We're back with a feature from one of our friends in the WBUR newsroom as Team Common works on some longer term projects. In May, a new park opened in Mattapan, and, get this… it's edible. The Edgewater Food Forest is a quarter-acre park in Mattapan full of fruit trees, berry bushes and other edible plants. Anyone in the community can harvest food there, for free. The park is a collaborative effort between neighborhood groups, the city, and the nonprofit “Boston Food Forest Coalition.” They've helped build 10 of these sites so far. WBUR Climate and Environment Correspondent Barbara Moran brings us this audio postcard from the opening celebration of the Edgewater Food Forest. Greater Boston's daily podcast where news and culture meet.
The Edgewater Food Forest in Mattapan is a formerly vacant lot now filled with fruit trees and berry bushes. Anyone in the community can harvest food for free.
To grow your community and create something from nothing, it's important to embrace the idea of wasting resources. However, it's crucial to find a balance where you don't feel the impact of this waste while you're in the process of creation. One way to approach this is by being playful with your actions. Engage in hobbies, do charity work, or simply have fun goofing around. Adopt a charitable mindset towards what you're doing. The key is to find a way to give freely without depleting your financial or emotional resources. So, how can you achieve this? Start by not taking yourself too seriously and maintaining a certain ratio in your mind. Determine what amount of resource wastage is appropriate for your situation. The ultimate goal is to find a way to waste resources indefinitely while ensuring that you don't exhaust your own resources. This way, you can continue growing your community without encountering any deficits.

In this week's Saturday Strategy Session, we chat about failure in marketing, specifically failure with Facebook ads. In this episode, I share a case study about the (frustrating!) Facebook ad results that I got a few months ago. Our goal was to sell a product. A product that this company has sold tens of thousands of times. There are tons of testimonials of how great the product is and how so many people use it in the classroom. So, lack of sales was not due to the product itself, but instead the Facebook ads were not doing their job.Remember, your marketing efforts will not always work immediately. I get it - It can be confusing, frustrating, and overwhelming. However, with time, patience and effort, your work will eventually pay off! After this session and with just a few small tweaks, Heather's pages will be optimized and running very smoothly!Heather Cacioppo is a self-proclaimed accidental entrepreneur. When the world changed in 2020, she decided that it was the best time to start her business and off she went! From this, Full Sped Ahead was born. First, Heather built her Full Sped Ahead social media, website, and TPT store. She then decided that a course and mentorship program would be super helpful to all of the teachers who were teaching remotely. Heather's business grew very quickly. Changing your thoughts can be quite the task because you don't know what you don't know. If you aren't around someone who can be unbiased and loving in their correction of your irrational thoughts, if you aren't ready to change, and if you aren't actively seeking a solution to your problem, then you will continue to think that what you believe is truth. Listen in this episode as KiYada talks about core beliefs you may have about yourself, others, and major categories and why it can be difficult to change these beliefs. As someone who has struggled in the past with a maladaptive belief system, and avidly working towards developing the mindful belief system of my desires, I totally empathize with wanting so desperately to change your thoughts. Be sure to stick around to the end for a special invitation to work with KiYada in her masterclass The Notion of Schematic Change: Replace Your Maladaptive Belief System with the Mindful System of Your Desires. In this week's Saturday Strategy Session, we chat about the love languages of marketing and specifically, the ‘right' way to market your business. Perfect timing with this episode going live the week of Valentine's Day - I didn't intentionally plan that! You've probably heard of the 5 love languages when it comes to relationships; they are words of affirmation, acts of service, gifts, physical touch, and quality time. All of these love languages can actually be used in your marketing in a variety of ways too. Think about positive testimonials and reviews coming from your customers, sharing about your signature offers, gifting your freebies, building genuine 1-1 relationships with others, and even providing quality trainings for your audience. ALL of these are wonderful ways for you to market yourself and your business, especially if you're being intentional and putting high-value, quality content out into the world. I recommend that you have one solid home base to direct traffic, nurture your people, and continue building relationships. This is extremely important because people NEED a next step in order to take action and follow through. People in momentum continue to be in momentum. Therefore, you do not ever want your marketing to come to a dead end. When it comes to a home base for your marketing plan, we're talking more about the biggest reason WHY you should have one (not multiple different ones), what my personal home bases have been over time, and the pros and cons of various home bases. One of my biggest pieces of advice is to not give too many choices when sharing how people can find and connect with you. Creating consistency and focus is really powerful, and it doesn't need to be over-complicated! It's totally okay for you to test out different home bases for marketing, but make sure you're giving it sufficient time before you change things up. That way, you'll be able to find what works well and fits your particular business best. I truly believe that the more value you put out into the world, the more value will come back to you! Consistency needs to be in your work times, the content you produce, the systems you use, and your automations. In this episode I share...The guidelines and expectations to set for yourself How to define your priorities and create a work schedule around those priorities What consistency actually looks like in her content, marketing, and brand Links Mentioned in this Episode:FREE audience audit call → marketscalegrow.com/audienceauditLet Us Help You Grow Your Visibility and Your Reach!Schedule your free discovery call___Find me on Instagram @heyitsjenzaiaEmail Me: hello@jenzaiadimartile.comJoin the Facebook community The Market, Scale, Grow Community

Have you ever heard of the term false reality? Are you unsure if you're living in a made up scenario that your mind created? In today's episode, KiYada is spilling the tea on the real reason why Season 1: Perspective came to fruition. False realities or sitcoms, as you may hear KiYada say interchangeably, are when your mind creates a fake scenario, and your behaviors exemplify the script of your inner show. Does that make sense? If you are tired of not knowing why you make the choices you make and in return behave in response to those choices, then be sure to get your paper/pen and journal to write down these 3 questions so you can check-in yourself and uncover the real motivations of your false reality.
