Dr Clark continues the series on the Lord's Supper, Nourish and Sustain. This series explores what the Supper is, why it was instituted, how it has been understood in the history of the church, what Scripture says, how we should understand it, and practice it. The Lord's Supper is one of the two sacraments instituted by our Lord Jesus Christ. A sacrament is a sign and seal of Holy Spirit-given benefits. Where baptism is the sign and seal of initiation into Christ-confessing covenant community, the Lord's Supper is the sign and seal of renewal and personal appropriation of the benefits promised in the covenant of grace. Tragically, since the mid-ninth century at least, holy communion, which is intended to bring Christ's people together, has often been a source of division. Perhaps worse, however, for much of the last one hundred fifty years, the Supper has been much neglected among evangelicals. In this episode, Dr. Clark discusses Peter Martyr Vermigli's Teaching on the Lord's Supper. This episode of the Heidelcast is sponsored by the Heidelberg Reformation Association. Romans 1:18 — When one thinks of God's wrath, they often think of unrelenting rage. There are times in Biblical history when the punishment for sin was met with God's mighty fist and proves this. However, in the sermon “The Wrath of God Revealed,” Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones offers that God's wrath is rather His complete hatred of sin. Romans 1:18 points out that God's wrath against unrighteousness has been revealed with the full authority of God. Dr. Lloyd-Jones outlines several evidences to prove how and when that the wrath is revealed. One evidence is that all people have a sense of right and wrong, and it is found in the conscience which often gives remorse over wrongdoing. God's wrath may be immediate physical consequence of sin or His wrath could be postponed until the appointed time. Regardless of when, God will punish sin. One thing is to be sure, God's wrath will come. It is shown in God's perfect example of sending His Son to the cross. The cross proves that the wrath of God is only satisfied when the wages of sin are paid. The Old Testament illustrates this with the sacrifices that picture what Christ did on the cross. Before the love of God on the cross can be seen, the wrath must first be seen. It is only by understanding the depths of the wrath that one can understand the depths of His love. Touching Lives with Dr. James Merritt

In 1993, Nike faced a crisis when teenage boys stopped buying their shoes. The response was to produce the infamous Charles Barkley commercial where he boldly declared, “I am not a role model…. Parents should be role models.” This sparked a fiery debate, with NBA star Karl Malone saying, “We don't choose to be role models; we are chosen. Our only choice is whether to be a good role model or a bad one.” The truth is, they were both right. Every person is a role model to someone. The question of whether you're a positive or negative role model comes into focus with a statistic like this: 68% of Christians make their decision to follow Jesus before age eighteen. As the Apostle Paul mentored young Timothy to lead the church in Ephesus, he emphasized this important truth in 1 Timothy 4:11-16: One of your primary roles in this generation is to be a role model for the next generation.

Israel has been strategic in its fight with Iran, targeting its proxies like Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis, before going after the source itself, the Islamic Republic. But there is a spiritual strategic operation underway in Iran as well. It's moving under the radar and may do more to bring down the terrorist regime than any bomb or military arsenal. It's the movement to convert the people of Iran. The organization "Transform Iran" was founded by ex-pats, Christians who fled the country soon after the 1979 revolution. Their sole mission and purpose is to reach the people of Iran with the message of the Gospel. On this episode of Lighthouse Faith, Lana Silk, CEO of Transform Iran and the daughter of its founders, talks about the politics of what's happening in Iran as it wages a Holy War against Israel and the West, but also how the more effective victory is the message of Jesus Christ being embraced by the people looking to free themselves from under the oppressive government's control. Silk says while Iran is officially 99.4% Muslim, the reality is fewer than half of the people practice the faith. And in a country where it is illegal to convert from Islam or own a Bible or go to a Christian house church, people are accepting Christ by the thousands. Learn more about your ad choices. I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is the 29th of June, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. I am sitting, looking into the most beautiful picture, the mighty Drakensberg Mountains, which run on the western side of our beloved South Africa and Kwazulu-Natal. There is only one Scripture that comes to mind that I want to share with you today, and it is found in Psalm 121:1-2:“I to the hills will lift my eyes —From whence comes my help?My help comes from the Lord,Who made heaven and earth.”Now, I quoted that Scripture on purpose because if we don't think very carefully about it, it looks like we are saying our strength and our health come from the mountains, but they don't come from the mountains. They come from the One who made the mountains, namely our beloved God and Saviour, Jesus Christ. You see, the Scripture goes like this:I to the hills will lift mine eyes?Where does my help come from?My help cometh from the LordWho made heaven and earthI want to ask you a question this morning, because I have time to meditate, looking at these beautiful blue mountains, partially covered in cloud. Where are you putting your strength? Where are you putting your hope? Is it in the government? Is it in the weather? Is it in the economic situation? Is it in your own physical wellbeing? If it is, you are going to be sorely disappointed in the future. Our hope comes from God alone. The Bible says, “If God is for us, no man will stand against us.” Romans 8:31. Today, looking at these majestic mountains that were formed with one word - that's what He said - I know again that my strength and my help comes from the One who created those beautiful mountains. Today, remember, keep your eyes fixed on Jesus Christ and not even on the mountains!God bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.

Read Online“And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys to the Kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” Matthew 16:17–19Saints Peter and Paul are often referred to as two of the great “Pillars of the Church.” They each played an incredibly essential role in the establishment of the early Church. And though each of their roles was essential and foundational, their roles were as different as they were different as persons.Peter was a family man, a local fisherman, uneducated and quite ordinary. From what we know about him prior to being called by Jesus, there was nothing that made him uniquely qualified to become one of the pillars of the new Church to be established by the Son of God. Jesus simply called him, and he responded. Jesus got into Peter's boat, ordered him to lower the nets, and produced a huge catch of fish. When Peter saw this miracle, he fell down at Jesus' feet and acknowledged that he was “a sinful man” who was unworthy of being in Jesus' presence (See Luke 5:8). But Jesus informed Peter that he would from now on be catching men. Peter immediately left everything behind and followed Jesus.Paul describes himself as “a Jew, born at Tarsus in Cili′cia, but brought up in this city at the feet of Gama′li-el, educated according to the strict manner of the law of our fathers, being zealous for God as you all are this day” (Acts 22:3). Paul was well educated in the strictest interpretation of the Jewish law, understood philosophy and was quite zealous as a young man. Recall, also, that prior to becoming a convert to Christianity, he “persecuted the church of God violently and tried to destroy it” (Galatians 1:13). In many ways, Paul would have been seen as the most unlikely person to be chosen to be a pillar of the Church, because he so vigorously opposed it at first. He even supported the killing of Saint Stephen, the first Christian martyr. Though each of these men would have been considered by many as very unlikely founders of the Christian Church, this is exactly what they became. Paul, after his conversion, traveled far and wide to preach the Gospel, founding several new Churches throughout Asia Minor and Europe. Eventually he was arrested in Jerusalem, brought to Rome for trial and was beheaded. Over half of the New Testament books are attributed to Paul and half of the Acts of the Apostles detail Paul's missionary journeys. Paul is especially known for his missionary activity to the Gentiles, those who were not Jews. Peter's role was truly a unique one. His name was changed from “Simon” to “Peter” by Jesus. Recall Jesus saying, “And I tell you, you are Peter (Petros), and on this rock (petra) I will build my church…(Matthew 16:18). “Peter” in Greek is Petros. However, the Greek word petra means a rock as a solid formation that is fixed, immovable, and enduring. Therefore, Jesus chose to make Peter a solid foundation of immovable rock on which the Church was to be built. You, too, have been called by our Lord to a unique mission within the Church that has not been entrusted to another. In your own way, God wants to use you to reach certain people with the Gospel as He did with Saint Paul. And like Saint Peter, God wants to continue to establish His Church upon you and your faith. Reflect, today, upon these two holy and unique pillars of our Church. As you do, ponder how God may want to use you to continue their mission in this world. Though Saints Peter and Paul are among the greatest and most consequential Christians within our world, their mission must continue, and you are among the instruments that God wants to use. Commit yourself to this mission so that the preaching of the Gospel and the rock foundation of our Church will remain strong within our day and age just as it was of old. Saint Peter, you were uniquely chosen to be a rock foundation of faith upon which the Church was established. Saint Paul, you went forth to preach this faith far and wide, establishing many new communities of faith. Please use me, dear Lord, to continue the mission of Your Church so that the faith may be firmly planted in the minds and hearts of all Your people throughout the world. Gospel Matthew 8:5-17 When Jesus entered Capernaum, a centurion approached him and appealed to him, saying, "Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, suffering dreadfully." He said to him, "I will come and cure him." The centurion said in reply, "Lord, I am not worthy to have you enter under my roof; only say the word and my servant will be healed. For I too am a man subject to authority, with soldiers subject to me. And I say to one, 'Go,' and he goes; and to another, 'Come here,' and he comes; and to my slave, 'Do this,' and he does it." When Jesus heard this, he was amazed and said to those following him, "Amen, I say to you, in no one in Israel have I found such faith. I say to you, many will come from the east and the west, and will recline with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob at the banquet in the Kingdom of heaven, but the children of the Kingdom will be driven out into the outer darkness, where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth." And Jesus said to the centurion, "You may go; as you have believed, let it be done for you." And at that very hour his servant was healed. Jesus entered the house of Peter, and saw his mother-in-law lying in bed with a fever. He touched her hand, the fever left her, and she rose and waited on him. When it was evening, they brought him many who were possessed by demons, and he drove out the spirits by a word and cured all the sick, to fulfill what had been said by Isaiah the prophet: He took away our infirmities and bore our diseases. Reflection Jesus encountered over and over again rejection, rejection and rejection from those engaged in the temple and in the system that the temple taught people to be a part of. But here we see the beauty of what Jesus is really about. He's here to give life to those who care. And we have in the centurion a man who comes forward, a general of the Roman army, and he's worried about his servant, not himself, and he asks for healing for someone else. And he knows that Jesus can do it. And Jesus is so struck by his faith. He's never found any faith like that in all of Israel. It's a beautiful image of how miracles work, how healing works when we care deeply for one another and long for one another to grow and change, and invite God to bless those that we care about and bring them into fullness. That's the Kingdom of God. That's the work we have before us. Closing Prayer Father, relationship with you is not just about us. It is about those you have shared with us, our family, our friends, our circle. Help us always to invite you into the role of using us to be healers of those that we love. A god is whatever we depend on for all good and seek for refuge in distress. One can believe that such good comes from the Triune God, or one could seek it elsewhere. What is your god? Luther warns of mammon, people, skill, power, friendship, and pride. Each of these can easily become a god. However, we know from Scripture that all that is good is from God (Mark 10:18). He is the One who gives us food, drink, nourishment, health, protection, peace, and everything else we need to support this body and life. The objects themselves are not God, but flow from the generosity of the One who gives us all things in Christ (Colossians 1:15-20).  Rev. Saturday, 28 June 2025   For this is he of whom it is written: ‘Behold, I send My messenger before Your face, Who will prepare Your way before You.'  Matthew 11:10   “For this, he is about whom it has been written, ‘Behold, I, I send My messenger before Your face, who, he will prepare Your way before you'” (CG).   In the previous verse, Jesus told the people that they had gone out into the wilderness to see more than a prophet. Now, He continues that thought, saying, “For this, he is about whom it has been written.”   As noted in the previous commentary, this means that a specific prophecy was written about John. Thus, in this instance, he is the subject and fulfillment of the prophecy. The Lord, seeing the ministry of John as a precursor to the coming of Christ, spoke of him.   But He did not only do it through Isaiah as noted in the previous verse. He also spoke of John through the words of Malachi, saying, “Behold, I, I send My messenger.”   The words come from Malachi 3:1, where the Lord speaks first of John as a messenger and then Jesus as the Messenger of the covenant –   “‘Behold Me – Sending My messenger, And turned way to My faces And instantly comes unto His temple, The Lord, whom you seek, And Messenger the covenant, Whom you – delighted. Behold! Coming!' Said Yehovah Sabaoth.” Malachi 3:1 (CG)   John is the messenger sent by the Lord. His ministry was to be “before Your face.”   In other words, another is being referred to by the Lord. It was understood from the prophecy that this would be Israel's Messiah. By taking these words and combining them with the other prophecy about John from Isaiah, a logical deduction can be made –   “The voice of one crying in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the way of the Lord; Make straight in the desert A highway for our God.'” Isaiah 40:3   From these words, the One John was to prepare the way for, was the Lord, Yehovah. Malachi says, “before Your face” concerning the Messiah. Thus, unless one denies a literal reading of the text, it can be deduced that the “Your” is referring to Yehovah. That continues to be seen in the words, “who, he will prepare Your way before you.”   The same word, panah, that is used in Isaiah 40:3 is used in Malachi 3:1. It signifies to turn. In this particular sense, the turning is a form of preparation. Taking both verses and understanding the reference, meaning that of John the Baptist and his work of preparing the way for another, it is understood that he is the herald of the Messiah, who is Yehovah incarnate.   This was the greatness of the ministry of John, and it is one of the reasons why Jesus says that he is more than a prophet. His role in the stream of redemptive history is unparalleled in comparison to any other prophet.   Life application: If you are on the sidelines in your thinking concerning Jesus' deity, you should probably question your salvation. You may have believed in Jesus, but which Jesus were you presented with?   The Jehovah's Witnesses deny the incarnation of Christ. The Jesus they proclaim is not the Jesus of the Bible. The same is true with Mormonism. These heresies, along with other teachings concerning Jesus' deny the truth that Jesus is God incarnate.   However, Scripture clearly presents Him as such. In fact, from an honest reading of competently translated Scriptures, one will come to no other conclusion than the Bible reveals that God would personally intervene in the stream of human existence and restore humanity to Himself.   This may not be fully understood by the reader, but it is a truth that should not be denied. Not fully understanding something does not necessarily equate to unbelief. Paul not only speaks of “another gospel” in Galatians 1:7, but he also refers to both another gospel and “another Jesus” in 2 Corinthians 11:4.   Belief in a false gospel will result in a false security based on a false salvation experience. The gospel conveys the truth that God incarnate, Jesus Christ, accomplished all that is necessary for salvation. Believe this and be saved.   O God, we believe that You united with humanity to restore us to Yourself. We may not understand all that means, but we accept it by faith. You have done it! Thank You, O God, for the coming of Jesus Christ our Lord to redeem us and give us eternal life in You. Amen.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Saturday morning, it's the 28th of June, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in 1 Corinthians 9:27. The Apostle Paul says: “But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.”Oh folks, you and I really need to walk the talk, don't we? People need to see Jesus in us. There is no use in “dropping the ball” every time. I am thinking about ordinary common things like your language. As a follower of Christ, you may not swear anymore. You know I had a terrible vocabulary because when I got uptight as a farmer, I would curse and I would blaspheme, but the amazing thing is, the day that I gave my life to Jesus Christ, I have never sworn since that day. That's a miracle. I have shouted a lot, but I have never, ever blasphemed. We need to conduct our behaviour which is befitting for a Christian. We cannot just do our own thing and say “Well, that's the way I am.” No, we have got to change because people are watching every single move we make. Paul says that is why he disciplines his body and brings it into subjection. You can't stand up in church with your hands in the air and praise God, and then go out and get blind drunk on Friday night and say, “Well, I am under pressure. I just wanted to get a bit of a release.” You can't do that. That's what keeps people out of the church. That is what keeps people from following Jesus. I used to say the same thing in the old days before I met the Lord. I would see some men who would tell me they are Christians, but then their lifestyle was pathetic. They couldn't feed their children, they didn't love their wives, and yet they were telling me to get my life in order, and I used to say to Jill, “If that man is a Christian, I will get to Heaven before he will.” But you see, I made a big mistake. Who said he was a Christian? He said he was, but on the day of judgement each one of us will have to give an account of our conduct. Let us start to discipline our bodies, our minds and our hearts, so that people will come to us and say, “I want what you've got.” And we will say, “What have we got?” “I see peace, I see love, I see acceptance, I see patience, I see Jesus in you.” Let's do it today.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.

Ordained minister, Dr. Dennis Hall, and his special guest Dorothy Little, accomplished Bible teacher and End Times scholar react to CNN's guest referring to Sen. Ted Cruz and Speaker of the house Mike Johnson as rapture preppers. She asserted that there is a whole sect of MAGA porters that support Israel because they want the Jews to be in Israel so that Jesus can come back for the rapture. Dr. Hall and his guest spent some time scribing what the Bible says about the rapture, a time when the Lord will gather his followers to meet with him in the air. The different views regarding the tribulation are also discussed. It is pointed out that Peter in his second letter warns, “Above all you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own desires.” Each of these personalities reacted to the idea that many people believe that everyone who does good will be raptured. As the podcast ends the listeners are advised that their rapture preparation should involve being diligent and vigilant and busy doing the Lord's work. They pointed out that God wants everyone in his heavenly kingdom and that they should not delay in seeking salvation.
