Good morning and good coffee! What kind of sacrifice does Jesus desire? Money? Blood? Fruits or Grains? Funny enough we have yet to have the Krookodile family appear in Pokémon Go. With ground type wonders like Groudon and Landerous already in the game it's tempting to just assume that it'll be dex-filler. But based on what we can predict it to learn when it's finally release, this Pokémon may actually have a very strong role in the higher levels of Go Battle League, like Ultra League. How? Let's speculate and find out. We are continuing our exposition of the Gospel According to Matthew. We call this series: The Kingdom of God. Matthew's Gospel contains the repeated affirmation of the rule and kingship of the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus comes on time and as planned. His coming is not a "plan B" in the redemptive purposes of God within history. With that said, we must remember that the Old Testament promised that God was going to do something in history that changed the shape of history, people, and the world... forever. The Messiah was to rule in history. This rule would be redemptive in nature: it was about salvation. This salvation would extend to the ends of the earth and would bring forth the light of God, justice, and the law of God (Isaiah 2, 9, 11, & 42). The Lord Jesus sits upon the Mount and begins to pronounce His blessings of divine happiness upon His people. The Beatitudes wrap up with something that ought to give us a moment or two of meditation and thoughtful reflection. We are the preservative of the world. We are the means of God's grace for the darkness scattering and fleeing once and for all from the world. This is big. This little section says something about God's purpose for the people of God in the world. He means to use us for something. The truth that Jesus saves sinners must never been relinquished or abandoned. However, the lie that Jesus simply saves sinners must be repudiated and rejected with horror. God is remaking the world in Jesus Christ. Jesus is the beginning of the New Creation. We are all new creations in Jesus Christ. God intends on reshaping the world through the means of His people: the church. How? Let's open His Word. Soli Deo Gloria! Jeff Durbin Lead Pastor/Elder Sunday, September 13, 2015

In this world where we have developed ourselves so hard training ourselves with the separation between us and our desired results, the separation has been necessry. In the new world, it is what we try to melt down first to ultimately keep our power within us, not to give that away for the society system we have made as a result of fighting against each other. How? Let's do it together.

Episode 7 of the most dangerous business podcast in the world! Not sure how they haven’t taken us off the air yet, but we still on the air for now, so let’s go... It doesn’t matter where you start or where you are right now. Where do you want to go? Who do you want to become? And what is the price you are willing to pay to get there? Review of the Week Real quick... before we hit the review of the week, I wanted to announce that thanks to you guys, Game of Grow has crossed our first 5000 downloads in less than 4 weeks (there is a chance we hit 6000 in the month) and also made it across 70 reviews, so shout out to you guys. I believe it’s about 72 reviews, so who is going to get us to 75, or to 100, let me know. All thanks to you guys, and I think I mentioned this last time, we are featured in New & Noteworthy across 6 Categories and Subcategories: Business, Marketing, Health, Self Help, Education, and Training… and it’s all thanks to you guys subscribing, reviewing, and spreading the word. I mean I’d love to think it’s because I’m just that handsome, but that is unfortunately not the reason. Maybe it should be, but it’s not. And by the way all of this helps to make this an attractive platform for amazing people like Rohan to come share with us if and when we decide to invite guests into our space. Also, in my app business, after numerous setbacks and false starts I have a couple of apps that should be ready to roll soon that I am excited about. We are taking things to a different level and creating products for a specific community that I happen to belong to. So I’m super excited about that. I also have another one in testing. It’s only the first day (we were supposed to start last week, but the analytics were not set up correctly… 4 times was apparently the charm for us, and now they are), but I have never seen numbers like this. Numbers are looking very good. So I am excited… but at the same time it is only day one, so who knows. But he have got to make this one work. Guys, it is always a process and you just have to keep going until you make it. This week’s review comes from Roberts RN BSN, who says: Biz lessons that usually go unsaid "Thanks so much for sharing business lessons that typically go unsaid. So many in these internet streets teach the false story of "just manifest and wake up to six figures". I love how in the maid service episode Rohan shared we have to "choose our hard ". In short working 40 years in a job that does not allow real freedom is hard, and so is starting a business, choose the type of hard, as nothing worth having is easy. I have made my choice. Keep up the great work. -Amelia R." And guys… after you subscribe and leave your review, please email me at hi@gameofgrow.com to let me know that you did. And I actually want to throw in a sweetener… because life is about incentives, right? (I don’t know if that’s true… but it sounds good) In my vault here, I have about 6 never before released super top secret conversations I’ve had with 6, 7, and yes even 8 figure entrepreneurs who happen to be friends of mine within my network, and within the powerful, shadowy, and secretive Game of Grow community. When you hit me up at hi@gameofgrow.com and let me know that you are not only a subscriber, but also a reviewer, I am going to provide you EXCLUSIVE behind the scenes access to these conversations which you cannot get anywhere else… and trust me, they are full of GOLD that you can apply that can help you. That’s right, I am sweetening the pot! When you subscribe, leave a review, and email me at hi@gameofgrow.com I am hooking you up with something that is really going to help you that you can’t get anywhere else. I’ll keep this offer open a couple days, but probably not forever, so don’t sleep... I also have one 9-figure conversation in the vault, but sorry, I can’t release that one. He’s kind of shy. I’m sorry! Alright, so moving on… If you are new here, welcome! If you are a returning Grow Getter, welcome back! Either way, you could be anywhere in the world right now, but you are here with me, and I will never take that for granted, so I promise to give you everything I’ve got. On This Episode... On today’s episode…. We are tackling another listener question…. Jay from DC writes… "What would you say is the number 1 skill or attribute needed to be a successful entrepreneur?" I love this question, because as you know, I do believe it is all about building skills. Without skills, you will not win. You can meet the right people, be in the right places, have all the popularity and social media followers that you want, but if you do not have the skills… to pay the bills… that is alright, but you better start working on that But getting back to the question at hand… “What is the #1 skill or attribute needed to be a successful entrepreneur” In some ways, one could say that this is kind of a gotcha question. In entrepreneurship, as with anything, there are so many critical factors that come together to comprise one’s success or failure We can talk about selling…. If you recall in episode 3, I talked about a “business” I started after college with an alum of my school. We wanted to change the education industry in a small way. We wanted to take the college consulting services that he was providing to wealthy families for thousands of dollars a pop and offer a mass market version for $25, and we even had fee waivers for families who needed them so they would be able to get them for free. Everything was wonderful. Product looked nice, and generated some very pretty, and even potentially useful reports. When we talked with students, parents, faculty, administrators, everyone loved this product, but when it came time to sell and we started rolling things out, I learned that we did not have a viable sales and marketing plan. We did not know how to make sales. I would be surprised if we grossed more than a few hundred dollars total after all that work and all those magnificent team lunches and dinners, and the product soon died a natural death. RIP CollegeChances.com. A lot of us get started in business because we want to be creative, and creativity is important, but if you don’t developer the ability to influence a customer to give you money in exchange for your thing, if you cannot make sales, if you do not perform transactions, you do not have a business. What you have is an expensive hobby. You need to be able to sell. Valuable lesson. In addition to selling, we can also talk about action taking… having a bias for action. People often think it’s about money… access to capital, but it’s not. Yes, some opportunities require more money than others, but mostly this is an excuse or a crutch that people rely on not to act... and most of the time they may not even know it. You can have the perfect plan, the perfect advisors, all the resources, everything laid out for you and still be reasoning and rationalizing about it, while someone else is taking action with the exact same resources and information or even less… And guess who is going to get more results faster. And I am not just talking about other people. I am talking about myself too In my own experience, when I started with apps, even after I made a decision and a commitment like we talked about in episode 4, I STILL found myself falling into this trap as well, and trying to think of the perfect idea, perfect plan… and generally just overthinking a whole lot of details that in reality had very little bearing on my success. In retrospect, my actions (or lack of actions) were actually a little ridiculous based on what I was SAYING I wanted to accomplish, but I still see it all the time. Thankfully I was part of a community group of people who were going through this app course together, and I was able to witness some of them moving forward, taking action, and getting results. And it’s not even like all of their actions were of the best quality, or all of their apps were masterpieces, but they were moving forward and doing things, and as a result, things were happening for them, they were getting results, they were making money, and they were getting better. Last week on Episode 6, Rohan introduced us to a blueprint that has worked for him and others. A lot of us were fascinated and intrigued and started to think about it. Many fewer of us actually took action. And by the way, that’s actually why I decided to go through with it. Do I need another thing to do and another business to work on? No! It would probably be better for me to focus on what I’m already doing. But aside from the fact I think it will be super cool to start a business I have no experience in live on a podcast, I want to show you guys what it looks like to get the blueprint to success, and implement that blueprint with no hesitation. And plus I love the fact that it is a super practical and tangible type of business everyone can understand and relate to, as opposed to the app business where sometimes people will get a bit more intimidated. So yeah… Taking action is super important… But yet that is not the #1 skill we are talking about today! I could have mentioned resilience, or ability to deal with ambiguity, as I’ve alluded to or told you directly about so many of the things I have tried that have not worked, and all of the lessons I’ve learned from them… as much as it is not that fun at the time,BUT EVEN STILL…we can do better! We are looking for the number 1 skill, attribute, success factor required to succeed as an entrepreneur…. And I will say, that it is kind of cheating, in the same way that when a genie asks for your three wishes, you’re always going to ask for unlimited wishes as one of your wishes unless you are just stupid or overly “rules following”, but I digress... this skill is the master key, so you need this skill. Start working on this skill right away. … but first before I reveal the skill, I want to tell you a quick story… When I was first starting out in the app business, I had no idea how to build a mobile app, I had no idea how to market them, I didn’t code them (I still don’t). What I knew was what I saw in front of me… other people who were not special, who were no different from me were able to create and launch these apps that their customers could enjoy and so they had success with them. They weren’t special, but they learned how to do it. They had knowledge and a blueprint. They learned the steps, and they executed against those steps. As obstacles arose, they figured out ways to deal with them and adjusted, and if they stayed consistent enough, eventually they had success. Because I saw them do it, I knew it was possible, and if it was possible for them it had to be possible for me. I just needed to learn the steps, execute the steps, and adjust on the fly, so that’s what I did, and eventually I started to have success and more success. But that does not mean that I was set forever or that things would not change. Things ALWAYS change. Later on down the road, to make a long story short… Apple made some adjustments to their platform and the way things were working. I don’t even remember exactly what they were in this case, but my business was over reliant on some of these factors and so were the businesses of a lot of the people I knew. Over the course of 2 days, the revenue I was making literally cut in half. It was shocking. I was shell shocked. Although I was still “doing well” and making good money, it was shocking to me that I could lose half of my progress practically overnight. And I kind of went into a shell for a while and did not want to act. A lot of people exited the business at that time. Thankfully after a bit of time passed I was speaking with one of my friends who was also in the business, who I had helped out in the past, and whereas everyone else was in turmoil, he seemed to be having as much success as he had ever had and more. And he talked me through what he was doing at a high level. And then he offered a beta version of his App Store Optimization Course (and if you don’t know what App Store Optimization, or ASO is, don’t even worry… just know that he had a different, and more in depth approach than anything I had seen before) And so I paid for this course, I immersed myself, and eventually I emerged with new skills and abilities, and my business went up. Things are always going to change and winners find ways to deal with that change and excel. And even more recently, the app game has changed again… many indie entrepreneurs have exited again, and yet there are some people, including some of my students who continue to get results and excel. How…? Let me tell you another quick story. And I wrote about this one on Facebook and some other platforms (find me @gameofgrow) The story: For the last couple months, been working on a new app project I'm excited about because I know it will bring value to my community as well as fun, profit, and fulfillment for me. Surprisingly, it turns out these things are not always easy... Hit a big setback this weekend and was so pissed and frustrated I could barely sleep Saturday night. Anyone else get like that sometimes...? Woke up Sunday morning with a new (but yet old) perspective and decided to smile. Anyone trying to do anything will face resistance, but I get to choose whether to feel sorry for myself & quit or cry about it a little and then figure out how I'll still win. Finding problems is easy, but finding solutions pays. Which one do you think I chose? And which will you choose next time it's your turn? So because you guys are my podcast fam.. My Game of Grow Movement fam, I am going to let you in behind the scenes and let you know exactly what happened. We were working on this app project, things were going great (at least I thought they were), and midway through the developer I was working with decided he could not continue… he did not have the passion for this anymore (not sure what that had to do with anything)… and he quit on me. This was a project I had been very excited about. I wanted to start the year right with proper momentum, I wanted to have this done in January, and ready by the time we launched Game of Grow so you guys could hear about it. I had put money and time into this and things were just not turning out the way I wanted here And of course, after I stopped being a baby about the whole thing (I gave myself a whole night to do this) I accepted that the whole thing was ultimately my fault as a leader, and chose that rather than look at the problem, which is really easy, I was going to find a solution. I evaluated the options for everything I could possibly do, and then I took action and moved forward aggressively and as a result, things are in a much better place right now and we’ve been able to turn that one failing project into 2 promising projects we are bringing to market in the near future. So I’ve told you 3 disparate mini stories, but what is the point, and what is the #1 skill you need as an entrepreneur. That skill would be mindset. In her book “Mindset”, Carol Dweck (and I would highly recommend you read it, or at least read the first 2 chapters) introduces the concepts of a fixed mindset and a growth mindset and really dives into them deeply. But if I wanted to save you a whole bunch of time, I would boil it down to saying that when you embody a fixed mindset, you believe certain skills and attributes are fixed, whether it be intelligence, mathematical skill, dancing ability, and the list goes on… whereas when you embrace the GROWTH MINDSET, you KNOW you can ultimately learn anything at all, because human beings are the ultimate adaptation machine. Now I am not saying that talent doesn’t matter, and I am not saying it will be easy, or that everything is equally easy for everyone, but I am saying that you know you can learn absolutely anything if you are willing to put in the work over time. As we often say on the Game of Grow. It’s not about where you start or where you are right now. It’s about where you want to go, who you want to become, and the price you are willing to pay to get there. We are essentially talking about developing a Growth Mindset. And I am not saying you have to hear me right now, and be all the way there today… I mean it would help if that was the case, but I am saying that I do believe that if you want to be an entrepreneur, this is THE foundational skill you want to work to develop, because it’s going to allow you to unlock everything else over time… and depending on what it is you’re trying to accomplish, there are going to be a hell of a lot of skills you’ll need to unlock. Can you see how this would be an invaluable skill? Mindset is the thing, and we all need to work on it continually. It is that one master skill or master ability that is going to allow you to access all the other skills. And to help you out, I have put together a little Mindset Starter Kit. It is something I give to all of my App Moguls, so go to gameofgrow.com/mindset and I am going to get you set up. Sports have always been fueled by statistics...the numbers that tell you who is doing well, both individually and as a team. Bookies rely on stats to determine spreads, as do managers to select their teams. Recent years have seen technology blow the roof off on the amount of data that is available, giving team owners, coaches/managers, and the players themselves the ability to fine tune performances to previously unseen levels. HOW CAN BUDDHA CHANGE INDIAN POLITICS? Buddha is a spiritual personality and not belongs with politics. Although I explained here – How can Buddha change Indian Politics? I think Buddha influencing on Indian politics. Not towards communalism but towards revolution and communism. How it can be possible? Let me explain. HOW CAN BUDDHA CHANGE INDIAN POLITICS? Now a day’s Majority of Indian population are Hindus. And 15 % of Hindus are upper castes. And in Upper caste you can find Capitalists, Feudalistic and Patriarchal Males are ruling population of the country.Upper caste people are involved in teaching Brahmanism (fascist things) to people since 2000 years. They are using Manusmriti (law of Brahmanism) to implement Brahmanism. That’s why Indians are became mental slaves of Upper caste people.Due to that majority Indians are following lots of superstition, defective ritual, conventions and traditions, casteism, bigotry, predestination etc. You can find here many atrocities, riots, violence, discrimination against Lower castes (like Dalit, Tribes, Nomadic tribes & Shudras), minorities (like Muslims, Christians) and women as well as LGBT people.Although this situation is happened here. If majority people accept Buddhism and reject Brahmanism then situation will change towards political revolution. How? Let me explain – How can Buddha change Indian Politics?

Procrastination is bad, right? Well, not quite. If you break up a project, you're likely to find most projects have five distinct sections. To get to the end of the project, you're going to need a form of managed procrastination. But how do you go about this form of procrastination? And why is it seemingly better to keep you focused? Let's find out in this episode, shall we? Read the transcript online: #165: How to use procrastination to your advantage --------------- Imagine you're sitting down late at night to get ready for your presentation the next day. And you find your slide deck is empty. That's precisely what happened to me when I was conducting a workshop in California many years ago. Usually, I'm very thorough, making sure everything is in order at least four-five days before we board the flight. This time, however, I'd somehow put off what I needed to do, confident I'd have enough time when I got to the U.S. When preparing for workshops, I go through my slides anywhere between 10-15 times, and complete full run-throughs at least thrice, on the day before. So how come the slide deck was empty? Our workshops usually span three days or more, and the slides for Day One were just as they needed to be. But who looks for Day Two slides on Day One? Not me, at least. Which brings us right to the evening of the first day, when I sat down to prepare myself for Day Two. That's when I realised many of the slides had incomplete information. Procrastination doesn't have a good rap. And rightly so. Just because we've pushed something out into the future, doesn't mean it's gone away. In fact, there's a good chance that unfinished task is a mega-energy drainer. If I have to go for a medical checkup, and I can see that white slip in front of me, it bugs me. If you need to finish writing that chapter in your book, you spend enormous amounts of energy just pushing that task out on a future to-do list. However, there are times when procrastination can be good for you. In this series, we'll cover three points: 1) How Deadline-Based-Procrastination Helps Formulate Better Thoughts 2) How Procrastination Can Help Manage the Email Deluge 3) Why Procrastination Can Be Good For Energy Levels (And When It’s Bad) 1) How Deadline-Based-Procrastination Helps Formulate Better Thoughts In 1966, there was a study on the Ju/’hoansi bushmen that wander around the borderlands between Namibia and Botswana. It found that the bushmen only worked seventeen hours a week, on average, to find their food. An additional nineteen hours were spent on domestic chores and activities. In all, their 36-hour week might seem pretty excessive when you consider that most working people aim for a 40 hour week. However, our week is a lot longer Even back in 1966, a comparable week in the United States was roughly double. 40 hours were spent at work, and about thirty-six, on average, on domestic labour. Today, adults employed full time in the U.S. report working an average of between 47-50 hours per week. That's more than a whole working day as compared with 1966. All of this extra work only means one thing The working brain of the Ju/’hoansi and the busy business owner in Beijing, is similar. But the demands on energy, distractions and travel have made procrastination an imposing part of our lives. Even if you were to go back just to my father's time. He ran a business, a secretarial college and while he put in a long workday from 8 am to 8 pm, he didn't have Facebook or a mobile phone. Once he got on his train at night, he'd be eating roasted peanuts and nodding off as he made his way back home. In comparison, we have to battle all sorts of crazy stuff, just to get through the day. It's inevitable that as our energy depletes, our procrastination levels skyrocket. Even so, procrastination can be a great ally when it comes to formulating thoughts Take this article for instance. I write most of my articles within 5000bc, right in the forum, on forum software. Which means every member of 5000bc can see the progress of the article. This article, for example, started on 19th September. It was just an announcement of the article. By the 20th, I'd only managed the three topics I was going to cover. As the 21st makes its way to another sunset, four paragraphs are in place. And then there's a “to be continued” added to the unfinished piece. If you look at this form of article writing, you can either consider it to be procrastination or progress. I think it's procrastination and it's good when you're trying to maximise your creativity Creative work, according to Hungarian psychologist, Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, there are five steps to getting to a sort of finish point. They are: Preparation Incubation Insight Evaluation Elaboration When you and I look at that list, there are five whole levels of procrastination Tiny tasks would blur those five elements together in a matter of seconds. However, the moment you have to write an article, compose some music, or even put that plant you bought last week, it all requires five chunky steps. Trying to rush a project of some complexity through those stages, is likely to be counterproductive. Even so, every stage of the procrastination process needs to be long enough, but not so long that you completely forget about it. The bigger the project, the more likely you're to push it to the back burner and then it just lies in a corner, unfinished. Properly managed procrastination seems paradoxical Procrastination by its very nature is putting off something for the future because you don't want to deal with it right now. Managed procrastination, however, is where you do a tiny bit, then put off the rest for just a little while. In some cases, you may start on the task in the morning, and continue your task a lot later in the day. For other tasks, it might be a lot better to hit the pause button until the next day. While you're seemingly stuck on the pause button, your brain will come up with different angles to solve the problem. If you're writing an article, you'll have different examples, possibly even a different way of expressing yourself. The more significant the task, the more the complexity Writing an article might be no big deal for one person, but for you, it might mean a lot of sweat, tears and a bit of beer too. Even so, professionals tend to have some system that will take them through preparation, incubation, and insight. The job gets done as a first draft, then you come back to evaluation and for some elaboration. The more we find ourselves working through these steps, the greater the procrastination. However, it's a managed form instead of simply putting things off, like we usually do. Distraction has a bad name and rightly so We're off on a tangent when we should be working on our project. Unlike the Ju/’hoansi Bushmen, we have too much to cope with all at once. When you accept distraction as part of your day to day life, procrastination becomes even more vital. You realise that once you're done with a pre-designated chunk of work, you're going to reward yourself with some distraction, so your brain doesn't slip into a downward spiral. Hours later, or even a few days later, you're fresh, filled with a range of ideas and examples (that you no doubt jotted down) and the very same project has a raw new energy. The distraction, unfortunate as it may seem, is not quite so ugly if you plan for it in advance. In previous versions of the Article Writing Course, I'd get clients to write an article every day Then around 2016, someone mentioned that she was taking 3-4 hours to finish the article every night. I was appalled at the idea, because in my mind, clients should be taking between 60-90 minutes at best, to write an article. If you spend 3-4 hours, you merely get exhausted, and the material isn't 300%, and often a lot worse than if you're not so exhausted. Hence I went about re-engineering the Article Writing Course. On Monday, the clients only write topics. On Tuesday they outline the topics. As the week winds its way to Wednesday, they chip away at the article using the system of procrastination. Instead of writing five articles a week, they may end up with just two. However, those articles are of a higher quality, and the student isn't dreading the following week as much. Make no mistake; learning a new skill or working on a project with twists and turns, is never going to be easy. However, slaving your way through it is a silly strategy. Going through several stages makes more much more productive, more valuable content and finished projects. And if procrastination worked for projects alone, it would be wonderful. However, there's another excellent application for managed procrastination. I use it for my e-mail. How? Let's find out. 2) How to use procrastination to deal with the deluge of e-mail. On Sunday nights, I sit down to go through my e-mail. That way when I wake up on Monday, I expect my inbox to be empty or at least sparse. Hah, I should be so lucky. No matter how much you and I deal with e-mail, there's always more coming through. And easily the biggest problem with e-mail is that it drains you. If you're doubtful about this, start up a new e-mail account and look at the vast blankness of that account. Not a single e-mail sits in your inbox in that new account. And if you sneak back later, maybe 20 minutes later, there's still nothing to be seen. Now if only you could make your current inbox so neat and tidy, eh? Well, you can. And it's all a matter of managed procrastination. Email software has gotten very smart over the years and some of it is free, while some of it requires a subscription of some sort. What most modern e-mail software allows you to do is to push e-mail away until it's needed. Maybe someone is requesting an article that I won't tackle until next week. Normally I'd just let it sit in my inbox, because it needs to be done. Or I may put it in a folder that I won't ever see again. But at this point, and because of e-mail software, I can push it away. In other words, procrastination comes to the rescue. On any given day, I'll deal with the urgent e-mails right away. Everything else gets pushed for later. Either later today, which is about 3 hours after reading it, or for the evening, weekend, next week, next month, or at a specific date and time. Like Friday, 29 Sep at 3:13 pm, for example. No matter how important you are as a person, most of your e-mail can be allocated to another time zone, when you're more likely to be able to tackle what needs to be done. For instance, some emails that require more effort, I'll either deal with right now, or push until later. It's hard to say which ones you should keep and which ones you should push away. How you defer your e-mails depends on your work load and your mood. But one thing is clear If you've ever had an inbox with zero e-mails or just a couple of e-mails, you know exactly what I'm talking about. You feel like a burden has been lifted off your shoulders. You feel free. You feel excited—ok, ok, I'll stop. And yet, all this procrastination, managed as it is, may seem like you're just fooling yourself. We all put reminders and alarms and when we're supposed to do the task, we swipe away that reminder. Won't the e-mail that comes back be just an excuse to swipe it away for somewhere in the future? I once had a few e-mails that kept coming back At first I'd send them off for a week, as they were not urgent. But I soon found myself pushing them away for a month. They showed up in the inbox in January, February, then again in March. April, May—which is when I decided I was never going to act on them and simply archived them to pull up, should I ever need them again. If you're never going to read that e-mail now or later, you may as well get rid of it or archive it (because you never know). E-mail is a fact of life We don't expect to get less. We're always going to get more. And it sucks our energy to keep scanning e-mails in our box, often opening some we've already read. Much better to clear up that box so that the e-mails appear later, or as when needed in the future. To get this job done, I used Boomerang for Gmail (which is a paid service and costs about $5 a month). On the Mac, you also have Spark, which does an excellent job and strangely is free. I know nothing about the PC because I walked away from PCs back in 2008, though Boomerang works with Outlook and should be PC-friendly. All e-mail isn't the same Some need to be dealt with right away. Some can do with managed procrastination. Use the procrastination and you'll be more relaxed and you'll have that new e-mail account feeling yet again. Which takes us to the third part—and probably the biggest reason why procrastination helps. 3) Why Procrastination Can Be Good For Energy Levels If you head to Uluru, also known as Ayer's Rock, your first experience as you leave the airport, is an invasion of bush flies. Within seconds they're swarming all over your face and in some misguided effort, you try to get rid of them. Do what you will, but they keep coming and you have the sense of losing the battle. Work can seem a bit like bush flies, at times You try swatting it away, but it comes back with gusto. And as you take on the day, your energy keeps edging downward. That's how our brains function; first at reasonably high efficiency, and then we seem to get slower, even making more mistakes. Procrastination, managed procrastination makes for a great energy reboot. Which is why I'll work for a couple of hours in the morning, then go for a walk. Then I'll work for another couple of hours and then go cook lunch. All of these breaks may well seem like “wasted time” but it's “time well wasted”. But even within that “work time”, I'll mix up activities For instance, I may start writing an article, but then move to answering e-mail, and then to writing detailed answers to questions asked by 5000bc members. Every activity is different and disconnected. The article writing might create the highest demand on my brain, which is when I have to procrastinate after a while. Trying to take on the article on the very same day might be totally counter-productive, so I'll go build the website or go to 5000bc, instead. The activities will vary between high energy and low, all day long. However, in between there's a clear sense of adding chunks of procrastination. Going from one end to the other is seen as focus Most of us revere the concept of focus, but focus doesn't mean that you have to start and finish everything at one go. A lot of activities both work-related and non-work related could all do with the break up of the activity. For instance, when I'm talking a complex dish, I'll make sure I do it in phases. That phase by phase method is really nothing but a form of managed procrastination, and a good use of high energy vs. low energy tasks. Procrastination is often seen as a form of laziness And for some of us, that's just what it can turn out to be. We are either so drained by the activity that lies in front of us that we choose to avoid it, causing a further drain on energy. We know it's still on our to-do list and that drives us crazy, even though it's hard to admit it to ourselves. However, managed procrastination is a whole different kettle of fish. When used well, it can keep your energy high so that at 5 pm every evening you're still raring to go, instead of feeling washed out and unable to do much. Use procrastination to your advantage. Use it to formulate better thoughts and better examples. Use it in your e-mail to keep that inbox clean as a whistle. And finally keep your energy high right through the day by mixing high and low energy tasks, thus using a slightly sophisticated version of procrastination. Next Up: Can Resistance be Beaten? Podcast: Why learning HOW to trade is so importantIn this video: 00:24 – You need to learn HOW to trade first 00:56 – Getting squash lessons 02:52 – Investing in your yourself through training and coaching 04:05 – Long term investment in your future 04:28 – I’ve been teaching traders worldwide since 2009 05:06 – Three important letters “HOW”Let's talk about why learning "HOW" to trade is so important. Let's get into that right now.Hi Forex Traders! Andrew Mitchem here, The Forex Trading Coach. Today is video and podcast number 211.You need to learn HOW to trade firstI'm going to talk about something really important. It's all about the importance of learning how to trade. It's that there's so many parts of trading, but unless you actually learn the how to bit, get that bit right, the how to trade. It's an important little word because if you get that right things will be great. If you get it wrong, then you can have all the systems, the accounts, everything, but it will not work for you. Let's explain a little bit more.Getting squash lessonsTo give you an example, just this week I've taken up learning how to play squash. I used to play about 20 years ago when I didn't have grey hair. I'm looking at something to do that's going to help keep me fit and something that I haven't done for awhile and I thought, "I'd love to get back into some squash." What did I do? First thing I did is I went along to a club and I had a chat with them, worked out what the membership was going to cost me for the year. Then I thought, "Actually, I need to get to be taught how to play." Again, it's the "How To". Get that bit right. The learning with a mentor, with a squash coach, is actually going to cost me more money than the annual membership of a really good local club. Some people might just think that's absolutely crazy and think that's ridiculous. Why would you just pay someone to do that when you can just get out there, and get a ball and a racket, and hit away, and off you go?Yes, I could do that, but of course I'm probably not going to progress very far and I'm going to end up getting frustrated because my skill level will be just about the same. It may improve a bit. It may go backwards. Who knows, but it's not going to give me what I really want. To me, investing in someone to help teach me to look at what I'm doing right, what I'm doing wrong, a coach in squash is such a valuable investment because I'm investing in me. I'm investing in my overall enjoyment of the game. Probably going to get myself far better results. Therefore get high rankings, play against better people, progress. All those sort of things. That's what I'm after from it.I'm trying to do it at the very beginning. I don't want to come in with lots of bad habits and then someone's gotta unfix all those bad habits and break all those habits that I've got into.Investing in your yourself through training and coachingTo me, upfront, I'm looking at investing in training and coaching. Trading Forex is absolutely no different. You see people will come to me and they go, "Andrew, how long's it going to take me to pay off your course if I've got a thousand dollar account?" To me it's like, it's almost like it's not relevant. Don't take that the wrong way, but take it and think of it, don't get offended by that comment. Think of it a different way. Turn it right around. You could have a million dollars in your trading account, but if you don't know how to trade, if you don't know what you're doing, you're going to lose some money on that account. Likewise, if you've got a thousand dollars in your account and you go, "Why would I want to go and spend fifteen hundred, two thousand dollars on a coaching course when I've only got ...
What use is an F-call? We are part of an amazing hobby where inventiveness, inquiry and exploration is part and parcel of the thing we do. It's that spirit that got me interested in this hobby and fortunately I have enough friends in the hobby who share that view. Unfortunately, this hobby seems to also attract a group of nay-sayers, people who are always denigrating others, starting from the perspective of saying No, before asking How? Let's call them the whingers. These are the ones who complain about the ineffectiveness of the WIA, the ones who complain that when the license fee goes down, jump up and down for a refund of their five year payment which they made to save money in case the fees went up. These are the ones who want to quarantine callsigns for "deserving amateurs" but have several and want to have a particular callsign and can't wait until the holder becomes a silent key. The ones who say that F-calls should not be allowed on air, or should have their license expired automatically after 12 months because they must upgrade, the ones who tell people off on air, complain about how a contest is run, or want to continue to submit their contest logs on paper. I could go on, but it's depressing and this is a fun hobby. To all those whingers I say, get real. Stand up, be an amateur and get with the times. It used to be that you were in the forefront of exploration, but now you're just a whinging, whining old man. Join in or get out. To the rest of us, I encourage you to call out these whiners and point out to them that their complaints are misguided at best and downright destructive and malicious at worst. This is a hobby. You're supposed to have fun, laugh, make merry, enjoy the community, learn, explore, and lead the way. Sorry, just had to get that off my chest. I'm Onno VK6FLAB.
