This week we're back at the orignal Terp Table to discuss the new federally compliant hemp rosin drop from Cammy Cat Gardens x Spun Love Hash! They have seven flavors that they dropped on the Roots And Releaf website! The Lilac Diesel is a unique one that stood out to me, since I appreciate good examples of Jack terps! The other jars are great too and are all grown under the Sun in Kentucky soil! The terroir of the central part of the state was captured in each of these miron jars! Also, these jars might be the first example of hemp rosin that is put into the full miron + side/top/bottom lables! It's Not Fair! Life Interrupted: Reluctant Prophet, Relentless God July 30, 2023 In an online article at Inc.com, Ryan Jenkins, author, speaker and generations expert writes, “Entitlement is perhaps the top word associated with the Millennial generation. In fact, 71 percent of American adults think of Millennials as “selfish,” and 65 percent think Millennials are ‘entitled.'” The Millennial generation – those born between 1980 and 1995, have been characterized as self-absorbed, narcissistic, overconfident, materialistic and lazy. (My apologies to any of you Millennials out there, but that's what the research says!). There's no shortage of information to support the assertions; studies have been completed, data has been analyzed, and reports have been published. When all is said and done, it seems to me that what it boils down to is a lot of unrealistic, unmet expectations and an inability to know what to do with them. But are these traits really a millennial thing or could it be that this is a human thing? For the past few weeks, we've been working our way through the Old Testament story of Jonah in a series we've called Life Interrupted: Reluctant Prophet, Relentless God. And if the adjectives are accurate, in a lot of ways, Jonah seems like a misplaced millennial, filled with and driven by unmet and unrealistic expectations. Jonah, it seems, is a lot like us, in a lot of ways; regardless of generation. I invite you to join us as we wrap up Jonah's story this Sunday. Spoiler alert: there is no tidy ending. In fact, we're left with loose ends and a couple of unanswered questions. But maybe that's the point... to wrestle with our own unmet expectations – our inner millennial – and figure out what to do with them. ------------------------- Give Online: https://www.simplechurchgiving.net/App/Giving/dsf Message Notes: https://www.dayspringfellowship.com/sermons   Like, comment & subscribe to stay updated! Episode 273: On August 15, 2009, the mutilated body of Jasmine Fiore, a 28-year-old Playboy model and aspiring actress, was found stuffed into a suitcase and discarded in a dumpster in Buena Park, California. The investigation quickly led to her husband, Ryan Jenkins, a Canadian real estate investor and former contestant on the reality TV show “Megan Wants a Millionaire.” As the investigation progressed, a disturbing picture of domestic violence and jealousy emerged. It was revealed that Jenkins had a history of abusive behaviour towards Jasmine, and the couple had a tumultuous relationship. The motive for the murder appeared to be jealousy and control. Ryan Jenkins fled to Canada, and an international manhunt was launched to apprehend him. However, on August 23, 2009, Jenkins was found dead in a Hope, British Columbia motel room. He had completed suicide by hanging himself. This case generated widespread media coverage and sparked discussions about domestic violence, the dark side of reality TV, and the importance of raising awareness about toxic relationships. The tragic death of Jasmine Fiore served as a grim reminder of the dangers of domestic violence and the need for intervention and support for victims. Calling all snackers! We love a good snack here at the Nest! But have you heard of social snacking? Your mom called and was worried your snacking might ruin your meal, but she should be worried that social snacking can lead to disconnection.  Today, our CEO and Momma Bird, Priscilla McKinney, talks with Ryan Jenkins to discuss breaking the connection barriers in the workplace. As Wall Street Journal best-selling leadership author of Connectable, Ryan has surveyed over 2,000 workers worldwide to discover the answers for quality connection and belonging and why sometimes technology that could enable connection actually thwarts it. Now don't take this the wrong way. Sending a quick text to a friend is good. But as Ryan points out, it takes intentionality to visit that friend. As humans, we follow the path of least resistance, so we choose convenience over connection if we're not intentional. We may be more connected than ever before; yet studies show we are also lonelier. Further, research indicates that for the first time, the emerging generation (Gen Z) is feeling more isolated and lonelier than the elderly population, and this was pre-Covid. Ryan Jenkins and Steven Van Cohen share with Kevin that we underestimate how much we need connection. When people show up lonely for work, they are 7x more likely to be disengaged, 5x more likely to miss work, and twice as likely to think about quitting their job. We need to be intentional about our connections and less transactional. This episode was recorded during our Mental Fitness Day, a Virtual LeaderCon event in April 2022. Key Points In this episode, Ryan and Steven discuss loneliness in the workplace.  They share the difference between loneliness and solitude.  They talk about belonging as an antidote to loneliness. Highlights: “One of our primary goals is to destigmatize loneliness, and to make it much more accessible because it's a universal human condition and we all experience it. So it shouldn't be shameful, it's simply a signal.” [8:10] Ryan explains the stigma of loneliness and how he and his co-author, Steven Van Cohen, want to help. “Let's bring the book front and center; Connectable, what's the big idea behind it? It's not just a book about loneliness…is it?” [11:52] Marcel introduces Ryan's book, ready to dive deep about the meaning of loneliness in the workplace.  “Work is the most fertile ground to lessen loneliness because there is routine, and there's meaningful relationships that can occur, there's purpose, there's learning. There's all these loneliness lifelines that we can all grasp onto.” [12:22] Ryan shares the thinking behind his book why connection is important and how work can make the difference. “This is so real for people that are listening, they understand ‘oh this is happening right now'....let's start with the why…why are so many workers suffering right now from loneliness?' [15:00] As Marcel relates the rising loneliness rates to his audience, Ryan explains the big ticket reasons as busyness and social media! “Loneliness was an epidemic pre COVID, and then COVID comes along…BAM...now we're in crisis, there is an increase in loneliness and isolation. People go remote for the first time, they don't know how to manage…that work life blend.” [18:30] Acknowledging the escalation of loneliness caused by the pandemic and the increase of remote work, Marcel challenges how to engage isolated workers.  “If we experience loneliness our reaction should be to reach out and connect with others but what happens is we turn inward and it just creates this downward spiral where we isolate further.” [26:46] In Connectable, Ryan and his co-author share 10 ways to identify signals of loneliness, here he shares a few ways to see this in your co-workers or friends.  “Even as an introvert, you still need to connect as well. It is in your human design to do that.” [32:50] Marcel recognizes that there are some personality types that may be assumed to prefer less connection, but still genuinely benefit from interaction. “Leaders at any level of the organization, one of the best ways is to communicate clearly. Make sure everyone knows what's going on: What we're doing in the organization, why we're doing things in the organization. For every leader, they should make sure that people know how they're fitting into that bigger picture.” [43:30] What can leader's do to create belonging in the work environment? Ryan shares some closing advice for leaders to foster connection in their organizations.  Resources: Less Lonely  Connectable: How Leaders Can Move Teams From Isolated to All In

He lives in Orange County CA with his wife and two daughters.   THIS EPISODE IS PERFECT FOR…  workers who are seeking validation and understanding in the loneliness of their workplace environment and managers who are striving to create a more connected workforce to inspire, engage, and properly appreciate their employees.   TODAY'S MAIN MESSAGE… While managing the emotional state of employees might not directly exist on a team leader's job description, the fact is that disengaged and lonely employees are less productive and more susceptible to burnout. We must find the balance between caring about people and getting stuff done if we want to succeed as a healthy workplace.   WHAT I LOVE MOST… The business case for caring about employee loneliness is clear: workers who feel seen and heard perform better for your team. Building workplace connections is in your best interest because it inspires people to come to work as the best versions of themselves – everyone wins.     Running time: 30:37 Subscribe on iTunes     Find Tiffani on social: Facebook Twitter LinkedIn   Find Steven online: Official Website Twitter LinkedIn   Steven's Book: Connectable: How Leaders Can Move Teams from Isolated to All In
