Lisa Thal is an Author, Speaker, and Business Coach. She wrote the book "Three Word Meetings." A Simple Strategy to Engage, Inspire, and Empower Your Team. Lisa coaches leaders on how to take their sales and business meetings to the next level with fun and interesting 3-word topics to get your sales team motivated and inspired. She has over 33 years of sales, marketing, and leadership experience. Episode 080, Does your Life or Business need an IV? Apply this simple four-step strategy to achieving your New Years Resolutions! I am excited to share a simple system I learned from Pete Vargus to make you become one of the 8% of people who will achieve and likely exceed their Resolutions or, should I say, INTENTIONS! Write down the categories of your Life you intend to focus on improving in 2021. Categories, for example, Health, Spouse; family; Faith, personal growth, mindset, friends, career, Business, or Contribution. I would recommend three and no more than ten. When looking at those categories and 2020, how would you rate that area of your Life? On a scale of one to ten. Ten meaning total fulfillment. Where are you today? Write down three Wins To Celebrate from 2020. Think about your Health. What rating would you give yourself today? Maybe your at a 7-8 and happy, but know you can improve with a few tweaks. How about your relationships? Your Kids? What rating would you give yourself? Mindset? Money and Finance? Your Business, what rating would you give yourself in this area of your Life? Be honest with where you are today. Looking at 2021 and the categories you have selected, what are three Ways To Improve? Create a vision and see the life areas that matter the most to you that you want to see growth. Your Priorities! Could you make a few adjustments to your Health? Your relationships? Your Business? Your finances? Download the worksheet below: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1C08Gy7u1UOzgo9z_HLsDsHcnLIkt-hkA/view?usp=sharing Over the next several podcasts, I will go a little deeper on various categories to keep us on track of making progress and set us up for a year to remember. Landaas & Company newsletter December edition now available. Advisors on This Week’s Show Bob Landaas Kyle Tetting Dave Sandstrom (with Max Hoelzl, Joel Dresang, engineered by Jason Scuglik) Week in Review (Nov. 30-Dec. 4, 2020) SIGNIFICANT ECONOMIC INDICATORS & REPORTS Monday A “still hot” housing market could be starting to suffer from affordability problems, according to the National Association of Realtors. The trade group’s pending home sales index declined in October for the second month in a row, although it still was 20.2% higher than in October 2019. An economist for the association explained that with both inventories and mortgage rates at historic lows and demand exacerbated by work-from-home trends, prices are rising to a point of excluding more wannabe buyers. Tuesday The manufacturing sector expanded for the sixth month in a row in October, although at a slower pace, according to the Institute for Supply Management. The ISM Manufacturing Index continued to rebound from its lowest reading in 11 years in April following widespread lockdowns from the COVID-19 pandemic. Purchasing managers surveyed for the index reported increasing disruptions in staffing both in their own plants and among suppliers as coronavirus cases have surged again. Employment actually contracted from September. The annual rate of construction spending rose 1.3% in October after a setback of 0.3% in September, the Commerce Department reported. Spending on residential construction rose 2.9% for the month and was 14.7% higher than the year before. Overall construction spending increased 3.7% from October 2019. Categories in which building expenditures declined both for the month and the year included hotels, churches, amusement facilities, offices and manufacturing. Wednesday No major releases Thursday The four-week moving average for initial unemployment claims continued receding from historic highs, dipping below 740,00 for the first time in 36 weeks. That still was twice the level from the year before and higher than the all-time record set before the pandemic. The Labor Department said nearly 20.2 million Americans were receiving jobless benefits, up from 1.6 million at the same time last year. The U.S. service sector recovery slowed for the second month in a row in November, according to the Institute for Supply Management index of non-manufacturing activity. The survey-based index showed the largest part of the U.S. economy expanding for the sixth month in a row after contracting in April and May. Restaurants reported continuing struggles under capacity limits. Other businesses said they remained cautious as COVID-19 cases increased. Friday The labor market recovery continued to slow in November, adding 245,000 jobs, while the unemployment rate declined to 6.7%, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported. The jobs gain narrowed for the fifth month in a row. Employers remained 9.8 million jobs below where they were before the pandemic, about level with the number of jobs five years ago. Among the unemployed, 36.9% had been out of work for 27 weeks or more, nearly twice the level in February. The BLS said another 3.9 million Americans didn’t count as unemployed because the pandemic has kept them from looking for work. The U.S. trade deficit widened in October as both imports and exports rose for the fifth month in a row. The Bureau of Economic Analysis said the trade gap grew by 1.7% to $63.1 billion, with exports rising 2.2% and imports up 2.1% from September. Compared to the year before, the trade deficit rose 9.5%, with exports declining 16.4% while imports declined 11.5%. The Commerce Department said manufacturing continued to recover in October with a 1% increase in factory orders, the sixth gain in a row. Led by a rise in aircraft orders in October, commitments to manufactured goods still lagged their levels in February by 2.1%. Year to year, factory orders were down 7.9% and down 4.

“If you Identify the ‘why’ behind a goal, the ‘how’ can change.”Goal Setting Method:Note: Goals should be holistic. Creating categories can insure you think broadly enough about what is really important to you.Step 1: Choose the categories that allow you to think about your life holisticallyTommy’s Categories: (feel free to add/subtract based off what is important to you) A. Faith B. Family C. Finances D. Relationships E. Health F. Experiences G. Lifestyle H. Mission Step 2: Find a goal for each category A. “What is one thing I can do in each area that will move me in the direction I want to go?” B. Write down whatever comes to your mind (it could be one thing or 5 things) C. Return to this list with a fresh mind and narrow the list down to 1 goal in each category. Step 3: Find the 1-3 most important goals for the yearStep 4: Determine if there is a keystone goal Keystone goals are goals where if you do this, it will begin to change the other things you do. Step 5: Set up a system to review your goals throughout the year

Jason formerly ran the hedge fund Tourbillon Capital and was an audience favorite when he was on the podcast several years ago. Rohan is the co-founder of CAVU Venture Partners, one of the fastest-growing venture funds in the CPG space. Before Cavu, Rohan focused on supercharging brands like Vitaminwater and Smartwater at Glaceau which was acquired by Coca Cola for over $4b dollars. You may also recognize his name as a recurring Shark on ABC's Shark Tank. Our conversation covers how to think about investing in brands, what makes for a great brand, how partnerships with influencers and celebrities can turbocharger a brand, how brand ultimately gives you pricing power, and how Rohan and Jason try to add, in their words, sizzle, to the brands they work with. I really enjoyed this conversation with two of the smartest people I know on brands and brand strategy and hope you will too. Categories of Time Use, Part 3 (Get Things Done #124) by Daniel Whyte III
I am Daniel Whyte III, president of GLM Omnimedia Group, and this is Episode #123 of the "Get Things Done!” podcast. The simple purpose of this podcast is to help you get things done every day so that you can accomplish something worthwhile with your life. I am a firm believer that God has put each person on earth to do something great for His glory. As we begin, let me give you this reminder from the Word of God. Philippians 2:14-15 says: "Do all things without murmurings and disputings: That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;" Our quote for today is from Newt Gingrich. He said: "Perseverance is the hard work you do after you get tired of doing the hard work you already did." Today, in the Get Things Done podcast we are looking at "Categories of Time Use, Part 2." - - - - - - - - - Now, let's pray our prayer together -- Almighty and most merciful Father; We have erred, and strayed from thy ways like lost sheep. We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts. We have offended against Thy holy laws. We have left undone those things which we ought to have done; And we have done those things which we ought not to have done; And there is no health in us. But Thou, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable offenders. Spare Thou those, O God, who confess their faults. Restore Thou those who are penitent; According to Thy promises declared unto mankind In Christ Jesus our Lord. And grant, O most merciful Father, for His sake; That we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, To the glory of thy holy Name. Amen. Now, the greatest secret to getting things done with your life for the glory of God is to have the Lord Jesus Christ in your life. When you have Jesus in your life, you can say with Paul in Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." If you do not know the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior, here’s how. First, accept the fact that you are a sinner, and that you have broken God’s law. The Bible says in Romans 3:23: "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God." Second, accept the fact that there is a penalty for sin. The Bible states in Romans 6:23: "For the wages of sin is death…" Third, accept the fact that you are on the road to hell. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 10:28: "And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." Also, the Bible states in Revelation 21:8: "But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death." Now this is bad news, but here’s the good news. Jesus Christ said in John 3:16: "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Just believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead by the power of God for you so that you can live eternally with Him. Pray and ask Him to come into your heart today, and He will. Romans 10:9-13 says, "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." God bless you, and remember: if you have something to do, there is no better time to do it than now.
In this episode of As In Heaven, hosts Jim Davis and Justin Holcomb welcome Phillip Holmes in to offer his perspective on some of the differences between individual and systemic or systematic racism. Holmes connects these elements to biblical categories like total depravity and unpacks several examples from his own life. He shares the ways in which these things can manifest themselves as prejudice, bias, discrimination, antagonization, and hatred. The group discusses:Introduction of Phillip Holmes (1:11)Defining individual and institutional racism (1:48)Categories of racism (4:20)Why holding to gradations of racism is unhelpful (6:54)Overt racism vs. implicit (9:13)Racism and the sin of partiality (14:34)A biblical view of systemic racism (21:04)A need for reconstruction (27:46)Being racist without saying the N word (31:51)Total depravity and systemic racism (37:07)Holmes’ personal experiences with institutional and personal racism (44:01)Explore more from TGC on the topics of race and slavery.DISCUSSION QUESTIONS: 1. How would you define racism in general? When you think of racism, is it primarily individual actions or corporate?2. How have you heard systemic or institutional racism defined? How would you define it? Are there any examples you can think of from history or today?3. What are Biblical texts (both Old and New Testament) that shape your view of racism? What doctrinal convictions speak to the scope of racism?4. How might doctrines like total depravity help us to understand systemic racism?5. What hope does the gospel offer to broken systems?
Jose is wearing the Shock Collar this morning! Today's question: Over 8 billion dollars is spent on the Halloween holiday every year and in front of me I have the Top 4 CATEGORIES of purchases where our dollars go towards most. I’m looking for general answers here, if you’re thinking “12-foot ornamental skeleton from Wal-Mart that costs $300” you’re being too specific. I need you to tell me in order, what categories do we spend the most money on during Halloween each year?

The simple purpose of this podcast is to help you get things done every day so that you can accomplish something worthwhile with your life. I am a firm believer that God has put each person on earth to do something great for His glory. In this podcast, we are going through the book "Getting Things Done: The ABCs of Time Management" by Edwin C. Bliss. Today, I will continue sharing with you some of the principles on productivity, getting things done, and avoiding procrastination that Edwin C. Bliss talks about in his book. As we begin, let me give you this reminder from the Word of God. Proverbs 16:3 says: "Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established." How can we improve our prostate game? Tarlan Hedayati, MD schools Matthieu DeClerck, MD, and Neda Frayha, MD with her prostate pro-tips. Pearls: Think about acute bacterial prostatitis when someone presents with symptoms of acute prostatitis AND has the following characteristics: immunocompromised, symptoms > 36 hours, progressive urinary retention, recent antibiotics for prostatitis. Avoid prostate exams in people with neutropenia given theoretical risk of seeding bacteria. Distinguishing between acute bacterial prostatitis and prostate abscess can be difficult because patients will look sick (fever, tachycardia, abdominal pain) in both cases Suprapubic pain Abdominal pain Urinary retention History of having had prostatitis in the past Pain with defecation or with prolonged sitting Immunocompromised patient Protracted symptoms > 36 hours Progressive urinary retention Patients who have received antibiotics for prostatitis but are getting worse Overlap symptom: Physical exam and CT scan ultimately will help rule out deadly abscess or other Things to make you think more about abscess: Pearl: do not send a PSA during acute prostatitis. Leads to unnecessary worry and future monitoring of PSA levels. Prostate exam tips: Start with palpation of the anal-rectal junction to get a sense if discomfort is coming from the exam itself versus the prostate and examine if there a rectal abscess Palpate the prostate last to feel for bogginess, tenderness Prostate massage is supposed to increase the sensitivity of urine culture by squeezing bacteria out of the prostate into the urethra. However given the discomfort, probably not needed in the emergency or even primary care setting → it should be a quick exam Pearl: avoid prostate exam in people with neutropenia given theoretical risk of seeding bacteria Categories of prostatitis: A urinalysis, gram stain and culture should not have any bacteria Patients have been dealing with for a longer time and are non-toxic appearing Chronically have WBC’s in the urine with no symptoms Diagnosed by biopsy Acute bacterial prostatitis Chronic bacterial prostatitis Chronic prostatitis or chronic pelvic pain (90% of prostatitis) Asymptomatic inflammatory prostatitis Treatment: E-coli is the bacteria you’re treating against → check your local antibiogram for resistance patterns Prostate abscess 5th or 6th decade of life Immunosuppression End stage renal disease Indwelling catheter Any recent instrumentation of the prostate Potential complication of inflammatory prostatitis At most 2.5% of patients Risk factors: REFERENCE: Carroll DE, Marr I, Huang GKL, Holt DC, Tong SYC, Boutlis CS.
