Lindsey, Connor and Jeff. Connor was about 5, now he's 12. Jeff Reitz and Lindsey Osborne from Barley and Bine Beer Café in Windsor, join Steve Jaxon and Herlinda Heras on Brew Ha Ha. People often confuse bines and vines. Hops grow on bines, not vines, which grow vertically. The Barley and Bine Oktoberfest party is Saturday, September 28, from 2pm to 11pm. They have a large selection of beers, almost all are California-based breweries. Herlinda remembers that they have been through a lot since they opened the café seven years ago. They have survived fires and a pandemic. Now they are getting ready for their sixth year celebrating Oktoberfest. Their Oktoberfest party feature the Steve Balich Band which plays authentic German and Bavarian music. Herlinda suggests watching their social media for updates about special events, including appearances of special beers that have a cult following. Russian River Brewing Co. is open in Santa Rosa on 4th St. and at their big Windsor location. Visit their website for up-to-date hours, menus, beers and more. Oktoberfest Marzen means March which is Festbeer brewing time, so they are consumed in the fall. These are not necessarily high-alcohol beers. They are tasting one from Cooperage with is 5.7% ABV. Jeff and Lindsey have brought two items from their Oktoberfest menu. This will be their sixth year celebrating Oktoberfest. They will have 15 different beers on party day. See our sponsor Victory House at Poppy Bank Epicenter online, for their latest viewing and menu options. Barley and Bine makes a half-liter size beer stein, which is a German beer glass. Oktoberfest is also a chance for them to serve brats, which they do in great numbers. They also have 5 different kinds of mustard. They change the menu every month including lots of kinds of street tacos and tater tot nachos of all kinds. The soft pretzels are probably their #1 item. They also have a digital menu board that shows up-to-the-minute information about the beer including when the keg was tapped and how much beer is left in the keg.

The company that makes Funko Pop! collectibles is in so much trouble it's preparing to throw hundreds of thousands of its pop culture-inspired figurines into the garbage. Funko revealed the plans in a recent earnings call filled with so much bad news its stock price fell off a cliff the next day. Two shiny dots in the sky apparently startled some residents in California's Central Valley. The Stanislaus County sheriff took to Facebook Thursday to tell people they shouldn't call 911 as NASA confirmed the stars were in fact Jupiter and Venus. What began as a type of joke has become a point of pride for one Huntington Beach, California, man. Jeff Reitz, 50, has become a celebrity of sorts with his record-breaking streak of 2,995 consecutive visits to Disneyland. I hate the news. Like, really hate the news. It's mostly just politics, and death, and scare tactics. So I decided to create my own news show - for people like me who hate the news - with nothing but funny and wacky stories from around the world. I call it Tony P. How COVID-19 is affecting Immigration Detainees (0:30)Guest: Patrick Michels, Immigration Investigative Reporter, Reveal - From the Center for Investigative ReportingAcross the country, more than 37,000 immigrants are being detained by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement in conditions that are sometimes crowded and prime for the spread of disease. On Tuesday, ICE announced the first confirmed case of COVID-19 in a detainee. Immigrant rights advocates are filing a flurry of lawsuits demanding that migrants be released on humanitarian grounds. Good Neighboring in the Time of COVID-19 (20:41)Guest: Rodney Smith Jr., Founder of Raising Men Lawn Care ServiceEven in the middle of a global pandemic, Rodney Smith, Jr. is on a crusade to do good. He's been at it for four years, actually, traveling the country mowing lawns – for free – for veterans, single mothers, people with disabilities, the elderly or sick. With the quarantines, Smith is sticking to mowing lawns in Huntsville, Alabama where he lives, rather than traveling to other states. But through his nonprofit called “Raising Men Lawn Care Service” he's got an army of kids doing the same for people all over the world. Why Are So Many White, Uneducated Americans Dying Deaths of Despair? (32:36)Guest: Anne Case, PhD, Professor of Economics, Princeton University; Angus Deaton, PhD, Nobel Prize Winning Professor of Economics, Princeton University, Co-Authors of “Deaths of Despair and the Future of Capitalism”Life expectancy is falling in America. That's not supposed to happen in a developed country like ours – and it wasn't happening until about ten years ago. But not all Americans are dying younger. Mainly it's middle-aged white people dying of what Princeton economists Anne Case and Angus Deaton have dubbed “deaths of despair.” 2,995 Days of Disneyland (50:24)Guest: Jeff Reitz, Instagram: @disney366_The coronavirus pandemic shutdown Disneyland and with it pretty remarkable run for Jeff Reitz. He'd been to Disneyland every single day for eight years. The night the park closed, a week and a half ago, was Reitz's 2,995th consecutive day at Disneyland. Can you even imagine? Shaking Earthquake Science (1:09:41)Guest: Victor Tsai, Associate Professor of Earth, Environmental, and Planetary Sciences, Brown UniversityThere was a 5.7 magnitude earthquake in Utah last week – the strongest we've head in decades so it caused quite a bit of anxiety, though not much damage. An earthquake of similar magnitude struck the capital of Croatia on Sunday and caused, significant damage. But in California, there was a 5.3 earthquake near Eureka last week that barely made the news, since quakes of that size happen dozens of times a year in the state. Why are some earthquakes of the same magnitudes more destructive than others? Earth's Car-Sized Second Moon Was Only Visiting (1:24:51)Guest: Bill Gray, Creator of Guide Astrometry SoftwareEarth just lost a moon. After we leave Disneyland, conversation typically goes toward fantasizing about moving to Anaheim just so we could go back every day of the week. Today we talk with Jeff Reitz who has lived our dream - and more! Yes, it's time to find out what it would be like to be ... Going To Disneyland 2,000 Days In A Row But first ... Nothing - we jump right on the phone with Jeff, who is at the Parks (of course)! We learn about how he began going to Disneyland over 5 years ago and just ... kept going. His story is great, because it is, in a way, very Disney-esque - there's a loose redemption story in it, and Jeff was a great interview. Then we do some Feedback, and go over some of the major announcements from D23, like the new Star Wars Land for one! After that, a little Disney News, Fact of the Show, and that's it from us. See you in the Parks! https://youtu.be/wV-2C1m7aF0
