to translate the academic performance of students into a 'resume' that accurately reflects their mastery over the subject. This episode is a must-listen for parents, teachers, and anyone invested in the education of our future generations. Tune in to this compelling conversation - you won't want to miss it!

We all have distracting or addictive behaviors, and much of the time they come with labels, shame and judgement. You want to change but can't admit to yourself or others that you have a problem and need some help. You may even feel like you are the only one who is struggling, or that you are weak. In this #jammingwithjason #podcast episode I talk with Heather Lloyd who had a 20 year alcohol career and now is an alcohol freedom coach. We discuss her journey, societal issues surrounding alcohol, and how you can free yourself from things that no longer serve you. What if you were more self-aware, considered the messages and marketing you are receiving, made more empowering choices for you, and then celebrated your wins instead of beating yourself up when you fall off the wagon? If alcohol no longer serves you, before you put that bottle to your head and pull the trigger, check out this episode to see how you can become alcohol free. And even if alcohol isn't your issue, we all have distracting or addictive behaviors that you can conquer following the same steps Heather discusses in this episode. First up on The Stable I speak with Colts.com writer Heather Lloyd, you can find most of her stuff on ‘The Colts Roundup’, she can also be found on twitter @TheBlueMare. Heather takes a deep dive into a season review, she tells me who really stepped up to lead the Colts behind the scenes. She shares some stories about locker room personalities and gives us an insight into the player’s fashion. A great interview as always I encourage you not to miss out. The NFL Scouting Combine just wrapped up this week here in Indianapolis. While some players stood out others seemed to crash and burn and hurt their overall draft stock. The best thing to do after the Combine is go back and watch more tape on players you may not have looked carefully enough at. I took a second look at some of the players who impressed me at this years combine like A.J. Brown, Miles Boykin, Montez Sweat and Amani Oruwariye. I put together my list based on who the Colts should be targeting in this years draft. Of course there were also some disappointments that I had high on my draft board. Deandre Baker and Riley Ridley are good examples.  Free Agency is right around the bend. There are a lot of Colts players that have yet to be re-signed and some future Colts waiting to be signed. With names like Dontrell Inman, Matthias Farely, Landon Collins, and Trey Flowers there are a lot of interesting choices that Ballard may make in Free Agency. Listen in for my free agency wish list!
