Support this podcast at patreon.com/incitingincidentpodcastDue to Rissy being violently ill most of the week, we've compiled some of our favorite moments from the past year. Obviously we can't pick all of our guests, but we think this is a good representation of the Inciting Incident Podcast for 2018. Featuring clips from episodes 127, 129, 130, 134, 149, 150, 155, 156, 162, 167, and 170. Figured this would be better than missing a week, and would give our newer fans a chance to see what they've missed. NOTE: During the initial recording, Rissy's audio was not captured for whatever reason. Due to this technical difficulty, and so that we didn't have to record a great interview over again, Rissy has done her best to fill in the space with the questions and comments she made by recording them in afterward. We hope this is sufficiently listenable. This week, Rissy and Bethany are joined by skeptic standup comedian Ian Harris, whose new comedy special "ExtraOrdinary" debuted recently. On this week’s episode, we jump right into the latter part of 1839 with the quorum of the Twelve petitioning Jo to release the copyright on the Book of Mormon to begin printing the 1840 edition. The Times and Season church periodical begins circulating, and Jo finally departs for Washington D.C. to speak with the POTUS about helping the Mormon refugees out of their dire straits. The meeting doesn’t go as planned, but Jo and Rigdon weren’t done asking the government for relief and are stuck in D.C. for another month and a half waiting for Congress to come back from winter recess. We finish up the episode with airing a conversation I had with Molly UnMormon on Doubting Dogma Podcast, discussing the Martin and Willie handcart companies and other fun church stuff. Greetings and welcome to another scintillating episode of The Podunk Polymath Podcast! This is a bit of a special episode, because for only the second time on the podcast I have a guest for the pre-ramble and the palaver! Zach Law of Zachrilege Cast joins me firstly on the pre-ramble as we talk about the GOP's newly unveiled health care plan and our takes on its merits (spoiler : we think it sucks)! I also announce a new patron, and a very special one at that : The badass host of Inciting Incident Podcast, as well as author and generally awesome human being, Marissa McCool! I also mention once again that NaNoCon is starting in less than a week, and how y'all better get your tickets now before they sell out! The fun with Zach continues on the palaver, where we talk about his podcast, his personal views, our love of beer, as well as his penchant for belching during interviews. It's a boozy conversation between two friends, and I had a lot of fun talking to him. It's a bit of a reprieve from the more serious subjects the show generally covers, and I think we all could use it during these dark days. Enjoy! Music by Dot Dot Dash, cdbaby.com/cd/dotdotdash
Greetings and welcome to another episode of the podcast your mom warned you about, The Podunk Polymath Podcast! This week on the pre-ramble I give a brief review of 'I Am Not Your Negro', the documentary about James Baldwin and his unfinished book. I will let you listen to it on the show, but in brief I will say that I was very moved, saddened, disgusted, angry, and not overly optimistic, though Mr. Baldwin himself said "I can't be a pessimist, because I'm alive". Please, if you have the opportunity, go watch this film. It is truly a phenomenal and, I believe, a seminal work. On the palaver I speak to Astrid Isley, former co-host on Inciting Incident Podcast, radical activist, deep thinker, and also a sex worker. We talk about what sex work is; myths and misconceptions surrounding the profession; her experiences as a sex worker; her thoughts on regulation; and much more. I often say this, but it truly was an educational and eye-opening conversation. On the post-ramble I do the usual show promotion, but mention my appearances on The Atheist in the Trailer Park and Zachrilege Cast, since I forgot to last week and almost forgot again! As always, thanks for listening to my incessant rambling, and I hope you enjoy the show. Music by Dot Dot Dash, cdbaby.com/cd/dotdotdash
Thanks for joining me for another episode of The PoPoPo! On the pre-ramble I give the Twitter follower roundup, as well as mention once again that I was on Inciting Incident Podcast. For the palaver, I host a round-table discussion on polyamory. This episode contains the first part of said discussion, and next week the conclusion will air. My guests were Shane, Jeanne Ikerd, Kory Diggs, Heina Dadabhoy, Leigh, and Daniel Samuelson. Our conversation was informative, funny, and poignant. We talk about what it's like to be poly; what it's like to be poly with kids; the divide between the poly and swinger communities; as well as other topics involving polyamory. This was my first palaver with so many people, and it came off incredibly well, mostly due to my exceptional guests. Much thanks to them for doing this show, and thanks to the listeners who take the time to listen. Music by Dot Dot Dash, cdbaby.com/cd/dotdotdash
This week, guest masochist Marissa McCool joins Eli and Noah to discuss the story of Jesus's under-performing dinner theater magic show in an atheist review of The Encounter. --- To check out Marissa's podcast, The Inciting Incident Podcast, click here: http://incitingincident.libsyn.com/ To get a copy of Marissa's book, click here: https://www.amazon.com/PC-Lie-American-Voters-Decided/dp/1540416003
Welcome to another episode of everybody's favorite Southern podcast! This week on the pre-ramble, I start the long-delayed Twitter follower roundup. I also mention that I will be on an upcoming episode of Inciting Incident Podcast. Finally, I talk about a tweet I sent out that kicked up a little controversy. On the palaver, I talk to atheist activist and all-around awesome human being Adam Collins. We talk about his journey to atheism; his controversial exploits that have made him infamous; the Atheists of Facebook Online Convention; his run for Cincinnati City Council; as well as other interesting and cringe worthy topics. Adam is honest, kind, charismatic, and gives zero fucks, and I really enjoyed talking to him. I hope y'all enjoy listening to the conversation. In the outro I mention that the episode with Bryce Blankenagel is really popular and has already jumped to number two in total episode downloads behind the inaugural episode. The show got the Blankenagel Bump! I hope y'all enjoy the show! Music by Dot Dot Dash, cdbaby.com/cd/dotdotdash
