IT'S DIFFICULT enough explaining why we Christians believe in Jesus, but doing so with our Jewish brothers and sisters requires tact and patience made necessary by almost 1,900 years of mutual animosity. We're joined this week by Dr. Igal German, founding director of the Institute of Biblical Apologetics (BibleApologist.org) and Yesod Bible Center (YesodBibleCenter.com). We discuss Dr. German's journey from rabbinic Judaism to faith in Jesus as the Messiah, his work in apologetics, and the current state of Christian responses to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Dr. German emphasizes the importance of understanding apologetics as a defense of faith, the need for a strong Christian voice in support of Israel, and the mission to reach the Jewish community with the gospel. There is a complex historical and theological relationship between Judaism and Christianity, and we explore the implications of supersessionism, the interpretation of Messianic prophecies, and the role of education in bridging the divide between Christians and Jews—especially the importance of understanding the Jewish roots of the Christian faith and the need for compassion and sensitivity in evangelism. NOTE: Apologies for the audio issues with my mic this week!

As we said in our Tuesday show, we have interviews with recently-announced Head Coaches at two major programs in Upstate New York. First, Frank & JB discuss Tom Blumenauer's move from Franklin & Marshall to Cortland, as he takes over for Curt Fitzpatrick following the Red Dragons' playoff run in 2024 and National Championship in 2023. Then, they talk with former Morrisville Head Coach Ed Raby about his exit to St. John Fisher after former Head Coach Paul Vosburgh's retirement. Both of these programs have had input in the national #D3FB landscape over the last decades, and both coaches look to continue their own levels of success in their prior jobs at their new locations. Learn a lot more in this episode. (Note: Apologies for some of the clipped audio on Frank's end due to a microphone issue -- it is limited but noticeable at times. Thank you.)

Hey, y'all! We are back from our holiday hiatus and due to the world just being a ball of chaos, we are focusing on something a bit more whimsical. In the late '90s, the town of Talkeetna, Alaska named a cat by the name of Stubbs as their mayor. Join us as we not only cover the life of Stubbs, but also look into the history of a town that didn't blink twice at naming a feline mayor.Note: Apologies for the echo on Dusty's audio. *Editor's Note: Apologies for the hissing noise, all! Other episodes in the season won't be like this, but this was indeed a hardware and environmental-related issue that struck our equipment at the time of recording and was not caught. There's still some fantastic conversations to be had here, so thank you very much in advance for the continued support and for bearing with us this one time. :)* Why do we keep archives? Who uses them? What kind of material can you find there? Hosts Matthew McRae and Samantha Kelly are joined by archivist John Boylan to answer these questions and more. Listen in and discover how the province's Public Archives and Records Office (PARO) opens a window onto our past, and why any visit to the archives can quickly turn into an exciting history mystery. John Boylan has been working in Island heritage since the 1980s. After stints with the PEI Museum, Provincial Heritage Office, and the City of Charlottetown he was hired as the Public Services Archivist at the Public Archives and Records Office of Prince Edward Island in 2006. John has a diploma in museum studies from Algonquin College and a master's degree in archival studies from the University of British Columbia.

Kerry and Collin are joined by first-time guest, longtime friend, film critic Nick Digilio, who claims "The Ref"--starring Dennis Leary, Kevin Spacey and Judy Davis--is his favorite Christmas film of all time. Collin has similar feelings and wanted to wait until the movie had an anniversary, so it could be featured prominently in the December line-up, when the movie would hopefully get more attention than it did back in the day. Why did the studio botch its release? Do people still make fruitcake jokes today? How did screenwriter Richard LaGravenese get his revenge on a Chicago film critic with this film? Also, Nick's choice for a Christmas episode/TV special is none other than the classic "Pee-Wee's Playhouse Christmas Special." It truly is one of the best Christmas specials of all, as evidenced by the joy everyone experienced making it and the joy it continues to bring to audiences several generations later. (NOTE: Apologies for some of the sound quality on this one. It's mostly in the first 15 minutes).

In which it takes Preeti and Jenn two recording sessions to get through all of this INTENSE material, from Egwene's epicness to the parallels between Egwene and Rand to Rand's dark night of the soul and then some. NOTE: Apologies for Preeti's audio in the second half of the episode. She did not check that the computer was using her podcast mic as a sound source and so it recorded the entire thing via the computer mic instead. NOTE: Apologies for the first 90 seconds as our audio cut out and the intro music didn't upload correctly. But if you use your IMAGINATION you can IMAGINE the intro music?! How's THAT for professional?! The first official episode of the new season begins with welcoming back four friends of the show, Hannes, David, Doug, and a bunch of midwestern insects, as they all give us their quick thoughts on the upcoming season! Part Three takes a quick look back at the dumbest trophy in the world, the SuperCup, as the guys use the emotions from Inside Out 2 to channel their inner rage at losing the dumbest trophy in the world. Ahem. Part Four is a look at OFC VfB Americana's survey regarding the upcoming season and the guys chat who's going to be the player of the season, the newbie of the season, and the "that guy is still on the roster?" player of the season. Part Five wraps up the episode with a look at the opening match of the Bundesliga season, where VfB heads to southern neighbors Freiburg to exact some much needed winning! All that and some cicades! Enjoy ... if you dare!

With a viral highlight video of Corey Sanders on social media this week, I took time to discuss his impact on Rutgers men's basketball in the early years of the Steve Pikiell Era. Also 4-star shooting guard in the 2026 class, Aiden Derkack, and brother of current RU guard Jordan Derkack, picked up an offer from the program this week. Plus a football update and more. We begin our salute to the upcoming release of Deadpool & Wolverine with a show so bad it almost made Deadpool quit acting altogether. Imagine a run of the mill high school where “another day, another drama” isn't just a saying, it's a way of life. It really is an awkward stage and a difficult age when you're… Fifteen. (Note: Apologies for some background noise you might hear. Me and Chico recorded on Skype and you might hear a popcorn-ish sound which is the sound of my wood chair creaking. - Greg)
As the beat goes on, I found myself lucky enough to sit down with Brian McCarty, and visit with him about his life and his journey as a musician. It's Episode No. 123, and this one was a treat. Please join me and Brian as we talk about his roles in The Matchsellers, Greg Blake & Hometown, plus his duo setup. We also poked around at family and growing up, the pursuit of dreams, happiness, and the appropriate life path to walk. We also took a peek at a few of his favorite records, which were these:Black Sabbath's Paranoid (1970)Newgrass Revival (s/t), (1972)Dead Milkmen's Big Lizard in My Backyard (1985)Del & the Boys (2001), Del McCoury Band I feel very grateful to have had this conversation with Brian, and to have gotten this podcast to the place it has come to live. Thank you to those of you that support it, and best of luck to Brian in his future endeavors.
