Although there has been a long-standing trend on eating healthier and eating gluten-free (GF) not everyone has to. However, individuals who have been diagnosed with celiac disease need to follow a gluten-free diet in order to stay, and feel, healthy. Chef Monica Glass not only follows a gluten-free lifestyle, she has created and dedicated her culinary ventures within the GF community since 2009. As a well-known Pastry Chef, Writer, and wellness advocate, Chef Glass has created products and recipes that are indulgent and GF. When Mal Wrenn Corbin got to college, the bucolic, peaceful campus seemed not only like a haven but a world away from the turbulence of her life in post-industrial Worcester, Massachusettes. As she set out to find success in the professional world, there was always a feeling that perhaps she hadn't tucked that history far back enough and she would be found out as who she'd been. Once she decided to face the trauma in her past, she was able to recognize that her full story was worth telling. In this episode, find out from Mal how looking back and bridging the distance can sometimes show how far we've come…on Roads Taken with Leslie Jennings Rowley. About This Episode's GuestMal Wrenn Corbin has had a full career in the financial services industry, with experience in Fortune 500 companies, deepening client engagement and cultivating high profile client relationships, particularly with C-suite executives. Her successes there have tended to be shadowed, though, by deep seated trauma from her youth that she is finally addressing in her newly-published book Raising Wrenns: A Memoir. The book captures stories of her family's life in post-industrial Worcester and how, unlike her brother and father whose lives were cut short there, she was able to leave and create a different life. Comparing and contrasting the Wrenn family's behaviors with those of their avian namesake, the memoir touches on trauma and the strength it takes to fly. The Chicago Fire traveled to Massachusettes to take on the New England Revolution and almost walked away with all three points but, in typical Chicago Fire fashion they cannot hold on to a lead. They blew the lead twice in one game. Koutsias scores again, making it two goal in two games, are we seeing the start of our starting striker? Results for the Chicago Red Stars, Chicago Fire II, Chicago House A.C and Edgewater Castle in The Loop Around Old Town segment. The Fire will next travel up north to Toronto to face a struggling TFC before making the trek to Ohio to face Eastern Conference leaders FC Cincinnati and capping it off on June 6th hosting Houston Dynamo in the USOC quarter final. What a CreepSeason 18, Episode 8Lizzie Borden (1860-1927)“Creepy Murder Mystery”“Lizzie Borden took an axe. Gave her mother 40 whacks. When she saw what she had done, she gave her father 41”--Children's rhyme late 19th century/early 20th century.Lizzie Borden was just another 32-year-old New England single woman who loved her family and was devoted to her church. On the morning of Thursday, August 4, 1892, her world turned upside down with the murder of her father and stepmother in her home. Each was hit multiple times in the head with an axe and with no witnesses, and Lizzie was the only one in the house when the crimes occurred--she was charged with their murder. What happened next was one “trial of the centuries” the media likes to play up along with a mystery that has never been solved. Lizzie was acquitted and lived the rest of her life as a pariah. Who were the Bordens, and why would anyone want them dead? If Lizzie didn't do it, who did? Did her sister Emma know the truth behind the murders? Why is her crime still a source of fascination with dozens of films, books, and documentaries about this one crime? We will discuss this in today's creepy murder mystery!Sources for this episode: Lizzie Borden WikipediaSmithsonian MagazineBritannicaCrime MuseumLegends of AmericaPBS News HourThe Lizzie Borden Chronicles (2015) Christina RicciThe Legend of Lizzie Borden (1975) Elizabeth MontgomeryLizzie (2018) Kristen Stewart The Trial of Lizzie Borden by Cara RobertsonThe Borden Murders by Sarah MillerCBS 48 Hours (December 2020)The New York Times 2021The New York PostThe Inhabitant (2022)History's MysteriesA & E Lizzie Borden: A Woman Accused (1996)Trigger warnings: Sex abuse, animal abuse (quick mention), and murderBe sure to follow us on social media. Hello to you listening in Danvers, Massachusettes!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds (and quite a bit more because we're celebrating!) for Thoughts on Thursday and your host, Diane Wyzga. 2 years ago I wrote this Advance Praise for Susanne Mueller's book, Lipstick Leadership: Empowering and Inspiring Women Who Dare to Lead: “When I asked Suzanne if she was luckier than most having been born in the shadow of a castle in Thune, Switzerland she said her luck was born of a willingness to see life's challenges for what they really were: an opportunity to show up, say "Yes!", take on the challenge, and help others. Leadership is a privilege. Suzanne's skillful leadership comes from a deep well of confronting challenges which taught her what's indispensable to bringing out the very best in people: curiosity, cooperation and collaboration.”Today I believe in Susanne Mueller and her work more than ever because she continues to show up. Fraudology is presented by SEON.In the last 2 weeks, the world has watched major changes at Twitter under the new ownership of Elon Musk occur rapidly. The biggest cause of these rapid changes was a loss of trust in the platform by its users. Billions of dollars were lost in advertising revenue, fake accounts were authenticated & caused issues of ranging severity, and over 1/2 of Twitter's 7500 employees are now unemployed. Twitter has taught the tech world that they should never (again) undervalue the stability and consistency of Trust & Safety teams. Content moderation, payment acceptance, and fraud/identity all played major roles in the rapid downfall of this company, and on today's episode, Karisse is dissecting it all to explain what went wrong and why. Also in this episode: New fraud trends impacting online retailers, Transunion reported a data breach to the state of Massachusettes (no details on numbers yet), and the impacts on the tech world of all of the other layoffs at large companies such as Meta, Stripe, and Chime. On Thursday's episode, crypto compliance expert Stephen Sargeant will be joining Fraudology to talk about the rapid demise of crypto exchange FTX. Never a dull moment in the online fraud world!Fraudology is hosted by Karisse Hendrick, a fraud fighter with decades of experience advising hundreds of the biggest ecommerce companies in the world on fraud, chargebacks, and other forms of abuse impacting a company's bottom line. Connect with her on LinkedIn She brings her experience, expertise, and extensive network of experts to this podcast semi weekly, on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Legally Blonde is a 2001 romantic comedy directed by Robert Luketic. It's the story of Elle Woods, Reese Witherspoon, a fashion merchandising student and sorority girl from South California. She is dating Warner Huntington III played by Matthew Davis. Elle seems to believe that Warner is going to propose to her but we LEARN, that is not the case. Warner is going off to Massachusetts to study at Harvard Law School and he is BREAKING UP WITH ELLE because she doesn't fit this ideal partner if he intends one day to go into politics. He needs a Vanderbilt or a Kennedy or some kind of person with a historic last name and a strong family. Undeterred by this Elle Woods makes it her mission, to go from being a fashion obsessed SoCal sorority girl, get in to Harvard to prove to Warner that she is who he wants her to be… Is this movie franchise on the list of "you ruined a good thing"? Much is being made of a new Legally Blonde movie, what does that look like? See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Mixed Media Artist and owner of the Art Love Gallery in Provincetown, Massachusettes, Jackie Fuchs, shares how to “lean into” your pain and heal yourself through the use of stories. She encourages artists to reflect on the story they are telling themselves about their art by asking these questions. Why do I do what I do? How do I do it? And what does success mean to me? She reminds the listener to embrace their feelings, even if they're painful, and seek out tools that heal themselves. Tools include positive self-talk, meditation, choosing emotions, and reflecting on the story you tell others. She asks listeners to avoid using the term struggling artist. “If you're painting, what is the struggle?” she asks. Words are part of your story.Jackie reminds artists to invest in their success by participating in art fairs and workshops and surrounding themselves with a support group. As a gallery owner, she also encourages artists to find their unique voice and ensure that their portfolio displays that voice consistently.
