Muslims love Jesus—but do they know who He really is? Abdu Murray will join us to explore the Islamic view of Jesus, known to Muslims as “Isa.” What does the Qur’an say about Him? Is He just a prophet, or something more? And how do Islamic beliefs about Jesus at the end of time—His return, His role in judgment—compare with what the Bible reveals? Abdu draws from his background as a former Muslim and Christian apologist to explain what Islam gets right about Jesus, what it leaves out, and why the differences aren’t minor—they’re eternal.Become a Parshall Partner: http://moodyradio.org/donateto/inthemarket/partnersSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Fr. Mike points out the results of what happened to the kings who built idols, and what happened to the kings who tore them down. He encourages us to tear down the idols we've built up in our own lives by trusting God with our first fruits. Today's readings are 1 Kings 14, 2 Chronicles 14-15, and Song of Solomon 3. Al reads one brutal comment he wishes he hadn't, and Jase launches into an investigation to find out if it's true. Jase ponders how Si's buddies can buy the rumor of Si's death while he's sitting at the table with them, and he and Missy prepare for their famously chaotic July 4th celebration. Al's sermon on Joshua 3 uncovers how God doesn't just close the distance between us—he erases it entirely. The guys trace the through-line from Genesis 15 to John 8 to show how God transforms our identity, keeps his promises, and brings us into new life through Jesus. In this episode: Romans 12, verses 1–2; Genesis 15, verses 1–21; Exodus 6, verse 2; Joshua 3, verses 1–17; John 8, verse 58; John 20, verses 19–22; Hebrews 11, verses 17–19 “Unashamed” Episode 1109 is sponsored by: https://myphdweightloss.com — Find out how Al is finally losing weight! How does the gospel affect your work? We're in a series where we're asking, “What happens when you take the gospel, the basic message of Jesus Christ, out of the church and into the world?” One of the things that happens is it affects the way in which you do your work. And there's no way to see the Christian understanding of work without going to Genesis 1, 2, and 3. I'd like to show you three things Genesis tells us about your work: 1) it gives you a vision for work, 2) it gives you guardrails for your work, and 3) it gives you a power to do your work. This sermon was preached by Dr. Timothy Keller at Redeemer Presbyterian Church on October 10, 2010. Series: The Gospel and the World. Scripture: Genesis 1:26-28; 2:2-17. Today's podcast is brought to you by Gospel in Life, the site for all sermons, books, study guides and resources from Timothy Keller and Redeemer Presbyterian Church. Did you know there is more than one liturgical rite in the Catholic Church? Fr. Mike reviews the different liturgical Traditions that are part of the Catholic Church. All of the different rites are rooted in the same mission of Christ, reminding us that the diversity of liturgical Traditions does not take away from the unity of the Faith. Today's readings are Catechism paragraphs 1200-1203. This episode has been found to be in conformity with the Catechism by the Institute on the Catechism, under the Subcommittee on the Catechism, USCCB. What if American culture isn't collapsing because of crusading secularists? What if it's failing because many leading Christians identify more with secular elites than with their fellow believers? Frank sits down with Dr. John G. West—author of 'Stockholm Syndrome Christianity', and Vice President of the Discovery Institute—to uncover why some of the most influential Christian voices seem to be echoing the values of secular culture rather than confronting them. Frank and John tackle some uncomfortable but necessary questions like:How did Stockholm Syndrome get its name and what does it reveal about human nature? Why are some believers supporting secular policies that contradict biblical truth? What's really at stake when Christians abandon truth in the name of “love”?How can parents discern whether a “Christian college” is truly grounded in Christ—and what 10 critical questions should they ask?How have high-profile figures like Francis Collins, Russell Moore, and David French used their influence to advocate for unbiblical policies while demonizing some Christians? Are conservatives too harsh or just unwilling to capitulate? And what can faithful followers of Jesus do to push back against 'Stockholm Syndrome Christianity'?Going beyond critique, the book identifies root causes and—most crucially—offers practical tips and strategies you can use to help your family, church, and community stand for truth. Read this book to become part of the solution and discern when and where to draw the line between faith and culture.Resources mentioned during the episode:John's website: https://johngwest.com/John's Book: https://stockholmsyndromechristianity.com/John's film work: https://johngwest.com/film/

In today's episode, Graham Cooke explores how God's nature shapes our understanding of relationship with Him—from Old Testament visitation to New Testament habitation. And he was transfigured before them, [3] and his clothes became radiant, intensely white, as no one on earth could bleach them. [4] And there appeared to them Elijah with Moses, and they were talking with Jesus. [5] And Peter said to Jesus, “Rabbi, it is good that we are here. Let us make three tents, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah.” [6] For he did not know what to say, for they were terrified. [7] And a cloud overshadowed them, and a voice came out of the cloud, “This is my beloved Son; listen to him.” [8] And suddenly, looking around, they no longer saw anyone with them but Jesus only. [9] And as they were coming down the mountain, he charged them to tell no one what they had seen, until the Son of Man had risen from the dead. [10] So they kept the matter to themselves, questioning what this rising from the dead might mean. Do you ever have FOMO? The fear of missing out? It can even become like a drug—needing a hit of entertainment or distraction to find satisfaction and enjoyment. Pastor J.D. shows us that distraction and the feeling of being overwhelmed and hurried often comes from being terribly out of fellowship with Jesus. He even gives us a list of super helpful and practical things we can do today, so make sure you listen to the end.

You know the old saying that hindsight is 20/20. We are now living in the “hindsight” of the sexual revolution whose promise of freedom and liberty has turned into a poison pill that compromised some of the most important foundational truths of our humanity. On In The Market with Janet Parshall this week our guest laid out the history of the revolution and explained how abortion and the rise of transgenderism became the outcome of our national pursuit of libertinism. He also explained why a Christian sexual ethic is so important and how Christ-centered marriages are the antidote to the damages of the sexual revolution. Have you ever thought about the fact that every created thing that is , has been or ever will be ultimately finds its origin in the infinitely creative mind of the God who made us creative beings? Our guest helped see the bridge between creativity and ownership and why they are not mutually exclusive. Combing his wide experience related to ownership of intellectual property and patent law with his understanding of the Christian faith, he helped us understand why God allows us to have a limited form of ownership over our creative endeavors, why it is not counter to scripture to own intellectual property and why He made us creative in the first place. We pealed back a small corner of the veil that separates us from the supernatural world as a highly respected bible teacher joined us for a discussion of the realm hidden from our eyes, yet impacting our world, human history and the future before us constantly. Our guest answered intriguing questions like: What was the rebellion at the Tower of Babel really about?, Why did God destroy Sodom?, What are the roles of angels and demons in scripture and are they really at work behind world events today? We had the honor to share the insights of one of the most highly respected experts on Jewish studies and biblical history to give us timely assessment of the increase of antisemitism we are seeing on the news every night and why the role of Israel in prophetic history can not be understated nor ignored. It is time to turn out thoughts to more of the big news headlines from this week and examine them in the unflinching light of scripture as our favorite husband and wife duo continue to teach us how to use God’s word to discern truth from lies and purposeful confusion.Become a Parshall Partner: http://moodyradio.org/donateto/inthemarket/partnersSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
On In The Market with Janet Parshall this week we opened the week with an important conversation with a man whose life was once dominated by same-sex attraction. He delved into his childhood and relationship with his parents to help us understand that these desires do not appear in a vacuum. He explained why so many use same-sex attraction as a means of attempting to heal the brokenness they feel inside and why an authentic relationship with Christ is the only true healing for such a damaged identity. Once again, we were joined by a highly respected apologist who used his own journey from Islam to Christianity to help us understand why the Muslim perception of Jesus as a prophet and a good man is honorable but misses the point entirely of who He is and why He came. Our guest delved deep into the historicity of the founder of Islam, how much dependable evidence for his life really exists and why there is so much at stake for Muslims, like himself, who choose to turn away from Islam and embrace Christianity. Domestic violence and attempted murder were the starting place of a powerful story one woman shared with us about how she learned what true healing and dependance upon God really looks like. Through her harrowing experiences she gave us biblical and practical insight on what it looks like to choose to truly forgive those who hurts us and to trust God’s goodness even when you can’t see it or don’t feel it. She explained how God can take even the worst thorns of brutality and blossom them into roses of healing and restoration, if we let Him. Are we really seeing the truth about what is going on behind the totalitarian regime of Iran? Our guest has been serving as a messenger of the gospel to the Iranian people for many years and he joined us once again to share more of the amazing stories of God saving and transforming lives in that nation. We helped you lengthen your prayer lists with more moving stories of people who refuse to recant their faith despite multiple threats including to their very lives and the lives of those they love. Join our favorite duo for another exploration behind the headlines as they seek to clear away the rhetoric and confusion by applying God’s straight stick of truth to demonstrate how crooked what we hear in the marketplace of idea is today.Become a Parshall Partner: http://moodyradio.org/donateto/inthemarket/partnersSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

He begins with his strict upbringing as a Pharisee and his zealous persecution of Christians. Paul then describes his dramatic encounter with Jesus on the road to Damascus, where he was blinded and chosen to become a witness to both Jews and Gentiles. He explains how Jesus commissioned him to open the eyes of others, converting them from darkness to light and from Satan to God. Paul's message from Jesus emphasizes the forgiveness of sins for those who repent and turn to God. Festus interrupts, accusing Paul of madness, but Paul remains composed and appeals to Agrippa's understanding of the prophets. Agrippa is impressed but chooses not to respond to the gospel. Paul's defense starts with a recounting of his past before Christ redirected him. This illustrates his humility, as he acknowledges that he believed he knew what was right but was mistaken and needed to repent. We should share aspects of our journey before coming to Christ when possible. This is a wonderful way to give all glory to the grace of Christ, who redirects and redeems us. Paul further explains that Jesus has given him a mission, which is why he risks his life and remains tireless in his teaching. Like Paul, we should be honest and bold about our mission of service to Christ, living with integrity, and challenging others with scripture in a wise and hopeful manner. Great God of kindness and grace, thank You for bringing us through our sinful past and to a place of hope and faith. Please help us to always give glory to You for who we are in Christ Jesus. Open doors today to share our story with others, to praise the name of Jesus, and invite others to repent and turn to the Lord so that times of refreshing will come. Will You please soften the hearts of people like Agrippa, who are so close to committing their lives to Christ? How can we help? Use us for Your redemptive work today. Thought Questions: - How was God patient with you in the years before you became a Christian? Is that a story that can help someone believe in God's grace? - Do you believe God has a mission for your life? From what you know today, what is that mission? Are you passionately engaged in it? - Agrippa was almost persuaded, but something held him back. Who can you pray for today who has that mindset and needs encouragement?
Hey y'all ! Welcome to another Friday with CWCOI ! In this week's episode, our host, Ally Yost shares her testimony and story with the Lord. If you've been here since the beginning of CWCOI, Ally shared her testimony for our first ever episode. She felt led to share it again as the Lord has continued to move and evolve in her life since then. Thank you Jesus for the ways you have and continue to deliver each and every one of us! "Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me! Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him." On my walk to catch the train to work a few years ago, I saw a woman with a ferocious looking dog heading toward me. I grew up around pet dogs, so I’m usually not afraid of furry friends, but this one looked menacing. As the dog got closer, he barked at me. I tried to laugh it off. But then he lunged at me, so I screamed. Thankfully, the dog couldn’t harm me because he couldn’t reach me. His owner held on tightly to his leash. That scary encounter reminded me that as believers in Jesus, Satan is also “on a leash” but waiting to attack if we give him the opportunity. In 1 Peter, the apostle Peter warns us, “Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour” (v. 8). He growls and snarls and lunges at us to try to scare and intimidate us and to paralyze us with fear, but we can stand firm in our faith and resist him (v. 9). When you feel the enemy taunting or tempting you, remember this: he’s no match for Jesus. We can cry out to Him and He’ll help us. He “will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast” (v. 10). When we’re under spiritual attack, we can choose faith over fear because Jesus is always with us.

In today's “nugget day”, we review the main takeaways from our readings on the liturgy. Fr. Mike invites us to remember that every time we participate in the liturgy, we are participating in the heavenly worship of the Father. We also learn that in times of discouragement, we can unite ourselves to Christ our high priest by praying the Liturgy of the Hours. Today's readings are Catechism paragraphs 1187-1199. This episode has been found to be in conformity with the Catechism by the Institute on the Catechism, under the Subcommittee on the Catechism, USCCB. Loneliness is real and loneliness is really difficult. How do I handle feeling alone and what does my loneliness mean? Fr. Mike speaks into the deep and painful experience of loneliness, especially in the Christian life. He reminds us that loneliness is not a sign of failure or weakness, but a reflection of our God-given longing for love and communion. While God is always near, Fr. Mike encourages us to be honest about our pain and to invite Jesus into that place — because even in our loneliness, we are never truly alone. Tickets are on sale now for Fr.
