Join Patrick Conley this Good Friday on an epic journey of the 7 Last Words of Jesus with 7 of our top-notch spiritual directors! This show combines all seven episodes on this series of the 7 Last Words into one seamless show! Part 1 Fr. John Eckert joins Patrick for the start of a special Lenten Series on the 7 Last Words of Jesus – today’s topic, Forgiveness What was he scene of the Crucifixion? How is trust in God the Father shown in this word? (16:20) Jason - I grew up in a tough household. Joined military at 17. Mom had mental illness, dad was a military man and constantly gone. Haven't seen them for years. Fighting with forgiveness and it's a battle on a daily basis. Interested if there's specific scripture or guidance to help. (25:20) Break 1 Who put Jesus on the Cross? (30:56) Linda - Why is it that a parent can forgive their children, but children are unable to forgive and hold onto things and not easily forgive us? (35:33) Jim - I'm at a point where there are family members that have been disrespectful to me and children. Children are older now, but family member favors one over the other because they are the godparent. Prayed about forgiving, confession, adoration, etc. I'm at a point where I don't want anything bad to happen, but don't want to be around them. Is that holding on to a grudge? (40:02) Break 2 (41:20) How is Forgiveness something we can strive for in our lives? Yolie – Is it mandatory to forgive others? Part 2 (48:28) IL – Fr. James Kubicki joins Patrick for the second of a special Lenten Series on the 7 Last Words of Jesus – today’s topic: Repentance Who was St. Dismas? (56:21) where does the word repentance come from? (1:05:59) Deacon Shawn - I think the comment about conversion vs repentance is tied together. Reading a book. Repentance is a big part of it. Self-reliance on God vs. Surrender. Deeper conversion helps navigate. (1:09:26) Break 1 (1:10:21) Gene - I was in a car accident 15 years ago. Someone was killed in the accident. I was convicted of vehicular homicide. Incarcerated for it. I felt and rationalized that if they weren't in the middle of the highway, this wouldn't have happened. Last 5 years, I've been in repentance in the dark night of the soul. Mourning and not rationalizing now. What is the meaning of the word “today” you will be with me in paradise? (1:24:31) Break 2 Bonnie - Repentance and conviction of the Holy Spirit. Adult children have cut me off. I'm focusing on my part. I can't fix it or fix anybody. The goodness of the holy spirit and that can bring us repentance and help us to surrender to the will of God. Accepting the consequences. (1:29:19) John - My problem was I felt I couldn't be forgiven for the sins I committed. When I repented, it was very difficult. I still struggle. Nicole - Question - speaking about what I've been pondering. I told my friend I don't hold on to any past sins, and I know it's a sin to not accept God's mercy. In my dream last night, I feel something was being revealed from a past sin. Had desire to go to confession. How do I go to priest about it? Wondering if I confessed it. Part 3 (1:36:22) Fr. Joseph Johnson joins Patrick for the third of a special Lenten Series on the 7 Last Words of Jesus – today’s topic: Mary’s Role at the Cross (1:39:48) What is the context in these words of Jesus from the Cross? What Who does John represent in this scene? (1:49:48) What is Mary’s role in the Passion of our Lord? (1:54:30) Break 1 What are practical ways in which we can share in the passion of Christ? (2:01:40) Jim - My mother is starting to fail. My wife asked who should we pray for as a caregiver. We stopped thinking about the saints and then turned to Jesus on the cross. Jesus found a caregiver for his own mother. Found great consolation. Kurt - Redemptive suffering and joining to Christ on the cross. Very rarely do I hear anyone talking about that. We not only have that opportunity, but for the redemption of the world. We are commanded to that in John 15 and John 13. I give you a new commandment... There's no greater good than to offer suffering for them. (2:10:07) Break 2 How does the prophecy of Simeon play a role in Mary’s heart at the Cross? (2:14:16) what can we expect from the love of Mary and how it helps us in our lives? (2:17:01) Sharon - When my son died. I identified with Mary for release. My son was 50 and died of a rare cancer. The loss was something I knew she understood. Gave me a great deal of help during that time. Michelle - Abortion and aborted children. Great sorrow. I delivered that child into Mary's hands. Part 4 (2:24:40) Msgr. Tom Richter joins Patrick for the fourth of a special Lenten Series on the 7 Last Words of Jesus – today’s topic, Spiritual Abandonment The Allusions of Control. (2:33:33) Jesus and Psalm 22. (2:46:04) Break 1 (2:46:50) Tom - I've always wondered if Jesus felt because of his humanity we as human would feel abandoned by God. Was that an expression of his human feeling because he was fully human. How can Christ feel he was abandoned? if he were fully human, he would feel that way. Can you explain that? (2:50:50) How Jesus abandoned Himself to God. How can we trust that God still loves us through the challenging times in our life? (3:03:17) Break 2 How can we cultivate Faith in our lives? (3:08:37) Entrusting to God all of those who will be affected by my abandonment. Part 5 (3:12:30) Fr. Dave Heney joins Patrick for the fifth of a special Lenten Series on the 7 Last Words of Jesus – today’s topic: “I Thirst” How does this word of thirst relate with the Old Testament? Biblical meaning of water. What is the significance of the Passover cup? (3:32:40) Break 1 What is the importance of the Woman at the Well with Jesus’ words of “I Thirst” (3:38:18) how can we satisfied Jesus' thirst for us? (3:48:43) Break 2 Beatitudes I thirst and drink for riotousness (3:54:42) Madeline - I love this discussion. Years ago, I read the 4th Cup. The new covenant is complete. This really has changed how I look at the Triduum. Richard – Did Jesus say Carry your cross before or after he died on the cross? Part 6 (4:00:20) Fr. Michael Hurley joins Patrick for the sixth of a special Lenten Series on the 7 Last Words of Jesus – today’s topic: “It is Finished” What would have the people heard from these words of Jesus who were there? (4:10:04) What is the deeper meaning of this message. (4:13:16) Robert - I don't understand the debate. it was about his mission on earth. I don't understand the bewilderment. That is what the father had him do. (4:18:40) Break 1 Susan - The Latin being consumatem est...more literally translated to it is consummated. As in he's married to his church. (4:24:06) Timothy -You mentioned Came to save sinners...don't know what that exactly means. How does this connect with the Old Testament and the fourth cup? (4:38:33) Break 2 (4:40:45) The enduring wounds of Jesus even after it is finished. Jesus Shouts, it is Finished! Part 7 (4:48:14) IL – Fr. John Paul Erickson joins Patrick for the last chapter of our special Lenten Series on the 7 Last Words of Jesus – today’s topic: “Total Surrender to God” (4:54:32) What is the connection to the Psalms and this last word of Jesus? (5:03:43) what holds us back from surrendering entirely to the will of the Father? (5:08:04) Break 1 (5:08:51) How do you answer the question of does God really care about me and can I trust Him? (5:16:49) Carol - I'm an associate for an order. I serve worldwide for the sisters from home. I suffer from terminal illness. It's that surrender to God we're all trying to get to. Why does God allow suffering? (5:24:17) Break 2 (5:25:31) Laurie - Husband and I suffered 2 miscarriages. Another born and survived only days. Knowing God had a greater purpose. I figured we'd have 5-6 kids. I worked at a daycare. We adopted two children. God places these things before us and uses us as an instrument. (5:30:20) If we are to experience suffering why should we be faithful Christians? Serenity Prayer

It's one thing to know Jesus is God, but it's another to know him as fully human. His humanity is as important as his divinity. In this message Pastor Fikre Prince shares the other side of our Lord and Savior, as we look at Jesus' words on the cross, "I Thirst" and what this theological revelation brings to our faith and salvation.Text: John 19:28–29; Hebrews 2:17–18Sermon Summary:Big Idea: Because Jesus is fully human, he is able to fully save humans. Key Question: Why did Jesus become fully human? 1. To serve as our High Priest. (Heb. 2:17a)2. To make propitiation for our sins. (Heb. 2:17b)3. To empathize with our condition. (Heb. 2:18)
This week we listen to Jesus say "I Thirst" What does that mean?
20260329 - I Thirst by Harvest Church Muskoka
As Jesus hung upon the cross, He experienced the physical, emotional, and spiritual pain that we all feel as humans. While Scripture reveals Jesus' divine nature, we also know of his humanity. When he said "I thirst" on the cross, it offers a glimpse. Listen to our latest message, I Thirst, as Pastor Rob Bentz explores how the reality of Jesus' humanness brings comfort and hope to all who believe.
When were you the thirstiest you have ever been? What do you thirst for now? Join us for the message “I Thirst.”

Hope for Right Now Podcast – Desert Bloom, A Lenten Journey: Jesus Thirsts for You Laura Phelps welcomes guest Caitlin Bean to the Hope for Right Now podcast for a seven-week series: Desert Bloom, A Lenten Journey. Lent is a time of sacrifice, preparation, and spiritual waiting—a time to prepare our hearts for Easter through prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. For many of us, it has become about exterior performance, a “holy checklist” we begin on Ash Wednesday and struggle to sustain for 40 days. And preparation? Who has time for that? We are exhausted—after all, it was just Christmas! If this is how your heart feels at the start of Lent, this series is for you—offering practical encouragement, Scripture reflections, and simple ways to experience a more meaningful, peace-filled Lent. In today's episode, Laura and Caitlin walk us into a new phase, the rainfall, and vulnerably share the empty wells they have run to in order to find the love that only God can give. Open your Heart to our key Scripture. Hosea 6:3 Let us press on to know the Lord; his going forth is sure as the dawn; he will come to us as the showers, as the spring rains that water the earth. Open your Bible to other Scriptures referenced in this episode. John 4:1–42: The Woman at the Well Exodus 2:15–21 Genesis 24:14–19 Genesis 19:1–9 Romans 8:26: Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but the Spirit himself interceded for us with sighs too deep for words. Hosea 10:12: Sow for yourselves righteousness, reap the fruit of steadfast love; break up your fallow ground, for it is the time to seek the Lord, that he may come and rain salvation upon you. Matthew 13:7: Other seeds fell upon thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked them. Jeremiah 4:3: For this is what the LORD says to the men of Judah and to Jerusalem: “Break up your uncultivated ground, and do not sow among thorns.” (NASB) Proverbs 28:13: He who conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy. Invite Him in with this episode's questions for reflection. What empty wells do you continue to go to, looking to quench a thirst that only God can satisfy? Ask the Lord to plow your heart; give Him permission to remove the rocks and thorns and to reveal to you the unsurrendered areas of your heart. Challenge: go to confession! Show mentions. Join Msgr. John Esseff as he reflects on his experiences with Mother Teresa on the eve of her canonization! Several of the stories he has not shared on any of his previous programs. Rather than be "admirers" of Mother Teresa, Msgr. Esseff asks all of us to pray to become "imitators" of this little one of God's children who has now become one of His great saints! Carrier of God's Tender Love and Mercy Lord Jesus, merciful Face of the Father, you came to give us the Good News of the Father's mercy and tenderness. We thank you for the gift of our dearest Mother, Blessed Teresa of Calcutta, who will be canonized in this Jubilee Year of Mercy. You chose her to be your presence, your love and compassion to the brokenhearted, the unwanted, the abandoned and the dying. She responded wholeheartedly to your cry, ‘I Thirst,' by the holiness of her life and humble works of love to the poorest of the poor. We pray, through her intercession, for the grace to experience your merciful love and share it in our own families, communities and with all our suffering brothers and sisters. Help us to give our “hearts to love and hands to serve” after the example of Mother Teresa. Lord Jesus, bless every member of our family, our parish, our diocese, our country, especially those most in need, that we all may be transformed by your merciful love. Amen. SHOW NOTES Last week we talked about being a conqueror and this week it's gonna be about being an overcomer. Don't worry I haven't forgotten that you are dealing with grief, but I'm not talking about what you are supposed to muster up in your own strength which may feel opposite of how your current days. My grief journey, as you know, began with fighting God for more than a full year, so this is not the Easter message you are used to hearing. The Resurrection of Jesus didn't move me during that season – it was the other less inspiring aspects that drew me to God. This Easter your hope can't be in trying harder or all the things you think you ‘should' do or ‘should' feel. Your hope can't be found in the past (because it's gone) or the future (when hopefully things will change). It can only be found in Jesus. WORD of the Week I have told you all this so that you will have peace of heart and mind. This week we examine the words, "I Thirst". Jesus not only spoke these words to fulfill the prophecy found in the Old Testament regarding the Messiah, but it also spotlights His humanity.

The Seven Last Words of Jesus: The Fourth Friday Lenten Season Conference Note: This audio is the fourth Friday conference within the Lenten Season. The first several media titles appear below. The Seven Last Words of Jesus: The Fourth Friday Lenten Season Conference When we say the seven last words, we mean the seven last statements of Jesus on The Cross. On Mount Sinai, the Lord gave to Moses ten words. Now, there on another hill, seven more words are given. God made Moses a meditator to receive the words. On Good Friday, God's Son gives the world seven more words. The parallelism continues. On Mount Sinai there was rolling thunder and shaking of the earth. On Good Friday, a similar thing happens. The site as we know is Calvary, the place of the new covenant. The Homily tells us more. As Jesus is on The Cross, Jesus addresses His people. The audio describes the Lord on The Cross to set the scene and to help form a mental image. These words were not given to the entire world. They were shared and heard by only a few people. The seven words should be looked at together to understand their significance. Listen to: The Seven Last Words of Jesus. Understand how these words should impact our Spiritual Life. Listen to this Friday Conference During Lenten Season. Listen to this Meditation Media. Note: See the Seven Last Words below and a list as to which Gospel they may be found. --------------------------------------- Image: Christ Crucified: Spanish Painter: Diego Velázquez: 1632 Note: This marks the fourth Friday of the current Lenten Season, featuring special formation conferences covering a range of seasonal topics. The other conferences are entitled: -1- “The Spiritual Meaning of Lent,” -2- Where Did the Stations of the Cross Come From? Why Are They Important? What is the Peculiar Power of this Prayer? -3- Atonement, Reparation and Reconciliation to the Heart of Jesus Jesus' Last Words and Gospel #1: Father, forgive them. They know not what they do.: St. Luke #2: Amen, I say to you. This day you will be with me in Paradise. : St. Luke #3: Women, behold your son…behold your Mother: St. John #4: My God! My God! Why have You forsaken Me? : St. Mark and St. Matthew #5: I Thirst! : St. John #6: It is finished. : St. John #7: Father, into Your hands I commend my Spirit. : St. Luke
We continue with our seven words, this week picking up with “I Thirst” With these words, Jesus reveals he is human. In this podcast, we consider Jesus humanity. A) What is the difference between gods and humans — what would the divine lose by become human? B) What might the divine gain by becoming human? […]
In this episode, we discuss the second half of the Varanasi Letter written by St. Teresa of Calcutta to her MC Community. We reflect on how Jesus is calling us to encounter Him daily and what we can do to open our hearts to deeper communion. We also chat about how our Blessed Mother is a perfect example of how to comfort the Sacred Heart of Jesus in love and how to remain open and vulnerable even with a heart pierced with sorrow. Heather's One Thing - Panel with Divine Renovation and Alpha Catholic (Click here to listen to the discussion on Tuesday November 21st) Sister Miriam's One Thing - Warm and Hearty Meatloaf Recipe Michelle's One Thing - Holy Water Spritzer from West Coast Catholic Michelle's Other One Thing - I Thirst, 40 days with Mother Teresa by Joseph Langford, MC Journal Questions: What is the Lord's theme for me in this season? What is the Lord's theme for me throughout my life? Where has your heart been pierced? Do I see myself as a gift? Discussion Questions: How would you depict your heart? Where are you blocking the joy of Christ from your life? How have you allowed your heart to be hardened? How is the Lord inviting you to respond to His Thirst? Quotes to Ponder: Our Lady will help all of us in this, since she was the first person to hear Jesus's cry, “I Thirst” with St. John, and I am sure Mary Magdalene. Because she was there on Calvary, she knows how real, how deep His longing for you and for the poor. Do we know? Do we feel as She? Ask her to teach you Before it was Our Lady pleading with Mother, now it is Mother in her name pleading with you — “Listen to Jesus's thirst.” (Varanasi Letter, St. Teresa of Calcutta) Scripture for Lectio: "But Mary treasured all these words and pondered them in her heart." This episode of the Breakthrough of Grace Podcast features reflections gathered and curated by Mark Kalpakgian. Mark's talk is inspired by the life, the example and the witness of St. Mother Theresa of Calcutta- and in particular, by the recently pushed collection of stories and accounts from her life published in the book “To Love and Be Loved“ by Jim Tuohey. We venerate St. Mother Theresa as a Saint – and rightfully so. Jim Tuouy's book, and Mark's reflections on both it and on Mother Theresa's impact on his own life, give us insight into what were the key attributes which caused St. Mother Theresa's life to be holy – and in particular, in the less obvious ways? This talk was recorded at John Paul the Great University in Southern California with a small prayer group: we pray that it blesses you as much as it did us. Reflect on this scripture which sets the tone for this talk: 17 As Jesus started on his way, a man ran up to him and fell on his knees before him. “Good teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?”18 “Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good—except God alone. 19 You know the commandments: ‘You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, you shall not defraud, honor your father and mother.'[d]”20 “Teacher,” he declared, “all these I have kept since I was a boy.”21 Jesus looked at him and loved him. “One thing you lack,” he said. “Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”What stands out to you, and what is God offering to you today through this Scripture? In the chapel of the Motherhouse of the Missionaries of Charity in Kolkata, there is a large crucifix, and adjacent the crucifix the words of Christ from the Cross (John 19:38) “I Thirst”.Mother Theresa taught the following,:Why does Jesus say "I Thirst"? What does it mean? . . . If you remember anything from Mother's letter, remember this — 'I Thirst' is something much deeper than just Jesus saying 'I love you.' Until you know deep inside that Jesus thirsts for you — you can't begin to know who He wants to be for you. Or who He wants you to be for Him.Spend some time in prayer reflecting on Mother Theresa's words.Meditation courtesy of CatholicEducation.orgI Thirst': Mother Teresa's Devotion to the Thirst of Jesus (catholiceducation.org)Audio Editing by ForteCatholic.com
“Jesus wants me to tell you again, especially in this Holy Week, how much is the love He has for each one of you – beyond all you can imagine. I worry some of you still have not really met Jesus – one to one – you and Jesus alone. We may spend time in chapel – but have you seen with eyes of your soul how He looks at you with love? Do you really know the living Jesus – not from books but from being with Him in your heart? Have you heard the loving words He speaks to you? Ask for the grace, He is longing simply to give it. Until you can hear Jesus in the silence of your own heart, you will not be able to hear Him saying ‘I Thirst' in the hearts of the poor. Never give up this intimate contact with Jesus as a real living person – not just an idea. How can we last even one day living our life without hearing Jesus say ‘I love you' – impossible. Our soul needs that as much as the body needs to breathe the air. If not, prayer is dead – meditation only thinking.” --Mother Teresa, "Varanasi Letter" --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/hucklefather/support

Catholic Drive Time - 877-757-9424 Date – Wednesday, March 15th - 2023 – St. Clement Marie Hofbauer St. Clement Marie Hofbauer was an Apostle of Vienna who was born in Tasswitz, Austria on December 26, 1751, and died on March 15, 1821. He defended the Catholic Faith against the rationalism of the 18th century and Enlightenment thinking, and he did not cede an inch to the threat of preaching to empty pews. His position was counter-revolutionary, and he fought against the motto: "Cede to not lose." His life serves as an example to Catholics today who must speak the whole truth and stand up against the forces that oppose the Church. Amen.
