While we sleep, the creatures of the nocturnal world work their magic. In her book, "Night Magic: Adventures Among Glowworms, Moon Gardens, and Other Marvels of the Dark," New York Times bestselling author Leigh Ann Henion examines how forest logging, light pollution, and other human activities harm the diversity and habitats of animals and insects that depend on the darkness to navigate, hunt, and communicate. Henion will be a guest of the Western New York Land Conservancy later this week, but first, she joins guest host Julie Philipp on "Connections" to discuss what humans can do to protect these creatures of the night — and how that protection can, in turn, preserve the health of the environment. Our guests: Leigh Ann Henion, author of "Night Magic: Adventures Among Glowworms, Moon Gardens, and Other Marvels of the Dark" and "Phenomenal: A Hesitant Adventurer's Search for Wonder in the Natural World" Marisa Riggi, executive director of the Western New York Land Conservancy Wayne Gall, Ph.D., retired entomologist with the U.S. Department of Agriculture ---Connections is supported by listeners like you. In this episode, Leigh Ann welcomes Dr. Scott Sherr, co-founder of Troscriptions, for a conversation on GABA, anxiety, stress, sleep, and fast-acting nervous system support. Dr. Sherr shares how his background in internal medicine, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, and health optimization medicine led him to help create products designed to support people while they are on a longer healing journey. He explains why many people may be struggling with GABA deficiency, how chronic stress can deplete the body's calming pathways, and why anxiety, insomnia, racing thoughts, and low energy are often interconnected. Leigh Ann and Dr. Sherr discuss the unique buccal troche delivery method, how it differs from capsules and sublingual supplements, and why it can allow for faster absorption and more flexible dosing. The conversation also explores TroCalm, Trozy, alcohol's impact on the GABA-glutamate balance, sleep architecture, and why calming the nervous system does not have to mean feeling sedated.Product Discount Codes + LinksHoolest: Website (Discount Code: THEACCRESCENT10)Froya Hair Care: Website (Link gives 10% off)Herbal Face Food: Website (Discount Code: LAL30)Episode LinksTroscriptions - Website (Discount Code: LEIGHANN)Guest InfoDr. Scott Sherr - WebsiteRelated EpisodesPodcast Ep. 203: Anna Finck - Reconnecting to Our Bodies, Reclaiming Our Health, and Remembering Our PowerPodcast Ep. 150: Michael Byrne - The Bia Smart Sleep MaskWork w/Leigh AnnLearn: What is EVOX Therapy?Book: Schedule a Session or FREE Discovery CallMembership: What is The Healing Alchemy MembershipConnect w/Me & Learn MoreWebsiteInstagramTiktokYoutube

In a powerful episode, Leighann McCoy shares her personal journey of ministry, breaking barriers, and standing firm in her calling despite cultural and denominational resistance. She reveals how answering God's call transformed her life, her church, and the lives of countless women eager to serve boldly—whether in leadership or behind the scenes. You'll discover the real meaning of spiritual warfare in today's church, how to navigate societal constructs that limit women, and why authentic faith often requires defying tradition. Leighann shares stories from her decades of leadership, including launching ministries, confronting bias in the SBC, and how women can thrive by standing courageously in their gifts. She explains why God's design for men and women creates a harmonious balance—one that empowers women to lead in ways that reflect His glory, even when the world tries to silence them. We break down: • Why many churches miss out on divine potential when women are sidelined and how barriers are often man-made. • The importance of responding to God's call—regardless of societal pressures or denominational doctrine. • Practical ways women can support each other in leadership roles, from the church pulpit to everyday life. • The significance of trusting God's order in the home and church, and how it's designed to foster flourishing for all His children. The stakes are high—oppressive traditions have held back churches and silenced gifted women for generations, hindering kingdom impact. But a fresh movement is rising, where women step into their God-ordained roles with confidence and joy, igniting revival from within. If you're a woman feeling called to lead, teach, or serve, this episode is your rallying cry. Leighann McCoy, a prolific author and veteran minister, shares candid insights rooted in her unwavering faith and decades of experience. She's known for her leadership in non-denominational and SBC circles, tirelessly advocating for women's voice in the church. Whether you're a young woman questioning your purpose, a church leader wrestling with tradition, or anyone passionate about seeing history rewritten—this episode is your inspiring call to action. Answer God's call with boldness—because when women rise, the church and the kingdom of God flourish like never before.

She also shares the complications that followed, including a leak, a second emergency surgery, an ileostomy, severe weight loss, pleural effusion, abscesses, additional surgery, and the loneliness of healing from injuries and trauma that others could not always see. Diana and Leigh Ann discuss the emotional toll of cancer, the difficulty of making treatment decisions amid conflicting medical opinions, and Diana's choice to pursue an integrative path guided by body intuition, discernment, and personalized support. The conversation explores the physical, emotional, and spiritual layers of healing, including trauma work, faith, rest, sunlight, diet changes, supplements, acupuncture, frequency therapies, and learning when to pivot based on what the body is communicating.Product Discount Codes + LinksHoolest: Website (Discount Code: THEACCRESCENT10)Froya Hair Care: Website (Link gives 10% off)Herbal Face Food: Website (Discount Code: LAL30)The Fullest: Website (discount code: LEIGH15)Episode LinksDiana's GoFundMeRelated EpisodesEp. 228: Dr. Lori Bouchard - The Missing Pieces in Cancer Care, Metabolism, Trauma, and Whole-Person HealingEp. 176: Leigh Ann Lindsey - How I Work with Cancer Patients to Address Emotional Root Causes to DiseaseWork w/Leigh AnnLearn: What is EVOX Therapy?Book: Schedule a Session or FREE Discovery CallMembership: What is The Healing Alchemy MembershipConnect w/Me & Learn MoreWebsiteInstagramTiktokYoutube
Leigh Ann welcomes Cheryl Sew Hoy, founder of Tiny Health, for a conversation on infant gut health, microbiome testing, and why the first 1,000 days of life matter so deeply for long-term immune development. Cheryl shares how her own C-section birth experience with her daughter led her to research the differences between C-section and vaginally born babies' gut microbiomes, eventually inspiring her to create Tiny Health. The conversation explores how early-life factors like C-sections, antibiotic use, breastfeeding, solid foods, parental microbiomes, pets, nature exposure, and stress can shape a child's gut ecosystem. Cheryl explains why an infant's microbiome is easier to shift than an adult's, how missing beneficial bacteria may contribute to eczema, allergies, asthma, GI issues, and other chronic conditions, and why testing can help parents take more targeted action. Leigh Ann and Cheryl also discuss adult gut testing, the gut-brain connection, probiotics, stool testing technology, and why a “good” supplement is not necessarily helpful if your body does not need it. This episode explores what NAD is, why it matters for cellular energy and metabolic function, and why measuring it accurately has historically been so difficult. Guest Jari Närhi explains that NAD is essential for mitochondrial ATP production, DNA repair, inflammation response, and hundreds of metabolic processes, but that low NAD is usually more a consequence of illness, inflammation, or depletion than a root cause on its own. The conversation unpacks the nuance around supplementation, including niacin, NR, NMN, and NAD IVs, while emphasizing that more is not always better and that raising NAD without clear need may not be beneficial. Leigh Ann and Jari also discuss the limits of conventional NAD testing, noting that measuring only NAD+ offers a very incomplete picture compared with looking at multiple NAD forms and their ratios. A major focus of the episode is how NADMED's technology makes it possible for clinical labs to measure several NAD metabolites more reliably and at scale, opening the door for better clinical use and research. Leigh Ann sits down with Dr. Vershalee Shukla to explore how cancer screening is rapidly evolving beyond conventional tools like mammograms. Dr. Shukla explains why catching cancer at earlier stages can dramatically change treatment options and outcomes, and why safer screening matters more than ever as cancer rates rise in younger populations. Together, they discuss emerging technologies including QT ultrasound for breast screening, multi-cancer blood tests, whole-body MRI, and AI models designed to detect patterns long before symptoms appear. Dr. Shukla also breaks down the strengths and limitations of different liquid biopsy tests and explains why screening should be tailored to each person's age, risk factors, and history. Leigh Ann and Dr. Shukla also emphasize the importance of patient advocacy, personal responsibility, and seeking out newer technologies that may not yet be part of standard care.Product Discount Codes + LinksJuna: Website (Discount Code: LEIGHANN)Broc Shot: Website (Discount Code: LEIGHANNLINDSEY)Hoolest: Website (Discount Code: THEACCRESCENT10)Episode LinksC The Signs AIBe Sound Breast Scanning Guest InfoVincere Cancer Center - InstagramVincere Cancer Center - WebsiteRelated EpisodesPodcast Ep. 228: Dr. Lori Bouchard - The Missing Pieces in Cancer Care, Metabolism, Trauma, and Whole-Person HealingPodcast Ep. 213. Season 6, Episode 724 with podcaster Leigh Ann Steele from the Hustlers 2 Housewives Podcast, an Adult Industry Podcast. Two Sexuality Podcasters on How Podcasting Changed Our Perspectives on Sexuality and Connection, plus we talk about sex, life, being powerful women in midlife, and dogs! NOTE: video version coming soon to Ruan Willow Podcaster on YouTube, and also on Substack, Spotify, and PodNation Media on Roku TV/Fire TV devices, and Full Swap Radio (app and internet radio station). You stop seeing people as one-dimensional characters. Instead of categorizing someone by their profession or background, you discover they're complex humans with unexpected perspectives, humor, and intelligence. And what a beautiful thing it is to see humans as human beings rather than labels! We talked about how podcasting has transformed our views on sexuality and connection and made us less judgmental, and more open, people who are more supportive of others rather than resorting to tearing them down. Talking genuinely with hundreds of diverse people fosters deep growth in empathy and grace. Undoubtedly interviewing people from a wide variety of lived experiences reduces the tendency to judge others. We also chatted about previous guests, some of them mutual, and how they shattered our expectations and bloomed with the beauty of their individual truths. People are amazing, if you let them show you! We also chatted about how sex is ageless (another area to curb your judgements in) and how frustrating and insulting it is that the world has so horrendously neglected women's sexual health and pleasure research, including lying for decades that hormone replacement therapy was harmful to women (spoiler: it's NOT harmful, it's very, very helpful for women to be on HRT, especially around and after menopause. Research it!) Maybe we'll share if we liked the lemon!!!!! When it comes to Caribbean food, there tends to be a viewpoint that it can be a monolithic culinary experience. And particularly as those living in countries like Jamaica, Cuba, Trinidad and Tobago, Bahamas, or other Caribbean countries move in the diaspora, it necessitates a nuanced look at how culinary traditions and knowledges are shared, shifted, and expanded with new generations. My guest today, chef Leigh-Ann Martin, reminds us that there is such a rich regional diversity and abundance that needs to be explored more fully. Leigh-Ann is a trained chef, thought leader, and senior administrative professional based in the New York City area. She has worked at top finance and accounting firms, and continues her corporate career while consulting on the coursework for the No Words Project, or being featured in food media such as The New York Times, Eater, Washington Post, Food Insider, Vittles, and A Hungry Society podcast. Leigh-Ann has contributed meaningful words that echo Caribbean abundance and delicious recipes for While Entertaining, Ark Republic, Cooking Sense, and Tenderly Magazine. She worked as a line cook at Butter Restaurant and the Darby Supper Club upon her graduation from culinary school, and launched A Table For Four in 2018. This pop-up is an intimate dinner series that merges her Trini upbringing with her culinary training. Most recently, Leigh-Ann was invited to lead a workshop at the World of Flavors International Conference and Festival hosted by the Culinary Institute of America in Napa Valley, CA. and has served on the board of Kind Kitchen Group, which aims to drive social change through food, education, and community empowerment. In today's conversation, we explore her upbringing in Trinidad and its lasting influences on how she thinks about ingredient sourcing and culinary experiences, the navigation of personal and collective histories in creating tasting menus, and breaking down the myth of a singular Caribbean culinary foodway. I've long admired the work Leigh-Ann is doing, so I am particularly thrilled to have her on the podcast this week! Resources: Website: https://leighannmartin.com/ Instagram: @chefleighann

Leigh Ann Phillips is an award-winning singer songwriter and sound healing educator. She is on a mission to merge sound and music to assist people in leading more fulfilling lives in healthier bodies. Her work is taking her all over the world and back again. Leigh Ann has developed a method of brainwave entrainment through the use of her voice and the quartz crystal singing bowls. It is a form of sound healing based on research on the brain as well as the musical system called the Circle of Fifths. The purpose of the work is to help people release emotions from the body, as well as raise the level of health and well being physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. She has developed a method of shifting and slowing the brain states, allowing people to not just relax but release emotional blocks that are allowing dis-ease in the body. Her method incorporates the use of the quartz crystal singing bowls, Tibetan singing bowls, tingshaws, harp, piano, herbal medicine as well as her voice. Using mantras in languages such as Sanskrit, Enochian and Aramaic, Leigh Ann incorporates ancient mantras and prayers to enhance the power of the sound. This method actually places the bowls on the person, so the person is receiving not just music and sound, but also vibration. Her passion is to assist people in building an awareness of consciousness to the mind, body and spirit. Some people would call this allowing sound and music to be a bridge to the soul. Leigh Ann is now back in Crestone, Colorado! She has been bringing sound healing and the music of the quartz crystal singing bowls into the mainstream. She has given demonstrations and sound healing sessions most recently in Taiwan, the Hawaiian islands, at the Gem Exhibit at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C, as well as at a Playboy event in the Los Angeles area. She has also made television and radio appearances on various health, and lifestyle programs in Hawaii, New York, Massachusetts, Colorado, New Mexico, as well as the Orient. The sound and the music have merged, and Leigh Ann's passion for life has sounded into a path where music can bring not just beauty, but health, peace and the evolution of the soul. Leigh Ann's latest recorded album release, Mik'ael (2013), is a musical tapestry of mantras, sung in the Enochian language, accompanied by quartz crystal singing bowls and world instruments. Mik'ael is a musical collaboration with writer and producer, Thomas Barquee, recorded at Zenden Studios in California. Ideal for yoga and meditation, Mik'ael is a healing offering to the Archangel Michael, and all that is peaceful in nature and ourselves. Her next recording project will be spoken word, co-created again with Thomas Barquee. She is also the Executive Director of The Shimmering Sounds Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to bringing sound healing as a complimentary therapy to the masses. The foundation has given hundreds of free sessions to people that could not normally afford holistic health sessions. The foundation incorporates the use of a crystal healing bed as well, a complementary treatment to the sound using color, vibration and light. Currently she has developed her own line of quartz crystal singing bowls, using unusual gemstones to infuse the bowls, as well as etching ancient mandalas that amplify the intention of this sacred art through the power of the sound. https://www.leighannphillips.com/ Call In and Chat with Deborah during Live Show: 833-220-1200 or 319-527-2638 Learn more about Deborah here: www.lovebyintuition.com
On Season 9, Episode 2 of The Surviving Siblings Podcast®, host Maya Roffler is joined by Earla Dawn, who shares the story of losing her sister, Leigh-Ann, to pancreatic cancer. Earla takes us back to their childhood on the prairies, four siblings, endless fun, and the kind of relationship that started with "fighting like cats and dogs"… and grew into a deep, lifelong bond. Leigh-Ann was the polished one, the "always put together" sister, a devoted mom, a dog lover, and a woman who reinvented her life, starting over after divorce, and eventually moving across the world to Spain in 2006. Even with an ocean between them, their connection never faded. They learned Skype, relied on phone calls and letters, and stayed emotionally close until a fall visit home revealed something no one was prepared for: a growth on Leigh-Ann's pancreas. What followed was a short, devastating season filled with advocacy, tenderness, quiet courage, and moments of unexpected beauty. This episode is a powerful reminder that grief isn't just about the diagnosis or the timeline it's about the small moments you carry forever: the way you follow your sibling's lead, the calm you create for them, the love in the room, and the way connection can exist even without words. The President says this Supreme Court ruling on Friday actually clarified and gave him more options for tariffs than before, in the legal sense. Leigh Ann O'Neill is here to discuss these options, and whether the Supreme Court really did give Trump a gift.
What Is Forgiveness? What is forgiveness… really? In this episode, Leighann reflects on a podcast conversation that challenged her understanding of forgiveness, repentance, and reconciliation. After listening twice — once on a walk and once with pen and paper — she wrestles through the difference between what some call therapeutic forgiveness and what Scripture teaches about biblical (gospel) forgiveness. This conversation explores: The difference between therapeutic and biblical forgiveness Unconditional vs. conditional forgiveness What it means to forgive as God forgives Why repentance matters Where reconciliation fits in How bitterness is healed in Christ Why forgiveness strengthens the body of Christ This episode is thoughtful, scriptural, and deeply practical for anyone navigating hurt, strained relationships, or longing for restoration.

In this episode of What Happens in Vagus, Dr. Stephanie Canestraro sits down with Leigh Ann Lindsey, founder of The Accrescent and creator of Healing Alchemy, to explore the powerful connection between the unconscious mind, emotional patterns, and physical illness. Leigh Ann shares her personal journey of being diagnosed with breast cancer at 25 and how that experience led her to discover and ultimately dedicate her work to EVOX therapy, a modality focused on the emotional and energetic contributors to illness.Leigh Ann breaks down what EVOX therapy actually is, explaining how voice mapping identifies imbalanced emotions through vocal tones and how biofeedback frequencies help regulate the nervous system and support emotional release. She discusses why nervous system regulation is critical when working through trauma and chronic illness, and why talk therapy alone can sometimes feel slow or incomplete when the body remains in a stress response. The conversation dives deep into unconscious narratives, safety, and how early life experiences can shape belief systems that quietly run our behaviours, health patterns, and even our ability to heal. Leigh Ann explains how unmetabolized emotions, looping thought patterns, and displaced pain can manifest as illness, and why healing requires more than positive thinking or affirmations. Together, they explore how illness can sometimes serve as a messenger or coping mechanism, offering insight into what the body and psyche may be asking for beneath the surface.Throughout the episode, Leigh Ann emphasizes a “no stone unturned” approach to healing, blending EVOX therapy with depth psychology to help clients move through emotional blockages, rewire old neural pathways, and create a sense of safety within the body. She also shares how her Healing Alchemy membership and resources make this work more accessible for people navigating cancer, chronic illness, and long-standing emotional patterns. This episode offers a compassionate, grounded, and deeply insightful look at healing that honors the mind, body, and spirit as an integrated whole.Find Leigh Ann Lindsey on instagram hereLet us know your thoughts on this episode hereFor any further information, feel free to email us at info@vagusclinic.com. Welcome to the first episode of season SIX of the Growing Small Towns podcast! We're starting off big by having our first-ever TRIO on the pod, and we're so excited to share this episode with you. Most small towns aren't built on startups or corporations; they're built on small (and smaller!) businesses, and today's episode is all about those "smaller" ones: microbusinesses. This episode explores how supporting solopreneurs, side hustles, and local makers creates stronger economies, fuller Main Streets, and communities where people can stay, build, and belong. About Marci, Katie, and Leigh Anna: Marci Goodwin is the co-founder of SmartStart Business Development and has spent over 20 years as an entrepreneur and more than 15 years educating and advocating for small and microbusiness owners—long before "microbusiness" became a buzzword. She works with small and rural communities to build practical, trust-based systems that help local entrepreneurs start, grow, and stay rooted in the places they call home. Katie Kelly is a public servant turned entrepreneur and SmartStart co-founder who learned a lot about business development the hard way. She used her experiences to develop a system to help others avoid common pitfalls and launch businesses that are set up for success. Leigh Ann Brown has over 20 years of experience in economic development and has a passion for helping community leaders support local microbusinesses. She has served as a Main Street Director, Economic Development Director, and Chamber Director, giving her firsthand insight into the day-to-day demands of these roles. She joined SmartStart as Director of Next Steps to help communities reach their economic development goals through practical, turnkey solutions that don't get pushed to the bottom of the task list. In this episode, we cover: Why microbusinesses are the majority, yet they're still underserved. Why it's okay to not want to scale Why sustainable businesses are built by understanding customers, not chasing grants How small investments can create big ripples (and you know how much we love a ripple effect!) Why community matters just as much as the tools. Links + Resources Mentioned: SmartStart website: https://www.smartstartcommunity.com/ Want to get your business in front of our audience?
